Pros: Intuitive and ergonomic functionality. It keeps files up to date and automatically supersedes old files.

Cons: The cost to share with other team members. If I have a project that has multiple subs that have a Project Manager, Asst Project Manager, Field Superintendent and Foreman who need to have the most updated drawings and each has to pay the fee then it gets pricey on their end. So I think Plan Grid should sell package/licenses s to subcontractor teams so they can distribute to their team in-house which you screen through their email address.

Overall: Plan grid has been useful for our team to be one step ahead of the game in document control. I am currently working on a larger project with multiple files, especially ASIs. As a result, the overlay capabilities makes it easier to keep up with drawings that have been superseded and have the most current jobs in the field.

I like the ability to tag drawings by discipline and in my case phases. The ability to hyperlink drawings to compile an as-built set or update current drawings with referenced RFIs, ASIs or SK drawings is extremely useful.

I wish that plan grid would allow users that admins share files (i.e. subcontractors) have the ability not to pay. I think the GC should be responsible for payment , management, and distribution of files. Plan grid should sell perhaps licenses to the GC company and not charge individual subs a monthly fee just to review drawings. As a result, after the trial period ended none of the subs for my job signed up to use Plan Grid. Consequently, I've been using Bluebeam Revu Studio which has similar capabilities and users download a free software through Bluebeam that allows access to all the project folder and files. What Plan Grid has over Bluebeam currently is the OCR to recognize sheet names through the plan index and this is a standard feature; however, in order for Bluebeam to mimic Plan Grids basic principle, it seems like an added cost. Overall I like the software for in-house management but as far as the sharing it with the subs and getting them to use it for a project entirety it has been a struggle. Therefore I think they should either consider lowering the rates for additional users.

Recommendations to other buyers: For viewing on PC , if there is an older version have a big red stamp that says SUPERSEDED or OLD VERSION flash across the screen so the user knows he is in the older version. I think there is a caution like a symbol on the tablet version, but it is not as obvious on the PC platform.

Comments: My company has been using PlanGrid for 3+ years. Our senior managers and field supervisors all use the program on company provided iPads. Since incorporating the use of PlanGrid into our daily operations, we no longer use paper hard copies of plans (we only provide those now for plan check, etc.) so blueprinting costs have reduced to near $0- and more than covers the cost of the PlanGrid subscription. As the tech application guru for our company, I'm constantly looking at and am reviewing new or improving programs that are coming to or are already in the market. There are other companies now with similar applications, but I don't find any of them to be near as good as PlanGrid. The scaled dimension and quantities takeoff features that PlanGrid has especially cannot be beat by any of their competitors; these are features that most others don't have, but has proven to be very valuable in our daily use. The great thing about PlanGrid that I learned as a fairly early user is that the founders weren't simply really good software programmers/engineers, but that they also had a really in depth knowledge of the construction industry. In my estimation PlanGrid really nailed it as to what the construction industry needs for portable electronic plans, and has demonstrated its commitment to continuously improve the product.

Pros: Rendering of plans is fast Ability to zoom in on plans and details (easier to see than on paper copy) Scaled dimension and take off feature Attach job photos to pinpoint locations on plans Punch list Ability to attach job documents (doesn't count towards plan sheets limit...nice!) Very rarely have there been problems with the account or website functions; we've only needed instruction support Customer support is very quick and effective!

Cons: Labeling plan sheets at initial load is a bit cumbersome as you have to fully open the sheet to see the designers description (a magnifier bubble on the thumbnail view would be really helpful) Hard to keep up with the new features being added (just kidding...it's a nice problem to have!) No customer support after hours (that's the time of day senior managers need help) Hard to get subcontractors to use it; maybe a slimmed down version with less features and less cost that can work on the cheaper Android tablets would be a solution, or a discount if hooking up with developer's or GC's job only

PlanGrid is helping us change the way we do business - every day!

Pros: The application is easy to use so our people want to use it! It helps us be faster and more efficient. We constantly have the information we need at our fingertips. We enjoy being able to quickly and easily scroll through our project information and be able to link information together so you don't miss important information. We enjoy working with the people over at PlanGrid because they make it feel like they are in whatever situation you are having, whether it is good or bad. They want you to succeed, they want to help you fix any issues that arise - they're part of our team and we appreciate their excellent customer and technical support.

Cons: PlanGrid works really hard to develop new features and push them out to their users. We know that they make a dedicated effort and are constantly exploring new options and ideas. With that being said, we'd like to see them come out even faster and more frequently.

Recommendations to other buyers: Determine where your risk is at, and what your return on investment could be and make sure that this application mitigates your risk and the return is high. If it does those things, PlanGrid is for you. I work for a mechanical contractor. Our risk is in installing the wrong system and/or installing the right system incorrectly. All of our risk is in the actual workers on site. We have to make the commitment to train our people and make them as knowledgeable about the systems they are installing and installation practices as we can and then we have to equip them with all of the information that we can, to make sure they are installing the right systems and materials. The most important thing that we can do to make sure that happens, is to make sure our field workers have the most accurate and up to date drawings and information. That is where PlanGrid comes in! The "not current" feature is fantastic and the ability to have all of their specifications, drawings and RFIs in one handy, easy to carry place is priceless. PlanGrid is the best investment we've made for our field workers and field leadership.

