Comments: This is very good for Construction Management firm and the amount of time saving on operators would compensate the cost for sure

Pros: Stronge ability to compare documents Saves huge amount of time on creating the list of drawings along with the whole details As soon as you upload the new version of documents you wourld realise what is new and what is missing Very quick website Very handy windows and mobile app

Cons: Limitted number of sheets- of course if you are dealing with multiple active projects you will need to pay for extra sheets or remove old revisions on the server

Cons: We have not found any issues with plangrid other than their billing. We have had issues trying g to get invoices paid.

Pros: Has many of the feature of Procore and does well to make revisions of drawings, registers and mark up easy. This is also fantastic for team integration between the office and site. Excels in these areas.

Cons: Doesnt have the full package like Procore, many other project management tools are missing and could be implemented to rivial competitors.

Pros: I was extremely impressed at their demonstration. This software is meant for companies that want to work with digital plans. You can leave public or private notes on the plans and so much more.

Cons: Its a big product and I know I felt intimidated by it at first. Just like all things practice makes perfect. There is a lot to learn though.

Pros: You can use this software to bring all the parties on the project together with ease. Also the customer service is the best.

Cons: It took sometimes for us the get use to the new software layout, and the report options had some problems, but it was all worth it at the end.

Pros: The ease in allowing superintendents to be up to date and certain they are working off of the latest drawings bu having the ability to upload newer sheets noted with V2, V3, etc. but also retain the older version to look back on is extremely useful. As well it allows the field to always have a version of plans they can mark up and instantly share with whomever they need on the spot.

Cons: The con would be the smallest issue, when adding tags to a page I often find myself accidentally adding accessibility to pages as it is the first option and once I've added my desired tag if I press enter both tags are included. Very small detail and easy to catch, so it really does not bug me.

Pros: New features are constantly being added to make this a very versatile software. It's extremely user-friendly and has become a staple for our organization. Teams are able to access the same files which makes it easy to collaborate and keep everyone on the same page.

Cons: The Windows application is improving but still needs some work to get it fully functional. If it had all the features of the iPad, it would be a perfect product.

Pros: What I like most about this program is how simple it is to use. My field guys HATE tech and even my most ardent anticomputer foreman uses PlanGrid easily and without (much) complaint. The software is super intuitive and easy for us on both the front and back in. Our PM's quickly load up drawings and our foremen easily access it in the field.

Cons: The cost is on the high side but I think the functionality more than makes up for it. Also each user has to have their own account, I think it would be nice if we could share accounts to keep the TCI down.

Overall: Great Office to Field Communication, Keeping our crews with the most current plans and documents.

Pros: Easy to use, fast way to view and make comments in the field. Helps keep everyone working on the same set of drawings and up to date on revisions. If you have worked in construction you know how hard it is to keep everyone on the same page. This can save all kinds of money and time from rework.

Cons: It is hard to find something to dislike. It can be hard to get subs to buy into the application but that happens with all the different apps out there.

Pros: It can take a complete set of drawings and set up to use in the field via Ipad. you can use stamps to create a decent punchlist.

Cons: only has limited zoom capabilities that are not enough for real work use. very complicated to update and organize, RFI postage is terrible and hyperlink is spotty as far as function, sometimes you need to remove other posted items to get it to work. I would NOT recommend this software for anyone.

Pros: Sync ability between desktop app, ipads and iphones. Saves me from carrying multiple very heavy Drawings around.

Comments: The capability to take photos and measure in the field is incredibly useful as well.

Pros: I love the ease of use for new users and non-members, it is extremely easy for contractors to use. I also value the cloud-based storage and sharing, which saves time on the front-end for information dissemination, and on the back-end with report generation.

Cons: It would be great if the background/structure PDF was instead a locked CAD file, which could be unlocked and changed by the administrator of the project if necessary.

Cons: -Photo taking on SurfacePro led to software crashing

Comments: I originally purchased this product to get the plans into the hands of my field workers when we were only 200 men strong. It worked great for an entry-level program that did not cost an arm and a leg. I would say that this program works good for a small to medium size company.

