Trustworthy where it matters most: restores. We verified a byte-identical recovery of data that no longer existed on the source machine, which is exactly what a backup product must deliver. Usability has rough edges, but for the price it is very good value, and we are moving from the trial to a paid license.

Pros

The backup engine is solid and, more importantly, provably restorable. We run image-based backups of a Windows 11 workstation to an external USB drive: one full backup with VSS, then fast block-level incrementals (about 20 minutes) with roughly 80% storage savings from dedup plus compression. Our acceptance test was restoring a single file from the AES-encrypted image: it came back byte-identical (SHA-256 verified) — and it was a file that had already been deleted from the source disk, so it was a genuine data recovery, not a demo. E-mail failure notifications are dependable: they flagged every scheduled run that failed while the destination drive was unplugged. Scheduling, retention and consistency checks have worked without surprises, and the CLI is handy for automation.

Cons

File-level restore is unintuitive: the wizard steers you toward full disk restore, and restoring a single file requires right-click > Quick Restore inside Backup Storage, with no search in the image browser. Failure e-mails arrive under the mild subject "completed with warnings", which is easy to overlook when a run actually failed. Creating the bootable recovery USB from the CLI hit a driver-injection error (access denied on a virtual adapter driver) that we had to work around.

Solid, cost-effective, and reliable once dialed in. Strongly recommend for technically comfortable users; less so if you want one-click simplicity. Capability and value are top-tier — the learning curve and doc gaps keep it at a 4 rather than 5.

Pros

Extremely capable for the price. Block-level incremental backups, client-side AES-256 encryption, VSS for open files, flexible scheduling, and long-term GFS retention — all to cheap S3-compatible storage like Backblaze B2, so ongoing cost is a few dollars a year. Restores are granular (single file, any point in time) and there's a full CLI for automation. Once configured it's been rock-solid: runs on schedule with no failures, and block-level keeps each incremental tiny.

Cons

Powerful but not beginner-friendly. Setup has many options, several actions need an elevated/admin CLI, and some behavior (exclusion masks, retention formats) is under-documented — I had to experiment. My first large backup silently hit a Backblaze storage cap and the error could've been clearer. The account/licensing side was also confusing (standalone app vs. the managed-backup web console). Budget some patience and technical comfort for initial config.

As a first time user of this software I must say that I am impressed by it. Its easy to setup and intuitive.

Pros

Able to use third party storage providers which guarantees the implementation of a hybrid setup. Thus allowing me to use the 1,2,3 rule in backup.

Cons

Not sure, have not encountered anything. But if i have to think about something it probably would be that it has no additional web interface.

Overall, MSP360 Backup provides a solid and flexible backup solution, particularly for environments that need control over storage destinations and cost. Its ability to integrate with multiple cloud providers and support a range of backup types makes it well-suited for small to mid-sized businesses and IT-managed environments. The platform performs reliably for routine backups, and the centralized management console is useful for overseeing multiple systems. Deployment is straightforward once the architecture is understood, and the encryption and security options are strong. However, the experience is somewhat impacted by occasional complexity during setup. Troubleshooting can also take longer than expected due to vague error messages and logs. In summary, it is a dependable and cost-effective backup solution with strong flexibility. Still, it requires a moderate level of technical familiarity to manage efficiently if you don't have experience with any backup software.

Pros

The ease of setup and configuration. Backups and restores are simple. Flexible backup options (file-level, image-based, cloud, hybrid). Integration with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Wasabi, Backblaze), allowing cost control and storage choices. Reliable and consistent backups with good scheduling and retention policies. Granular restore capabilities (individual files, full systems, point-in-time recovery). Encryption support (in-transit and at-rest). Reasonable licensing model compared to many enterprise backup solutions. Support for Windows Server, workstations, and virtual environments (e.g., Hyper-V) Easy deployment and agent-based setup for endpoints.

Cons

The restore process can be slower than expected, particularly for large image-based backups. Error messages and logging are sometimes unclear, making troubleshooting more difficult. Licensing structure can become confusing when mixing backup types, endpoints, and add-ons.

MSP360 has been a dependable solution in our MSP toolkit. It's particularly great for customers who already have preferred cloud storage or want control over backup destinations. While not as "plug-and-play" as other options, the flexibility it provides is unmatched when tailored properly

Pros

MSP360 offers a flexible, powerful backup platform with support for local, cloud, and hybrid storage. It's highly customizable, supports a wide range of storage providers (AWS, Wasabi, Backblaze, etc.), and has detailed job logs and reporting. The granular restore options and image-based backup are also strong points.

Cons

The interface can feel outdated and overwhelming for new users. Remote management through the web console (especially in legacy versions) lacks polish. Some errors can be cryptic and require deep digging.
