Pros: As a cloud solution, this system is easily accessible to all users. The administrative side of things is well thought and well designed and packed full of the right features to effectively manage countless files. It integrates easily and well with Lightroom and the optional Adobe connector makes managing assets during the production process even easier. This software has saved me countless hours of work and has helped me and my operations to be far more efficient.

Administrators and editors have to thoroughly learn the nuances of this system, but after a week... it's automatic. Processing files take only a few minutes from start to finish, complete with keywording either while importing the images into Libris or by adding them to images after they're imported. Too, the sharing mechanism works great with easy to design templates to ensure clients always get the right info to access their files.

In short, I cannot imagine doing my work well without Libris. Oh, and their support team is FANTASTIC... responsive and thorough.

Cons: I would like to see a little more flexibility with back-end privileges. You can have taggers, contributors and editors, but the hierarchy is not progressive in that contributors can also be taggers. Too, the Lightbox is a great option, but it's not designed to share all images within a Lightbox to a user for batch download.

I would like to see a couple enhancements: 1.) better notification options when adding personnel so that email addresses you share to can be automatically incorporated into the notification. For example, if I share to Betty_smith@blahblah.com but she uses the alias Betty.smith@blahblah.com this causes confusion. So, as an editor and administrator, you MUST make sure you share the exact email address with the user when they first access the system. It seems this could be automated. 2.) notification to an editor and/or administrator when new files are uploaded for approval and placement. The are minor issues.

Overall: Incredibly effective and efficient file management that's so easy to share with others. It is the solution that emerged from hours and hours of research into digital asset management systems. I simply cannot function well without it.

Pros: I love that the Libris platform is so intuitive, clean and user friendly. The multiple ways to search give flexibility to the user and the sharing controls really allow you to be specific with who can access your images. Invited users can create light boxes within the system to allow for collaboration which is such a handy feature. I love that the images show up large on the screen making image selection easier and I also love that users can select their desired size of download. You don't always need the full size, full resolution version! Downloads are always fast and without error. The customer support is fantastic and fast. I also appreciate all the tutorials, blogs and webinars offered as part of your membership. They do a great job of keeping photographers up to date on equipment, trends and general news in the field of photography. As a member, you feel like a part of a community that's cheering you on and there to help you succeed.

Cons: My only complaint about the system is the lightbox feature feels a bit outdated and cumbersome. You can't "select all" for downloading or even to set permissions for downloading. You have to do it one by one, which is very tedious. I hope they update this soon. I've found it's easier to copy selected images into a new gallery instead and share the gallery link as a way to collaborate, but it's just a half workaround because only the admin can create galleries, whereas invited users can only create light boxes.

Overall: It's an easier access storage solution for our library of images. It's a great system for sharing and collaborating. It has given me the ability to hunt down images fast and deliver them to the client easily. I also love that you can organize it in the way that works best for you.

Pros: We most like Libris' functionality regarding photo organizing and sharing. Libris equips its users with a variety of ways to quickly upload photos and create a library structure that makes sense to your organization. We love the ability to tag photos in batch and personally add metadata to photos. This way, our photos are searchable, but also browsable through Libris' collections and galleries structure. Sharing photos is easy and super customizable as well. With the option to add passwords to galleries and set expiration dates for links we send to outside shareholders, we have more control over privacy and access to our photos. Through working with Libris, the customer service has been great. Questions are answered in a timely manner and the Libris staff is readily available through email or phone each day. We enjoyed our multiple training sessions and demos. The staff at Libris is willing to help in whatever way possible.

Cons: At times the software can run slow and I accidentally deleted 2,000 photos one time due to a display glitch on the backend site. After deleting the photos, I looked in the trash bin to find them but I could not, since there is no structure of collections or galleries in the trash bin. Instead, the photos were in the trash can in order according to date, which is not helpful when you already have other photos in the trash bin as well. I had no other choice but to re-upload the photos.

Overall: We use Libris for city government photo organizing/archiving. My department had over 5,000 photos to organize and Libris helped a daunting task become manageable and achievable. Having a place to organize photos properly makes our department function more efficiently and smoothly; we get many requests for photos on a daily basis. Libris makes photos searchable and easily findable with metadata tagging and keywords, which we love. Libris employees were there for us every step of the way during the initial set-up process and are still there for us currently with any questions we have.

