Simplified infrastructure for on-premises, no need for massive server farms. Great setup and onboarding experience with their professional services team. Their support staff is stellar, fast and caring for your needs. Pros ThoughtFarmer's ease of use, and the easy deployment on-premises (although a cloud option is available) helped us implement our new Intranet on time and budget while providing users with a top-notch experience for corporate news, events and navigating different processes in our organization. Social features (likes, commenting, @ mentions) really empower our employees to have a voice be more engaged with our strategic direction, operational insights and celebrating milestones with the recent addition of Shout-outs. From an extensibility perspective, the platform allows for page templates and widget creation (in browser or with modern development IDEs) and it is now based on React, so page loading and navigation is fast and responsive. Customizing with your own fonts. corporate color theme and images is quick and painless. Need to go a bit further? You can add your own CSS or JavaScript to fill in any gaps from the out of the box theming engine. A recent overhaul of the search experience brings the experience to what you would expect from enterprise search with the addition of best bets, predictive search, etc. The people directory is beautifully crafted and thanks to the Employee Directory Connector you can bring your users and their active directory properties (such as department, job title, phone, email) in just a few clicks. For authentication, SAML SSO is an option. The admin area is intuitive and very powerful as many options are configurable in the UI. Cons There are only 2 security roles, admin and user, so roles like help desk or others might get exposed to settings one might not want them to have. From an integration point of view, would like to see more integration with Office 365 as we use it for more day-to-day collaboration. A SharePoint integration is possible, but not sure if it will also work with SharePoint Online. Review Source PS Peter S. This is an excellent product with a superb company behind it. Cons Recent move from a choice of cloud and on-prem to a cloud only solution. This concern will be addressed when ThoughtFarmer obtains FedRAMP cert. It gave our team a good way to build out exactly what was needed, and the site looks good, and professional. Pros It is very easy to navigate from page to page, and find what you are looking for. The ability to link from page to page makes jumping around quick. Cons We've had quite a few issues with connecting and syncing to some of the calendars. She made the whole process as simple as it could be! Pros The best part of ThoughtFarmer was the smooth implementation process! We had a small timeframe to get this product launched and fully transition all of our internal information over on top of training our employees to do so. Cons I do wish there were more options of cards to be available to give it more fun personalization for different topics. But the selection itself as it really covers a lot already! They were knowledgeable, thorough, and helpful. They worked with us throughout the process and kept us on track. Pros Our new ThoughtFarmer intranet is so much better than our old intranet. Having it hosted saves us from the server maintenance and patching. The search option on the site saves our users so much time in searching for forms, pages, and other content. I think ThoughtFarmer offers fantastic value for the money, especially when you consider the level of quality you get across the product and customer service. Pros ThoughtFarmer's intranet platform provides all of the features and services we need. The learning curve to use the system is low, so we were able to jump and and get designing quickly. Finally, the implementation team was top notch when it came to collaboration and answering our questions. Cons Honestly, there's nothing we didn't like. There are, of course, features we want that we've used before, but these are all custom to what we're used to, not what we need, and we've found way to work without them. By nature, I have high standards. Most companies fall short of what they promised and leave us wanting more. Thought Farmer has exceeded our expectations in every way, from product quality to support. Pros They actually delivered everything they promised. The product is incredibly user friendly and intuitive, and the team goes out of their way to create solutions when we need them. An implementation team member also continues to provide support after implementation. That is rare. Cons It is difficult to find a dislike without reaching. The only small hassle is having to reformat web pages when imported from a Word document. An AI solution that builds your webpage for you based on the layout and formatting of a word doc would be amazing. Cons There isn't much I dislike, but there were a few areas that had a slight learning curve at first. Once I became familiar with the system, it was smooth. The platform itself is excellent and incredibly easy to use, the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, and I love how the company is always striving to do more and make more enhancements and improvements. I would highly recommend ThoughtFarmer to anyone! Pros There are so many amazing aspects to ThoughtFarmer's interactive intranet platform. I brought an interactive intranet to my company for the first time they had ever experienced one. Therefore, it