Pros: The best things about the software are:

1) The ability to have unlimited sheets

2) The easy upload of new sheets and the accessibility of Revs 1/ 2/ 3, etc. with a simple swipe

3) Support team always fast and helpful

4) The ability to create issues and tag multiple linked accounts to the same issue

5) The ability to create reports from RFIs, Issues, logo upload etc. to PDF, Excel documents and how immersive the reports are, from the organization of the issues and photos (very professional)

6) The ability to upload documents and attach them where needed for example RFI's

7) All the editing tools for Mark-ups within sheets.

8) How easy to publish and unpublish content as Admin

Cons: The least favorite things about the software are:

1) All though the cross platform from Web/Mac/ Windows/ Mobile options are great, the experience of cross platforms are not consistent throughout. Some features are available on some platforms and not in others

2) Constant out of sync updating on Mobile/ Desktop versions

3) Different software bugs across platforms (but its understandable)

Overall: Overall the software is an amazing tool for Construction projects. The ability to manage one project in one space is unmatched.

Pros: PlanGrid allows me to keep all my construction contract documents all in one place. In the past various versions of drawings, specs, submittals, RFI's, etc would be stored in various places and you could never be sure if you were in fact looking at the latest versions. PlanGrid takes that problem away and when collaborating with your team you can be sure that everyone is operating from the same sheet of music.

Cons: There are a few minor quirks that I have asked PlanGrid's support folks to look into correcting. Over the past few years I have shared many items with them that I would like to see changed or updated. They have most definitely listened and the product continuously gets better. Thanks PlanGrid!

Overall: When we start a construction project now we invite the entire team. Designers, Owners, subcontractors, and vendors to our project folder. Now we can rest easy knowing that everyone is using the most current documents as the project is constructed. Our superintendents keep their daily reports on PlanGrid. Our safety inspections and meetings are kept on PlanGrid. Submittals, RFIs, project photos, drawings, and finally our Punchlist. It save a ton of time and money having this as a single source to keep all this project information in one place.

Has saved us thousands of dollars!

Pros: Being able to have multiple sets of plans with you all the time, especially when traveling. We really love the ability to redline the plans as we go, zoom in to details, jump to detail callouts and what has been a huge addition to the product is sheet compare. That has saved us a ton of headaches, especially on those projects where you may get a dozen or so revised sheets. We also love the ability to archive the project and have everything in one place on our servers.

Cons: While they are adding some additional functionality, we would love to see more. Daily reports creation similar to other daily logging applications would be a huge win.

Overall: We are a General Contractor that builds commercial buildings nationwide. Being able to have your plans with you at all times (we use iPads) is a lifesaver and makes travel so much better. We have found that even our "old school' superintendents love it once they learn the basic functions. If you are building a 100,000 sq ft building and get a question, you can pull out your iPad and give an immediate response instead of walking 10 minutes back to the plan table and getting distracted 5 times along the way. It allows for accurate responses based on the plans vs. guessing because the plans are not close by.

It is an effective utility that helps in keeping and managing the backups and blueprints of construction data.

Pros: It provides real time file updates and reduces the paperwork required. It also is a collaborative platform on which multiple companies can work on and share data and information regarding construction works. This also lets to access the information such as drawing and photos from any mobile device, anywhere. The features can be used offline as well. This tool can be depended on regardless of the size of the project, which makes it highly versatile. The application also makes sure that no data is lost during a turnover, we have all revised drawings made on a project. The application maintains security measures and procedures at every level, as the work progresses. It has helped us to compare various versions of the same project.

Cons: This software has no integration with any database software, so there is not option to control who can view what, which is a data security risk issue. The windows version of the application does not have as many features as compared to the version available on iPads. Cost to share data with team members is high.

Pros: One of my biggest time sinks is formatting reports so once I found out that this app formats them for you I was immediately hooked. The default format is very logical and simple to read and for that I am eternally grateful. No more messing with strange Word formatting procedure for this guy.

The collection of photos and being able to mark them up instantly is wonderful. It is great for punch lists as well as cataloging existing conditions. Simply being able to note where the photo is taken is excellent.

The myriad of additional mark up tools is fairly standard but very necessary and also well done. Without them this tool would not feel complete or flexible.

Cons: Initially it was difficult for me to find out how to download the remainder of my photos. They are kept in a folder on your device that I haven't found a quick way to get out without another app like Astro File Manager (another great app for those of you looking for better folder access).

If there was an option to include a list of photos and there locations on the reports that would be very helpful for existing conditions. It's just slightly quicker that making punch list items for each photo taken. I haven't used the app for a few months since I've been on other projects so I apologize if this has been added.

Overall: For those familiar with standard user interfaces PlanGrid is very easy to pick up. It was recommended to me by the lead architect on our project and I'm very happy she did so. It was made immediately useful by allowing me to quickly upload my drawing set and begin making punch lists for the construction project I was overseeing.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do a quick "example" project for yourself before trying this with anything associated with your work. The company preloads a few example plans to work with so you can try out all of the features before using. Every program has a certain flow to it so make sure you take the time to give yourself some free play with PlanGrid before venturing out on your own with your projects.

