An easy to use Intranet portal with social capabilities that enable employees to be more engaged. Simplified infrastructure for on-premises, no need for massive server farms. Great setup and onboarding experience with their professional services team. Their support staff is stellar, fast and caring for your needs.

Pros

ThoughtFarmer's ease of use, and the easy deployment on-premises (although a cloud option is available) helped us implement our new Intranet on time and budget while providing users with a top-notch experience for corporate news, events and navigating different processes in our organization. Social features (likes, commenting, @ mentions) really empower our employees to have a voice be more engaged with our strategic direction, operational insights and celebrating milestones with the recent addition of Shout-outs. From an extensibility perspective, the platform allows for page templates and widget creation (in browser or with modern development IDEs) and it is now based on React, so page loading and navigation is fast and responsive. Customizing with your own fonts. corporate color theme and images is quick and painless. Need to go a bit further? You can add your own CSS or JavaScript to fill in any gaps from the out of the box theming engine. A recent overhaul of the search experience brings the experience to what you would expect from enterprise search with the addition of best bets, predictive search, etc. The people directory is beautifully crafted and thanks to the Employee Directory Connector you can bring your users and their active directory properties (such as department, job title, phone, email) in just a few clicks. For authentication, SAML SSO is an option. The admin area is intuitive and very powerful as many options are configurable in the UI.

Cons

There are only 2 security roles, admin and user, so roles like help desk or others might get exposed to settings one might not want them to have. From an integration point of view, would like to see more integration with Office 365 as we use it for more day-to-day collaboration. A SharePoint integration is possible, but not sure if it will also work with SharePoint Online.

The company was very organized. They were prepared for this large undertaking and had all the tools/resources ready to assist. \[sensitive content hidden\] was very knowledgeable and great at explaining each portion of the process to us where it was easy to understand. She made the whole process as simple as it could be!

Pros

The best part of ThoughtFarmer was the smooth implementation process! We had a small timeframe to get this product launched and fully transition all of our internal information over on top of training our employees to do so. We had several meetings a week to ensure our employees had the resources available. \[sensitive content hidden\] was also quick to respond to any questions we came across outside of the meetings as well.

Cons

I do wish there were more options of cards to be available to give it more fun personalization for different topics. But the selection itself as it really covers a lot already!

Overall, I think the experience has been good. It gave our team a good way to build out exactly what was needed, and the site looks good, and professional.

Pros

It is very easy to navigate from page to page, and find what you are looking for. The ability to link from page to page makes jumping around quick.

Cons

We've had quite a few issues with connecting and syncing to some of the calendars. From what I've read, the compatibility of the chosen calendar file format doesn't mesh well with outlook.

It's easy to use and understand. this made setup a breeze but also allowed me to train others how to use it once launched.

Cons

Outlook doesn't integrate currently, but I've been told it will before the end of 2025.

The implementation team with ThoughtFarmer was fantastic! They were knowledgeable, thorough, and helpful. They worked with us throughout the process and kept us on track.

Pros

Our new ThoughtFarmer intranet is so much better than our old intranet. Having it hosted saves us from the server maintenance and patching. The search option on the site saves our users so much time in searching for forms, pages, and other content.

Cons

1) Some of the training during the onboarding process was canned and wasn't customized for us 2) Can't search for links in the search menu 3) Users can't save custom page views with sections expanded or collapsed

Our overall experience was exceptional. By nature, I have high standards. Most companies fall short of what they promised and leave us wanting more. Thought Farmer has exceeded our expectations in every way, from product quality to support.

Pros

They actually delivered everything they promised. The product is incredibly user friendly and intuitive, and the team goes out of their way to create solutions when we need them. An implementation team member also continues to provide support after implementation. That is rare.

Cons

It is difficult to find a dislike without reaching. The only small hassle is having to reformat web pages when imported from a Word document. An AI solution that builds your webpage for you based on the layout and formatting of a word doc would be amazing.

It's been a most excellent experience. I think ThoughtFarmer offers fantastic value for the money, especially when you consider the level of quality you get across the product and customer service.