Pros: Plangrid is easy to use and to get the plans to your employees in the field. I trained my men on my own and they picked it up right away.

Cons: The field report tools still need a lot of work. You have to build your team for each project. I am a Concrete sub and we have a lot of new jobs so we have an employee to just work on Plangrid input only.

Pros: One of my favorites plan distribution softwares. Quick and east to update teh drawings. Also, good features to add photos and comments for yourself and other team members.

Cons: We use now Procore which is very similar to Plangrid. Plangrid only does drawings, but Procore has everuything (RFIs, Submittals, Cost, Invitation to Bid, etc). It's easier to just log in on one software instead of going to two or three to manage a project.

Pros: This software is great for being able to take drawings into the field and add markups as I walk the site! This makes for great notes and helps communication between the field and office or between GC and client / AE. It makes it easy to track and control revision changes throughout bid process and actual construction.

Cons: Some of the set up is rather difficult and time consuming... but worth it in the long run. There is also no way to control permissions of users, which would be a great feature!

Pros: The benefit of this product really comes from the simplicity of it's user interface. It makes implementing a digital plan management solution extremely easy for those more tenured field users. Additionally the mobile first solution makes viewing optimized in the field on any device. Simple markups, reviewing callouts, communicating changes, and reviewing updates are made super easy.

Cons: The pricing can be steep for what is offered. This is especially true when trying to bring trades on who need viewer access only to the plans. These users must purchase a full license. Additionally they may not always need access to all the sheets, but because the licensure is setup for licenses to be based on number of sheets assigned, trades end up paying extra for things they do not need. This may make it difficult at times to get buy in from the trades on using the software.

Pros: That it uploads drawings pretty quickly and users have the ability to work on other things while drawings are being uploaded/downloaded. I am also excited to use the punch list tools which generates a nice clean report.

Cons: It does not have a Search tool to have the ability to find key words and phrases. It seems like they are working on it but it would be very benificial

Comments: I recommend Plangrid to my colleagues.

Pros: Easy to use in the field. Easy to teach my field supervisors how to use on tablets. This is a very reliable tool.

Cons: I wish that the reporting tools were easier to set up. I have to make my own report because the ones provided are not very intuitive.

Comments: Works great with ipad. Android use has had some quirks, but it seems to be improving.

Pros: Love the fact that changes can be shared on the fly to hand-held devices without having to redistribute paper drawing pages or sets. Feedback and field dimensions can be shared more quickly and efficiently than when we were working with paper sets.

Cons: Its a little pricey if some team members need only occasional use. However, there is no small group option, which makes it a little more difficult to share with sub-subcontractors.

Comments: Great app, great support. If you need to be mobile and don't like to carry around your construction drawings, this is a great tool!

Pros: This product is easy to use and easy to install. The support is awesome. They answer my questions very promptly and are very knowledgeable. Many neat features but even if you just want to view and mark up drawings, this is a great tool.

Cons: Maybe the price but I am sure everyone pretty much says that as a con!

Pros: easy to use, fast and a lot of good features forcing teams to work in the same environment (in a good way!)

Cons: expensive, even with a entreprise agreement. integration with other platforms limited therefore creating new types of silos. Other products are either cheaper or still have the startup feel of making you feel like a priority.

Comments: We have had to conform our workflow to how the program operates. Consequently, things are spread out, disorganized and filled with duplicates. Issues with uploading have caused us to wonder if all our drawings are really uploaded or not; there's no time for second guessing! This program has lots of potentials it could be fantastic but currently is frustrating to use.