Pros: Functionality and ease of use.

Having drawings at our fingertips and being able to quickly navigate a plan set via hyperlinks.

Ability to annotate, post RFI's and submittal information.

Cons: Honestly, there is nothing that I don't like about this sofware.

Overall: PlanGrid has transformed the organization of construction documents into an overall enjoyable experience. I cannot express how much I appreciate the ease of use and the ability to ensure that current documents are being utilized in the field to build from. In addition to the many available feature, the capacity to store multiple projects on my account is priceless. I cannot count how many times I have been able to respond to the requests of past clients in minutes no matter where I am. Finally the overlay feature, which I refer to as the "Equalizer" takes away the guessing game when it comes to seeing what really changed as drawing revisions are issued.

Pros: I really appreciate being able to carry ALL of my drawings, ASIs, submittals and RFIs on an IPad! This saves a lot of legwork when getting stopped by multiple subs on a jobsite because I have all of the information with me. I'm not a real tech person so when the office told me I was getting an iPad with Plan Grid, I was not interested. After a couple of days in the field, it is one of the most valuable tools I've ever had. To be able to mark up drawings, add site photos and transmit them in a PDF to the Engineers and Architects as an RFI is amazingly fast and easy and cuts down their response time! I highly recommend Plan Grid to every Superintendent out there who wants to increase their productivity and save a lot of time. Plan Grid is always available to assist with questions to help you get the most out of this software.

Cons: When I use the search icon to go directly to a specific page, I cannot scroll to the previous or next page from that point. It would be helpful to be able to scroll if you are off by a page or the details are on the next page.

Recommendations to other buyers: Spend time exploring and "playing" with it and practicing all the capabilities. It sure beats trying to carry around a couple hundred pounds of documents or being tied to your site office.

Pros: PlanGrid is simple to use, and makes drawing management a breeze. Subcontractors can no longer complain they don't have the most up to date drawings - they're in their pocket at all times.

Cons: PlanGrid's simplicity is both its greatest strength, and its greatest weakness. The ubiquity of "There's an app for that" has turned into many tight and incredibly useful apps that (only) do one thing or another really well. PlanGrid is one of these - the drawing management capabilities are fantastic, but the RFIs tool is not. It is also somewhat a barrier to entry that there is an ever-growing cost associated with PlanGrid. Many subcontractors struggle to justify the cost month to month, especially if they have a small scope on a large project with many sheets. It would make more sense for the cost of PlanGrid on each project to be borne by the GC, and Subs to gain access via invitation, without incurring exponential costs in the process.

Recommendations to other buyers: As a drawings management tool, PlanGrid is wonderful. It is, however, being copied by other companies who provide products with much more utility by having a wider range of nimble tools for a complete Project Management system. Make certain that a solid drawings management tool is all you require when looking into PlanGrid. If you need something more varied, with wider capabilities, look further.

Comments: It is rather expensive if you have a lot of users... still worth it but could be a little more budget friendly. But overall this is an easy way to manage plans and distribute plans and changes!

Pros: This software is great for being able to take drawings into the field and add markups as I walk the site! This makes for great notes and helps communication between the field and office or between GC and client / AE. It makes it easy to track and control revision changes throughout bid process and actual construction.

Cons: Some of the set up is rather difficult and time consuming... but worth it in the long run. There is also no way to control permissions of users, which would be a great feature!

Pros: PlanGrid is great for users of all expertise levels. The application is simple and lightweight enough that we can teach any user to use it quickly and get them up and running. At the same time, there is enough versatility in features built into the service that we can efficiently control our documents with little effort. It has proven to be extremely useful in maintaining our contract and shop documents on large projects for the field to stay on top of the game. Also, the PlanGrid team is a cut above the rest. Support is superb. I enjoy speaking with them to the point that I plug up their support chat from time to time just saying Hello. :)

Cons: One of the main hurdles in getting PlanGrid set up properly was figuring out how to organize our PDF's so that the field can get to the sheets they want without scrolling for days. However, with a little guidance from the PlanGrid support team, this is easily achievable.

Recommendations to other buyers: Keep the end user in the field in mind when evaluating features for these applications. What is their expertise level with electronics and file management?

Pros: The software is very intuitive and if you can drag and click your halfway there. I love the ability to take a photo and have it on the detail when you are creating an RFI. I've been a PlanGrid since 2013. At first I was the only one with my company that was using plangrid. After showing PlanGrid to upper management they implemented plangrid company wide. Then I changed employers. My new employer was not using PlanGrid so I did a presentation for our entire staff. Now, the new company uses PlanGrid. If I should change employers again, I will take plangrid and encourage the new company to adapt PlanGrid into their projects.

Cons: The only bad thing about plangrid is that it doesn't do the work for me. The biggest failure is that people do not use Plangrid to it's full potential. On projects where we are all dialed in with plangrid, it's great!

