With that being said, there are still several nuances that have been addressed to link the Aclaro system to our own. I feel very fortunate that the staff involved with BHP Billiton have been excellent in working with us and made the time to improve the system for our users. Pros It is a good database for reserves Cons Some of the interfaces and connections are built for linking to systems we do not have linked and has created some issues when editing within the PetroLook system. The software is customized to each client's specific needs. We first implemented the software in 2009 and had a major upgrade in 2014. Aclaro is very knowledgeable of the our industry (oil and gas) and understands our needs and expectations. The product is easy to use and Aclaro delivered on the results we were expecting. The product is fairly inexpensive compared to other products in the marketplace. My only concern with Aclaro is support. They seem to have a lot of turnover with support staff in the Houston office. From my experience Aclaro is a pleasure to work with and their products are only getting better and better. They are very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and always very helpful and responsive with quick turn-around time especially when it's an "urgent/important" matter. They are quickly becoming an industry standard for reserves management and reporting. What they can do is really is quite amazing and it helps that their programs are so customizable to each of their clients, so there really is no limit to what can be incorporated into it and achieved - if you can think it they will go to all lengths to build it. It really is comforting when you know that the people building the product you are paying for really enjoy what they do; the folks at Aclaro are always wanting to learn and expand their knowledge base to create a great product. They are fully engaged with each of their clients and listen to what their clients want/need; they offer great feedback and are able to translate into layman's terms for those who are new to working with them and/or the logistics of how their software works. They are very personable and know the importance of developing a strong relationship with their clients; they treat each client as their #1 client no matter how small/large. In terms of cost, when compared to other software companies, who claim to have something similar but end up charging an arm and leg for a sub-standard product, Aclaro is very reasonably priced and you certainly get more than you pay for as they are able to customize their product to fit your needs. As far as ease of use goes, Aclaro's software is much easier to use for the basic user compared to other softwares, however, similar to other softwares the admin (depending on their skill sets, of course) will have a relatively steep learning curve. All in all, I enjoy being the admin and working with Aclaro on building and designing our customized petroLook, it is one of the reasons I love my job.
