Comments: Daily I use this tool to validate the user interface. Whenever there is a use case which I need to resolve in our product, I directly open this tool and start scratching. Yes, I start from the scratch, by having the components separated as a collage. Then I skin the UI by placing them in the positions which looks subtle and usable. Skinning the UI with this tool is easier. Just pick and play and the simplicity of this tool is THE key thing that I like in this tool. Minimized UI is something that we can achieve by splitting the UI into different frames. We can place the components in our desired place to check if customers can feel the importance of the applied element in the page that we are building. We can easily put ourselves in the user's shoes and think from their perspective to check if we are working on a usable interface. Moreover, the linking between the pages/tiles help us to see how the transition between each pages looks like. I usually go with RAW prototypes by scribbling in my notes. After I started using the Balsamiq tool, I go ONE STEP BEYOND scribbling. Yes, I do mocks and share with my visual designers to think through the page/feature that we want to build. This has helped our designers to a great extend. The time of making them understand the flow and designs has drastically come down. Also, the number of iterations has minimized which in turn has improved the quality of the designs that we are converging. of course, the productive has improved a lot in terms of peer-to-peer level convergence.

Pros: Ease Of Use. Quick Search. Default Icon set. The switch between Wireframe and Sketch i modes easier. I personally like the linking between the pages.

Cons: Designing the interface for Mobile Skins, and apps for Apple Watch seems to be a show-stopper. This has to be addressed. At times the screen resolution doesn't supports to take the screen shot from a laptop and to use it in the Balsamiq tool.

Recommendations to other buyers: Amateur Product Managers and Designers who are starting their carrier can start scribbling the mockup UI and draw wireframes using this tool. Any complicated page can be changed into a simple, usable screen by separating the UI into multiple chunks.

Pros: This is my go-to wireframing tool when I just need to get an idea down on something more than paper.

It's simple to use thanks to the drag and drop interface, with plenty of predetermined UI options like forms, buttons, menus, pickers, etc.

It's also ideal for presenting interactive prototypes to clients thanks to the linking feature and full-screen presentation option. I also love the option of "sketch" or "wireframe" so you can make it your work look like a quick draft or a clean wireframe.

While there's a short learning curve to use this product, there's tons of help to be found over at the Balsamiq website. I got plenty of tips and tricks to use Balsamiq more efficiently from their blog posts.

Cons: The UI library could use a bit of an update. It would also be good to customize them more than just resizing, especially for picky clients who want a hi-fi mockup. Changing the color of the dropdown buttons or changing the button background color AND text color, for example. If I could double-click on an element and then be able to select specific things, it would be perfect.

It would also be useful to add another font option. Just having one font for the entire project is rather limiting when trying to recreate a client's website as closely as possible to sell them on the new UI design.

Overall, Balsamiq is sort of like the "quick and dirty" version of more advanced wireframing tools. It's fast and easy to use but may seem like a downgrade if you're used to more high-end programs.

Overall: Quick wireframing and mockups without having to go on a course to use it. A great way to get your ideas down and shown around.

Pros: I mainly use Balsamiq to wireframe ideas, it's light and fast for the job. I like how you can quickly translate ideas to screen in no time in black and white. I use it mostly to create wireframes to present the ideas quickly with the team and brainstorm on top of it. It has ready to use components for different form factors so you don't need to draw/create anything from scratch, just drag and drop. In case you need to run a quick paper prototype usability test, just print your screens and you are good to go.

Cons: Though it is a robust tool to work in silos, it misses the collaboration part. In the cloud age, the expectation is to quickly add team members and take feedback on the flow, structure or the solution itself in real-time. Default small canvas size is also an issue if you need to draw multiple screens, you need to manually configure the canvas size as per your need. Also to make things interactive you need to export the screens in PNG format and use another prototyping tool to connect them all.

Overall: Does the job quickly and efficiently, great to have collaboration and prototyping capabilities.

Pros: I've experimented with several different wireframing softwares, and Balsamiq is definitely my favorite. I love that it focuses on product functionality, rather than design elements. I generally find wireframing for design to be distracting and preventative in coming up with a functional product design. Favorite features include:

- Built-in shape templates make it fast and easy to mockup any sort of software or application

- Black + white, hand-drawn feel removes distractions + allows me to focus on the actual product

- Desktop app has one time license fee

- Exporting to PDF is simple, and you can include links within the PDF that allow the user to mimic clicking between pages

Cons: Although I love the simplistic nature of Balsamiq, some people might be frustrated with the lack of certain functions:

- Wireframe is not dynamic - only exports to static file formats

- Built-in shapes might be restricting if you're looking to build something custom

- Lack of folders, etc for organizing multiple pages, so if you're designing something complex you may find yourself searching for which page you left off on (this is something I would add if possible)

Overall: Simplistic nature of the software allows me to design software products quickly and effectively - files are easy to share, and have been very effective in communicating with my dev team.