Recommendations to other buyers: "Try it you'll like it" Just do one project on it and you will never stop using it. Since it's cloud based I can use it on my lap top, tablet and smart phone. It's so easy to use. I grew up in the trades as a sheetrock, if I can do it anyone can do it

Pros: The ease in which to keep documents up to date in the field. Progress photos documented throughout the course of construction has saved us money. Also posting sketches/linking drawings to quickly thumb through the plans is super helpful.

Cons: The price is prohibitive to have many users on a small project. They got rid of their "free" plan for accounts with less than 50 sheets. Their cost structure is more expensive than other similar solutions on the market like Bluebeam.

Overall: We use PlanGrid exclusively for our major projects and it integrates with our project management software (eSub) to be able to pull in and sync RFI's and other information across the project lifecycle.

Pros: Plangrid allows us to manage and distribute plans and documents to the project management team and to the field quickly and accurately. Changes can be distributed immediately once received and processed. Questions and issues found in the field can quickly be shared and documented to the project management team with pictures and notes on the plans. Plangrid continues to update and release features on a consistent basis.

Cons: This is geared toward the general contractor but has been of great use to us as a subcontractor. Field reports could be easier to use and easier to import a new form into.

Pros: It is very user friendly; the ease of using the pages are just like reading the prints only faster.

You can navigate to get to a certain detail in half the time if you were thumbing through the drawings.

It also great for documentation of issues that are affecting your production. We can set up the task list and quality control the floor and have it to the GC by the end of the day.

Cons: It would be great if you could send more than one field report at a time from the App.

Overall: PlanGrid is now used at all our projects; it does make sure all information is to our foreman in a timely fashion not 2-3 day later or stuck in their inbox.

Pros: The connectivity between the field and office is a must nowadays. You can stay connected with your crew real time. The organization tools and field reports helps a lot. Going paperless have helped reduce costs in office supplies. Your RFI's and Job Reports will look so much more professional and very detailed.

Cons: There are issues between platforms that are slowly being resolved. Updates come out on Apple devices first which makes it kind of difficult to use if you have multiple platforms in the field like Surface Pros or Windows PC's. We found that our field works best with Apple and Estimators and Managers use laptops or Surface tablets.

Overall: Our experience has been very pleasant. The technical support team is very committed to get your organization going with Plan Grid and they will even come to your workplace and give your employees training. The feedback given to the Plan Grid team has been accepted and actually some features implemented.

Comments: Leading up to the start of my projects I have been able to review and mark up plans much faster and easier than in the past. By pushing my notes to the master I am able to ensure all the members of my team are catching critical details.

I have close interaction with many GCs, Engineers and Architects and several have seen the ease of which I am able to move from sheet to sheet and between disciplines. BEI Structural Engineers are the EOR for my Gaithersburg, MD project and were very interested in the way I documented their inspections, easily attaching pictures of the issues and instantly passing them on to my field staff. Last I heard they were looking into Plan Grid.

I am now on a project in Reston, VA 350,000 sqft of wood framing. the GC is currently using Procore which is much slower to navigate and pass information. There is not much chance of the GC to change from Procore, there are using on all projects more to pass documents to subs than for the plans but those who have seen us use Plan Grid know it is better for access of plans.

At the end of 2015 we had a meeting in preparation of our company summit after showing the benefits of Plan Grid to the upper management of Colt they have purchased IPads and added many members of our field staff to Plan Grid.

You want to get better??

I need info on adding hyper links to rfis, ssks and asks.

I need to save on the number of sheets I push to my field personel, is there a way to add multiple 8x11 pages to one sheet, ie all related 8x11s for one rfi. some of our floor truss layouts will have 100 to 150 related 8x11truss profiles but it is not cost effective to push these to my men with the current setup.

My company is talking about going to procore for things like QC, safety issues, floor/roof truss layouts and profiles, RFIs, ASKs and SSKs. are you making any changes in this direction?

Comments: I originally purchased this product to get the plans into the hands of my field workers when we were only 200 men strong. It worked great for an entry-level program that did not cost an arm and a leg. I would say that this program works good for a small to medium size company.

Pros: Plangrid is easy to use and to get the plans to your employees in the field. I trained my men on my own and they picked it up right away.

Cons: The field report tools still need a lot of work. You have to build your team for each project. I am a Concrete sub and we have a lot of new jobs so we have an employee to just work on Plangrid input only.

Hands down the best field mobility tool for the construction industry.

Pros: They are focused on providing a simple and intuitive experience while incorporating the necessary features to make your job easier. In an industry that is so behind on technology, adoption by project team members and subcontractors can be quite difficult, ultimately rendering tools nearly useless from lack of adoption. Plangrid's approach makes it very easy for everyone on the project to adopt the tool and utilize it effectively, making the entire project run smoother.

Cons: It is difficult to say what I like the least, because they have been excellent at making improvements in their product and service model. Every time i like something the least, it goes away pretty quickly.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have used Plangrid since they pioneered field mobility with a team of half dozen in a back-alley office. I have tried a dozen other tools intended for the same purpose and Plangrid has always been the best, by a wide margin. So the only thing I can really recommend is that you don't waste your time evaluating other software intended to do the same thing.