Recommendations to other buyers: Libris is a great photo archiving/organizing software. We would definitely recommend it to other companies and businesses. However, know that organizing photos takes time, and doesn't happen over night. Once you develop a structure and system that makes sense to you, Libris can help out with ease of use, saving time, and having things run efficiently. Libiris requires time and effort from each company's admin initially, but it is well worth it to have a functional photo site in the end.

Libris and the LR plugin have become an important part of our daily workflow, with a few caveats.

Pros: Extreme ease of use, excellent tagging options, relatively responsive website and LR plugin. Reasonably quick upload speeds. I am a staff photographer at a regional publisher with 6+ magazines in production. I use Libris daily to file 3-4 assignments a day, 5 days a week.

Cons: A few minor issues - Libris' plugin occasionally throws a Javascript framework error (I am running the latest version of Adobe LR CC as of 8'14'17) during uploads. Oddly it happens with only one or two files in random sets of photos, and will function perfectly for everything else. The LR plugin also does not quickly or reliably download and display Gallery/Collection links in the LR plugin while being used in the Export dialog in Lightroom.

A customizable "home page" or a way to default Admin accounts to redirect automatically to a collection or gallery would be nice when logging into Libris on the web - I would rather login and start at the top of the root folder of our Library vs the default splash page that I get now, as most of the time I login to Libris to fix a tag or confirm I've uploaded files correctly from LR. I access this page several times a day and any time savings here would pay dividends in the long run given how much I access Libris.

Overall, it's a great product that could use a little UI and interface streamlining to minimize the number of clicks that power users need to perform an action. Right click functionality (a la dropbox) would also be better/faster than the current "Actions" dropdown tab.

If possible, upload setting "profiles" (image quality, image sizing, watermarking, etc) in the Libris LR plugin would also save people like me some time. Thanks!

Overall: Ease of use and user-friendly access for our Art Teams.

A great product for managing your digital media, but does have some limitations.

Comments: First and foremost I have to say the customer service Photoshelter provides for Libris users is absolutely wonderful. Their team gets back to you quickly with answers to your questions and is always pleasant to work with.

Libris truly shines in it's ability to easily organize and then later search for the images you need. You have the ability to set up the folder structure in any way that fits your needs (which is not something I say about the last product we were using) and the backend structure is so user friendly, it's a breeze to move collections, galleries, or even individual photos around after upload. All you need to do is grab them and drag and drop them into a different area.

On the search side of things, you have great control over the types of parameters you can give the search. Everything from searching for photos based on a specific orientation, to things photographed on certain dates...it's quite nice and the results are fast and (seemingly) very accurate.

Uploading is fast, and has a number of potential ways it can be integrated into your workflow, including a lightroom plugin.

As much as we like Libris overall, it is not without it's limitations and there are a couple of big ones we hope are eventually addressed.

The biggest one for us at the moment is Libris' inability to allow downloads without either a password or a user login. This is a bummer and is currently a bit clunky. We produce content for a wide range of people and we would like to make that content available for download to everyone, but the best you can do right now is put a password on everything and then try and make that password available to the public, which is just clunky and a bit odd. We really hope they implement a password and login free option soon.

Secondly, when you search for images there is no way to sort what we have searched for in the results page. Want to search for something and then sort by "date taken" or "date uploaded"? Not possible. The other slightly frustrating thing is there is no way to change the size of the image thumbnails in the galleries or search results. They are a bit small and it can sometimes be hard to see what the photo looks like until you click on it to make it larger.

Really there are so many things to like about Libris that I wouldn't say the above should be deal breakers, but they are things I think could really help improve it.

Pros: Libris is helping us build and share our Digital images with dozens of clients through out the university. Its easy to share contact sheets, fast download times and very clean and pleasant display of images. Love the ability to customize and use our Logo and color in the main page and use a copy rights watermark. Before Libris, we used to have a DAM that was painfully slow in all aspects. I've recommended Libris to other universities and they are also very pleased with what it offers.