Pros

ThoughtFarmer's intranet platform provides all of the features and services we need. The learning curve to use the system is low, so we were able to jump and and get designing quickly. Finally, the implementation team was top notch when it came to collaboration and answering our questions.

Cons

Honestly, there's nothing we didn't like. There are, of course, features we want that we've used before, but these are all custom to what we're used to, not what we need, and we've found way to work without them.

It was a great experience overall. I provided feedback & suggestions for improvements along the way and the team was always open & receptive and also happy to hear. They were great to work with, had easy to follow meeting notes and action items, and always responded quickly and effectively. When we had issues, they always sought to find the best solutions. I am really so happy that we found this company! The platform is user friendly and easy on the admin side as well. It is a fantastic platform and a company filled with kind and helpful people. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Thoughtfarmer in a heartbeat!

Pros

The ThoughtFarmer team is amazing! Super responsive, open to feedback & suggestions, timely responses, and offers guidance all along the way...even after implementation! If we ever had issues, they worked to resolve them as quickly as possible! They provided a perfect balance of helping & guiding us while empowering us to create our own personalized intranet that fit our exact needs.

Cons

I would have liked to see more info up front before our sessions to maximize the efficiency of the session. Most of my team members had not ever had an intranet before, so it was very new to them. Also, it would have been good to have met with the ThoughtFarmer team after the content inventory to discuss how the content would actually be set up. We wanted documents in a document library and not have a separate page for each piece of content. We did not spend enough time discussing the different content types: a page, a group, a section, etc. I think we would have made progress faster if our sessions were working sessions vs learning sessions. Just send us the overview, the powerpoint and a video, then we can do the creating together during our meeting.

Pros

What I like most is how easy the product is to use and manage. The layout is intuitive, the tools are flexible, and it's simple to update content whenever we need to.

Cons

There isn't much I dislike, but there were a few areas that had a slight learning curve at first. Once I became familiar with the system, it was smooth.

Some of the tables and rich text formats could use a little more customization, but as we meet with the team at ThoughtFarmer, they provide some work arounds for us.

As I said before, the customer service offered through ThoughtFarmer is like nothing I've ever experienced. We were walked through every step with well-designed training classes and never left to just figure it out on our own. The product itself is very intuitive.

Pros

The product itself checked off every box our organization needed, but the service we received from our Project Manager and Customer Success Manager really stood up. There was not a question they couldn't answer for us.

Cons

There isn't anything I've found I don't like about this product. I have card suggestions, but these are not complaints.

Our experience overall has been phenomenal. We really like this product. It meets so many of our needs. In fact, it has a lot of functionality we aren't able to use yet because we are still getting our systems in order. The support is top-notch.

Pros

I liked that the intranet looks fresh and has a lot of ability to customize. There are many widgets that can meet various needs. And we always have the ability to customize what they can't do. We were very supported throughout our launch. The support documentation is robust. Having an intranet like ThoughtFarmer has made our internal communication so much easier. We are transitioning from an email-heavy agency to a more web-focused one.

Cons

Licensing felt nitpicky. As a government agency, our staffing numbers ebb and flow based on state/federal funding. It would be helpful to re-up annually rather than monthly since there isn't a credit that comes back for unused licensed.

We are able to 1. centralise all our communications (we are a global company so this was very difficult before); 2. give all users easy access to important company training and know-how; 3. provide a safe area where users can discuss off-topic/fun items to increase employee well-being; 4. foster a community spirit within the company. This has meant that employees are more informed so can do their job better and are also much engaged so are much more motivated.

Pros

The software is an incredibly easy to use but very powerful no-code platform which is one of the best examples of no-code I have ever seen. It's so easy to use that we have been easily able to show all users how to upload and modify content.

Cons

Thought farmer is organised around a pages and cards system (i.e you have to create new pages and then add cards to those pages). This worked really well for our company so we have no issues with this but I could see this being restrictive to others or maybe future projects we have.