Pros: The drawings are very easy to maintain updated document logs, and keep a history of a project as it goes from the design phase through various multiple revisions during construction. The photos functions is also very easy to use, and great for documentation of the progression of the project.

Cons: The project management software can use some work. The submittals and RFI logs can use some updating and added features. I also don't like that the architects and engineers need to pay for plangrid accounts to access the documents and RFIs. Is there a way to change that?

Overall: Keeping accurate drawing logs is vital on any project, and this makes that task very easy. Overall satisfied with the experience thus far with PlanGrid.

Pros: This software is extremely user friendly and easy to understand and learn. I love the search feature and being able to sort issues into lists. It's very convenient to use the app on my phone while I am out in the field. It's great that the sheets auto populate shortcuts and sort into sheets of the same type when updates are uploaded.

Cons: It is difficult to print a pdf from PlanGrid. I wish I could print the sheets or a portion of the sheet with my markups to pdf to be able to give to people in the field. It is also inconvenient that the free trial 50 sheet account option is gone. It can get very expensive to pay for multiple accounts when they will not be used for a long time or for many sheets.

Overall: Once one of my projects was not downloading and I reached out to PlanGrid customer service and they were able to reconcile the issue within a few hours.

Pros: Great place to keep, access, and update drawings.

Cons: When completing field reports, you can't go directly to a drawing while inside the report. To access a drawing, you have to completely back out of the field report. It takes 4 steps to get to a specific drawing, and then 5 steps to back to the field report. Should be able to switch directly from open field report to sheets and then back to field report. This is an issue that I've brought up about a year ago, and it still hasn't changed.

Overall: Easy to track punch list items to resolution.

Pros: The benefit of this product really comes from the simplicity of it's user interface. It makes implementing a digital plan management solution extremely easy for those more tenured field users. Additionally the mobile first solution makes viewing optimized in the field on any device. Simple markups, reviewing callouts, communicating changes, and reviewing updates are made super easy.

Cons: The pricing can be steep for what is offered. This is especially true when trying to bring trades on who need viewer access only to the plans. These users must purchase a full license. Additionally they may not always need access to all the sheets, but because the licensure is setup for licenses to be based on number of sheets assigned, trades end up paying extra for things they do not need. This may make it difficult at times to get buy in from the trades on using the software.

Pros: PlanGrid has put a lot of time and effort into making their software not only effective, but also user friendly. There are too many advantages to list and ALL of them are geared towards making a jobsite/contractor more efficient. My personal goal is to make a multi-million dollar project completely 'paperless' with regards to prints out in the field.... PlanGrid should give me the support to be able to do just that.

Cons: THE ONE... THE ONLY sizable problem with PlanGrid is the ability (or lack thereof really) to upload older (backdated) print sets WITHOUT them becoming the 'Current Set'. Currently, if you need to upload a version of the prints that were due to come out a month ago you have to erase everything that came out in the last month, upload the backdated version, and then re-upload everything that came after that. VERY FRUSTRATING!

Recommendations to other buyers: Consider the rendering they do with the prints you upload where all of your prints are available to you at any time instead of needing to go back and download only the sheets you need at the time. The hyperlinks that PlanGrid automatically puts in on the prints is a great help to the men in the field as well.

Pros: With an aging construction field workforce that does not typically share a love of gadgets that their younger colleagues do, a complex app becomes a wasted purchase quickly. PlanGrid provides a intuitive and simple interface for our management and field employees to communicate anything pertaining to the contract documents. The key for our firm is having an app that does not overwhelm or intimidate the user whom may have just recently be introduced to his mobile device.

Cons: The marketing push / "how can we improve" push as of late seems a bit much.

Recommendations to other buyers: Everyone's firm has different needs. We developed a list of what our needs were as a company and what we were trying to accomplish and then reviewed many "construction" apps. We also had to consider the field's abilities regarding the usage of mobile devices. Some things that may be overlooked are the time spent training and the time spent managing the data entry / uploading process. Both are integral to any software purchasing decision.

Pros: The ease of moving around the drawings. Swipe left, swipe right zoom in and out with ease.

Cons: I don't like the update icons from about a year ago after the update but I'm sure I will get used to them.

Overall: I am a HVAC Draftsman and I could not image not using PlanGrid on a project. It sits right in front of me on my IPAD while I am drawing in Revit & CAD. I will use it on average 4-6 hours a day!

I use it to talk to the field foreman about drawing s that I have made and that they are installing. NO more paper to fumble through, everything is right in the palm of their hands!

Comments: Works great with ipad. Android use has had some quirks, but it seems to be improving.

Pros: Love the fact that changes can be shared on the fly to hand-held devices without having to redistribute paper drawing pages or sets. Feedback and field dimensions can be shared more quickly and efficiently than when we were working with paper sets.

Cons: Its a little pricey if some team members need only occasional use. However, there is no small group option, which makes it a little more difficult to share with sub-subcontractors.

Pros: As a subcontractor, access to the latest and greatest project documents in one place is by far the best feature on PlanGrid. The ability to easily refer back to previous iterations immensely help to find plan deviations.

Cons: Minor annoyance is the zoom feature only goes so far. Sometimes there is a need to zoom in at 400% or more.