Cons: One of the recurring issues that I constantly hear with some of our clients in the University is that sometimes, whey they search images in the library, they are asked to create a login info, and after that, they are told to contact the administrator. Seems there is a glitch in the system and I've contact their costumer service dept. but they still have not been able to fix it. We like the ability to easily download images using a password, but we don't want our clients to created "another" login in account. Makes no sense to have a "search" button if you can download the images you find in your search.

Pros: The different ways of getting images into the system is great. Speed is great. Batch editing image information once in the system is great (as long as you remember to click the APPEND button!! Maybe that should be on by default?)

Cons: There are a few glitches that sometimes generate errors during exporting from LR. For example I can't get the "Export with previous..." to work. And some functionality is still being developed, like the ability to make a lightbox downloadable with minimal effort. Everything I've stumbled with so far is minimal: things like the ability to resize columns and image previews in the browser. Not having various layout options except for the standard template. Minor things to enhance the user experience.

Overall: Two years ago we had images scattered all across various hard drives. Then we "MacGyver-ed" an asset collection based on Lightroom, which works wonderfully for one person but is not sharable in an office environment unless you jump through a bunch of hoops to tuck the catalog on the cloud and put all the images on a shared server, blah blah blah. But since we started using Libris about three months ago we've made tremendous progress in setting up our collections and starting to share them with various departments around campus. We're still barely scraping the surface on the possibilities Libris offers, and still have lots of work to do, to be sure. But finally our images are accessible to whomever we want to have access, with just a few clicks. And the customer support is second to none!

Recommendations to other buyers: I'd love it if the developers would include the ability to store video in the basic package. Charge more for space if you need to, but please don't have a separate tier for video/audio if you truly want to be an all-in-one visual DAM system.

Great product so far!

Pros: I like that it's on a cloud, which means we can access the photos at home or at work. It's also easy to give other people access, or to set up Lightboxes for them to view select photos. It's much easier than emailing photos like we used to have to do! We have shared it with several people on campus and they all say that it's been easy to use and easy for them to search for photos.

Cons: I wish that more than one person could be the administrator without having to upgrade to the next payment level. I'm still having a few issues when trying to view the photos --- I'd like them all to be visible on one page, not 20 pages, for example, but I know it's something I could probably figure out.

Overall: We purchased this product to use at a university. We needed something that could be shared across campus, allowing for folks to be able to search for the photos they needed. We also needed something that all 12 of us in our office could use at the same time, and something that was securely backed up.

Recommendations to other buyers: Put one person in charge when you get the system. That person can be your go-to person and can be the main contact with the company. It's best not to have too many cooks in the kitchen. Have one person figure out a way to tag the photos with keywords and be consistent in how you are tagging and organizing your photos. The more keywords that are available to search with, the better, so label your photos as much as possible.

Pros: Photoshelter has a great navigation structure that enables you to easily sort, navigate, and find the exact assets you're looking for. We can customize how we archive our photos, which is a huge help. The search function has numerous options that allow you to be as broad or specific as you desire. Additionally, the capabilities to limit who can see which photo sets and to track who downloads what provides brand security.

Cons: Preview images can take a while to load, although I'm not sure if that originates on with our IT infrastructure of Photoshelter's. Additionally, unless you are using an iMac, the metadata and gallery panels take up a substantial portion of your screen, limiting how many photos you can view at a time.

Pros: The ease of use, the built in FTP and the ability to access anywhere. Being a cloud based system makes it easy for us to transmit, archive or access from anywhere.

Cons: I don't have any thing that I don't like about this product. The cost is high, but everything that comes packaged into the product proves that the robust design has been well thought out from the user interface to the admin interface. Libris is build for the professional on the move.

Overall: The FTP service is my favorite hidden gem to the Libris. Being able to customize the archive and set up search and gallery perimeters for different users is great.

After testing several competitors, Libris was the easiest to use and nice visually as well.

