The last couple have seen it deteriorate considerably. To be honest, I wouldn't be to fussed about the other features that were promised, such as dimensions and journals, being a mess if the support and customer service was adequate. Go with one of the others, you'll thank me later Pros It has so much potential or had so much potential. The inhouse customisation was brilliant. Use to have great customer service. It seems like each update they do makes it worse. Definitely not suited to slightly complicated to complicated businesses. I have 15 years experience in payroll and never had so many issues with getting support. Cons Support - Takes days, sometimes weeks for urgent replies in the payroll system. Cannot help confirm compliance when the ATO comes knocking. Basically said too bad so sad. The reporting features are terribly limited, doesn't calculate payments made in same pay periods like Xero and a lot of the other available software. Requires manual calculation of Tax, Super, Leave accruals when doing Adhoc payruns. Leaves room for human error and is thus at risk of none compliance. Reason for choosing Employment Hero We didn't go past Employment Hero because the salesman said it ticked every one of our boxes and the cost was only slightly more. Little did we know, it didn't and with the extra hours required to make it work the cost is much much higher. Switched from [MYOB PayGlobal](https://www.capterra.com/p/254590/MYOB-PayGlobal/) MYOB stopped supporting PayGlobal. Salesman lied about Employment Hero features currently available which were critical to our business. Turns out they are on the list of future possible updates. Pros One place to store everything HR, keeps everything quick for onboarding and saves time and resources Cons Setup was painfully long with minimal help especially with payroll. To the point i had to explain things wrong within the system and explain how to fix it. New employees are not forced to complete there induction and policy content to be considered onboarded and can start the job and not have done anything. March 28, 2023 4.0 Overall, the platform has decreased the amount of time we were spending on the HR & Payroll function, our biggest win was the automation of the onboarding process.We are still struggling (nearly 18 months down the track) with some of the Rule Sets in the payroll function that do not work how they need to - we are manually adjusting some payslips every week.The support team are not very supportive in the first instance. We have been left high and dry and missed the bank cutoff on our pay day on several occasions because of their lack of response - which has meant that 150+ people got paid a day late - not ideal. Once you actually get in contact with a support person, they are generally quite helpful, however, I am still waiting on a response to a support ticket that was placed over 4 months ago - seems its too hard, so they are just ignoring me. Even the Customer Success Manager has not followed it up.New features are rolled out without proper testing - for instance, the paid break feature. It seems that they are intent on creating new features that are not crucial to our business and leaving the core functionality behind.Should have gone with Elmo. Pros The automation - onboarding, leave requests, timesheets, payroll.The app - mobile HR on the go. Cons The implementation phase - we completed as many checks as we could, but as a manufacturing business that has hourly paid & salaried staff, with multiple shifts across 2 sites & a specific Enterprise Agreement, we could not identify every single scenario, so after we rolled it out, there we unforeseen issues that we were just left to deal with. Once the implementation team completed the implementation to their satisfaction, they wiped their hands of us and handed us over to the support team, who never answer the phone and take their time to respond to your queries.The system is not flexible - there are several feature requests that we have put through because it just doesn't work as we need it to. The reporting needs to be better - the graphs are pretty, but I would like to be able to download the data behind them - some reports you can, some you can't. The goals module may work for professional services businesses, but not for manufacturing.The payroll platform reporting also needs to be more flexible - you can only create custom reports on certain things. We need to slice & dice information and the only way to do that is to manipulate it in Excel.The integration of the HR & Payroll platforms. Leave requests & expense reimbursements do not integrate from HR to Payroll. Neither do terminated employees integrate from Payroll to HR - if you terminate someone in Payroll, you have to replicate it in HR, so double-handling.That stupid app SWAG - should never have changed it. We started with one entity and then decided to move all our entities to it. The HR and Payroll platforms are very easy to navigate. We very much benefited from the Cost Centre Reporting and integrating that with our Bookkeeping software made our reporting very easy. The HR platform is our employees first point of contact to find any data about our organisation, policies and procedure, agreements... etc. On top of that most of our employees are finding it much easier to track their Leave balances and status through the mobile app. The Online Support is very quick in general and there is always a solution to any query we put through to the team, Overall, a great deal to our organisation! Pros Most likeable feature we found in the system for our organisation is the easy integration of our Bookkeeping software and the ability to import the payroll journal. That made our cost centre reporting very easy and accurate. Cons It would be great if it can be linked to the Outlook Calendar! We are now nearly paperless with all our document controls, contracts, training, Performance reviews and procedures. Employment hero makes it very easy for staff to access their personal files at anytime of the day or night from any location and allows management to deliver