Not pleasant. I was hoping this software would be more useful and be more intuitive.

Pros

It holds my digital assets in one place.

Cons

This software is not friendly for video. I'm unable to bulk-change assets if any videos are selected, and singling them out is not easy to do. I also don't like that you have to create an image to be the placeholder photo for a folder, even if the only assets you need/want to have in that folder are videos. It is difficult to filter through our assets. My team and I spent hours adding custom meta data to our assets just to realize that we don't have a way to filter through them. It is also not convenient that video takes a long time to upload and you can't exit out to another page to work on other tasks. If you can help with any of the above issues please let me know.

The FTP service is my favorite hidden gem to the Libris. Being able to customize the archive and set up search and gallery perimeters for different users is great.

Pros

The ease of use, the built in FTP and the ability to access anywhere. Being a cloud based system makes it easy for us to transmit, archive or access from anywhere.

Cons

I don't have any thing that I don't like about this product. The cost is high, but everything that comes packaged into the product proves that the robust design has been well thought out from the user interface to the admin interface. Libris is build for the professional on the move.

Pros

Photoshelter has a great navigation structure that enables you to easily sort, navigate, and find the exact assets you're looking for. We can customize how we archive our photos, which is a huge help. The search function has numerous options that allow you to be as broad or specific as you desire. Additionally, the capabilities to limit who can see which photo sets and to track who downloads what provides brand security.

Cons

Preview images can take a while to load, although I'm not sure if that originates on with our IT infrastructure of Photoshelter's. Additionally, unless you are using an iMac, the metadata and gallery panels take up a substantial portion of your screen, limiting how many photos you can view at a time.

Our organization uses Libris for media photos to include with press releases, and as a repository for high quality images to be used on our website and marketing materials.

Pros

The site is very simple and place your photos front and center.

Cons

Without using the API, there seems to be not simple way to export and embed a collection or gallery on a webpage.

The sharing, tagging and permission features have all been fantastic for our company. Libris is exactly what our company had been missing for years!

Pros

Libris has already saved our company countless of hours wasted when it comes to our digital assets. The ability for everyone to upload, manage and share our company's digital assets has completely streamlined the way our company handles online digital assets. Also, their customer support has been magnificent.

Cons

We have ran into a couple minor issues with permissions of some users. So far it has not resulted in anything major, but it is still something we have been in contact over.

We implemented during a transitional time for PhotoShelter that introduced new product feature tiers. This change increased the complexity of our implementation but our Libris team was very helpful throughout the transition.

Pros

The solution is easy to use, reliable, able to effectively manage our digital asset collection, offers great sharing capabilities and supports a wide range of file types.

Cons

The solution wasn't as polished as some alternatives at the time of review. However, the functionality, price and support model were right.

Better management of my team's photos both on the field and off the field.

Pros

Makes it very simple to share photos with other creatives in the company who need photos, as well as outside the company with password-protected galleries.

Cons

Biggest complaint from users is that public-facing galleries are difficult to navigate. Meaning that if you view a gallery and get halfway through it, click on a photo to enlarge/download it, the user then gets sent back to the beginning of the gallery and has to scroll through hundreds of photos to pick up where they left off. Would be awesome if the public galleries operated like the library, which keeps your place.

A number of our marketing staff work remotely, and connecting to our image servers via VPN was proving problematic. Libris provided an excellent solution for serving up the best images quickly and painlessly.

Pros

Libris is very user-friendly. We've used other cloud-based image libraries and Libris is by far the best so far.

Cons

What I like least isn't about our software, it's that our administrator doesn't update imagery fast enough!

Cons

Never used the customer support so may be missing out on features. The download button seems to move sometimes.

It is overall ok. I only use it on a fairly surface level so I can't speak to all of it's features.

Pros

I like the overall UI within Photoshelter. It's fairly intuitive and I can easily organize collections and galleries as needed.

Cons

I don't like how difficult it is to use the Lightbox. It is a tool my team and I use frequently, but the UI/UX within Lightbox is not well optimized. (Can't select / download multiple images at once, reload entire page to cycle through images, etc)

Pros

Ability to create lots of galleries and collections to organize. I had years of image collection that I personally was keeping organized, but they were all over. I had a fresh opportunity to newly organize images into categories that make more sense, and get rid of duplicates that were taking up a lot of extra space. The ability to add my own metadata is great, though not sure we're going to be able to afford that option next year. I also like that I can give give full or limited access to team members. Sometimes people only need access to logos, or one area of the companies images. Nice to be able to control that.

Cons

Well it's always going to be cost. Especially with add-ons. But we had to bite the bullet and find a safe place for images that can be used and accessed with other co-workers.

We had trouble finding a single source of truth for our content, and now we have a platform where we can organize and streamline which of our franchise locations get access to specific content. Its a great way to filter and maintain a single source of truth.

Pros

I love the customer service-- our rep is out of sight. The platform does pretty much anything you need for it to do; but because the WYSIWYG is so basic, the capability to customize the backend even more would be good.

Cons

There isn't anything negative about it, per se. Once you learn how to use it (biggest key here) it is a very functional and supportive site to use.

Pros

It is way to upload images into Libris. I like the fact that you can down load various file sizes and file resolutions. There are lots of metadata options.

Cons

The Gallery organization is static. I would prefer to organize the galleries alphabetically, or to group them some other way, while others in our department want to see them chronologically. I haven't found that it is possible to customize in that way. I wish it would ask to name files as they are uploaded so I didn't have to go back and name them after they have been uploaded. AI with face recognition would be an extremely useful addition.

Pros

The ability to batch update IPTC metadata was key for us. In addition, the ability to monetize our photo library is a feature we're interested in but have not utilized yet. Also, prior to implementing Libris, our team would have to load various logo/image assets onto flash drives before traveling to events. Now, we can browse our entire library anywhere we have an internet connection.

Cons

One challenge we've had is that not all photographers are comfortable with the upload process. We need to figure out how to make the upload process easier for our various freelancers.

Cons

The price is the only thing that would ever make us consider trying another product. With companies tightening their budgets, I could see how this would be a stumbling block for some.

Customer service has been amazing and responsive. Our solution works fairly well for our sales team (we use Libris as a sales tool where our sales reps create and share lightboxes). Would like to see a facelift to some of their features and some personalization added but we are quite happy we went with Libris.

Pros

It's easy to set up and the Adobe connector makes it easy to import/tag your photos. The presentation of the galleries is really nice, simple and the customer support for this product is beyond stellar.

Cons

Lightbox features in their current form are very underwhelming, but they are getting a facelift at some point. Some features like sending photos or lightboxes to multiple people are not included. Cannot change how the search page looks at all whether you use all of those options to tag your images or not.

Reason for choosing PhotoShelter for Brands

The idea of using those lightboxes, the ease of the product and the Adobe connector.

Pros

I think this software is ideal for organizing photos, it's very easy to use for all users and has many excellent options. I can also share other types of files like as documents or videos without size limit.

Cons

First, Its price is high and second, sometimes it can be a bit confusing for any users. Especially when they want to download files, I think it should be a little easier.
