October 26, 2016 5.0 Hi, we've been using Namely for the past year and it's been fun implementing the system and building out our new processes within the system. There have been a couple of challenges, but I think it's because the company is still growing. I believe they are aware of the issues and are trying their best to fix them. I like that they seem to be transparent, they continuously keep us clients informed about releases and updates. They know that they must get payroll running smoothly (which is where we have the most issues). Payroll still needs work but it's not bad or a deal breaker. I'm confident that they will make payroll better within the next couple of months. Pros Allows us to have a paperless on boarding! " October 17, 2017 4.0 Pros Namely provides a one stop shop for all employee related items (payroll, benefits, HRIS, time tracking, onboarding). It has been a great tool for us and has saved us a lot of time. It is easy to you and a clean interface on both the administration and employee side. Cons There have been a few issues with integration with different carriers and software but Namely is working to make sure that everything is talking to each other. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Research Analyst Internet Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "I'm still on the fence with Namely, but it has been easy to use and learn" January 31, 2018 3.0 Pros Navigation: The navigation menu is stunningly simple, which is a breath of fresh air compared to other services like Zenefits. All navigation options are listed in a nice column on the left hand side; no confusion. Service Offerings: What has been really nice with Namely so far is that we no longer need to use a separate HR service or a separate paystub tracking service. We have effectively ceased using ADP and Zenefits in favor of Namely. I'm all for software simplification and Namely does just that. Cons UI/UX: If I'm being honest, I'm not sure I like the UI/UX. It looks like a re-skinned and scaled back version of LinkedIn. I also highly dislike the twitter-style news feed as soon as you login. I don't need or want more channels of internal communication. Not much going on: Namely simply has little going on. If I dont need to request PTO, see the holiday calendar, or review my paystub, I have zero reason to login and use Namely. Perhaps it is just better that way, but Namely does little to encourage me to login and actually use the service. It feels more like a checkbox service where we have and use it to check a checkbox for company needs. Sensitive Info: The Namely administrator can make certain sensitive information available for all to see, such as birthdays, personal phone number, or personal address. Day 1 of using Namely we had a lot of this information available for everyone to see, but it has since been restricted. Review Source JP Jaclyn P. Analytics finally improved out of beta. I honestly have nothing else good to say. Cons Everything? We we sold a full price beta product in July 2017. Implementation, bugs, carrier feeds taking months. Overall, a nightmare. Of the dozens of Namely employees I have had contact with, I believe 3 are still with the company? They are charging the same high price but decreasing their service level to downright awful. Email request response can take days or not get a response at all. Or multiple reps respond with DIFFERENT RESOLUTIONS!? Calling is a ten minute hold time. They are decreasing their service levels by the day, pushing payroll tax maintence back to the customer, I have been without a dedicated CSM for two+ months now. I cannot wait to be done with this contract and this product. It's simple enough, and allows our Payroll managers to make amendments as needed with little effot. Pros Simple, easy to use. Cons Can't think of any major criticisms for what we use it for. HR sends notices periodically about happenings around the company and Namely is a nice platform in which to view them. Pros I like that it shows me a list of people in my organization that have a birthday or anniversary coming up. It allows me to send a friendly note that, I believe, builds community. Cons I wish the org chart was a little stronger. There are times when I need to know what team a certain individual is on, but Namely does not give this level of detail. Review Source KB Katherine B. I also really enjoy all the customization options there are. I can pretty easily get all the data that I need. Cons I'm not a big fan of the performance feature. They used to have issues with responsiveness on the support side, but they have fixed that. They have a really great Help Community feature now that has pretty much fixed that. Most employees have not needed much in the way of training or tutorials and they like the eases of use and the user interface. It can be customized fairly well and the team and account reps are always available to help. I also love how it integrates so many HR functions under one roof and all are done well. Cons One minor drawbacks on time off reports is you cannot run a report to see vacation balances as of a certain day in the past (or future) - it is only current. Also, navigating is a bit clunkier than I'd like - there are no dynamic searches and you cannot jump from a Teams page for one employee to a Teams page for another employee with one click. Aside from just the HR side, you get updates on birthdays, anniversaries, can give people shoutouts, etc. which is really cool. Pros We moved from ADP to Namely and it is a much more engaging HRIS system and allows you to be linked to members of the organization. Payroll isn't fun as it is, but Namely allows it to be :) Cons The timecard option. It's pretty tedious to put in your for each day. As well, if you do overtime it becomes even more difficult. A process that takes 5-10 minutes, I feel like could easily be simplified into 1 minute. Review Source GR Gena R. Pros The real-time reporting that Namely can produce is helpful and it's easy to use. You can grab any data in any format and pull it out of the system immediately. Other systems you have to wait or would have to have a new report built to your exact specifications. Cons As a tech and data company, we pride ourselves in knowing and using the best technology. Namely is not an intuitive or simple system. They also aren't able to scale with