Overall: Most of my projects utilize PlanGrid. My whole teams uses PlanGrid for real time collaboration. I'd be much farther behind in document control if it weren't for PlanGrid.

Pros: ease of use- field has taken full use of this app - I have never seen the field accept an app like this. they like it because it is user friendly. customer service has been excellent. app is fast and reliable. ROI is hard to establish, but I know we are saving time..

Cons: the price as a company would be something to look at - If I have 400 people using, I would probably not want to pay that much per person per year.

Pros: The ease of viewing construction documents and the feature of seeing overlays of past sheets makes this a great tool as design is always changing.

Cons: I like their new feature of workspaces but I believe it still needs refinement on this feature as it limits the task assignments within each workspace.

Pros: It can take a complete set of drawings and set up to use in the field via Ipad. you can use stamps to create a decent punchlist.

Cons: only has limited zoom capabilities that are not enough for real work use. very complicated to update and organize, RFI postage is terrible and hyperlink is spotty as far as function, sometimes you need to remove other posted items to get it to work. I would NOT recommend this software for anyone.

Comments: Pros:

-All of your drawings in one place on an easy to carry mobile device.

-Drawings open lightening fast! No need to use a VPN to log into a company server.

-Easy to upload/update sets of drawings.

-Keeps everyone on a full current set with access to older versions.

-Allows you to quickly mark up changes or notes and share if you like.

-Great place to keep RFI's or other field directives, can be easily linked to a sheet so your field team knows when they look at a particular sheet that something has changed on that plan and to reference the RFI.

-Control over who can edit or mark up sheets within the program.

-Ability to snap pictures and indicate on the drawings where that picture is taken.

-Downloadable As-Built set.

-Auto hyperlinking of details, cut thrus, and drawing index.

Cons:

-Inability to set your own RFI numbers.

-Inability to upload your own RFI form/format.

- $59/mo/user is a steep price for a subcontractor to pay just to view current plans.

- Can't copy/paste links on sheets. i.e. If I have an RFI that I want to link to multiple locations within a set of drawings I have to create an individual link for each location. If I could simply copy and paste one link/note it would save so much time.

-A comment bubble with an arrow would be useful.

-When reviewing a sheet on a PC with photos when you click the photo all you can view is a thumbnail. Would be nice to be able to click that thumbnail, it enlarge and be able to click through any other photos on that same photo tag.

Overall it's the best document control software I've seen. It's user friendly and worth the subscription fee to keep your project current. Ultimately it saves valuable time and money.

Pros: Automatic slipping of drawing revisions, tracking and linking RFIs on the active drawing pages, and punch list management are at the top of my list.

Cons: The fact that I can't send out an invite to a single user and give them access without having them pay for a license. I used to be able to invite an engineer or architect to punch the building on their own device; now I have to supply devices to them. Just complicates the process.

Pros: It has both Android and iPhone versions. The presence of zoom options on several scales helps to have a clearer view of the site images. The support team is very responsive and helpful. Any query put forward is solved by them efficiently. It helps to keep all your RFIs, drawings etc. in one single spot and need not carry them around in the field. It supports English, Japanese and Spanish.

Cons: It is very expensive. It is not affordable for small agencies and startups. Also, most of the features are scattered around and hence, browsing through all of them is not so easy.

Pros: Being able to carry only your Ipad, or now that I just got a larger sized Iphone I can now use that, out in the field and have every one my thousands of sheet at my fingertips is priceless. Also the new overlay feature, where you can overlay your old plans to new plans out in the field!

Cons: I wish that I could buy a per project cost in lieu of per user. Since everyone has to pay separately a lot of the team doesn't have access. If as the owner I could pay for the project and we could have unlimited users then we could have more collaboration with the whole team. Also the while uploading projects have I run into issues where the name of sheets is incorrect - if you could make the adjustment of a lot of sheets easier I think that would help my team.

Recommendations to other buyers: Just use this software, its great! It give your team the ability to use plans out in the field seamlessly.

Pros: The filter feature is such an efficient way to flip through the sheets that you actually need - I can't even tell you how many countless times I've used it, as it constantly remains open every time I open Plangrid. No more flipping through different sets of drawings!

Cons: I'm not sure if there is a feature out there yet, but I wish that the sheets were organized as they were meant to be on the sheet index of a set of drawings (vs. alphabetical). That way, if I were to download a complete set of updated drawings, they would be in the correct sheet order.

Pros: I am in love with the digital takeoff tools, and the punch list feature. Digital takeoffs are a breeze, I do not remember the last time I estimated materials using paper blueprints. It is quick, reliable and super easy to use. This has probably cut down the amount of time required to estimate a project by at least 50%. A must have if your company wants to do any kind of volume.

Cons: The licensing can be a bit pricey. But in our experience, it is well worth it. Even with the price tag, I would not hesitate to recommend this product.