Pros: Ability to create lots of galleries and collections to organize. I had years of image collection that I personally was keeping organized, but they were all over. I had a fresh opportunity to newly organize images into categories that make more sense, and get rid of duplicates that were taking up a lot of extra space. The ability to add my own metadata is great, though not sure we're going to be able to afford that option next year. I also like that I can give give full or limited access to team members. Sometimes people only need access to logos, or one area of the companies images. Nice to be able to control that.

Cons: Well it's always going to be cost. Especially with add-ons. But we had to bite the bullet and find a safe place for images that can be used and accessed with other co-workers.

Pros: it's web-based and centralized, so our department of 50+ can access photos anytime, anywhere. I like having a Lightbox to quickly sort through my favorite photos as well. It's streamlined our production process and has made it easier for us designers to be more self-sufficient.

Cons: I was not involved in the set-up or back-end of Libris, but it seems like our department is always having issues with our search results despite what I've heard have been several meetings with Libirs per our key-wording and adding descriptions. Most recently I was using the 'enter' key to submit a keyword search (instead of hitting the submit button), which created issues, bringing up non-keywords/non-global results. In my personal opinion, I'm not in love with the user design interface of the site. Per my rating of customer support, I have had no interactions, therefore have given a 'neutral' score.

Pros: The best aspects about Libris are its clean interface and ease of use. It has made my work incredibly more efficient because I am able to quickly search for photos by tags, name, and gallery location, and organize folders to my team's specifications. It was surprisingly easy to learn how to use and the interface is readable and light. Additionally, the Libris team is very helpful and friendly.

Cons: There are few things I dislike about this software. If I had to make one suggestion, I wish the software would automatically apply a cover image to folders to make it easier to differentiate them if we have forgotten to apply a cover image manually. I also think there could be some improvement with the Desktop Uploader. The interface is much less clean than the website and sometimes is laggy.

Pros: I love the ease of uploading and organizing images. The ability to create different galleries for different clients has freed up so much time and made it easy to communicate about photos.

Cons: I haven't found anything I don't like about Libris. I am looking forward to PhotoShelter expanding their mobile app for Libris.

Overall: I've been a user and fan of PhotoShelter for a long time, so when the college I work for was ready to shift to a cloud based DAM system, PhotoShelter's Libris product was my first choice. The admin side is easy to set up and navigate and the client side is clean and user friendly. The customer service is tops and everyone at my institution has been pleased with it.

Recommendations to other buyers: The Libris team loves helping photographers manage their images to enable them to sort and search less and shoot and create more. They stay up date on current trends in technology to ensure their clients always have the best of what's available.

Pros: This software allows you to catalog large quantities of photography and for and additional fee video. The ability for others to view and request photography is great.

Pros: I like that we can control who has permission in our company to see and download specific photos. It's also very helpful giving those permissions to people in other departments, because now they are able to download the photos they want themselves. We no longer have to stop working on time sensitive projects and do it for them, it saves us valuable time that we need as designers to do our job efficiently.

Cons: For some reason the app doesn't work on my phone, thats really the only thing that I would say I dislike the least.

Pros: The metadata tagging is key for us. We can quickly find photos of certain people in certain uniform combinations, day/night, etc. Not having to be in the office to get to photos is nice. It has also changed how we ingest photos in-game.

Cons: The PhotoShelter app on my iPhone has never worked for me. It could just be me. It would be handy to be able to access, email, download, text, etc. LibrisUploader works for us on phones and iPads.

Pros: Libris and Photoshelter's outward facing interface allowed for the creation of the Cornell Athletics Digital Library, allowing alumni, friends and fans access to this digital repository of Big Red history. Photos can be viewed for free or purchased for posterity. Video clips, game stories, newspaper clippings and more will be available for viewing and downloading.

It is both easy to navigate on the front end and simple to manage and search on the back end. it's upload and download time and quick send options also allow us to easily manage our media relations functions.

Cons: Batch downloading can sometimes be a challenge when needing things between nested folders, but that's a user problem. Software really has everything we need.

Overall: The creation of a Digital Library has allowed us to modernize and organize our digital assets, turning more than 125 years of history out of file folders and onto the web. The ability for researchers, alumni, fans, family and friends to find information that otherwise be hidden away will and has been a major advancement for our program.