Pros: Used a lot in my previous work. I was not at all having expertise in mockups but the tool is so easy that in a week I started completing the mockups for the complete project. Having the chrome integration is actually so helpful that I don't have to worry more about storage also. Availability of readymade components and icon is the beauty of the product. It enables a normal person also to put some super cool design stuff and the idea behind the design.

Cons: If Balsamiq enables integration and collaboration capabilities it will be nice.

The prototype we design is quite a row team can provide now some lea and flat components and icons.

Pros: It is easy to use, friendly, you can make base models, prepare presentations to users, make several versions that allows you to select the optimal one and leave the history of other models, insert bootstrap icons, symbols to make it more similar to the final version, place annotations

Cons: When saving duplicates the symbols, it is difficult to erase them because when deleting they are removed from the ready models.

Overall: It is very good to make models and discuss them with end users, and with developers, it is easy to use and very friendly.

Pros: Balsamiq allows you to make speedy, basic wireframes and nail down all the details of your site/interface before implementing or designing them with graphics. The best feature is being able to depict any possible element used in web design: Menus, radio buttons, text boxes, popups, forms, anything you can imagine. It also allows you to show those items in different states--for instance, if you needed to depict a drop-down menu that had been opened to view all the available drop-down options. The deep customization allows you to work out every detail of an interface before going to production. Revision histories and alternate layouts provide lots of room for creativity--a critical part of building great user interfaces.

Cons: Some of the features, like revision histories, are hard to figure out at first and require a short learning curve. It takes some time to play around with elements and find all the available options, and also requires time to realize what elements are available to use. It's difficult to browse elements and all their states; you have to select them, and then dig deeper within the element's settings.

Overall: My overall experience with Balsamiq has allowed me to create A to Z interfaces, complete with live links and elements, to test and share concepts with my team. It's made it easy to share ideas for interface design and has become the first step to every new site we build out.

Pros: The ease of use and the numerous options make Balsamiq a great tool to use to create quick wireframes. I've used it many times to create designs to illustrate ideas. The note feature allows you to add clarifications to the items in your wireframe.

Cons: I find the navigation a little clumsy. Additionally, when you go to the full screen view or hide panes and other menus it's a bit difficult to get it back to the way it was before. Also, the export feature isn't great. The output tends to be too small to read if you have many items in the board.

Pros: It has a lot of pre-built shapes, icons, containers, symbols and form elements that make it easy and quick to build mockups for webpages or mobile app screens. The auto-save has been a life saver as I have a bad habit of not explicitly saving things I have work on. Ability to export mockups created in multiple formats makes it easy to attach the mockups in documents or with user stories for design and engineering to work on.

Cons: External images copied in to one project are available as assets only in that project and not others. So, I have to copy past them each time, which is inefficient. Some of the shapes, text formats are not as customizable as I would have liked. So, I have to find work arounds that are a little more time consuming

Overall: I am able to create mockups quickly and efficiently to communicate design ideas to different stakeholders. It helps as a great starting point before we refine the design and move to high-fidelity mockups

Pros: I have a lot of clients that are not able to clearly express their requirements or visualize the outcome of the project. Step in balsamiq software that helps me to showcase the forms and development of very rapid prototyping screens. The software has the option to create mobile screens, grids, all the easier ux elements in a different sketch format. This gives the client an idea of what the product will look like and also confirm that it is a model and not the final product

Cons: Editing of grids or adding rich text elements is a bit painful process

Overall: An excellent experience for rapid prototyping and a life saver for requirements discussions

I use this software to show our development projects to our clients.

Pros: I like that it is a multiplatform application (mac & windows). It is very simple to use, ideas can be easily translated into your "canvases". The insertion of objects and other components is very intuitive. It is easy to present a project on different platforms. When I have to use the full screen mode, it works well, the links that I activate on my screens make navigation through the project real and allow our clients to better understand the idea.

Cons: Using the software, I noticed that in recent versions the symbol libraries are duplicated and I do not know why. It does not have an interactive whiteboard, which allows other team members to join together to develop the same idea.

Overall: Among the benefits I have obtained, I recognize that it has been much easier for me to present ideas and that they are approved by our clients, more quickly. I invest a short time to propose an idea.

Pros: Balsamiq is a great way to describe the flows (or potential flows) of an application or website, without getting bogged down into UI-level details. The library of low-fi components is super useful to quickly and easily communicate a concept, and have it evaluated at the level that you would like. I like the scrappy styling, as opposed to doing some greyscale geometry in another tool (which just doesn't set the right tone).

Cons: A minor wish I have that I would like Balsamiq to be be able to do, is actually integrate with other tools like Sketch. I'm not sure how that would work, but being able to work using our own design components (we have a shared GUI pack) but then be able to flick over to a "sketchy" versions of these would be super valuable for elements of the screen that are very particular to our products.

