HR Director/Privacy Officer Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Solid software for the price" April 14, 2017 4.0 The support team and onboarding tools are both fantastic. They've recently added a "goals" feature that we are just starting to use, so that is exciting. Overall, it's a great value for the price. Pros Great UI, compared to other HRIS products of similar cost. The internal support team is very responsive and helpful. There is a wide range of tools to choose from: onboarding, PTO, performance reviews, benefit portals, payroll, etc. I've found the onboarding feature very helpful, as new hires can start their HRIS profile, as well as read and agree to all new hire paperwork. Cons The API leaves some room for improvement, but I believe they are working to improve it. Also, the benefits portal works well, but the "electronic feed" to the insurance company hasn't worked for us. Well, it works, it just doesn't link accurate information. I believe they are working on that as well. The performance review reminders are not found in an intuitive manner, but the program itself is pretty easy to use once you know where to find things. There is an issue litterally every day. Leaving as soon as possible. Pros it does look nice on HR side but literally nothing else. Cons everything else- nothing works or talks to each other. the customer service team are completely unhelpful- time management doesn't make any sense - we have to manually enter PTO into payroll each pay period. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SYSTEM. I inherited this from someone who did managed services with them- they should not offer this service, because Namely has no idea how to manage these or be a broker. Its a joke. The payroll function is easy to use and constantly updating to make it even more user friendly and efficient. Cons The timecard functionality doesnt sync up with the "Time Off" that employees enter, and the payroll period 'closes' when payroll is submitted, even if some of the days haven't occured yet. Their customer service is practically unparalleled, they go above and beyond to help guide us in our usage, and interacting with their employees has been uniformly great. The system itself is robust, we are able to quickly pull many different reports with ease, run complex annual performance reviews, track our time off and much more with no hiccups. What helped us to make our decision to choose Namely was how simple it was for our employees to use it, it's a modern design and if you can navigate Facebook, you can certainly navigate Namely. I definitely recommend Namely to any small to medium business, it's been a wonderful experience! Pros Easy to use, easy to navigate Cons The compensation portion could be a bit more robust in terms of tracking changes to salaries after reviews. I love how easy it is to navigate and request my time off days or any other requests I may need. I really like the tree chart it shows on who everyone reports to. Selecting my benefits was also really easy to do as well. Cons I wish there was maybe a messaging system where I could live chat to one of our HR reps because they are in a satellite office so communication is hard sometimes when trying to deal with discreet hr matters. It is easier to get around and see things than a lot of other over bloated HRIS. It looks like they add new features quickly. Cons However, our HR person complains constantly how simple tasks are very difficult to perform on his end. Also, it is really hard to find specific things as they are nested in different locations, the navigation is weird and the social functionality is not great. Review Source NS Neil S. Some of the functions are fantastic - the onboarding, the performance tool, the time off function, and its very easy to customise some of the profile fields to your own requirements. Also, it will be great when the new reporting tool is rolled out, and you can do point in time reporting. Cons There are limitations in terms of some of the functions for non-US employees. For example, we can't track UK or Canadian expenses through Namely. Also, some of the recent changes have meant we have had to change our internal processes to fit, rather than having the flexibility to do it the other way round. Does a good track of keeping hours, shows exactly the information you need. Also is good for HR blasts, so the company can see new updates for policies, insurance, all that Jazz. Also it is extremely pretty, they did a good job making it look nice, which as a graphic designer I really appreciate. Cons Sometimes I have trouble saving my hours. I go in and save and then it doesn't work. Also, the app is pretty finicky. you have to do a bunch of intense coding stuff to even get it to work in the first place, but once you do its pretty useful to just click clock in and click clock out. Pros Our company started using Namely and I think it is great. I have access to everything I could possibly want with regards to my employment, employee docs, etc. Just yesterday I pulled up a list of companies holidays (darn we don't get any days off around Easter) and found it easily. I think this system works so well because our HR team is on the ball and fully utilizing it. If they were not, this system would be pretty worthless. Cons You can easily pull up your compensation, which is something very sensitive. I think that should require a password again. Review Source Dan W. It also provides a centralized location to view your benefits, paystubs, employee news, etc. Slick interface and easy to use. Cons Namely does everything well except track employee time. We couldn't use it to track out hourly workers time in and out which would have been a benefit and is like the one thing it's lacking. Maybe it's there but we never found it. The news feed is a great way to add transparency to your communication efforts throughout the business and is easily recognizable from a social media perspective. The data is captured and maintained effectively and it is one of the easiest payroll experiences I have had. Cons They are still working on integrating the HR and Payroll side of the product. The total was suppose to be around 2000 but they instead transferred 17000 into employees 401K accounts. It was a mess to fix and they didn't even seem remorseful. That is just one of MANY issues. Pros Honestly Nothing. The look of it I guess is nice but that's about it. They have you take hours of training when you start and its not helpful at all. Cons Everything they've tried to "take over" they've screwed up. Not worth the money in my eyes. I don't trust anything they've done and their customer service is not very good either. For instance my 'rep' got married and went out of town for 3 weeks and didn't even tell me or put me in touch with someone to help with any issues. I've worked with a lot of HRIS systems (I am an HR consultant) and Namely just doesn't make sense. Its extremely confusing. Review Source AS Allison S. Pros Namely is awesome! It is a cloud-based software that is accessible on virtually any device with internet or the app. I love that you can easily input, update, and track all your data as an employee. You can also review your pay, submit performance reviews and merit increase requests, as well as putting in for time off. It's a relatively reliable system with little error on the user end, and while it can be a bit jumbled in where everything is housed, ultimately it's pretty easy to use. Cons My company ultimately switched to another HRIS software because there were a lot of issues on the adiministrator and management side of things. As a user, one major frustration I noticed also came from the updating of benefits year after year. It was difficult to do with a lot of correction needed. Review Source EK Evan K. There’s a feed on the homepage, like Facebook for all people to interact with one another. Tabs are easily organized with features like tasks lists with the ability to tag other members, transparency, report generation, auto analysis of various data and one stop shop for benefits, documentation, important information and more. Cons No auto analysis for engagement in the feed. Only data inputted I to the system. Does not automatically signal you don’t have access at your level, just blocks you from continuing work.
