About Backand

Backand is a feature-rich backend-as-a-service for Angular that eliminates server-side hassles. It takes care of all the heavy-lifting associated with database management, security, user management (such as social login), integration with 3rd-party apps (such as MailChimp, Stripe or Paypal), scalability, hosting and so much more.

Pros: Simply put, nothing. Going directly to Amazon AWS/RDS is just as easy and direct, has none of the technical headaches,

Cons: We used Ionic with Backhand in an attempt to quickly get an initial mobile app up and running. Just over 9 months later, we've abandoned our use of Backhand for our mobile app and moved directly to Amazon RDS due to the direct, negative impact of Backhand technically and financially. Put directly, the product is a rip-off from the ground up - and designed to be so. Echoing the sentiments of a previous reviewer, Bachand's pricing calculations are not publicly available and arbitrary, extreme pricing calculations kick in at unknown points. From there, any attempt to obtain an answer to "why in the world are we being charged so much. met with obfuscation, evasion and plain refusal to deliver info on exactly how you are charged. It is a scheme designed to get you on the platform cheaply, then rip you off. No contracts, no clear explanation of charges, just instantaneous "oh well, now you're being charged 10X" tactics. The support is spotty and antagonistic, the documentation full of holes and the APIs are constantly changing. BEWARE any bulk data upload! As well, for US users, this company is bound by terms and governance of Israel, so your options for legal action are limited to credit disputes, FTC complaints, BBB complaints and the Israel Consumer Council (all of which we're doing). Do not be fooled by the US "HQ" address that is a residential home in CA.

Overall: None. We were charged fraudulently and support was terrible. Product is a scam.

Backand is the crappiest piece of shit that I have ever come across. I am a current user.

Pros: They are good at marketing. The list of features which they claim' to have is good, but they don't work out bugs.

Cons: Backand is the crappiest piece of shit that I have ever come across. and not just technically, pricing wise they are a bunch of crooks. Apart from marketing, they do nothing about their business. I am currently a customer and a sorry one. Its documentation is awful, have a look for yourself, you cannot imagine the dimwits their tech support are, Most of the basic features are not developed, and this is May 17, on pushing they give you the database credentials of mysql and say fix it on your own , so basically you are paying for Mysql as a service and not backend as a service. Regarding pricing, the free plan that they mention is not free, you will be charged heavily if your computation and request usage exceeds their mentioned limit in the free plan, and there is no way to stop that. So basically you don't know how much you are going to be charged for the free plan. Interestingly this is not mentioned anywhere on their website. I got charged 87$ for 15 days while I was on free plan this way.:). I am repenting 1 month of time and effort that I put there now.

Does not worth for the price you pay, get rid of it

Pros: easy to implement

Cons: For a production package start at USD 199. I believe you can find a much better deal with AWS, Azure or Google cloud.

Overall: the price package is expensive. Though is user interface is `Okay', ease of use. Be careful if your vendor suggest to use backand, unless you have a high budget. They may just want to have an easy work for your database and create API.