companies, as we grew from 100 employees to 1200 over night, the system caused many headaches in terms of functionality and user experience. From onboarding to exiting an employee, the system is great. All of my employees loved the user side as well! Cons It is clear that Namely was an HRIS first and decided they wanted to make more money by breaking into the Payroll world. There are so many deficiencies in the Payroll system - limiting to three earnings codes, consistently messing up our 403b contributions, incorrectly taxing housing allowance for pastors, the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, the pains of the Payroll system were so great that we had to give up the benefits of the HRIS and switch to a different solution. Review Source Fatima R. Pros Namely is a great tool to have in any organization. It will help your operation cost and streamline HR processes. I enjoyed the dashboard, all important information is easy to access and the messaging function is an easy way to communicate with HR or Namely Admin. Cons When I had to do revisions to my benefits it was a hurdle, I had to wait on our Admin to update my profile. But as soon as it was updated, doing the revisiions was easy. They are just too new and do not have the staff to accomplish what they say and when they say it by. Our implementation was a nightmare (all of the work and auditing was on our team), and our first two payrolls were done without solid support from their team - which is just crazy. We are 5 payrolls in and still have not had a payroll with out significant issues (federal tax issues, 401 (k) calculation issues, deduction set up issues, check issues, i.e.) Pros We like the look and feel of the home page. The single sign on with Active Directory is great. Cons Where to start... -No support - we wait on hold for 40+ mins to talk to someone in support. No one replies to emails. Additional, the phones dont seem to work well (poor quality and drop calls). Not payroll or system experts. -There can only be 3 additional earnings on a check... -There is multiple systems that don't talk to each other (like Time and HRIS) -Benefits - there is not a way to reject one piece and not another so the employee has to continue to log back in and redo everything. -Reporting is difficult and has many limitations. -Esignature is easy to use or see in a que. -They don't calculate garnishments. It has streamlined a range of processes including onboarding, performance management, employee changes and more. It also has a great UI that makes it easy for employees to update information, access resources and complete processes like requesting time off. Cons We haven't used some of Namely's additional resources like payroll and benefits yet, but we look forward to evaluating those options as well. May 31, 2018 5.0 Pros Great customer service, awesome "Backstage Pass" features educating about all areas of HR, and an always-improving platform are some of Namely's strengths. When I reach out to my customer success representative, I usually get a response within a few hours. She's even helped with things that are out of her realm. Namely is always asking for feedback on how to improve the product, and in my short time working with this system, I've seen several of those requested features implemented. Namely also has some of the best training resources available. Cons It's still fairly new, so some features are still being worked on. There are so many reports available that it's a bit difficult to know what each report contains and which would serve your purpose best. Review Source VC Virginia C. Account Manager Wholesale Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Namely review" October 25, 2019 3.0 My overall experience with Namely is that it helps management track out work hours but is not convenient for the average worker. For example there is a social media section and although I could see the appeal for perhaps a smaller company this is unnecessary for someone who simply wants to review their hours and look into their current work specifics. This company has employees that are extremely computer savvy and others that need help logging into a computer, Namely has too many useless functions (in my opinion) and overall I am dissatisfied and feel there must be better programs out ther. Pros The only pro I can find as a user is that I am able to review my time sheet/work hours before it gets submitted to my management team. Cons The biggest con for me is that Namely allows for anyone in the company to have access to other employees' time card. I am not sure if this was disclosed when the company looked into the program, and to be fair there is an option to add a personal pin number before you can go through to the time card but why would we add a pin if we don't know anything is amiss? This is a big fail and I am unsure if that falls under Namely or the person/people responsible for purchasing the program for the company. Review Source CS Casey S. Part of this is probably because of such high turnover on their part. They have not driven the implementation. They've constantly tried to up-sell. They're difficult to reach - to get to the right person for a timely response. Not only will I not use them again, I feel like I should actively warn others away from them because our experience has been so bad. We are able to integrate google docs and many other programs such as Right Signature for our onboarding process. We are able to keep up with all New Hire documents and have everything in one platform. You are able to see all work anniversaries, birthdays, important events and many other items. We are able to house all of our company information and introductions for New Hires in this program. Cons The software takes a little bit of time to learn how to navigate all of the different options and screens. Pros The software is very easy to navigate. The software is very basic; nothing to hard to understand about it. It is also very effective when completing most HR/payroll duties. The software is very organizational; everything stays and is kept in its place. Also the software can act as DocuSign to accurately sign pertinent documents. Cons The customer support is very mediocre and should be worked on. The layout/format could be more innovative, cutting-edge, and definitely updated. The integrations can be more advanced as well.
