### "Reliable cloud backup service"

December 31, 2018

5.0

Pros

Once installed, CrashPlan runs in the background and provide seamless data backup and storage to the cloud or an external hard drive. They have affordable pricing and plans for small businesses.

Cons

The initial set up can be a little bit cumbersome but otherwise, I have not had any issues.

### "YES! Can't compete with CrashPlan!"

January 24, 2019

5.0

Pros

The program just works. It does a great job at backing up your stuff. As well the price is just unbelievable. We have used CrashPlan for 7 years now.

Cons

Every once in awhile it takes a bit to get the backup engine started, but that is usually only once or twice a year after an update.

### "Great App and worth it"

September 23, 2015

5.0

We have been using Crashplan now for 3+ years. It has taken very little time to maintain and it just works. We have about 80 accounts on it backing up close to 160 devices. We also use it to back up our file servers. We still back up to tape, but it is a lot quicker to restore a lost or deleted file from within Crashplan than it is off the backup. We typically use it on all our Mac and PC laptops and the users don't even know it is in the background working. Great tool.

Pros

Very easy to set up. You can set it up and almost literally forget that it is there. It odes what it says it does and it does it very well.

Cons

I wish they would find a way to have this Crashplan as an app that would back up your iPhone or Android device.

We had a piece meal solution that did not work well, then we purchased Crash Plan Pro. Support is amazing through DataLink and Code42. It has save my organization lots of money, and has proven reliable.

Pros

Cons

### "it caches on the local machine so it uses a lot of space"

December 15, 2019

5.0

I am not an administrator but I find datto to be a better albeit more expensive solution

Pros

It is a good back up system overall and has a free version. It can back up an entire network from a windows server

Cons

the cache will eat space if you use this on a workstation. You can resolve this by clearing the cache but it fills up again. Make sure you have enough space for the cache!

We had lost too much data and wasted a lot of time using various solutions for data backup and recovery. It was time for a simple, comprehensive solution!

Pros

Cons

It's not free, but what in this world is?

### "Code42 CrashPlan Review"

September 8, 2017

5.0

We use this primarily for backups of staff laptops and desktops. Our staff travels constantly around the world, so we need a reliable method of insuring backups are performed wherever they are. We receive regular notifications when backups haven't been completed keeping us up to date on who is in danger of not having a current backup.

Pros

Code42 CrashPlan application is very easy to deploy and even easier to maintain. Deployed the application to over 150 field sales associates with little or no input or assistance. The application is almost self maintaining. Used the restore functionality on many occasions and have been successful in keeping our field sales associates technologically ready and current. Easy to deployment, easy to use, and a great support team.

Cons

The movement from Cold Storage could use a little more work. upload speed is a bit slow, be prepared to wait. This is not a problem with the product, but a problem with ISPs.

### "Easy to setup and easy to use"

September 12, 2017

4.0

Automatic backup at a good value.

Pros

I chose to use this product as it is a great balance of value and functionality. I use it to backup my entire home desktop computer contents .

Cons

What I don't like is that the files are not stored in the cloud as the same directory format as they are on my computer. I would like to just be able to go there and download a single file if I needed to.

### "It just does its job - works without a hassle"

March 14, 2018

5.0

Pros

I have been searching for the right backup tool and finally I found it. I had only two criteria: do the backup job dependably and possess an easy-to-use user interface. I am glad that I found CrashPlan, it meets both criteria.

Cons

Sometimes it occupies the CPU a bit more than it would be unobserved, but it is far from the disturbing level.

### "The product is excellent. The new interface is not"

April 10, 2018

3.0

Pros

The product itself is great, and the price is extremely competitive for what is essentially unlimited storage. When it's working, it's very light on footprint.

Cons

The new interface in the new software needs work. A lot of work. It's extremely counter-intuitive, especially in comparison to the older (4.x) version of the software. The windows service is also prone to crashing.

### "Great Product"

September 16, 2015

5.0

My company has used Code42's CrashPlan Pro for several years and we could not be happier. Backup an restoration of end user data has been seamless and without fault.

Pros

Ease of use from an Admin and End User point of view, deployment is easy, backups are accomplished without fail. Time saved in reinstalling user data is almost immeasurable.

Cons

With any product it seems the biggest issue is End User error. While the issue is not with the product itself, it is end users either backing up everything on their machine or not saving data to folders that were specified.

### "Great option for power-users, but not so good for average consumers"

December 3, 2019

4.0

Great way to keep your data safe in a vendor neutral way.

Pros

Great peace of mind for keeping your data safe from failing hard drives, file corruption, and ransomware.

Cons

Setup includes language that would not be easily understood by the average consumers. Not recommended for the less tech-savvy.

### "Awesome and safe!"

February 22, 2017

5.0

I have used Crash Plan for about 9 months, I started with the free plan, and after a couple of weeks I decided to go for the pay plan. This software was very easy to install, and I find it user friendly, it took me less than 10 minutes to be up and running. One of my favorite things is that you can look back at any of your previous backups and select a file that was backed up and bring it back to your computer. I use it both on my PC and MAC, it works great on both. Also they have a very friendly customer service.

Pros

Easy to use, very user friendly. Reasonably priced.

Cons

Love everything.

### "Easy To Use"

November 27, 2023

5.0

The one time I experienced an error in backing up, we just had our IT person remote in, and fixed it.

Pros

I don't have to do anything, the Backup happens automatically.

Cons

Nothing so far, since my introduction to the software.

### "Crashplan PROe"

September 16, 2015

5.0

We use Crashplan PROe for end user and server backups at my site. Its great to not have to worry about potential data loss, and have versioned files available if needed.

Pros

Excellent Customer Service - Anytime I have had issues my support has been stellar. Ease of Use - I like that once it's installed for a user it keeps out of the way and protects their data without them having to think about it.

Cons

I'd like to see some better customization of the application and better support for installing the app with automated tools.

### "Great app at a great price. It just works."

April 26, 2016

5.0

We are a nonprofit with many people in the field that don't connect to the domain regularly. So, a standard backup wouldn't work for us. We tried locally attached external storage. The users slowly ran out of room and didn't know how to purge data. We sure didn't want the end user to be able to delete all backups. CrashPlan's central dashboard lets me see who isn't backing up and how much data is backed up. I can control who can delete files and how long the deleted items are stored.

Pros

Central dashboard, on the fly changes to configuration, ability to have multiple configurations for backups. Easy setup and installation.

Cons

Newest version requires local server. Won't work well for our configuration.

### "Not bad but not great"

July 17, 2018

Off site backup

Pros

For the price it's one of the best offsite backup services Speed seemed fine as long as you have a good connection

Cons

The software feels so old and dated that it's not fun to use. Other offsite services have nicer apps

### "It was great for home software until they discontinued it."

October 12, 2017

5.0

Pros

The software is well developed, and the features were outstanding on the personal side of things. Intuitive and straightforward.

Cons

Now they are only business software and as a result their prices are climbing. It no longer stands out in the industry like it once did.

### "It just works"

July 20, 2018

4.0

Pros

Great solid backup application, just install, setup the account, select some drives, and they will be backed up. Set it and forget it.

Cons

Not much to complain about, but their admin page does not allow us to automatically get an emailed invoice. So every month I have to login, go to the invoice section, download the invoice, and email it to our finance team.