Pros: Automatically searches for and creates hotlinks between drawings; automatically names sheets, as well All drawings are stored and synced in the cloud, easily shared with others, even if they don't own a subscription to PlanGid

Cons: Not all features are available in the different platforms (Online, Desktop and App versions) and you have to switch between them too frequently Creating and managing "Version Sets" is confusing and doesn't always make sense for every drawing Cannot comment or mark up supplemental documents; comments on sheets are hidden, no notifications are sent out when someone comments Unable to create folders for projects. We have multiple types of drawings for each projects, and some

Comments: Very simple to use. I'm not général contractors so I don't need all the features but what I use is pretty good. I started with the hammer subscription put all my Plans and I was thinking that 50 sheets were going to be free all the time but then a received email forcing me to pay $ To upgrade to 550 sheets in the App Store. But on the website, $ gives me 5000 sheets. I'm also using Procore so it is very easy for me to compare the app.

Pros: Like that, I can scale distance and Draw on the PDF link my attachment and photos.

Cons: I do understand why I can't zoom like in another app that open PDF. But for me I find myself wanting to zoom just a little bit more. And a wood uses a back button or undo button for annotations.

Comments: I do business with dozens of GC's and every one uses different software to host construction docs. Plangrid is the only one that shifts the hosting expense to subs. A $ per year expense. Pros: Intuitive and ergonomic functionality. It keeps files up to date and automatically supersedes old files.

Cons: The cost to share with other team members. If I have a project that has multiple subs that have a Project Manager, Asst Project Manager, Field Superintendent and Foreman who need to have the most updated drawings and each has to pay the fee then it gets pricey on their end. So I think Plan Grid should sell package/licenses s to subcontractor teams so they can distribute to their team in-house which you screen through their email address.

Overall: Plan grid has been useful for our team to be one step ahead of the game in document control. I am currently working on a larger project with multiple files, especially ASIs. As a result, the overlay capabilities makes it easier to keep up with drawings that have been superseded and have the most current jobs in the field.

I like the ability to tag drawings by discipline and in my case phases. The ability to hyperlink drawings to compile an as-built set or update current drawings with referenced RFIs, ASIs or SK drawings is extremely useful.

I wish that plan grid would allow users that admins share files (i.e. subcontractors) have the ability not to pay. I think the GC should be responsible for payment , management, and distribution of files. Plan grid should sell perhaps licenses to the GC company and not charge individual subs a monthly fee just to review drawings. As a result, after the trial period ended none of the subs for my job signed up to use Plan Grid. Consequently, I've been using Bluebeam Revu Studio which has similar capabilities and users download a free software through Bluebeam that allows access to all the project folder and files. What Plan Grid has over Bluebeam currently is the OCR to recognize sheet names through the plan index and this is a standard feature; however, in order for Bluebeam to mimic Plan Grids basic principle, it seems like an added cost. Overall I like the software for in-house management but as far as the sharing it with the subs and getting them to use it for a project entirety it has been a struggle. Therefore I think they should either consider lowering the rates for additional users.

Recommendations to other buyers: For viewing on PC , if there is an older version have a big red stamp that says SUPERSEDED or OLD VERSION flash across the screen so the user knows he is in the older version. I think there is a caution like a symbol on the tablet version, but it is not as obvious on the PC platform.

The greatest tool I have ever been given.

Pros: I really like the ability to tap on a detail and go to that detail sheet and see what I'm looking for, more detail! Some of my drawings are hundreds of pages deep and plan grid handles them all. I also like the way plan grid allows me to go back to where I started from, or jump into a completely different group of drawings. Plan grid updates easily so I can always have current drawings at my fingertips.

Cons: Can't think of anything off hand. But this will not let me submit until I have at least 50 characters so obviously there is one thing I do not like.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you can't tap on a detail and go to that page, get plan grid, save the aggravation.

Pros: The ease of use from beginning to end. Anyone can utilize PlanGrid to assist them on a project some way. If a person typically has challenges with computers or iPad can use PlanGrid just to read drawings, to someone who is advanced can utilize the full power of the PlanGrid app.

Comments: I am a special inspector for large scale commercial buildings in a large market. It seems every general contractor it starting to go paperless with plans and specifications and they all use different programs, so I have used a lot of them to say the least. I tend to take the plans and specifications from some of the other programs contractors are using for specific projects and put them into PlanGrid for my own use.

