Once your business expands beyond that with multiple employees and product offerings, it can be lacking. Pros I love 17hats for a freelancing business with only a few clients at a time. It is easy to use and set up and keeps everything in one spot - billing, invoicing, client communication, workflowsm, and more. It helps keeps me organized and on task. Cons Once my business got a bit more complicated with products in addition to one-on-one services, I "outgrew" 17hats as some basic features inside bookkeeping and contracts didn't exist. I love that you can have one account and several businesses and keep the accounting separate. You can switch companies with a click of a button Pros The ease of use and the customer service. The learning curve was very easy to use, and if you have any issues, you can talk with real people in customer support online, and they answer within minutes. Cons The feature of not being able to text a client if they requested information, but that has since been added. Cons The only thing I can think of is that I’m UK-based and 17hats is a US company. When I first started out and had little income, I just used some of the basic services (like contact management & email templates). But now that I've grown and have processes for my work, I'm able to streamline and automate everything so that I'm not recreating the wheel for all the work I do. Pros A lot of features for a very affordable price. If you're a service provider who offers package services, the lead-to-quote-to-invoice-to-project workflows with everything you and a small team needs, all in 1 place, is invaluable. Cons The design isn't the prettiest. The calendar view never worked quite the way I wanted it to. The scheduling features weren't super robust (I still used Calendly alongside this). " March 4, 2025 1.0 It was really hard to set up and took me days to figure it out (Im very tech savvy so this was frustrating and no user friendly) Once everything was set up it was good and ran pretty well. Then the next year my membership went up to $300 which was expected because i got a discount to sign up initially so that was fine. Then they tried to charge my credit card $600 for the next year. Literally out of no where with no upgrades. I emailed them about this since there was no customer service number and the guy i spoke with was rude and did not offer any solutions besides a black friday deal theyll have months away. So now i need to redo my whole platform. This company is a scam, stay away!!! Pros The initial signup - Client Booking and Calendar Cons They Scammed me. They initially said it was $150 to sign up for the year. Then they raised it to $300 the next year. Then SIX HUNDRED the next year. They didnt improve anything for this insane raise. Pros 17hats allows me to have all my business administrative tasks and all records and documents related to each client in one place. The best part is that most of the tasks are automated, eliminating the need to hire an assistant for those tasks. The same way as you would train your assistant for the job you would spend some time to set up your systems the way you want them to work for you. There are many resources available to learn how to do it, including the live trainings where you can workshop your setup with a very knowledgeable team member, and the new Marketplace makes it even easier - you can download the set up you want and save time on setting things up yourself. Integration with my calendars and Zoom makes setting up meetings a breath - I don't have to double check for time conflicts or go back and forth with the Zoom links. It all happens automatically. Running my business from 17hats daily frees my time to have life and run my business, I don't have to choose one over the other. The customer support is spectacular. All my questions answered and issues resolved in a timely manner and in a supportive and respectful way. Cons Nothing I can think of. Since the beginning 17hats has listened to their user's feedback and is constantly updating and improving the platform to provide the best user experience and really simply and automate all things business. I highly recommend 17hats for anyone starting a business or looking to improve and automate their systems. Pros I truly feel like 17hats cares about their users and is looking out for our best interests as business owners rather than it being only about sales. This is impressive given that 17Hats isn't designed for bookkeeping firms! Since I have implemented my efficiency has improved greatly, I get more done in less time and nothing falls through the cracks. Pros I love how easy this program makes it for me to keep track of all steps of my workflows for all of my projects from the initial lead capture all the way through the completion of the project. The workflow templates make new client onboarding a standardized and efficient process while still giving me the flexibility to adjust to the project's specific needs. The lifecycle gives me an easy at-a-glance status of each project. The calendar and e-mail integration means that all client communications are in one place and I never double book myself. I really like being able to automate the proposal, contract signing, invoice process. I have only been using this for 2 months and I feel like I have only scratched the surface of what it can do. Customer service is quick to respond, friendly and professional. Cons While I overall love this service, there are some things to be desired. There is no phone support available but their e-mail/chat support has been food so far. The mobile app is very limited in features and glitchy and from what I've seen they are not planning on improve it now that their website is mobile responsive. There are very few integrations, I would love it they could support Zapier. The client portal is a nice concept but I am not using it because it doesn't have the features I need. Their bookkeeping feature is a joke but I guess it's better than nothing for a freelancer that may otherwise not do any bookkeeping. Review Source Joseph K. Also, it allowed us to make proposal templates, invoice templates and email templates that can be sent out with a few clicks-- saves us a ton of time! Pros 17hats does a lot of things (and well!) all within one platform-- proposals with e-signatures, invoices with online payments (via Stripe), bookkeeping, to-do lists and much more. Plus, you can save templates for everything (from proposals to invoices to emails) so you can templatize your whole business, and you can create automated workflows where you can do things like have an email sent out or a task created when a proposal is signed. I've recommended 17hats to many web designers and digital agency owners and use it myself every day. It's perfect for an individual or small team. Cons If you have a team, you might still need a project management software. It's not very sophisticated when it comes to assigning tasks and working on things as a team. In our business (a web design and digital marketing agency), we use 17hats to manage all the back office operations, but we still have a project management platform that we use to actually manage projects. The contracts, canned emails and so much more make it a completely robust, but easy to use system for any service business. Cons The only con is that you cannot whitelabel your 17hats website. Cons I wish that there was more integration with other platforms, like Hubspot for CRM or SalesForce, just because 17hats is not as robust in that regard. I wish that you could use multiple timers at one time, because I am constantly working for multiple clients back and forth throughout each day. Sometimes it also seems that there is a delay in how fast the platform processes data. I can click on a project and it will take up to 6 seconds for it to recognize that, and it's not a computer error either, as I checked. Pros It has some great features for client management, such as relatively granular permissions control within the client portal Cons It's not very well-designed. You have to search around to find things a lot of the time and some of the ways the interface is set up just plain don't make sense. I hate the user experience, but that part is my personal preference. I like the software and I'm going to continue using it for now. Pros Quoting is fantastic. I can send a quote out with the contract and a payment schedule attached. When the person accepts the quote, they then get sent the contract. After that they are shown the payment schedule. Building a quote is equally great because I can offer three sections. First section: the required items of the quote. Second section: Choose one of the options. Third section: Choose any of the options. This has been very helpful for website design where I put the website design in the first section, me hosting or them hosting in the second section, and add-ons like maintenance, SEM, e-Commerce, and more in the third section. " February 3, 2021 3.0 It was fine for what I needed to do. Nothing fancy. Just contracts (which I struggled with). But then I needed to start offering more tools to my clients as my clientele grew and it wasn’t working for me anymore Pros The only thing I like about 17hats is that it (almost) lets you get done what you need to get done. Basically just contracts, invoices, and bookkeeping. Cons It’s not user friendly at all. I’ve been using this for over 2 years and there are still features I’m finding out how to use. It’s kinda a messy program.