Overall: Easy to use, drag and drop wireframe and design flow communication tool. Allows for the designer to control the focus of feedback to be at a higher level than UI detailing and really discuss the merit of the experience that is being proposed.

Pros: It doesn't matter whether it is a web site or a full blow desktop or mobile app, Balsamiq will make it as quick and simple as can be.

One of the things that Balsamiq really shines at is that a newbie can start using it immediately as it has a well thought out userinterface. But then dig deeper under the service, and you'll find all sorts of powerful features that allow even the most complex mockup to be created with ease.

I also love the look of the created mockups. Unlike some tools that try to create photorealistic versions of your design, Balsamiq focuses more on creating a proper wireframe mockup (although other options are avialable) and there actually look darned cool and are very presentable.

Cons: What's not to like. Balsamiq does exactly what it claims to do and it does it beautifully. I've used it for years and I honestly can't think of any times when I thought it was lacking.

Overall: A beautifully created tool that is a pleasure to use.

Pros: When I'm collaborating with designers and/or engineers on a new website or mobile app experience, Balsamiq is my go-to resource for creating mockups.

First, it strikes a very good balance between features and complexity; it's quite easy to find, manipulate, and edit the visual elements you need, even though the range of elements is quite large and the "canvas" is so customizable.

Second, the "hand-drawn" style of the elements is perfect for early-stage mockups, because it allows you to create pretty good approximations of the look-and-feel of a user experience without suggesting (or being responsible for/beholden to) pixel-perfect mockups.

Cons: I sometimes wish the Balsamiq team was more aggressive about releasing new visual elements in the tool to reflect new design styles being produced out in the wild, but usually I can either use a similar element or mush other elements together to create the same effect.

And at the end of the day, this isn't a deal-killer--after all, Balsamiq allows you to create approximations and capture the intent of your design, and if there were an endless supply of element options, you might get too caught up in trying to be precise (which hamstrings the designers).

It had helped me to create rapid wireframing in the shortest possible time!

Pros: As a desktop software (one of the 3 options), it is easy to easy and execute to come up with fast wireframes for team collaboration and clients' previews. Learning curve is short with its compact and common features found in UX software. It has a library of standard UX (usability or user experience) elements or templates which I can click and select, and start creating the wireframing pages or interfaces.

Oh, the software is very affordable. It now comes with 3 versions - Balsamiq Mockups 3 for Desktop (Desktop App), Balsamiq Cloud (Web App) and Balsamiq Wireframes for Google Drive (

Google Drive Add-On). It is a great tool for UX designers who are just starting out working on UX.

Cons: However, I found that it is only good for basic wireframing. If I need to go for more complex UX elements, it is not readily found inside the library. Besides, it does not contain plugins that can extend the usefulness of the software. There are no 3rd parties that Balsamiq that can partner with and help integrate and make the software more powerful and versatile. I wish that Balsamiq Studios can improve on this aspect of the software.

Overall: Time and speed! One can pick up the software in one afternoon - short learning curve!

Pros: Balsamiq is one of the most intuitively easy tools I've used in a long time. I had to teach myself how to use Balsamiq and was able to quickly learn the basics on my own and get a page mockup ready in very little time. If you take the time to dive deeper, there are some very complex features that can really improve your mockups as well.

Cons: The only real complaint I have about Balsamiq is that the search feature doesn't work very well. It seems as though a lot of the assets available to you are not tagged correctly which can make searching almost ineffective. It is usually easier to dig through the category menus when looking for a specific asset.

Overall: Balsamiq has allowed myself and others at our company to quickly put together mockups to thoroughly explain and show new features or changes we would like to make on our site. They are easy to share and easy for others to understand.

Pros: Balsamiq is designed at creating rapid, low-fidelity static mockups. It does that very well, and is so easy to use. If you use Balsamiq Cloud, it's also easy to share and collaborate on mockups. The Cloud offering has a nice way to publish the mockups to use as a presentation for business customers.

The symbol capability is great, allowing you to re-use components of a mockup across a project and even override the defaults from a symbol. I've seen other tools that fall down at this aspect.

Cons: Balsamiq is not intended to create high-fidelity mockups or animation, so it is not comparable to some mockup tools that have those features (Framer, Adobe XD). However, I think the price reflects that. Balsamiq is very affordable for some back-of-the-napkin type mockups that you can throw together quickly.

Pros: Balsamiq is amongst the easiest to use wireframing programs out there and I use it for simple, moderate and complex wireframe designs.

I like its large user interface library and the multiple format options I am allowed to convert my final mockup into.

Being able to hyperlink elements on my wireframe to other design screens I have created allows me create clickable design protoypes and this is my favorite Balsamiq function.

Cons: Versioning of files on the Balsamiq Desktop app. is done manually and on occasions when I have lot of design iterations I am working on ,it practically draws me back.