was crucial to have an intuitive, insightful, and easy-to-use tool for our staff. I have used other platforms before, but ThoughtFarmer's is not only the easiest one to use, but also the most professional and functional. After less than a year, internal communication has been transformed and is thriving now at RICK Engineering with the RICK Hub (our ThoughtFarmer intranet) as a center hub for everything, and employees are more engaged than ever across all of our offices. ThoughtFarmer's staff made our build and enhancements since then incredibly smooth and pleasant. They're always helpful, prompt, and forward-thinking, and absolute pleasure to work with. Cons I honestly do not have any true dislikes or complaints. The current platform/process for pulling statistics has shortcomings and is not very easy to use. However, ThoughtFarmer has demonstrated a new stats platform they are working on now and will be launching soon. So, we're really looking forward to that. From the weekly calls, video recordings, and notes it kept the project moving in the right direction and provided a valuable resource for our employees. Our employees have really been engaging with each other through ThoughtFarmer. Pros The news articles are very engaging and have been a great way to keep employees informed about key things going on in the company. The other standout for me with ThoughtFarmer is the ability to take and keep meeting minutes in a place that is easily accessible and can be followed up on. Overall it has been a great tool! Cons I did run into a few problems creating forms as some of them are complicated and require an extremely long form even with the exceptions active. Pros The design features are plentiful and easy to use. You can easily move pages around if you create them in the wrong area or choose to change the layout. Also, the collaboration tool that allows you to invite others to setup makes working in a draft so easy. The product could offer a few more features but TF does not fall far behind other intranets I've worked on in the page. In some places, it does excel. Pros Excellent customer service! Cons While TF offers a great deal of widgets/cards, there are a few I've seen from other platform providers that I'd love see in TF. Pros The product is very user friendly, has a great user interface and is also very intuitive for admins. Features are abundant, all elements for a great employee intranet are present. Cons Setting up can be quite tedious, as is managing the read and write access for each post and page. In the end, this benefits the user though. One thing that is missing is a chat functionality, although this can be easily solved by having one of the standard collaboration tools installed. I do however believe that with the latest version of the software (that we are currently not on), you are able to integrate with MS Teams. Herewith, the chat function will become available. I'm not sure anything could have been done much better. Pros The Thought Farmer program is very user friendly. Even staff who are not very techno savvy have no trouble navigation the site. The support provided was exceptional. Cons Some of the information on the community site is outdated, so some of the instructions that I was looking for were not current which made it more difficult to navigate some set up. I am always confident that I will receive the support I need in a timely fashion. Pros The userface has the capability to be very dynamic and engaging. Being able to customize the layout and design has been integral to the success of the adoption of the new intranet. Cons The process to update the layout and content of a page is not incredibly intuitive, with all of the modifying options being hidden on the right side of the Edit page. It is evident they work as a team as each step of the process was a smooth handoff to the next person who would support us. They are a perfect mix of subject matter experts and non-techy end users! They were able to communicate as easily with our IT department as they were with a new content owner who had not experience creating an Intranet. They were also very responsive and easy to work with as we went through the process of selecting vendors and then completing our pricing and contract with them. I would recommend them to both the large company looking to implement an intranet and the smaller company looking to offer an engaging, cutting edge communication tool. Pros The product is easy to use and the team supporting implementation was so helpful, available and thorough. Cons I believe in an effort to let our company drive the product and implementation, there was a bit of a lack of direction in terms of training. We had sessions where we were shown features but it would have been helpful to perhaps have some assignments or more direction regarding applying what we just learned. After each training session I sort of walked away wondering "ok, what am I supposed to do now?" Reason for choosing ThoughtFarmer Ease of interaction, responsiveness and pricing. The message boards and alignment with individuals' roles has made it much easier for us to communicate with targeted groups and virtually eliminated the mess of mass emails we used to live with. Cons The lack of integrated form-building/workflows in the system is limiting, but we've found ways to work around this in most cases. The platform does allow you to embed Wufoo forms, but it's not as elegant or efficient as truly integrated forms that could be linked to the user's identity.