compulsory reading, updates and most other things electronically. The system is great, economical and we are not even using it to its full potential yet. I strongly recommend Employment hero as an electronic alternative to a paper based H.R. system Cons We could use more flexability to change things within the contracts and also to have the ability to advertise casual roles. All staff have embraced it, with few problems. The system is transparent; all documents can be signed from any location; any additional documents can be added immediately and read and signed off by staff on the same day; it also serves as great filing sytem and has the ability to remind staff of overdue certificates; licences etc. Pros The program is very time efficient; with staff using timesheets instead of manual timebooks; leave request updating on a calendar automatically once approved etc; quick facilitation of documents between employer and employee. Onboarded new employees is simple. The process from sending out a letter of offer and associated paperwork; to the employee registering without any problem before commencing with us, has been seamless. Other quality feature are reminders for expired certificates and licences; birthdays; probations etc. Cons Syncing to MYOB AccountRight: Currently RealHR does not sync correctly with MYOB AccountRight due to the rounding of wages. For e.g: Employee 1 gets paid $55000 per annum or $27.834 per hour. (three decimal point rounding) All employees are set up on hourly pay basis as this way personal and holiday leave etc can be entered each week. If I set up employees under Salary pay basis I cannot enter entitlements. Real HR only rounds to two decimal points and then when it syncs with MYOB it throws the annual amount of $55000 out in MYOB due to the difference in rounding and this upsets Employees when they see the change in their annual wage amount on their payslip. Time sheets: I would like to see an extra box that can stipulate if on any particular day whether the day is OTE or annual leave or personal leave or even a mix of OTE; annual leave; personal leave etc. At this stage you can only stipulate this in notes and sometimes it is easily missed. January 14, 2024 2.0 A huge waste of my time and resources! went through all this ridiculous training (4-6 weeks of module after module and calls etc) on the system only for most of it to not even work or be used. We're cancelling the product and now having to look for a new payroll system because they've ruined keypay since they took ownership too. Pros I liked the idea that our onboarding could be hosted in one place and seemlessly integrated with our payroll platform. Cons I hate that it reverts to obsolete settings and constantly messes with the payroll integration. We've actually had to turn it off. The help desk is worse than useless. their 2fa is buggy and you can't get hold of anyone when you need to. Employees don't like to be told that their pay can't be processed because we've lost access to the program and no one will either restore it or call us back. September 13, 2021 5.0 The initial implementation was a little labourious, but the implementation team was always on hand to assist with any issues. The software is considerable in functionality so it can be rather noisy. However, once you become familiar with the system, it is packed full of great features. Pros A broad range of functionality. Easy to navigate interface. Great benefits are available to staff. Cons You are able to customise the pay week in the Payroll portal but not in the HR portal which means staff are having to complete 2 timesheets per week. Cons It does not deal well with non standard employment/employees that don't work standard work weeks/works standard hours in terms of how it calculates certain leave rates and how it processes certain leave when taken, this is purely because the system doesn't look at actual days worked or actual hours worked, but only refers to work schedules setup in the system. Second to that we paid for implementation only to realise certain pay categories were not setup correctly and did not accrue leave, it has now been almost 6 week with no real solution to this problem. November 30, 2021 4.0 The biggest problem we have is with support. It is terrible. There is no ticketing (Or maybe we just aren't given our ticket details). Very slow responses or none at all after multiple contact attempts. This just isn't good enough when we are dealing with urgent platform based payrun issues. Also, there is no clear path to support from within the platform. You have to google it. Finally, there is no clear complaints process. Hence this review. Hope you guys at EH get in touch with me. For a well priced, off the shelf package it is very good. Service is not always available immediately but is always helpful and friendly. The experience continues to get better as the product constantly improves. Pros Great off the shelf product for managing a small to medium size business. There is enough customisation to add the features we need and all of the basic HR functions are available. The service is great (may need to wait for a reply but very helpful and friendly). Cons The Certification function is not yet perfect but I'm sure this will evolve with time. Employment Hero continue to develop and enhance the product. We also utilise the payroll feature and the payroll team we work with are brilliant too. A lot easier to collate items such as policies, collect employee documents and track their document expiry dates for compliance purposes much easier. Also much easier to track probation periods with the reminders. Pros I like it’s easy to use, the HeroShop (now My Benefits -> Discounts) is brilliant and adds a benefit for employees, issuing employee documents and on boarding them is very simple and saves us so much time otherwise spent on manual on boarding. Leave management, timesheet management very simple and straightforward. Reporting features is great too, to find out staff insights such as headcount numbers etc. Any queries I have or issues with the system the support