Overall: I use Balsamiq for creating conceptual wireframe architectural designs for websites and mobile apps.Using Balsamiq for my wireframe designs is easier than using paper and pencil ,while making it easy to share my designs with my team members.

Comments: Balsamiq remains an extremely simple and easy to use tool for wireframing - infact it is the default choice of a bunch of product managers, specially at the beginning of their career. The ease allows you to ship out basic wireframes at an amazing pace. Because of this reason it strongly fits into the early stage startup culture. I have personally developed the first version of web apps, mobile apps on balsamiq and never has my dev team complained. It gets a bit tricky to use this extensively at an evolved product stage but nevertheless the tool works and works just fine.

Pros: Simplicity. Anyone, literally anyone can use Balsamiq. The web demo is simple and then all the leading dev and business tools have a balsamiq app - be it Google for Work, Confluence.

Cons: Balsamiq - is a great skeleton wireframing tool and that remains its biggest limitation. It leaves a lot to be desired. Especially the moments when the PM's want to add colors and make the exact replica designs, Balsamiq might not be the best thing to use. + The license fees for a tool which allows only this feels a bit on the higher side.

Pros: As a BA, whenever we receive technical specification from the client and break these down to user cases, it becomes important for us to design Mock-ups and confirm if we are on the same page as to the client before we rush into development to do so Balsmiq Mock-up is the one of the best tool around.

Designing the User interface design is faster with available element in User interface library. Just need to pick and drop items in the mock-up.

It is simple & easy to master. Interactive prototypes can be easily created by linking the mock-ups together to give operation view in the real time.

When you are done with prototyping the requirement then export option is also available. Either you can export the single mock-up or all together in PNG format or export the Mock-up as PDF. Export to PDF option is my personal favourite as I usually attach the mock-up in mail and share initial design with client and hence entice their feedback that let us to improve our design as directly from customer perspective. PDF exported file facilitates navigation between mockups through links present in pdf ensuring better understanding of functionality to the client.

It also has chat box and multiple user can operate simultaneously to create mock-ups and access the existing mock up as well . This provides the better communication between the team member and a quality experience of software development

It facilitate plugin from Google drive and Zora allowing to add mockup to and issue.

Cons: I think the tool lacks in integration with other tools that are used in software design as well as export option is limited to export as PDF or PNG and you can't Print to the printer directly. Except that I think it's a wonderful tool as it's web, desktop as well

as Google drive plug in is available

Pros: I love this tool because it's easy to use, to learn and has a lot of elements and capabilities to build awesome Mockups for desktop, tablets and smartphones. We use this tool for prototyping and wireframing. With it we can communicate with the client in a much better and clear way. We reduce the design and development times with the implementation of wireframes

Cons: The price, It's a little expensive, I have the desktop version and don't test the web app yet but also looks a little expensive to me in comparison with others apps.

Pros: I like how I am able to show wireframes and software architecture design from different aspects ,thanks to my use of Balsamiq. I can create click-through portable document file(pdf) to model my design ideas.

When compared with a substitute tool like Sketch ,I find Balsamiq easier to use for the purpose of creating quick wireframes and thus ideal for a fast work environment.

Cons: Balsamiq is pricey and thus not the design tool of choice for small teams, who are trying to bootstrap. If I were working for a small team,I obviously will seek alternatives to Balsamiq.

Overall: I use Balsamiq whenever I need to get quick feedback from my team for my design and wireframe ideas. Thus,I am using Balsamiq to save time.

Pros: Balsamiq has a short learning curve and comes with a simplified user interface, making it easy for new users to understand its work environment.

It comes with a great search feature which makes it easy for me to search faster for graphical images needed for my wireframes.

Cons: I wish I am able to integrate my Balsamiq with other great design tools like Adobe XD,Invision, and Edraw max pro. which I currently am unable to do. Thereby missing out on ways to make my wireframes better.

Pros: It is always a challenge to show how the software will look like before developing it, but with balsamiq it is actually possible by creating mockups very easily. I love the user interface. I use to create mockups and wireframes them in a proper way to show to them to my clients.

To show them the progress i create flowchart which is easy to build and export it in pdf or png which is another good feature and i like it.

It has huge UI library which is very helpful.

Cons: Multiple displays organizations not supported in balsamiq.

Overall: Well, my over experience is good and using this software from few months. Hope i won't get any hurdle.

Pros: - Allows me to build wireframes for our web-based software product without wasting the time of our lead designer.

- Allows me to better explain concepts to our developers, especially concepts which would be hard to explain just through words - interactions between elements, actions on clicking of buttons, etc.

- The learning curve for this software is not very high - anyone with basic powerpoint skills can get started quickly.

