Cons Sometimes the emails dont get through, only accepts our emails from the Institution. Director, Software Development Market Research Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Core features are nice, the product needs better attention to detail" November 3, 2016 3.0 for the most part, if we're simply using it to pull a stock form from a database and have it merge values and send email, it does that quite well. We have more problems when we use the HTML editor to build messages for one-off jobs. For instance, the functions and scripting command embedded into the HTML code are not protected against the HTML validator, turning scripts like \[\[ if Age > 17 \]\] into \[\[ if Age > 17 \]\]. This requires our end users to use the raw editor which they are not as comfortable using and reading HTML. The process of marking invalid email addresses is also buggy and doesn't appear to always work. In our use, we've found that less than 50% of the records with bad email addresses fill the integer field we've designated with a value of 1 to tell the email address was bad. Pros the feature set they strive for, the combination of scripting features plus a less technical means of building email jobs. Cons Some features are buggy or at least have side effects that are frustrating to work around. Pros While we don't use this very often (usually about quarterly) because we don't receive nor send out much email, when we do send out an email announcement to all our customers, this program is the one I run to. Took me several hours over the course of a week or so to input all my customer information (I like to do things one at a time vs. an upload or merger), now that all my customers are in the database, using it and employing it are a breeze. It's super easy to add new customers as they come in. I make sure to do it almost as soon as I can so things don't build up, and I don't get behind. All the boxes of the software are easy to fill in, and it really allows me to manage all the different lists I create with all our different type customers. Cons It's limited. What it can do is terrific. After using it for a long time, I am now finding things I would like to do that this version of the software can't. While none of the new ideas are pressing, I may have to find another email/list management software within the next 6-18 months that will allow me to expand how I want to contact my customers. I like that it is completely under my control (software, no SaaS, no monthly recurring costs). It is very powerful, well documented, and continually improved. It allows attachments (something I haven't found on any Saas). Cons It requires a mail server (something every website hosting package comes with and is no disadvantage). The handling of unsubscribes, forwards, preferences, and webversion links is less convenient compared to an SaaS. Tracking costs extra (at an affordable rate). In today's world of CRMs and Marketing Automation Services with integrated metrics and reporting, it's hard to find a place for this software. But I can tell you where it excels for us now... deliverability. Gammadyne is our "go to" whenever we need to manage mail sending to clients and want to continue to use our own mail servers. Unscientifically, we have found this to give us the highest deliverability rate than even the third party services with all their "SMTP systems" and white list agreements with ISPs. Since you have complete control over the send operation you can meter it or turn on the fire hydrant and send large batches. But beware it's pretty complex. If you're not very technically oriented then you're better off going with any of the umpteem other mail services out there. Or perhaps you can hire Gammadyne to configure the system for you? If you want complete control and probably the highest deliverability you can get, Gammadyne Mailer is the way to go. And the support has always been fantastic. Obviously, it will never replace larger-scale E-Mailer Server Software packages but it represents a good compromise for the small-to-medium-sized user. Pros Its relative ease of use, especially for a novice, and its thoroughness of design and execution. The task seemed simple enough to someone like me who is not that computer literate but no-one could tell me how to do it. I was then told about Gammadyne Mailer and with a little help from a friend I ws able to easily create an email that pulled the information needed from the spreadsheet and sent it out to my customers. Within 30 minutes I was receiving payments to my paypal account and started sending out teh goods. It may be the first time that I have used Gammadyne Mailer but it won't be the last. The features offered are amazing. We have evaluated other Mailer software, but never found anything as powerful as Gammadyne. Although the interface has a bit of a learning curve, once you get the hang of it it's easy to navigate. The most powerful feature is by far the database connectivity. Again, not for the novice, the connectivity allows us to manage the lists centrally within a database, as well as log a variety of different variables. Definately worth a try!