Pros: - Fastest plan viewer on the market - Easy to learn - Automatic hyperlinks on drawing sets

Cons: - No integration with database software (timberline, prolog, etc.) - No way to control view permissions of users/collaborators

Recommendations to other buyers: Over the past year, my company integrated PlanGrid into our construction process, and used it to build several ground-up and renovation projects. I can safely say that PlanGrid has streamlined the construction process. It has greatly increased the collaboration of our field and office staff. We have also been able to reduce our paper use by utilization of the attachments features. We have found a variety of uses for the issues reporting module, which have enabled us to communicate more effectively with owners, architects, and subcontractors. How we used it: - Maintained constantly up-to-date set of drawings, linked to all RFI responses, approved submittals, and other important documentation - Utilized the issues feature to generate work-to-complete lists to better steer subcontractors - Easily documented construction progress If you want to become more organized and focused in your project delivery, then you should use PlanGrid.

Pros: The ease in allowing superintendents to be up to date and certain they are working off of the latest drawings bu having the ability to upload newer sheets noted with V2, V3, etc. but also retain the older version to look back on is extremely useful. As well it allows the field to always have a version of plans they can mark up and instantly share with whomever they need on the spot.

Cons: The con would be the smallest issue, when adding tags to a page I often find myself accidentally adding accessibility to pages as it is the first option and once I've added my desired tag if I press enter both tags are included. Very small detail and easy to catch, so it really does not bug me.

Pros: Gives an option to those whose company does not wish to adopt across the board for all projects. Reduces vast amount of paper when used to full extent.

Cons: I don't care for the terms of service. Being in the construction industry, projects are often portions of a year or years. The TOS requires no prorated refund upon completion of a project.

Pros: The software is Intuitive and easy to work with.

Cons: We Would like to have the ability to invite others and have them download only the sheets that they need. for instance we have a project that has 3000+ sheets and several subcontractors and or employees only need 50-100 of those sheets.

Overall: PlanGrid is a great tool for us as a General Contractor for field use.

Pros: The ease of creating a note, comment, or question on a drawing and sending it off in a snapshot from to ANY recipient and NOT limited to people that have plangird

Pros: I was able to hand a field foreman (who didn't like computers) an iPad and after a brief training he was using PlanGrid constantly. Every foreman I have loves this product.

Cons: On an administrative level, it is hard to manage the licenses my company uses because of lack of information.

Comments: I am a special inspector for large scale commercial buildings in a large market. It seems every general contractor it starting to go paperless with plans and specifications and they all use different programs, so I have used a lot of them to say the least. I feel the PlanGrid is the most user friendly. I tend to take the plans and specifications from some of the other programs contractors are using for specific projects and put them into PlanGrid for my own use.

Pros: When the chat option is available on their website, they respond VERY promptly. This is HUGE! Also, the interface and functionality of the punch aspect is invaluable.

Cons: I am PRAYING for the day when the tablet interface can be filtered in a manner that is reasonable for all users. For example, if I want to only see items with a specific punch code on a sheet (i.e. when I walk into a room and want to see the Mechanical items), I want it to filter to that punch code. I am probably inadequately describing the issue, but I expect that the fine folks at Plangrid will rectify this soon.

Recommendations to other buyers: Determine what your basic needs are and then dedicate resources (especially personnel and time) to evaluate the software on the trial/free basis. If you only try something out half-heartedly, you will run into big issues later.

Comments: Keeping it simple for the user is the secret of PlanGrid's success! Letting the software do all the hard work and making the users lives easier in the process, makes for a winning combination. When I first introduced PlanGrid as a pilot project to the organization, we picked a group of 15-20 Superintendents with varying degrees of experience. Some of the more experienced Supers actually laughed in my face at the thought of using an iPad on a jobsite and laughed even harder when I told them that the app we were piloting would make them better at their jobs! 3 months later, these were the same people who personally thanked me for introducing them to this magnificent tool and agreed that they were now spending 75% less time in the jobsite trailer, spending less money on BluePrints and spending more time actually building the job. The net result of this is a happier and more efficient workforce, a better quality product for our clients and significantly reduced blueprinting costs.

In terms of areas for improvement, I think it is very easy to slip into the "get it out the door" mentality as you continue to expand your client base, but you need to stay true to your "Keep it Simple" mantra while finding a happy medium which gets your clients many of the features being requested. It would be nice to have some insight on which features are in the pipeline so we can give our users some idea when they will get what they are asking for. I think this could be as simple as a 6 month look ahead being available for site admins under the new Admin Console.

Pros: One of my favorites plan distribution softwares. Quick and east to update teh drawings. Also, good features to add photos and comments for yourself and other team members.

Cons: We use now Procore which is very similar to Plangrid. Plangrid only does drawings, but Procore has everuything (RFIs, Submittals, Cost, Invitation to Bid, etc). It's easier to just log in on one software instead of going to two or three to manage a project.

Comments: PlanGrid is an excellent tool that greatly enhances communication within project teams and other trades. The ability to use the same documents and maintain a change log is a great benefit that keeps all collaborators in sync.

Pros: PlanGrid affords you the ability to document and report from a single platform, available through the cloud anywhere and in the various devices we use; tablet, laptop, desktop, phone. Being able to access from multiple OSs enables our users to use their device of preference - Android, IOs, Mac, Windows, etc.