Cons: - There are limited set of charting elements available on the tool

- One cannot rotate / tilt elements

Overall: facilitates better communication, saves time and leads to overall lift in product design level

Pros: It's incredibly Simple. I can generate a usable wireframe mock-up in just 10 or 15 minutes with the use of symbols and default options

Cons: It just doesn't quite go where I'd like it to go. It's not easy to refine designs and it has some unusual export options (misplaced alpha channels and such)

Overall: For what it is, it is amazing. Very good software that needs to be supplemented with additional programs for further refinement. I highly recommend it.

Pros: The first factor which attracted me to Balsamiq years ago,was how lightweight it was.It has probably the most intuitive and aesthetically pleasing user interface of any wireframing software I have ever tried.

In my organization,we have been able to create a Balsamiq template which sets the tone for most of our wireframing designs.

Cons: It is obviously pricey and most independent designers just starting up ,probably will seek cheaper alternatives.

Pros: I like how this feels like digital pencil and paper; cutting out an in-between step of uploading or scanning drawings while still giving you the flexibility and look of a sketch.

Balsamiq is super-easy to use, with a minimal learning curve.

The interface is intuitive and with a fast load time, so nothing gets in the way of designing.

There are many pre-populated UI items which can also speed up the process.

Cons: While it is great for low-fi mock-ups, you'll need to use something else for your high-fidelity designs. For organizations with limited budgets, that means paying for multiple tools, which may not be ideal.

Overall: Quick, efficient low-fi mock-ups. Generous free trial to play around the tool and see if it will work for you & your team.

Pros: This app is really a diamond in the rough. The app was introduced to me in an online course on Conversion Rate Optimization. I didn't even know I needed this until I saw it...then I knew. I instantly downloaded it for my desktop and got to work (I was only using the free trial, so I knew I didn't have a endless time frame). I made a lot of wire frames using Balsamiq. SUPER easy to use, especially coming from someone who is not a designer. It's all drag and drop. I caught on within the first couple minutes of using the tool. This was extremely helpful when I had to explain ideas to our developers. I was able to download a wire frame I made with Balsamiq and our developers could see my vision. I really liked the sticky note feature--it allowed me to add notes to our developers about why certain items were in the wire frame.

Cons: I only used a free trial, so I guess my con would be the price. We don't do enough wireframing to invest in Balsamiq, but I wish! I miss seeing it on my desktop!

Pros: Fast and easy wireframing tool that has a low learning curve. Enables speed of execution and is relatively cheap in price. The tool lets you hyperlink across mockups thus enabling you to depict interactions via clickable prototypes.

Cons: The tool only allows creation of skeletal wireframes. It does not allow the creation of high fidelity mockups like other tools such as Invision. The tool does not have a rich library of icons and templates. The software also does not offer any flexibility in manipulating shapes via rotate or tilt actions. The side menus by default tend to occupy a lot of space and cannot be easily minimized.

Overall: Saves time, ease of use, better collaboration with team

Pros: It was easy to use this mock up software, and they had a number of "template" options to quickly add to help speed the design process along. I was able to make a mock up of several pages of my companies website in half the time using this system. It also allowed for easy modifications, and duplications - which is a plus! There is also an easy way to download your design for sending to others.

Cons: The example items you can use are few and a bit outdated, and there was no simple way to add a new asset to a project without going back to the main menu, adding, and then going back into your project (which is kind of a pain).

Pros: Balsamiq is quick, easy to use and does a good job of prototyping screen design and other UI elements.

Cons: Has a dependency on Adobe Air which wants to update almost every time I use the software! Would be good to have more "psudo dev" code-like behaviour built in.

Overall: We use Balsamiq to prototype our software. It allows the dev team to visualize the software and make changes before we start coding. When you see a UI design take shape quickly, you can make changes to improve it, and understand what you're building much better. The software that is eventually built is much stronger as a result.

Pros: The UI is straight to the point, setting up a new project with some prototypes is easy and all control types are easy to find. With the recent integration into Office365 it has become a natural choice for me and my team.

Cons: Sometime the rough aspect of the mockups looks a bit too artificial and too far from the final product. We tend to opt for designs that look as close as possible to the final product the team will develop, since this helps our stakeholders understand better our proposition.

Overall: Balsamiq is integrated into our Office365 subscription and it is hard not to use it to communicate visual design and ideas when developing bespoke software, it does a great job overall.

Pros: I love how easy it is to bring my ideas to life. It's very difficult to get a thought out of your mind and onto paper using words, especially since I am nowhere close to being a programmer. All I can do is say "here's what I think it should look like and how it should function" and this program allows me to build that.

Cons: I wish I had a little more customization options with the build in features. For example, Sometimes I want to change the style of a page intentionally to show that it will be different than the rest of the pages I've created. I'm kind of limited to the one style they've created, even though it is a good one.

Pros: I've used Balsamiq a number of times to wireframe a website. The somewhat cartoony approach gives enough of a visual so customers can get an idea of how it will be structured, but not so much that they get lost in thinking it will look exactly like the mockup. There are plenty of features to make both, a good desktop and mobile mock up, and also the right amount of "functionality" to have links so a user can get a feel for how it will work before actually implementing.

