Once your business expands beyond that with multiple employees and product offerings, it can be lacking. Pros I love 17hats for a freelancing business with only a few clients at a time. It is easy to use and set up and keeps everything in one spot - billing, invoicing, client communication, workflowsm, and more. It helps keeps me organized and on task. Cons Once my business got a bit more complicated with products in addition to one-on-one services, I "outgrew" 17hats as some basic features inside bookkeeping and contracts didn't exist. Cons There were no issues with the software at all. We just were not in the position to keep paying the amount that was required. August 4, 2019 4.0 I was looking for a platform that could serve several functions at a reasonable price point. I found it in 17 Hats, and I’m always learning something new. Pros It’s comprehensive. I was looking for an all-in-one solution for booking, invoicing, and workflow management. Cons The Booking function doesn’t have all the features you see in other booking platforms such as manual scheduling and schedule blocking. It’s a little clunky but I believe it’s still being developed. The learning curve was very easy to use, and if you have any issues, you can talk with real people in customer support online, and they answer within minutes. I also use it for my studio mini sessions, and it’s made managing them incredibly easy. I can’t imagine running my business without it now! Pros The seamless integration of quotes, contracts, invoices, and automated workflows has completely transformed how I run my business. It saves me so much time, eliminates back-and-forth emails, and gives my clients a smooth, professional experience. I also love the automation features—they ensure everything runs in the background while I focus on what I love most: photography. Cons The only thing I can think of is that I’m UK-based and 17hats is a US company. Highly recommend 17hats! I have used it for years and now I happily have a lifetime membership! Pros I love that 17hats grows with me. When I first started out and had little income, I just used some of the basic services (like contact management & email templates). But now that I've grown and have processes for my work, I'm able to streamline and automate everything so that I'm not recreating the wheel for all the work I do. " March 4, 2025 1.0 It was really hard to set up and took me days to figure it out (Im very tech savvy so this was frustrating and no user friendly) Once everything was set up it was good and ran pretty well. Then the next year my membership went up to $300 which was expected because i got a discount to sign up initially so that was fine. Then they tried to charge my credit card $600 for the next year. Literally out of no where with no upgrades. I emailed them about this since there was no customer service number and the guy i spoke with was rude and did not offer any solutions besides a black friday deal theyll have months away. So now i need to redo my whole platform. This company is a scam, stay away!!! Pros The initial signup - Client Booking and Calendar Cons They Scammed me. They initially said it was $150 to sign up for the year. Then they raised it to $300 the next year. Then SIX HUNDRED the next year. They didnt improve anything for this insane raise. Pros 17hats allows me to have all my business administrative tasks and all records and documents related to each client in one place. The best part is that most of the tasks are automated, eliminating the need to hire an assistant for those tasks. The same way as you would train your assistant for the job you would spend some time to set up your systems the way you want them to work for you. There are many resources available to learn how to do it, including the live trainings where you can workshop your setup with a very knowledgeable team member, and the new Marketplace makes it even easier - you can download the set up you want and save time on setting things up yourself. Integration with my calendars and Zoom makes setting up meetings a breath - I don't have to double check for time conflicts or go back and forth with the Zoom links. It all happens automatically. Running my business from 17hats daily frees my time to have life and run my business, I don't have to choose one over the other. The customer support is spectacular. All my questions answered and issues resolved in a timely manner and in a supportive and respectful way. Cons Nothing I can think of. I would have loved some more 1-2-1 support with a call and them helping you set systems up. Pros How it can manage most elements of your business in one reasonably priced product. the customer services team are helpful but there is no real hands on help.I love that you can have multiple people using the system and can have bookings for everyone which was an issues with lots of other competitores. Cons There is some element of duplication that is annoying. Linking email and calendars to the service is fiddly unless you exclusively use Gmail. It's easy to workflows, integrate email, quotes, invoices, contracts - and you can easily sign off to accept a quote and contract right on the platform. Cons I did have some cons when I first used 17hats a few years ago, and stopped for about 6 months and came back after trying something else out. In that time, they had made a bunch of upgrades to the platform and made it much easier to set up new projects and organize all of your documents within each project. July 2, 2018 5.0 Pros My favorite thing about 17 Hats is that it takes all of the things associated with a client project and keeps it all together in one place. That's HUGE. Plus I can embed my lead capture forms right on my website so everything just populates in my contact's info. Amazing. Cons I would say the only thing they could improve upon is to integrate Quickbooks self employed and iCal. Pros This system makes it really easy for me to manage my photography Clients and Second Shooters (Independent Contractors). I love that I get a text alert when I have a new lead, and that I can create inquiry questionnaires that can be imbedded directly into my website. The integration with Gmail and PayPal makes things very easy for services I had already set up for my business. I admittedly don't use all of the features offered in 17hats, but love the ones that I do utilize! Cons The insert token/attribute option doesn't always work as expected for my contracts. When I preview them there are a lot of things that end up looking a little funky in regards to spacing. I've taken a lot of time going back and forth to fix these issues before sending to a client. I've worked with clients who use it and love it, so it comes down to personal preference and needs in the end. Pros It has some great features for client management, such as relatively granular permissions control within the client portal Cons It's not very well-designed. You have to search around to find things a lot of the time and some of the ways the interface is set up just plain don't make sense. I hate the user experience, but that part is my personal preference. I like the software and I'm going to continue using it for now. Pros Quoting is fantastic. I can send a quote out with the contract and a payment schedule attached. When the person accepts the quote, they then get sent the contract. After that they are shown the payment schedule. Building a quote is equally great because I can offer three sections. First section: the required items of the quote. Second section: Choose one of the options. Third section: Choose any of the options. This has been very helpful for website design where I put the website design in the first section, me hosting or them hosting in the second section, and add-ons like maintenance, SEM, e-Commerce, and more in the third section. " February 3, 2021 3.0 It was fine for what I needed to do. Nothing fancy. Just contracts (which I struggled with). But then I needed to start offering more tools to my clients as my clientele grew and it wasn’t working for me anymore Pros The only thing I like about 17hats is that it (almost) lets you get done what you need to get done. Basically just contracts, invoices, and bookkeeping. Cons It’s not user friendly at all. I’ve been using this for over 2 years and there are still features I’m finding out how to use. It’s kinda a messy program.