Pros: Ability to share galleries with ease. Plus the ability to stop clients from downloading and using images incorrectly. The drag and drop feature is extremely useful. Moving folders within the frame seems to work well and I can copy files so that they appear in more than one collection at a time.

Cons: Haven't found a way to add metadata to multiple folders at a time. If there were a way to color code folders and galleries (and maybe there is) I feel it would be easier to organize files at a glance.

Overall: Being able to share particular galleries with different clients has made my job so much easier. I can spend more time designing now instead of saving files to CDs or Contact Sheets and e-mailing large files.

Pros: Ease of uploading the photos and tagging the photos. Great amount of customer support to help get us going. It is also evident that they are used to dealing with higher ed clients and had plenty of experience to fall back on when answering our specific questions.

Cons: Nothing immediately jumps to mind! It would be great if we could more easily manipulate the order folders (as they default to alpha-numeric ordering), but that feels very nitpicky. All in all, a great product.

Pros: Searchable tagged photos
We are able to share photos quickly with internal and external partners
Like being able to customize folders for particular job requests

Cons: The Libris connector really does not give our designers the easy access tools necessary for working with InDesign at a reasonable price. They are having to download the images first and use Adobe Bridge to connect. It also does not allow designers to drag and drop images when they just want to see how something might look in a quick and easy format unlike other programs.

Overall: We are now able to search edited images through tagged information and able to share and present images in an organized format.

Pros: Makes it very simple to share photos with other creatives in the company who need photos, as well as outside the company with password-protected galleries.

Cons: Biggest complaint from users is that public-facing galleries are difficult to navigate. Meaning that if you view a gallery and get halfway through it, click on a photo to enlarge/download it, the user then gets sent back to the beginning of the gallery and has to scroll through hundreds of photos to pick up where they left off. Would be awesome if the public galleries operated like the library, which keeps your place.

Overall: Better management of my team's photos both on the field and off the field.

Daily use of the product, however I wish asset sharing were easier for people without Libris.

Pros: All assets are centrally located.
I am able to create folders with links to share to internal and external parties.

Cons: Downloading various file sizes is not easy. There should be an easy selection process for the size of photo I would like to download.

Overall: All assets are centrally located and I am able to asset share using links.

Pros: The ability to batch update IPTC metadata was key for us. In addition, the ability to monetize our photo library is a feature we're interested in but have not utilized yet. Also, prior to implementing Libris, our team would have to load various logo/image assets onto flash drives before traveling to events. Now, we can browse our entire library anywhere we have an internet connection.

Cons: One challenge we've had is that not all photographers are comfortable with the upload process. We need to figure out how to make the upload process easier for our various freelancers.

Pros: Ease of Use. There is a very small learning curve and once you master the basics it inspires you to do more with the platform.

Cons: The only thing I can say is the time it takes to upload videos. Seems much slower than our Vimeo and youtube accounts.

Overall: When tasked with finding a DAM that can handle the assets of an entire University Medical System with dozens of users working in multiple locations throughout our state, Libris lead the competition by leaps and bounds.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make the plunge and you won't be disappointed. It may seem pricey at first but the cost is much cheaper than comparable platforms. It does everything we need with our assets without adding all of the complex layers of marketing.

Comments: We chose Libris for the broad set of features available in this system. We are a not-for-profit NGO working on a global scale. We needed a tool that would match our work and ambitions.

We use Libris for its indexing and organizing capabilities, rather than for commerce. Prior to Libris, we had been using a set of folders on a network server, however over time that became unwieldy and difficult to manage. Another advantage: Screening and sorting photos is much faster because the system optimizes images for viewing in a way that the old network drive, or other simpler cloud systems, could not do.

Libris offers a way to attach info for each image through its tagging system to help us keep track of the images we have, their source, and much more granular information. Incoming, the system makes it easy for photographers across world to upload images to the Libris cloud. Outgoing, we receive many photo requests from a wide variety of outlets, ranging from other partner organizations to publishers, both domestically and abroad. Libris enables our office staff to select individual photos and sent a specific link of the curated images for review and download by editors, printers and other organizations with whom we work.

