i use Brightwheel daily for daycare communications for my child.

Pros

being able to check in and out my child contactless and process payments through the app.

Cons

I really did not find that there was a feature I did not like. more like features I did not use on the system.

I really dislike the customer service feature as I have already discussed. The app is ok, it gets the job done.

Pros

I like that I can communicate with the parents and they can see how their children are doing throughout the day. As a daycare provider, I also like the billing feature and the fact that my parents have receipts and tax info at their fingertips.

Cons

It can be a little difficult to navigate at first. Adding photographs can be difficult as well. The video upload is only for 30 seconds it should at least be a minute. The one thing that I really dislike is not being able to talk to someone on the phone. When you need help, you want it right away. With brightwheel you have to message them for help and it can become quite upsetting as your dialogue is not in real time. You have to wait hours and sometimes days for help.

This app really help me to connect with my child learning and with school teachers and staff. It helps me with all management about my child care and save me time to spend with him.

Pros

Brightwheel surprised with some features like health care and meals management, in adition to financial management and billing, that makes me save hours per week to have more time with my childs.

Cons

I need this app to be home management too and it will become the best app ever. Seriously, they can improve or add a better classroom for learning from home.

Sometimes when trying to set up new families, the ap (on the parent's end) will ask for a code; identifying which school. I was never given/provided with a code, so sometimes I have to delete the child and start over to see if the parent is able to obtain the 4-digit code.

Pros

We can do everything with this app. It's great! Parents can sign their child in/out, which is perfect for state regulations. Parents can see what their child is up to throughout the day by way of 30 second videos, pictures, messages, notes, meals served and quantity of food each child ate, incident reports, medications administered and bathroom breaks. There is also a custom icon, and if you are a staff member of a facility with multiple rooms, you can move the children from one room to another, so parents and staff know where their child is at at all times. There is a calendar, observation section and you can even do billing! I couldn't imagine NOT using Brightwheel. It is so quick, easy and comprehensive. Each child is separate and each profile affords space for all pertinent information, including doctor/dentist information, address, parent contact, emergency contacts, allergies, medications, and DOB. It is very inexpensive an parents are able to know what their child did, rather than trying to ask the busy staff or ask their child. Multiple members can be added to a profile and all receive a 4-digit code for signing their child in/out of care. I would recommend it a million times over! Awesome Ap!

Cons

Wish the videos could be longer and you had the option to crop/edit the pictures and video length.

The customer service is amazing! We are extremely pleased with how easy they made the switch from our old system. Every time we've had a question we have received a more than helpful response from their support staff. My employees love it and our parents love it.

Pros

The Brightwheel app enables our employees to easily communicate with parents anytime of day or night and keeps them from giving out their personal phone numbers. The system is very user friendly and has easy to follow instructions and prompts.

Cons

The reporting from a financial side is not very clear if you are coming from another system with a lot of information in reports. Inputting immunizations could be a little quicker like putting a date and selecting the immunizations that were given on the date would be great.

Classroom organization and parent communication.

Pros

The idea is great. Parents love seeing pictures and getting updates in a feed format. Great for messaging parents in a selected classroom.

Cons

There's absolutely no way to prep for the next school without the rooms going live and parent invites being sent. If a family sends a message, the admin must know off the top of their head which classroom the student is because the app won't take you directly to the message when you click on the notification. You have to use notes or allergies to mark food preferences such a vegetarian or vegan. When working on a desktop, there's are at least 3 extra clicks just to view a student's profile. Click on a student's name. Click Apply. Click again on the student's name. A lot of wasted time due to poor design. The Reports functionality leaves a lot to be desired. Toggling In or out when clearly a parent is trying to log their child out is superfluous.

I have used similar products and this is by far the best!

Pros

I use this for communication with my children’s daycare. We can’t easily send messages to each other about the kids. I love the updates throughout the day and the ability to look in on my kids while I’m at work. We can also share updates with friends and family.

Cons

I am not able to share my own pictures with the staff, only they can post pictures.