team is very helpful too! Cons Occasionally when I email employment contracts to staff they have difficulty with finding this email in their junk mail / spam / inbox. Some are not able to find this at all. I usually have to then send the contract manually. There’s no way to resend the contract once it has sent, so perhaps a feature such as send a staff member a reminder email to sign their contract could be beneficial. Some staff have trouble uploading their certifications, perhaps by incorrectly dating or using the wrong document format (e.g. Not PDF). I think having more features on the phone app too would be great because majority of staff use employment hero on their phones only because it’s quicker and more convenient. Admin Manager Farming Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "HR made easy " May 8, 2020 5.0 The fact we can have up to 350 people inducted and work ready over our peak season the thing we loved most was the ease in which we could do multiple pays per week for the different divisions we have, and the fact employees can access their payslips, leave balances etc is just awesome. We most definitely saved hours pay day by using this system very happy we made the change to Employment Hero. Pros We found the system super easy to use once set up had been completed it was a very simple process to move over to Employment Hero - We use a lot of seasonal workers through Cherry season and this system made it so much easier for employees as well as the admin team. Cons Not so much as liking least but it just took a while to work out which information was where in the menu Reason for choosing Employment Hero We knew of another similar company that had been using E.H, we met with the administrator and once he had shown us all the features and benefits for their business we knew it would be the best fit for us. March 8, 2018 5.0 Time - This software has saved my sanity in on boarding new employees and now we have over 100 staff its great that they can update their details themselves. Pros Ease of use, great on boarding tool, cuts the contract time down considerably, Great task list features, good reporting functions as you can customize easily. Collates all the employee information meaning accounts aren't left to chase down these items from employees. Compared to our current service EH is very complicated and takes 40 days to implement. Unfortunately we're locked into a 12 month contract which we have to continue paying even though we haven't used it for a single day - gave it up 12 days into the setup process. Pros The sales website is really nice and they make it look great.... Cons The Android app is unusable. Literally couldn't log in no matter what. Check out the reviews on the app store - lots of other users have had the same experience. Backend on the website is very complicated compared to the system we use (that we were going to move from but decided not to). Payroll and HR are advertised as a single solution when in reality there are two separate portals. It's all a bit confusing and convoluted and more expensive than our current platform. In this aspect it is spot on with Policies, Compliance, Certifications, HR Docs, Contracts and Onboarding. Very happy to use an Australian company. The guidance templates for HR docs and policies are excellent. Pricing is incredibly efficient. Subscription outsourcing is the now for smart businesses. Payroll Xero integration through EH is much less impressive which is such a shame. Cons Minor features are missing. Xero payroll functionality is not good enough - actually that's a major issue. How can you not have YTD available on pay slips?? We've had to revert to Xero's My Payroll, so now staff have 2 platforms to manage. Then the smaller but equally frustrating items - You can enter the public holidays that apply to your location but these aren't reflected in the team leave calendar as an identified PH. Why not? You have already identified then surely the data can be pulled into the team calendar. I submitted questions to the helpdesk and in reply got an answer but got told to sign up for an online Q&A session for future queries. I don't have time for an hour and to have to book in time, I should just be able to email off a question and at some point get and answer. There are other minor frustrations but the overall HR functionality probably outweighs the issues, until we find better. The ability to apply self guided implementation to a system that is easy to use is a huge benefit. Pros Although we utilise both the Payroll and HR Platforms. The Payroll platform is by far the most user friendly payroll platform I have seen and used to date. Cons The Payroll and HR platforms, although linked, have small discrepancies of information and other features that do not sync and/or match which can sometimes make navigating the platforms or updating information a little difficult. January 17, 2021 2.0 If a seamless user experience and reliable software that's easy to use is important to you, do not choose Employment Hero. It has been working OK (just) since ironing out most of the problems but not work the time and money to get to this stage. The HR and Payroll software are clearly sold separately because the look and feel is different and you need to instruct managers to perform actions in one platform, despite being able to do it in another, causing confusion. Pros The ability for employees to update their own personal information. Contract templates are helpful for those who don't have an internal legal or large HR department. Cons The integration between the two products - HR and payroll is awful. They often don't communicate with each other seamlessly and you are required to learn by trial and error due to the poor deployment processes and cumbersome workflow regarding setup. Customer Service is helpful most of the time but you will be passed through numerous people who do not explain the fundamental use of all the features. Too much emphasis is on knowing the hundreds of pages of instructions and features. Timekeeping apps (Clock Me In/Workzone) are simply terrible.
