### "You need this!"

April 6, 2017

5.0

Pros

Everything Time Machine on the Mac should be but without the need for an external. This product saved my skin multiple times

Cons

If your upload speed is slow, be prepared to wait. This is not a problem with the product, but a problem with ISPs

### "Simple, feature rich and user serviceable, a Home RUN!"

April 15, 2016

5.0

The Crashplan experience has been nothing but great from end to end. From the initial reach out, through the sales process, into implementation; communication was stellar. Everyone was very knowledgeable and nothing was hidden from my view. The software instillation and configuration was easy as expected. Speed and CPU overhead are great. Restores are simple and user serviceable. This has already saved us multiple times in the cases of users deleting files off of their desktops! The dashboard gives us a great overview of what is happening with the software, as well as easy user/PC/Mac maintenance.

Pros

Ease of setup, maintenance, user self restores, AD integration.

Cons

From time to time, the off prem hosted data store goes offline, only a few seconds at a time.

### "Good backup solution"

November 6, 2016

5.0

After trying out 4 or 5 backup solutions, I've found CrashPlan to be the best of them. Good coverage, performance, and value for money.

Pros

Does what it's supposed to do, doesn't hog the machine, good versatile service for different situations.

Cons

As a developer I'm dealing with some special files it had problems with. Other than that it works great.

### "Very stable and reliable"

July 17, 2019

4.0

Pros

CrashPlan has never failed me. I have used it for years to access my desktop from my laptop while on the road and I was always able to quickly recover any file I needed that was on my main computer. It also of course performs daily backups of my data to the cloud, and that offers me piece of mind.

Cons

It's not terribly intuitive to use, but once you figure it out it's makes sense. No other complaints.

### "Crash Plan Review"

April 2, 2019

4.0

Pros

That is backed up your images and documents that you choose.

Cons

It was slowing my computer down and took forever to back up my raw files ( they are large files). Then when I need to find files to redownload it was hard to find and not an easy process. I took it off my computer as it just made it too slow .

### "Life saver as well as data saver"

May 23, 2019

4.0

Pros

Great unlimited backup, versioning, easy to manage pool of computers, highly customizable. Remote restore as well as local restore, let's you access your files remotely in a sense when in a pinch.

Cons

Cache tends to balloon and take up tens of GBs of space, need to be manually purged on a semi regular basis

Pros

We have Crashplan installed in every computer in our lab to backup computer data. We previously have huge data lose due to a mechanical errors of hard drive and thanks to Crash plan we are able to save some data.

Cons

Your computer will slow down a little bit since the software will run in the background.

### "Good Backup Solution"

March 15, 2018

4.0

For the price, this is a very good cloud backup solution.

Pros

Easy to install and setup, the price is nice with no limits on how much storage you can use which is very convenient and cheap.

Cons

Support isn't the greatest. Recovering files is not straight forward enough to use troubleshooting is not as easy as it should be.

### "I'd rather break an arm than have to use this"

June 21, 2019

1.0

Pros

Literally nothing. This is the worst software.

Cons

One of the worst pieces of software I've ever used. Will kill your battery, CPU, and bandwidth — all that constantly, no matter how long you leave it to run for, and \*for nothing\*. You won't even be able to get your backup back should anything happen.

### "Great solution"

December 5, 2019

4.0

Gives peace of mind and helps back-up the servers for unforeseen problems

Pros

I use it it back-up a server that stores a LMS and a website and it does this very well. We never have problems and everything is stored nicely.

Cons

It would be great to have a bit more flexibility in what is retained. Not the software completely detemines what is retained (e.g. 1 set per hour for 24 hours, 2 sets per day for 1 week, 1 set per day for 1 month. Or something similar)

### "Great product"

September 17, 2015

5.0

I've been using CrashPlan on about 45 endpoints for the last year or so. It has been very reliable and does exactly what it says it does: backs up your files. I rarely have any issues with their software or the backup process.

Pros

Ease of setup. Scheduled backup reports. Simple licensing model.

Cons

The only real issue I have is that restores have to happen over the internet -- there is no option to have a hard drive shipped to your location. I am using the MSP platform with CrashPlan PROe.

### "Crashplan - the true silent backup software"

September 16, 2015

5.0

My unit uses CrashPlan for end user backups. There are several ways of setting it up. We use onsite management with cloud storage. The initial backup takes a while but it can be set to run in the background just like the incremental backups. We also have it set to take advantage of idle time and increase the resources used when they are not otherwise occupied. CrashPlan enables the user to do restores or they can be pushed from the administration console. It also does versioning of the backups which is especially useful when a user gets ransomware. Their customer service is amazing though we have had very little reason to contact them. They are also constantly trying to get in contact to ask what you think and what changes they can make.