Pros

Brightwheel is a great tool to communicate with parents. We've had several parents say that getting our updates is the best part of their day. We love it for communicating with parents!

Cons

I wouldn't say there are any 'cons' with the software - just areas of improvement. As an administrator I'd love to be able to communicate with teachers through Brighwheel. We currently use email but it would be awesome to communicate as a staff via Brightwheel. :) Also, the calendar tool is great but it is difficult to update - just making it easier to put in closure dates all at once. I'd also love a staff scheduling tool. We use a different app for scheduling - all our communication in one place would be awesome!

Before Brightwheel, we tracked attendance with printed excel spreadsheets and communicated by smoke signals- or so it felt. Trying to locate information was a nightmare and parents would miss out on events because we couldn't get the messages to them. We also have the student profile readily available.

Pros

Communicates to parents where their kids are and what they are doing throughout their day. We also love the messaging tool and recently started tracking payroll through the app. It cuts down on paperwork and give us a quick and easy way to track students and staff.

Cons

Some of the features we don't use kind of muddle options but it isn't so bad we have trouble using the software.

The support staff is very helpful. If they don't have a particular feature they try to figure out a way to work around it. many of those requests or suggestions later become a built in feature in the system. They are always improving to keep up with the many needs of both teachers and administrators.

Pros

It was easy to set up and we love how it helps the parents stay engaged in their child's learning.

Cons

We use the billing feature. It's great to have an all in one solution but many times we are surprised when they release new updates and don't know about them until after the release. The updates are good improvements my concern has been the delay in communication.

Several high-level features are available in the free version, unlike other tools.but Email Studio was one of the first things I was able to pick up pretty quickly.

Cons

Switching from this to Marketing Cloud is a big adjustment, i.e. pixel art sprites), I wouldn't use them for long. Also, the monthly subscription is VERY expensive.

Brightwheel has been a time saver and we love all the perks it has.

Pros

It is so important to maintain daily communication with the parents. Parents love when we update with pictures and videos. It has become an essential tool in our school.

Cons

Some of the parents have a hard time signing their child in or out. The app looks different on different phones and some of the parents state that they can't see their code making it difficult for attendance.

I use this software everyday and also during weekends to communicate with parents. I love my brightwheel apps because it is really easy to use and to post updates about my students. Parents love it too because they are able to see what their kids are doing and also communicate with schools staff.

Pros

What I like the most is not only that it is easy to use but also that you can post almost everything from videos to pictures and almost all activity that kids are doing everyday

Cons

What I like least about this software is that you only can post 30 sec videos and me, as a teacher, I need to pay attention to the time lapse when I am recording and activity

Being able to communicate with my kid's school and keep up with her while she's there. Also, easy to pay the school by setting up automatic payments.

Pros

This app is great! I can keep up with my kid while she's at school and get photos and videos of her in class, and know her schedule like when she takes a nap.. Other great features include being able to check my kid in and out of class by scanning a QR code, messaging with her teachers, and setting up automatic payments with the school. Great app.

Cons

This isn't really a con, but a fact of reality. The app is really only as useful as the person using it on the other side. If my kid's teacher didn't take pictures, note when she went to sleep or woke up, or didn't respond to messages, it wouldn't really be of any use.

Again, I truly appreciate having communication with my children's teachers throughout the day. We are a busy family and I work full-time, but this helps alleviate some worries and stress.

Pros

Our daycare provider uses this software and as a working Mom it is very nice to have the technology available to stay in touch throughout the day. It is fairly simple to use and when I did have a problem the support team returned my email quickly.

Cons

It is sometimes quite slow. There is a long delay when I check the kids in our their Dad picks them up. I don't often get notifications for 15 - 20 minutes later. This can cause unnecessary stress when worried about whether they got picked up on time or if they need assistance. I will also not utilize the payment features because it requires tiny deposits into my personal bank account just to set up a payment method. Seems like outdated technology and makes me nervous. Some other small issues I believe are due to the provider not utilizing the technology to it's full potential which is not a software issue, but may be something for Brightwheel to consider when evaluating the training offered to facilities.