Cons: Getting going was a little challenging at first, but there is a fair bit of trial and error to find out how to do things. I'm sure there are tutorials and help, but it wasn't so difficult that I had to seek those things out.

Overall: Balsamiq mockups allowed me to take client ideas and turn them into a rough wireframe. It works really great for this, similar to using UXPin or InVision, but stripped of design down to the basic elements. I've found this useful as a starting point to get the customer thinking of flow and layout, but not yet getting into overall style.

Pros: This is the tool we use for all our mockups. It's very simple to use and flexible, it won't produce a finished and polished design, but that's not the point. The point is to transmit the idea of the design in a fast and simple way and Balsamiq does it well.

Pros: - Easy to use

- Affordable

- The myBalsamiq online version lets you edit from anywhere without installing any software

Overall: Balsamiq makes a great product. I used the myBalsamiq online subscription as it was easier and more portable - I could log in from any computer and keep on working. There are tons of predefined widgets to use, so making mockups becomes a quick and easy task.

One of the things I didn't like was the snapping capability. It's very imprecise. I know this is a mockup tool for low-fidelity wireframes, but even so, I prefer being able to snap to more precise alignments and sizes.

Another thing I found difficult was printing. I used the tool for awhile to generate hierarchical site maps, which was immensely valuable, but unfortunately, our sitemap was so enormous it was very difficult to print. I ended up having to export a PDF, then crop and adjust everything in Illustrator so that I could get it to a printable size. (myBalsamiq does have PDF export to page capabilities, but the info ended up too small. I wish you could tell it to fit everything onto multiple pages at a certain scale.)

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are a nonprofit or educational institution, ask support politely and they are likely to offer you a steep discount.

Pros: Balsamiq Mockups can help you in designing prototypes and showing it to your users to know very earlier if they will accept your interface or not, and what can be improved. It has many different components so you can reach your goal very easily. You can choose themes to make a singular experience. Your customer (or key users) will love to see what you intend to do by using Balsamiq Mockups. I do recommend it, for sure!

Cons: I guess the licensing fee is a bit high for solo developers. For a company, it's fine to pay monthly to use the software, but I guess it can be expensive if you don't use it regularly. It has a 30 day trial, you can check if it will serve your purposes though.

Overall: Balsamiq Mockups helped me with my final grade project. Everyone liked it. The screenshots in the documentation, the interactive screen prototypes and the visual components made the difference. I'm glad to have Balsamiq Mockups as an ally.

Pros: Balsamiq is a great tool to quickly make mockups to show the general idea or functionality of software, websites, etc. It's terrific for designing additional features and functionality for existing software that already has an established style. Balsamiq makes it extremely easy to align different elements with automatically snapping guides whether you're moving an element with your mouse or nudging it with your arrow keys. That definitely helps with efficiency.

Cons: You can only design using a single font, which can be an issue if you need to easily show that a piece of text on the design needs to be monospace, for example. This isn't a tool designed for exact, pixel-perfect mockups, so don't expect functionality beyond wireframing.

Pros: There are different things I like about this software, starting with the ease of use, is pretty straightforward to create interface mockups; also the functionality about linking the screens is super useful.

Another good thing is the purchase of the product, we are getting used to having a "renting" plan on software where we pay monthly fees; but this software is a one time purchase, so once I bought it, I can use it whenever and wherever I want.

Cons: I really can't find a con on this software, it does what it does, is simple but for prototyping (or wireframing) is eprfect.

Overall: As it is super easy to use, I can create UI interfaces pretty fast; and as we know, the faster we have something to show, the faster we will receive feedback on changes/modifications/improvements before starting working on the real deal.

Pros: You can do prototypes fairly easy for web and mobile applications. It would help you to speed things up in your team and it would be easier to transfer your ideas to the UI/UX team as well. You will have a lot of predefined assets that will simplify your work.

Cons: It would be awesome that you could export this directly to other tools like photoshop or sketch and so a designer will be able to easily improve your prototype.

Pros: I was a total newbie to mocking up, but this tool made it SO EASY. It's similar to powerpoint in intuitive usability, and being able to map out the logic is incredibly helpful for the development team and demonstrating mockups.

Cons: Sometimes there is a variable difference between the sizes of the screen squares...that sounds like a strange problem, but basically if you put a web browser container on one screen, it can sometimes be slightly different than the next, making presentation a little clunky.

Pros: Balsamiq is really easy to use. It was introduced to a team that had minimal experience in wire framing and the team was able to pick it up in no time. In addition to it being easy to use it added real value to the organization by allowing for more detailed wire framing to help flush out ideas.

Cons: I would like to see more options for organizing the wire frames created rather than just grouping them by project. In large projects it can be a little overwhelming trying to find the correct file.