The major downside, as with any complex cataloging tool, is that it takes time to manage and maintain the content. This is simply reality and not a fault of the system which makes many more things possible for us.

Pros: It's easy to make batch edits on IPTC info, keywords etc. It's also easy to share collections with people who have no knowledge of the way that photo archives and repositories work.

Cons: The search function needs some tweaking. I've been told by CS that this will be getting an update. But I do wish that the search tool searched more of the IPTC info other than just the caption and keyword.

Overall: The Photoshelter we use from Libris has been a godsend. It's so easy to use. It's easy to get other people to use it too.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure that photographer name is included in the caption info. Otherwise photographer name isn't searchable.

Using Libris have saved our team at Xavier countless hours.

Pros: The searchable database is a huge improvement over our previous solution of hosting photos within folders on a university server.

Cons: Would like more storage capacity for a cheaper price in order to store more GIF's, PSD files and videos.

Overall: The amount of time we've saved on photo requests is incalculable, whether it's an internal or media request. Being able to search keywords and names vs. digging through folders is a night and day difference.

Pros: Love the visual interface, the quickness, the intuitive layout. Super easy migration with a wide variety of upload methods. We were up and running in no time. Customer service team have been joy to work with and very responsive to questions and input for additional features. Quick and accessible sharing of photos makes collaboration very easy.

Cons: Expensive up front cost, adding storage adds extra cost. No notifications for folder actions or uploads at present, but I'm told they're coming.

Overall: Collaboration, ease of use, access to our complete archive .

Pros: PhotoShelter has helped us organize and share our photos for the first time in our organization's history.

Cons: There are a few quirks with the interface that I would like to see adjusted, but nothing that severely interferes with our workflow.

Overall: The ability to store and organize our photos in a single location; the ability for all our staff to view the metadata associated with each photo (and therefore keep track of captions, credit lines etc.); the ability to share our photos easily both with internal staff and external guests; the ability to sell our photos to start compensating the organization for the cost of the service.

Pros: The software is easy to use. The media/library organization is very efficient. Custom settings are very helpful in terms of allowing different kinds of customers to view images

Cons: Website customization is very limited. We sell globally but we are unable to receive payments into our bank account in India as yet. When we sell the same image to two different people, I am not able to customize the price. Sometimes, the price for an image changes based on who the customer is.

Pros: Ability to keyword search was helpful. Ability to comment on photos was also helpful, but the way the comments transferred wasn't always good for the way we were using it.

Cons: The galleries vs. lightboxes was not straightforward.

Despite keyword search functionality, it still proved difficult to find images we were looking for.

We had multiple groups selecting different photos for different uses, some which required exclusivity, and Libris was not ideal for managing this kind of photo sharing. We ended up just having to email our companywide team to make sure that all teams were ok with a particular photo being used for a particular purpose, because our sorting into lightboxes after viewing in galleries was not effective.

The photo viewing experience could also be improved. It seemed harder than it needed to be to scroll through photos. The user interface was not intuitive.

I've had no problems with Libris. It's easy to use and I love having all the photos in one spot.

Pros: The organization is amazing. I'm very OCD about having things altogether and this allows us to keep everything in an orderly manor. I love the sharing function as well. I've had to put together many albums for people and it's nice to share the link with them and they have access to that specific folder instead of all our pictures.

Cons: The only problems I've had were with the users of the software not the software itself. I have no other cons.

Overall: Ease of access and organization to photos.

Pros: I love that I can easily create folders and upload photos to share with members of our team here on campus. I love that Libris is user friendly and has amazing customer support.

Cons: One thing that I would like to have added is an easier way to share photos with those who do NOT have a Libris acct. When I send out a link to photos outside of our team some have a hard time access with the password etc...

Overall: ORGANIZED Photo archive for large campus.

Pros: I like the ability to upload a mass amount of videos. Most softwares have a cap, but Libris Photoshelter does not. I also like the customization that you are given to order your images in each gallery.

Cons: I do not like that you cannot customize the orders of the collections. They appear alphabetically which is not the most successful strategy for our brand.

Overall: If all you want is a software to hold images on, this is great. It does not have any dynamic features.