Cons: It presently seems to lack direct interaction or integration with other products it teams well with. Not an issue by any means, but a bit of additional integration can result in increased time savings, particularly in the production stage. Slow speed when syncing between devices can be an issue if a project has a large volume of sheets, particularly with slow data connections on a jobsite.

Comments: The more I use it the better I like it. I can send reports to my people as well as general contractors. Easy to attach pictures to the area of the project including full page PDF's so they understand the issue immediately. Quicker response to issues less time reviewing RFI's more production. You can over lay sheets to avoid conflicts. Good investment and big time saver.

Pros: All of the above. I can solve a lot of problems and shorten the process. I see more and more GC's using it as a way to exchange info with subs. If I have a particular problem with something Plan Grid support will get right back to me with help. If they hear from you about something you would like to see on plan grid they they send it to their design team to see if can be added.

Cons: RFI's have to be sent through Plan Grid so some GC's won't open them. If they saw that it came from me they wouldn't hesitate. Maybe maybe it could say (my company) / plan grid RFI.

Comments: I have used PlanGrid at my previous job building custom homes, and now for over 2 years on large commercial projects. ($5-55 MM) This is the best app available for mobile, paperless construction documents. We use it company-wide for keeping the most recent information in sync between the office and field. Minutes after a new sheet or ASI is issued, it is posted to the PlanGrid app and the field has access to it.

Pros: - Very easy to use - even for the least technology literate users. - Hyperlinked plans save a lot of time - Great for giving access to all current docs (submittals, etc.) - Great customer service

Cons: Only negatives are that it is limited still in its total breadth of capabilities. - RFI's have been added, but are still not fully functional. - Marking up plans is limited compared to other PDF software. More options for paid tiers (project wide perhaps) would be appreciated - so we can pay for users to join one project.

Pros: I really like the ability to tap on a detail and go to that detail sheet and see what I'm looking for, more detail! Some of my drawings are hundreds of pages deep and plan grid handles them all. I also like the way plan grid allows me to go back to where I started from, or jump into a completely different group of drawings. Cons: Can't think of anything off hand. But this will not let me submit until I have at least 50 characters so obviously there is one thing I do not like.

Comments: Plan Grid is a great tool and makes it really easy to update the drawing and keep everything Current. It is critical that i have the most current drawing with me at all times. Once i get an update i load the newest drawing on the system and i always have the most current information at my fingertips at all times. i am a 56 year old Superintendent and i am able to take care of it by myself. I used to wait for the office to get the updates and then someone would have to process the set and then i would get the update much later than when i do it myself with Plan Grid. If i can do it then anyone should be able to do it. It has made my life much easier and we dont make mistakes because we use an older version of the drawing. i use it every day on the site and it is a great tool that i would not want to be without. i am able to update and then the other supers are able to take their ipads and have the same current information all the time also. We used to do it with another software and it was always behind and the ones in the Office were always slow about getting the information updated so we could download it to our Ipads. I have it on my Iphone 6 Plus also so i am always with the current drawing. i could not be happier with Plan Grid . i have been using it about 3 months now. i want to learn more about its uses so i can become better and learn how to make it a better tool .

Comments: For projects with a small or large scope, this is a must have. It provides effective collaboration, as well as keeps everyone up to date. We find it very useful to produce punch lists. You can take photos, mark them up, and sync them to the plans. Saves time and much effort.

Cons: There honestly are no cons, this app is amazing! But just one thing to keep in mind... You can export everything for your records which is nice. But if you want a package of photos to be exported with notation of where they are on the plans, you have to export them by sheet, which can be time consuming. It would be helpful to be able to export a photo package with all photos and all sheets noting where the photos were taken.

Pros: No big rolls of unnessary blue prints like the old days , fast access to my sheets without shifting through at her trades that don't pertain to my scope of work, all my RFI's are within my reach without going through the regular process of retrieving them from the project manager or supervisors. Love the to be able to compare with the old version and see the new changes that affect my project

Cons: If I could only recidivism the pages that pertain to my project without using so much memory, plans that are 1000 pages and I only need 20

Overall: Being able to see who is the architect,Engineer and all the most resent changes and RFI's that affect my scope of work, I wish this technology was around back in the day when things were harder to receive the information that mattered . The thought of going paperless is the best thing we can do for our environment and businesses

The best Construction app you'll ever find.

Comments: I've used plangrid since they've first come out. They've made some amazing upgrades since then. Our company (roofing and exterior wall systems) runs up to 40 projects at once, and to have all the drawings and attachments at the tip of your fingers is priceless. I visit up to 10 projects daily and my heads into and out of each project constantly throughout the day. To have the pictures and details available like this is great to have. I honestly couldn't do my job efficient without Plangrid.

Pros: The best thing I like about this app is the hyperlink feature and the picture uploading. Customer support team is there at the tip of your fingers trying to improve this app and help you get the most out of it.

Cons: One of the things I'd like this app to be able to do is, to do some additional markups after you create a PDF packet.

Pros: Able to communicate issues/changes in design to the various trades using a software program that is easy to use

Cons: Have found at times it is a little difficult to follow the flow; timeline of the information (referring to RFI's & Submittals; find it hard to pinpoint the most current response/document)