Pros: It allows even terrible-at-art developers to throw together screen layouts and designs, and chat with the team about where items should be. They can be easily moved around, and it's very simple to learn and use. Great for initial project work.

Cons: Although the mockups are useful, they can also look quite unprofessional, which sometimes means spending more time tidying up or redrawing layouts to show to management in other tools.

Pros: This software allows me to take an idea and throw it into the screen. I'm not a design person. I have a hard time putting my thoughts into reality when it comes to designing software, but this is a great place to start. I have the ability to make something look like I want it without having to worry about the technical side of things.

Cons: I'm able to make something look the way I want it without having to worry about the technical side of things...which means when it's time to make my idea happen in real life I'm usually disappointed. :)

Pros: One of the most intuitive design tools for "dummies" out there. I know that some product managers are more design-skilled than others, I'm not. And that's why I love Balsamiq so much. It allows me to take my ideas and concepts and turn them into an something my designers/devs can work with and understand exactly what I want.

Cons: Interactive mockups abilities are somewhat limited. Old-fashioned look which some love (I don't). Even though I said it's easy-to-use, some non-technical users may find it challenging at times.

Pros: Balsamiqs are so easy to use and understand regardless of your level of experience in working with design tools. All of the potential items that you would draw or design up before sending to a client or end user are grouped together and easy to display and showcase initial options before time and money is wasted by physically drawing up the design of a website or paying a graphic designer to mock up a web page.

Cons: Some of the mock ups can appear very rough as if someone has designed them with a very pressured hand on a piece of paper. Additional customisations would be great or the ability to create your own that you may use and potentially upload and sell via a balsamiq store would be ideal.

Pros: I like the ability to import images and to use such a large variety of graphic representations. It makes it so that usually you can find a feature that represents the website feature you are trying to convey to clients.

Cons: I sometimes had a hard time with copying the pieces within a mock up, and also managing the mock ups when saving them. If you save and then open a new one it wouldn't always become available as a recently edited file. It caused some delay with having to dig through files to pull up the correct one.

Pros: It's quicker than drawing on paper (probably even if you're good at it), much easier to save and share, and above all you can make the mockups interactive, which of course you can't on paper.

If you're not a graphic designer or a full time UX designer, it's great to quickly test ideas and show them to your clients.

If you use Confluence, there's a nice plugin that allows to embed mockups in your pages and is possibly cheaper than the standard plans.

Cons: It's a quick and dirty mockup tool, don't expect to give any preview of style.

Not the cheapest tool around, and the free account provides very limited storage.

The interactivity is somewhat limited. Eg: you can't show a popup on the same page, you have to link to a copy of the first page, with the popup added. You can end up with lots of pages...

Pros: It is incredibly easy to use and looks decently professional. It has a lot of different UI/UX features you can put into your wireframe, and it is easy to implement all of them and link them to the right pages/bodies. Additionally, you can export via pdf, so none of the recipients of the wireframe have to own balsamiq to view the wireframes.

Cons: Not all of the components for the wireframes can be linked to different pages, so you have to be creative in which ones you choose. It doesn't allow for super complex interfaces, but is better served for simple interactions in my opinion.

Pros: Balsamiq allows me to quickly and efficiently build mock ups of user interfaces for my projects. I've used it to develop websites, phone applications, and screens for new software projects. It uses drag and drop shapes, and an informal "hand illustration" style that conveys the fact that these are only mock ups, not actual screens, without looking like the mess my own hand-drawn mockups would be

Cons: I would like to see more styles, beyond the "hand illustration" style for other occasions where a more formalized final product is needed

Pros: The software was very easy to learn quickly and make mock ups which looked nice, but not so final that it was hard to get people to give feedback about what functionality you were trying to accomplish on each screen. They very clearly look like mockups which everyone is ok with giving good feedback on, but also get feedback from software engineers that I worked with that they were very easy to translate to code.

Cons: It was difficult to demonstrate extremely dynamic or custom functionality, which limited the software designs that we could develop slightly.

I love to share the website wire frame with designer usings Balsamiq.

Cons: I think this is what Balsamiq should improve (or lacks today):

1- A proper onboarding

2- A better navigation of features

3 - They should also have a way to share some design modules across all the projects. Something like a global directory of small pieces of my design.

Comments: Brilliant tool for sketching prototypes. Especially like the look and feel (or lack of it) - the seppstefano guy seems to think this is a drawback rather than a deliberate decision by the tool maker. Who buys a tool without even researching what it does? Anyway. We DID research it, and it's been brilliant.

Pros: It's very quick; the output is impressive to nontechnical users; it doesn't focus the conversation on the look and feel when we're still in the "what should be on the screen" phase; it's very well supported and nice and easy to extend.