COMMENTS:
We vetted nearly ten DAM solutions before choosing Libris, so its safe to say I have good knowledge of what's out there.. I can tell you that no others compare! Initially when we purchased it was about pricing since they are half the price of any other full DAM. Yet, it didn¿t take long for my staff and our entire organization to realize how powerful Libris is. We rely on Libris to help us manage all our company assets and because its so intuitive with such top notch customer service, we were able to adopt completely within a couple weeks! It has allowed us to centralize our assets, make them searchable through keyboarding & metadata, and organize everything into manageable collections and galleries. What¿s even more important is that Libris allows my team of 5ppl to control the visibility and access for the different assets we have. We¿re able to setup different permissions for specific collections so that only the right people have the ability to view and download those assets. They offer really simple sharing options which makes it easy to send files to teammates and outside vendors, and there's even reporting features so we can monitor who¿s downloaded what and which images are most viewed, etc. Libris has been a GODSEND for our organization.

Very easy to use from the content manager's side. Uploading process for contributors can be tedious.

Pros: The ability to access photos from an online source rather than use up space on my desktop. I like that the photos are shown as thumbnails that are easy to view rather than a long list of file names. The ability to easily tag photos and search by tag/keyword is extremely helpful.

Cons: We have had significant issues when outside contributors use the uploading software (including FTP, desktop uploader and web uploader). There seems to be no way to upload photos within a folder organization - when our photographers have tried to do this, we end up with one huge batch of individual photos rather than neatly-organized folders. The only apparent solution is to upload each folder one at a time, which is time-consuming. This system could be much more streamlined and user-friendly.

Libris has been an extremely helpful tool and completely changed my workflow for the better.

Pros: The ability to have our entire archive accessible 24/7 through a website and the ease of use in sending photos at any time of the day. Our front office is using photos in a more timely manner and the search function has aided their endeavor for photos rather that our previous method of going through folder-by-folder on a server.

Cons: That there is no app available yet for mobile devices. Working in sports and the need for immediate access to photos, a mobile app is almost a necessity. Once an app is created, that will immensely help our workflow as a team.

Overall: My job is much easier, simple as that. It aids myself, but more importantly, aids our front office to access our digital archive in a much quicker and timely manner, especially when away from the office setting.

Pros: It's well-designed and user-friendly, allowing us to manage our internal image database. One of the greatest things about Libris that was never available in the earlier PhotoShelter system was the support - videos, blog, help, updates, etc. All very helpful in keeping up, and with learning about features we are not using.

Cons: Haven't run into any major setbacks to speak of. We still have confusion about users, groups and permissions. My staff seems to indicate that it always seems harder than it should to get permissions set and notifications sent out.

Overall: Our use of Libris is to manage our internal image database, making it available through password-protected log ins to our workers around the world. Unlike other products we had considered, this solves our problem well.

Pros: We are able to deliver files in a timely fashion to a multi faceted group of Art Directors in the creative departments of several Magazines and web sites which are fed by our Photo team. For the most part, access is quick and corrections to ant galleries can be made efficiently with a minimum of fuss.

Cons: At our company and this point Libris is in the Honeymoon stage and I've found little that would constitute a "Con". There have been a few glitches while attempting to use the Libris/Lightroom plug in but these were insignificant and did not cause too much of a distraction.. It would be nice to see a Capture One upload possibility sometime in the future.

Pros: The software makes it easy to attribute image rights to the content creators. It also allows for integration into a larger campaign framework which has been critical to our strategy.

Cons: Overall it is good. One of the areas we struggle with is the user friendliness of the management portal. We have a virety of contributors logging in and managing the material. Some of these users are not informed on modern UX . There is a bit of room to improve upon the "intuitive-ness" of the back end.

Libris is easy to set up and use. My clients really enjoy the ability to search by keyword.

Pros: What I love most about Libris DAM is the ability to export directly from Adobe Lightroom while keeping all the metadata and keywords. This saves me a lot of time in tagging assets during the uploading process and also allows me to maintain the same file structure.

Cons: I wish I can drag and drop users to group them instead of having to type out the group name under each user.

