Easy for simulating oil refining systems

I've used Simsci ProII in plant simulation.

Pros: The thing I love the most about Simsci and more specifically about ProII is it's basic excercises that come in the library, they help you understand all the process flow diagrams and it helps you to easily understand the way the simulator works. For plant simulations it can be a helpful tool to calculate mass balance and eficiency, and also for construction planning, since you can add several new equipments (such as dehydrators, water coolers, oil exchangers), and predict the way oil, water and gas will behave once the new equipments are implemented.
Cons: It can be really difficult to install in the server of a company. The moment we installed it in the company I was working at the moment we had several license issues.
Overall: It helped us develop a procurement plan for new equipments to be installed in an oil processing plant since we were able to simulate the new conditions we were going to experiment once the production was increased
Great simulation software

Pros: I've used ProII software from simsci and it is a really robust simulation software that allows precise industrial plant siimulations. It's flow diagram based simulations are really straightforward and it's predictions are really accurate.
Cons: It can be really challenging when first using it. Since it's a really specific software there is almost no help online, so you really depend on the built in tutorial.
Overall: ProII helped in predicting several scenarios in the plant, and to calculate the parameters for designing a new water processing system.

Precise simulation of oil plants

Pros: Acurate process design, excellent graphics, facilitates process simulation.
It has eveything that a process engineer needs for plant design and evaluation
Cons: Requires prior training for its use, systems support should be more accessible
Use it for the area of hydrometallurgical processes.

Pros: I liked the speed of the runs of the mass and energy balances as well as the incorporation of the environmental variable as part of the optimization of the processes
Cons: What I did not like is that it does not have a lot of support information in the case of metal recovery processes. I would like it to include separation processes for the Coltan
Pros: I really like how easy it is to use Simsci, especially ProII, you can simulate a whole oil processing plant really fast just by getting to know the design parameters of exchangers, dehydrators, coolers and other machinery and the thermodynamic models that apply to your system.
Cons: You really need to know a lot of chemestry, because simsci's help is not going to help you a lot when choosing your thermo model or oil components.
Overall: I absolutely love ProII, it is easy from the start and all of the tutorials it has really help you, I would love if they helped you more in choosing thermodynamic models and sometimes the oil component area can be a little bit confusing