Pros: One of my biggest time sinks is formatting reports so once I found out that this app formats them for you I was immediately hooked. The default format is very logical and simple to read and for that I am eternally grateful. No more messing with strange Word formatting procedure for this guy.

The collection of photos and being able to mark them up instantly is wonderful. It is great for punch lists as well as cataloging existing conditions. Simply being able to note where the photo is taken is excellent.

The myriad of additional mark up tools is fairly standard but very necessary and also well done. Without them this tool would not feel complete or flexible.

Cons: Initially it was difficult for me to find out how to download the remainder of my photos. They are kept in a folder on your device that I haven't found a quick way to get out without another app like Astro File Manager (another great app for those of you looking for better folder access).

If there was an option to include a list of photos and there locations on the reports that would be very helpful for existing conditions. It's just slightly quicker that making punch list items for each photo taken. I haven't used the app for a few months since I've been on other projects so I apologize if this has been added.

Overall: For those familiar with standard user interfaces PlanGrid is very easy to pick up. It was recommended to me by the lead architect on our project and I'm very happy she did so. It was made immediately useful by allowing me to quickly upload my drawing set and begin making punch lists for the construction project I was overseeing.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do a quick "example" project for yourself before trying this with anything associated with your work. The company preloads a few example plans to work with so you can try out all of the features before using. Every program has a certain flow to it so make sure you take the time to give yourself some free play with PlanGrid before venturing out on your own with your projects.

Pros: This software can be accessed via a portable tablet, yet I can access it through my computer. The sharing feature is great.

Cons: Printing is a little complicated and the scanned blue prints are not as big as I would like.

Overall: My director found this program and decided to test it for use in our hospital. It has now become a vital tool in doing his rounds looking for safety violations, and any structural issues.

Recommendations to other buyers: Definitely worth trying for your company.

Pros: It is really simple. If you are using paper or pdfs you could safe a lot of hassle. In the case you want to do something more compelx there might be other options available out there.

Cons: They are a little bit intense with the sales calls.

Recommendations to other buyers: You are limited to 50 pages in the free trail. So might no work for your big projects.

Comments: As a site manager, this software has saved me countless hours of highlighting PDF's and going back through picture files to link them up with manually written field issue reports. This is also an extremely useful tool for punch lists.

Pros: -Ability to link photos to an area on the sheet -Ability to share reports and pages via email to people who do not have the software -Do not have to carry around hundreds of physical drawings

Cons: -Needs a way to filter and create a report for just one specific type of issue. -Functionality for tablet devices dependent upon provider data service -Web based interface can be a bit laggy

Comments: We were initially introduced to PlanGrid by a General Contractor on a massive project that required the use of a flexible plan-sharing platform. The were using PlanGrid and we immediately saw the use of it. What we didn't realize at the time was that the program is as useful for a million dollar project as it is for a thousand dollar project. All the way around, if you're in construction, this is by far the best program to utilize. However, to top it all off they add the best Customer Service I have had the joy of experiencing.

Pros: Field Use, Pictures, As-Builts on the fly...

Cons: Antique Co-workers afraid of technology.

Comments: PlanGrid is my favorite tool for doing in-field photo surveys and tying those images to a location. It's just a fraction of what PlanGrid is capable of, but it suits my needs very well.

Pros: It's blazing fast, syncs up effortlessly, and makes it easy to share information with colleagues.

Cons: I have to bend the features a bit to suit my needs. I also had an issue where a bunch of photos disappeared from my project - customer support was responsive but the remedy was a weeks-long process.

Comments: We have been using Plangrid for over two years now and it has saved us so much money. Instead of getting full size prints and taking the time to supersede them Plangrid always as the most current uploaded drawings on them. We are also enjoying the features of taking pictures and locations on the plans to further help with documenting the job and providing clear answers. We enjoy using Plangrid and the more we use it the more it becomes a useful tool for work.