Overall: Saves us time when fulfilling client request for assets. Ability to share assets with multiple users with different levels of rights and permissions.

Pros: I think this software is ideal for organizing photos, it's very easy to use for all users and has many excellent options. I can also share other types of files like as documents or videos without size limit.

Cons: First, Its price is high and second, sometimes it can be a bit confusing for any users. Especially when they want to download files, I think it should be a little easier.

Overall: This software has helped me to organize my photo gallery and also all my work in an efficient way

Pros: It is very user-friendly and takes organization to a whole new level. It is so easy to go in and locate archived photos or videos in just a few simple clicks! There is no other software like it on the market.

Cons: There are very few cons when it comes to Libris. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that it is a little bland and slightly interface, although not sure how much they can liven it up without sacrificing the software's efficiency.

Adopting Libris for our image and graphic needs is one of the best decisions we've ever made!

Comments: Libris is a breath of fresh air for those who have to maintain a digital asset library for their company. The ability to manage all or selected photo assets quickly and seamless makes it easy to stay on top of your digital assets when their are multiple stakeholders involved. The backend user admin panel is easy to use and navigate. You can also assign staff permissions to be able to make certain changes on the site if needed, like content editing. Libris also produces beautiful looking website that allow the user to view and download the photo assets.

While the backend and admin are great, I would like to see additional improvements to the ability to customized the website a little more then your able to now. However, I would highly recommend looking into Libris as an option for digital assets management and distribution.

Pros: One storage place to rule them all, with shared tags, custom tags, unlimited contributors. We especially like that photos can live in multiple galleries.

Cons: Permissions can be tricky to get right, and the sales system is not the easiest. Also, we are still working on a good system where contributor photos can be easily integrated into our archives without creating a heavy workload for the administrators.

Overall: Better storage, speed, and organization of photos.

Pros: It allows us to be as organized to the highest degree. Which is something that we need. I haven't fully experienced everything about Libris, but I am certainly looking forward to using going on. It also makes it easier for me to get photos from the photographers when they are out of the office, (more than likely shooting something new). But it allows me access without them having to essentially hand deliver me photos to use.

Cons: Sometimes the organization can be a hindrance. Having to go through extra steps just because of how organized it is. I'm not a huge fan of having to given permission to everything. I had a problem that every time I needed to get something I had to be given permissions or something. EVERY TIME i tried to get a file. But that was corrected.

Pros: This saves a lot of time where I used to burn multiple CDs/DVDs just to share photos with the clients. Now all I have to do is send a link to the client so they can see their photos.

Cons: There really is not anything I do not like about this software. It makes my job so much easier! But if I had to say something, it takes a little getting used to, but that happens with all new software.

Pros: I feature where you can share galleries with specific people by email is very nice. Although the interface for it could be better.

Cons: The interface is the most inefficient. I would love it if more things were accessible with fewer clicks (ie key shortcuts or a right click mouse menu). The gallery pages refresh constantly without warning which makes me lose the selections I have on images.

Pros: Very user friendly. Really clean display for the public. Excellent customer service

Cons: It would be nice to be able to have additional parts of our metadata shown with each image. There is currently no way to change what is shown, and there is not a lot shown.

Overall: For our needs, I think this product is going to be really invaluable. The overall look for the public is very clean and neat. The ability to share and give downloading permissions for images is excellent and easy to do. The only downside is that only a small amount of the metadata is shown, and there is no way to change what parts we can/cannot show. You can however search by things such as city/location which is helpful. Overall, this is a really great product and I would recommend it to anyone who has similar needs as ours. Very user friendly! Also the customer service is excellent and responds very quickly

Comments: Libris and PhotoShelter provide a comprehensive solution for our digital assets management needs at a competitive price. We needed a stable platform, ease of use for clients as well as system administrators, competitive cost of storage, robust search, collaborative features, e-storefront and responsive customer support, all wrapped in an attractive package. Libris met all of these needs. Our clients love using it. I've tried several other services since 2005, and I highly recommend giving Libris a try.

I also don't like that if I click on a photo and use the arrow keys to start scrolling back and forth, when I click back to the tiled selection - it hasn't followed me.