Cons: It's slightly fiddly sometimes, until you get into it. Only real gripe for me is I can't set a wireframe as a background to another one, to show what a popup would look like. Have to copy the whole thing into a new diagram. Not a deal breaker at all.

Pros: The software is extremely simple to use and supports dragging-and-dropping items to quickly create designs. The default icons and images are generally sufficient for prototyping designs.

Cons: The art style of most of the default icons and containers is abit too 'cartoony' for my taste. Resizing items is done by selecting a size from 'very small' to 'large' in discrete steps, meaning in some cases having the right size for you design is not possible.

Overall: The software does what it is designed to do, which is to quickly create drafts for designs and for that we use it regularly. However, due to a few limitations in how the images look and function, it comes just short of making 'presentation'-worthy images.

Pros: - It's exceptionally easy and fast to use.

- Most of the common UI elements are provided.

- Ability to create user flows within the wires - guiding the user through the page(s).

Cons: - No ability to collaborate on the same wireframe (though I understand they are addressing this issue).

- These are very low res wireframes and may not be appropriate for client-facing deliverables.

Overall: I love this product for quick sketches and wireframes. We use it all the time internally to efficiently communicate ideas.

Pros: I've been always one of those old school users who prefer a simple sheet of paper and a pen to make a prototype or a mockup of a landing page. That's why I liked Balsamiq, it has super minimalistic design and very powerful features at the same time. Creating projects in Balsamiq is fun.

Cons: Balsamiq needs some time to learn its components, skins etc. Though it seems simple at first sight, Balsamiq is a powerful tool for professionals and experts. Some experience and UI prototyping is required to get the maximum out of this app.

Overall: I often manage website design and redesign project. Balsamiq is one of the tools I use to create tasks for designers.

Pros: Balsamiq has an easy to use interface which facilitates putting together quick mockups for mobile apps, desktop apps, and websites. It supports a large variety of UI controls, so putting together an interface mockup that reflects your idea is totally feasible. The pricing is great as well, putting it in reach of small teams.

Cons: It would be nice if Balsamiq had more export options, generally the point is to do quick and easy wireframes but for the cases where I've spent a good amount of time putting together more complex layouts it would be nice to be able to export to Photoshop or InDesign for some enhanced tweaks.

Hi Jahiezer and thanks for sharing your thoughts about our tool.

Are you referring to the style used in Balsamiq?

In this case, you may want to try out our more polished skin, as detailed here: https://docs.balsamiq.com/desktop/skins/

Pros: This easy-to-use software is almost fun to use. Drag and drop, mix and match, you're creating the mock-ups you need in seconds. It's beauty is in the simplicity.

Cons: The library of symbols/designs/shapes seems very limited. Balsamiq needs to add more variety to allow for better flowcharting, web mockups, database design, etc.

Overall: When someone drops by my desk to brainstorm an idea, I can pull up Balsamiq to start building the user's idea before the eyes, in real time. Great for idea visualization!

Pros: Balsamiq offers users a great way to quickly and conveniently make mockups. They have 2 styles - one where everything looks like a sketch and one where it looks like computer designed element.s

I love the drag and drop nature of it - it does make it easy to use and it's great for putting your ideas out there.

Cons: It's pretty limited beyond what I mentioned above. It don't think the cost justifies the expense when tools like Sketch, Figma, and others do a lot more for a small increase in price.

Overall: I used it at my internship this summer. It was decent, but i do not plan to use it anymore.

Pros: Balsamiq is easy to use. Myself and my team were able to pick up this software and use it without any training. We used Balsamiq to wire frame ideas to accompany requirements and it helped our developers see the big picture. There are a lot of buttons and options included and you can also import your own images if you are already working with something you'd like to keep the look of. We had a small number of projects at one time so the price was reasonable.

Cons: I didn't really experience many true cons with Balsamiq. The only thing I would say to potential customers is that these are true wire frames. If you are looking for something more 'sales ready' design this tool may not be for you.

Overall: Balsamiq cloud made collaborating designs with team members easy.

Pros: This software is the easiest to use and can get your ideas and concepts across quite quickly. One time license purchase.

Cons: This is purely a mockup tool, and therefore you can't apply a design to your mockup once signed off. If you create your wireframes in Sketch however, you could apply the design on top of the wireframe quite easily, where you can complete two phases of a project versus just one for Balsamiq

Pros: We have used Balsamiq for UI mockup designs. It has most of the basic features that you need to design an UI. It is not that costly to use. It has some learning curve but overall easy to use.

Cons: It doesn't have very enriched UI components to use in UI mockups. It looks very basic and black and white. Wish they had more options to design it as close to production UI as possible.

Pros: Is very simple to use. It really helps you when you need to make a prototype.

Could be used to make a real feeling for an application or software.

Cons: As a developer, I would like to have the collaborative functionality because when you work on teams, this functionality is very important

Overall: Well...in a few words, when I think on creating prototypes, Balsamiq Mockups is the first option to me.
