Pros: I like that I can forward receipts to an email, I like that it pulls the info from the receipt and that I can search for info to pull up relevant receipts

Cons: I don't like that I always need to switch accounts when I sign it, I don't get why I have an account in my name and I have to switch to the business one (I purchased it for business). The info taken from receipt images are not always correct and makes it hard to find and reconcile. Also don't like that it doesn't account well for different currencies, we are a Canadian company but deal with many currencies.

Overall: Receipt storage, less printing, email forwarding receipts

Comments: Maybe there are other solutions out there that compete, but I haven't found them. Shoeboxed has been my go to application for a couple years now and I tell everyone about them. It's the simplest concept that I cannot live without. You take pictures of your receipts and it directly imports them into my accounting software. It let's you know in the phone app when it cannot read certain data but otherwise it's pretty dependable. I cannot live without this app.

Pros: I get an email with each submission so I know it went through. I can categorize receipts and even add notes when I submit. The pictures are always saved.

Cons: Sometimes it does the wrong date or wrong amount but it's rare. working with email receipts can sometimes be annoying.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do it. It's the best. Stop carrying around receipts in your wallet and then attaching them to an expense report. Just keep track of them here.

Pros: Receipts can be viewed, downloaded, and printed. Filters are really useful and make searching for receipts quick and easy

Cons: Lots of mistakes such as typos. Vendors can be entered multiple times due to poor spelling and typos. I have to manually edit receipts in order to get the vendor names consistent. I suggest those doing the data entry look at previous receipts or have an auto-fill feature so that vendors aren't entered multiple times. Non-receipts are entered as receipts by automatic email link. For example my dinner reservation was entered as a receipt. Order confirmations were entered as receipts also which resulted in a single purchase being entered multiple times into my account. Mobile app is useful but doesn't support long receipts. I suggest allowing multiple pictures to support long receipt like other mobile apps do

Comments: I'm a freelance illustrator (self-employed/small business) and way behind on taxes (have been delaying b/c of my lack of organization). I have years and years of receipts saved up in shoeboxes/chest of drawers that I have to pile through. I spent a few hours researching the best app to use to do this. After downloading a lot of software, I finally settled on SHOEBOXED. I'm going to slowly pile through my receipt (snapping photos of them) and find my write offs. The images are organized by the company and are searchable (in case you ever get audited). You can even just mail them your receipts (that doesn't work for me as well b/c I have to find my write offs). But going forward I'll probably use that service as well. None of these reasons are why I'm actually leaving this review (see Pros below).

Pros: Having just downloaded the app on my phone I still had some questions about the functionality of the app and its service (are the receipts searchable...how so? ...how are they organized?). I decided to call...low and behold someone answered. I can't tell you how helpful CRM was on the phone. He spoke clearly and answered my random (and very specific) questions concisely. He helped me find which package was best for me and my situation (thousands of receipts piled up for years) ...without hard selling me on anything. I hadn't even signed up for the service officially yet and he sent a quick follow-up email. It was a very calming experience in the stressful situation that is my tax headache. If any higher ups are reading this... I'd recommend giving CRM a big fat raise, but don't promote him to your department ...unless you want to be working for him soon. I'm seriously impressed that I could download a very functional/helpful phone app and a few minutes later be able to call and talk to an actual service representative with no hold, no dial tone button pressing, who was completely knowledgeable about the product he was supporting. My entire field is full of self-employed workers and I'll be recommending this product to every single one because of the experience I had with the app and the customer service.

Cons: The only way to sign in to leave this review was through LinkedIn...a site I haven't used in 8 years (and was attached to old email accounts/password) and frankly...annoyed me with all their updates/emails. BUT, the customer service experience was so good...I'll eat the next 8 years of annoying Linkin update emails...hopefully they don't get hacked again (didn't that happen like 5 years ago).

Recommendations to other buyers: The best app I found for organizing receipt. Download the free version. They let you do 5 free recites...you'll know if you'll like it from there. I'm going to use this to keep my receipts in order and probably use quick books for actually filing (they automatically track your right off miles and sync into turbo tax). I highly recommend the actual numbers you put into those services be cultivated/organized with SHOEBOXED.

Comments: We are a construction contractor with tons of paper receipts, so Shoeboxed was a great fit. Easy to use, reasonably fast turnaround. But late last year, four "magic envelopes" were lost en route to Shoeboxed. Not their fault, but it does require us to either pay for shipping with tracking or find another solution. We chose the latter

Pros: Excellent value, good turnaround times, friendly customer service

Cons: Relies on the Postal Service to deliver receipts both ways.

Recommendations to other buyers: Either copy receipts before sending to Shoeboxed, or send with tracking

Comments: I find the service to be incredibly helpful in keeping me and my wife organized. We recently purchased a new home and keeping up with all of the receipts can become a nightmare. My favorite aspect of the service is the mobile application on my iPhone. I just snap a picture of a receipt while I out and feel a lot better knowing it will be stored within my Shoeboxed account.

A really great tool to get rid of my pile of receipts.

Comments: I was looking for a tool to reduce of my receipt clutter. As a small business owner, tracking receipts can become quite the hassle. I really love the Magic Envelopes, as I just stuff all of my receipts into them and drop them into the mail. Shoeboxed takes care of the rest and my receipts will be uploaded to my account within a few days. All-in-all I have been very happy using Shoeboxed.

Comments: I'm a small business owner of a company with 4 people. I downloaded the Shoeboxed iPhone app about a year ago and was using it to keep track of expenses that I needed to reimburse myself for. I then found out that Shoeboxed also offers prepaid envelopes. Now, my entire team shoves our bills and receipts in them and they are scanned and available online in just a few days.

Pros: The accuracy of the app is great (I'd say about 97%) and the prepaid envelopes are a service that I don't think anyone else out there offers. I also called in one time to check on the status of an envelope and the customer support was great.

Cons: The free version of the app only allows you 5 scans per month which was a lot less than I needed. I am now on the classic premium plan.

Excellent switch for QuickBooks!

Comments: Needed something to account for my sales people's receipts. Switched to Shoeboxed and using Expense Cloud. For what I am using it for (seemless QuickBooks integration of credit card charges), Shoeboxed is WAY ahead of Expense Cloud! I have been extremely satisfied and would recommend anyone to try their software.

Pros: Great categorization! can import chart of accounts, make rules for vendors, and effortless export to QuickBooks!

Cons: Would like to be able to edit category names once imported from Chart of Accounts. Would also like to upload CSV files to create smaller list for Chart of Accounts upload - tedious to remove categories that do not apply to my sales people.