Pros

Great software system that does what it advertised. Great company.

Cons

cloud is always dependent on bandwidth. I don't know what can be done about it but in some of our slower areas restores can take more than a day.

### "Just buy it. You can thank me later."

September 17, 2015

5.0

I've been using Crashplan - both the home and Enterprise versions - for a couple of years. It just works. Backups are painless, restores are quick and they have quite possible the best support I've ever encountered. Updates are smooth and we've never had a problem with them.

Pros

Fantastic support. In over 30 years in IT they have possibly the best support I've seen. Everyone is friendly and VERY knowledgeable.

Cons

You actually have to buy the product. If it was free...

### "CrashPlan is my insurance plan!"

October 26, 2019

5.0

This is one of those software that you are glad you had, especally when you lose your data.

Pros

Once set up, there is nothing you need to do. This app just runs in the background. I have access to the various versions of the same file. Once in a while, I go to Crashplan and check if my files are there and verify them it is working. I do not feel any performance degradation so it is good.

Cons

Once in a while, I encounter errors. That's due to my fault because I shut down my notebook during a back-up session. But, it will recover automatically after I turn on my notebook.

### "Do the job, silently"

February 9, 2021

5.0

We were looking for a solution for real-time backup of data from our various computers without recurring manual operation.

Pros

More than easy to install, setup and monitor. Then the application is doing the job and backups data in real time.

Cons

The administration console is a bit austere. But ultimately, this is not what we ask of this kind of application.

### "Great for peace of mind and works when needed"

December 13, 2018

5.0

Excellent

Pros

Knowing that if one of our users loses any data we can get it back, we don't need it often but it has definitely saved us a few times. We install it on all of our users computers and they don't even know it is there until they need it, it is lightweight and easy to use. Support is also excellent.

Cons

There really is nothing I do not like about it, we have tried a few different backup solutions and this is by far the best.

### "There are better options out there"

May 18, 2020

3.0

Sucked. The one time I needed the backup it said it hadn't run because I didn't run an update. I lost 4 months of financial data.

Pros

It is fairly functional to run constant backups on your system.

Cons

Downloading files, viewing them, archiving and many other functions are impossible. Beyond that I was double charged two different times for two separate companies that I manage. That's 4 extra charges. There is NO support. There are NO refunds. There is no easy way to cancel. I had to keep disputing charges with my bank until they cut off my account.

### "Crashplan is an exceptional product"

September 16, 2015

5.0

Prior to Crashplan, we had no unified way of backing up client PCs, and no way to tell when backups had run. Now we are able to offer our clients a simple and effective backup product, and we are able to see when PCs were backed up. We've also been able to restore hijacked files, and the process of upgrading hardware has been simplified with Crashplan's easy restore process.

Pros

It runs silently in the background, without bothering the user. The dashboard on the server offers a bird's eye view of all our clients, as well as reports when a device doesn't back up. Customer support has been exceptional on the few times when I've had a problem (always because of something I did, not the product's fault.)

Cons

There has been some user confusion on the right process for restoring/adopting PCs after replacement, but Crashplan's new version will streamline that.

Business cloud backup plan is superior to some others.

Pros

Excellent Cloud backup option. Backups are easy to configure and restoring single deleted files is so helpful.

They got rid of the residential version that was a great product for the price.

### "CrashPlan Review"

September 29, 2020

This software offers a simple and effective data backup solution.

Pros

This is an overall great data backup solution. I have used this for many many years for backing up my parents personal and small business computers. Great tool.

Cons

I cannot think of any real cons for this software. There are some cheaper options nowadays for data backup. However, this is still a great tool.

### "A good option for online backup"

September 17, 2019

4.0

We use CrashPlan for online backup of PCs, in combination with local image backups.

Pros

CrashPlan retains file versions practically forever. It backs up continuously, which has saved me a couple of times when I accidentally made changes to files.

Cons

The client software could be easier to use and could have less impact on system performance. Pricing is now somewhat expensive compared to other options.

### "Best bang for the buch"

September 29, 2017

5.0

Pros

Easy to install and use in a hybrid setup, easy to deploy to users, unlimited storage (which is just awesome), customer support is good and they REALLY know their stuff!

Cons

The only real con we have experienced is that our admin staff don't always get notifications from the server about machines that haven't backed up in a bit. Other than that, it's been pretty great!