In setting up ThoughtFarmer, the implementation team kept in great contact and provided lots of resources to help us get started. From the weekly calls, video recordings, and notes it kept the project moving in the right direction and provided a valuable resource for our employees. Our employees have really been engaging with each other through ThoughtFarmer.

Pros

The news articles are very engaging and have been a great way to keep employees informed about key things going on in the company. The other standout for me with ThoughtFarmer is the ability to take and keep meeting minutes in a place that is easily accessible and can be followed up on. Overall it has been a great tool!

Cons

I did run into a few problems creating forms as some of them are complicated and require an extremely long form even with the exceptions active. If there was a way to import forms and create without so many manual processes that would have been helpful.

I've setup a pages and trained others how to do what i've done and everything just works. People understand the tool quickly and don't seem to need retraining.

Pros

The design features are plentiful and easy to use. You can easily move pages around if you create them in the wrong area or choose to change the layout. Also, the collaboration tool that allows you to invite others to setup makes working in a draft so easy.

Cons

I wish they had suggested template options that pop up when you create a news article so anyone can easily match the themes set by others.

Positive. The customer service is really the star. The product could offer a few more features but TF does not fall far behind other intranets I've worked on in the page. In some places, it does excel.

Cons

While TF offers a great deal of widgets/cards, there are a few I've seen from other platform providers that I'd love see in TF. E.g. greater page layout customization, an accordion feature that doesn't require subpages, upvoting, more options on image position and placement etc.

This is a great tool to help get news out across the company, organize employees, and just documentation in general. I am more in a support role and do not utilize all the functions that it provides.

Cons

I do not have anything bad to say about Thoughtfarmer. We just recently migrated our site to the cloud so still learning ins and outs on it

They team has the entire process fine tuned. We let them guide us while taking all suggestions to heart. They allowed us to focus on auditing our old content (update/keep/not needed) while the programmers built the site framework on the backend. By the time we were done auditing everything the site was ready for content. There were regular meetings which really helped us communicate our needs while allowing us to understand their process and suggestions.

Pros

It is modern and well organized. We needed to upgrade an old intranet that had several years of dust on it.

Cons

Honesty I really don't have much to complain about as the site is very efficient. Maybe a mobile app version of the site for employees on the go?

It had everything we needed while bringing a modern look and quality admin tools to the table.

I have really enjoyed working with ThoughtFarmer. I have had many questions come up while designing our Intranet and everyone has been quick to respond. I appreciate having the ability to reach someone directly. It is also nice being able to build a relationship with ThoughtFarmer and they know our goals, and can help us achieve those goals.

Cons

There are very few things I didn't like about ThoughtFarmer. Of course, we've had a couple of hiccups while trying to figure everything out, but everyone has been quick to help. If they don't know the answer, they are sure to create a case with Tech Support to get us the answers we are needing.

My overall experience with ThoughtFarmer was great! It is evident they work as a team as each step of the process was a smooth handoff to the next person who would support us. They are a perfect mix of subject matter experts and non-techy end users! They were able to communicate as easily with our IT department as they were with a new content owner who had not experience creating an Intranet. They were also very responsive and easy to work with as we went through the process of selecting vendors and then completing our pricing and contract with them. I would recommend them to both the large company looking to implement an intranet and the smaller company looking to offer an engaging, cutting edge communication tool.

Pros

The product is easy to use and the team supporting implementation was so helpful, available and thorough.

Cons

I believe in an effort to let our company drive the product and implementation, there was a bit of a lack of direction in terms of training. We had sessions where we were shown features but it would have been helpful to perhaps have some assignments or more direction regarding applying what we just learned. After each training session I sort of walked away wondering "ok, what am I supposed to do now?"

It has been a great experience. The platform is very user friendly. I am able to solve most issues or figure things out on my own, but when I'm not, the customer service has always been excellent and I always get a helpful answer.

Pros

The customer service is always excellent. I always receive a timely and detailed response to any of my questions.

Cons

A way to give (hourly) employees access to just our news page to keep them updated would be great. They do not need access to the entire intranet so it is a bit pricey to have accounts for all of them just for the news.