Comments: Use this software almost daily for construction administration of multiple projects at varying scales. Meets almost all of my needs, and they are constantly updating features to make the software more powerful.

Pros: Very easy to use and learn - They also have live video tutorials weekly! Stores all construction information and files into a seamless interface Constantly updating the app/software to meet clients needs and keep up with the construction industry.

Cons: Missing a few helpful modules - Submittals, Change Orders, Schedules, etc. but an easy work around is to upload them as PDFs into a unique attachment folder and view them that way. Would be better though if they had a module similar to the RFI's.

Pros: PlanGrid is simple to use, and makes drawing management a breeze. Subcontractors can no longer complain they don't have the most up to date drawings - they're in their pocket at all times.

Cons: PlanGrid's simplicity is both its greatest strength, and its greatest weakness. The ubiquity of "There's an app for that" has turned into many tight and incredibly useful apps that (only) do one thing or another really well. PlanGrid is one of these - the drawing management capabilities are fantastic, but the RFIs tool is not. It is also somewhat a barrier to entry that there is an ever-growing cost associated with PlanGrid. Many subcontractors struggle to justify the cost month to month, especially if they have a small scope on a large project with many sheets. It would make more sense for the cost of PlanGrid on each project to be borne by the GC, and Subs to gain access via invitation, without incurring exponential costs in the process.

Recommendations to other buyers: As a drawings management tool, PlanGrid is wonderful. It is, however, being copied by other companies who provide products with much more utility by having a wider range of nimble tools for a complete Project Management system. Make certain that a solid drawings management tool is all you require when looking into PlanGrid. If you need something more varied, with wider capabilities, look further.

Pros: - Fastest plan viewer on the market - Easy to learn - Automatic hyperlinks on drawing sets

Cons: - No integration with database software (timberline, prolog, etc.) - No way to control view permissions of users/collaborators

Recommendations to other buyers: Over the past year, my company integrated PlanGrid into our construction process, and used it to build several ground-up and renovation projects. I can safely say that PlanGrid has streamlined the construction process. It has greatly increased the collaboration of our field and office staff. We have also been able to reduce our paper use by utilization of the attachments features. We have found a variety of uses for the issues reporting module, which have enabled us to communicate more effectively with owners, architects, and subcontractors. How we used it: - Maintained constantly up-to-date set of drawings, linked to all RFI responses, approved submittals, and other important documentation - Utilized the issues feature to generate work-to-complete lists to better steer subcontractors - Easily documented construction progress If you want to become more organized and focused in your project delivery, then you should use PlanGrid.

Comments: I've used PlanGrid on projects continually since the summer of 2012. I love the service, and think it's the best and fasted implementation for getting contract documents onto an iPad in the field.

Pros: Fast, responsive, clean UI, easy to train users

Cons: Expensive, and getting more expensive. Their competition is heating up.

Pros: My favorite part of this product is the ability to hyperlink. This feature makes plan flipping much easier and less time consuming.

Cons: What I like least about this product would be (On web) the small window to view plans when not in full screen mode and there is no feature that allows you to see the sheet viewing history to jump back and fourth between recently viewed sheets.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would recommend giving it a try in the field. It is a very powerful tool.

Pros: Great app. One of a kind and really helps in maximizing productivity on my projects. Plangrid staff is super helpful and attentive to the needs of their users.

Cons: This would be the case with any product, but there's a ton of feature I would like added after using the app. Can't really knock them for this because it's a lot easier to think of great ideas as opposed to implementing them.

Recommendations to other buyers: An app should do its core feature well instead of doing a million things mediocre. Plangrid is amazing at storing, organizing, and reviewing drawings.

Comments: PlanGrid is an easy to use tool for keeping teams up to date with the latest drawings. Where it suffers is lacking from an ability to integrate with other software like Bluebeam, where existing markups can be manipulated. In PlanGrid, anything imported becomes a static page. Also, the never ending cost of PlanGrid is a barrier to entry for some of our subs. It would make more sense to charge the GC to buy it per project, and not charge the subs.
