### "Basalmiq for wireframes creation "

May 11, 2023

4.0

I used Basalmiq to create wireframes, mock-ups and UI prototypes. It offers a simplified, low-fidelity sketching style, which allows me to quickly capture and communicate my design ideas.

Pros

Balsamiq's focus on low-fidelity wireframes allows for rapid iteration and feedback gathering. It encourages a collaborative and agile design process, enabling teams to iterate on ideas and make quick adjustments before moving on to high-fidelity designs.

Cons

However, it should be noted that Balsamiq's sketchy, low-fidelity style, which I personally dislike for its simplicity, can also be seen as a limitation for those who need more polished and faithful designs.effectively to your needs.

### "Prototyping for all"

August 9, 2024

5.0

I love it. It's quick, simple, and expressive, the extensive primitives are very helpful, and the more effort you put in the better it gets. It's also incredibly useful to be able to share a prototype as a website and get comments.

Pros

1\. Generating interactive prototypes incredibly quickly, thanks to a very small learning curve and a reasonably intuitive interface. 2. With a little extra effort, generating high-fidelity prototypes that pretty much match anything other (much) more expensive and complex packages can do. 3. Modifying prototypes on the fly in brainstorming meetings. 4. Openly sharing focused prototypes with others in a few clicks. 5. Dynamically incorporating Balsamiq slides into Miro boards.

Cons

As the creator, when a prototype gets moderately complex, it's easy to get a bit lost as there is no overall graph of the site you have created. You can add a site map as a slide, but it just lists the pages with no way to see the link structure.

### "Effective and easy to handle Mock-up Tool around !!"

October 5, 2018

3.0

Pros

As a BA, whenever we receive technical specification from the client and break these down to user cases, it becomes important for us to design Mock-ups and confirm if we are on the same page as to the client before we rush into development to do so Balsmiq Mock-up is the one of the best tool around. Designing the User interface design is faster with available element in User interface library. Just need to pick and drop items in the mock-up. It is simple & easy to master. Interactive prototypes can be easily created by linking the mock-ups together to give operation view in the real time. When you are done with prototyping the requirement then export option is also available. Either you can export the single mock-up or all together in PNG format or export the Mock-up as PDF. Export to PDF option is my personal favourite as I usually attach the mock-up in mail and share initial design with client and hence entice their feedback that let us to improve our design as directly from customer perspective. PDF exported file facilitates navigation between mockups through links present in pdf ensuring better understanding of functionality to the client. It also has chat box and multiple user can operate simultaneously to create mock-ups and access the existing mock up as well . This provides the better communication between the team member and a quality experience of software development It facilitate plugin from Google drive and Zora allowing to add mockup to and issue.

Cons

I think the tool lacks in integration with other tools that are used in software design as well as export option is limited to export as PDF or PNG and you can't Print to the printer directly. Except that I think it's a wonderful tool as it's web, desktop as well as Google drive plug in is available

### "Simple and easy tool for creating low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes"

April 17, 2023

4.0

Overall, I love the simplicity and intuitiveness of this tool. If you are looking for a product to quickly put together a wireframe or sketch (based on rough ideas) for feedbacks or approvals, then this can be a great option for you.

Pros

I have used Balsamiq for more than 3+ years to create lo-fi wireframes for mobile and web applications. What I love the most about Balsamiq is that it follows UI/UX industry standards, so you can easily use their pre-built templates or icon library without making much changes. It helps you create detailed wireframes in a very short interval of time. I like the ability to export the wireframe designs in a .pdf or .png format. If you are using Balsamiq cloud app on your browser, then you can collaborate with other team members on the same wireframe in real time. This is a very useful feature, especially in those projects, where there are multiple design team members involved. It helps you in incorporating their feedback and comments without much back-and-forth.

Cons

What I disliked about Balsamiq is that the exported .pdf file doesn't have very good resolution. Also, if you need a tool for hi-fi designs or interactive prototyping, then this may not be the best option. There are better products/tools available in the market.

### "Streamlines Web Design and Building Landing Pages"

August 4, 2022

5.0

Pros

My agency uses Balsamiq for web design projects as well as building one-off landing pages for clients. The software is marketed as a wireframing tool butalso has powerful project management and collaboration capabilities. Because of Balsamiq, we have landed more clients and projects which is all due to our ability to visually communicate our vision with our clients and present it to them in a way that makes sense. Before Balsamiq, all wireframing was done in a separate platform as client communication and collaboration and our files were stored in a separate location as well. It made project management as well as file management and versioning extremely difficult and we would often end up with mistakes because certain edits or updates did not make it onto the latest version.

Cons

Usability testing is a great feature but it isn't really all that useful currently since our wireframes don't look much like a real product.

### "The best software for UX processes"

February 19, 2021

5.0

Very positive. Has sped up workflows and iterations within processes massively.

Pros

I like the limitations of this software. The stripped back and lack of styling allows me to focus my time only on UX. Previously, I have had issues where doing UX in XD or Sketch the client would be trying to make too many visual considerations. Since moving to Balsamiq this has streamlined communications to focusing on interaction points, hierarchy and best practices.

Cons

Not a con, but being able to assign labels for titles (H1, H2, H3 etc) would really help improve integration with CRO and SEO specialists. Also being able to have titles with multiple lines of text. A larger and more consistent base of templates would be beneficial - i.e. landing pages, ecomm, brochure sites. Currently there's a lot of app based and molecule based templates and I don't utilise any of these.

### "Quick, simple and efficient wireframing"

January 2, 2020

4.0

Balsamiq is the agency's go to wireframing tool. The application allows the UX team to quickly convey their ideas to the creative designers without the expectation of deciding the visual branding of the site. Whilst the feature set is fairly limited and the tool hasn't been upgraded recently it is still the most efficient method to draw up wireframes we have found.

Pros

\- Probably the easiest wireframing tool to use - Focused feature set aimed at creating wireframes in the minimum of time - Very quick to learn with some depth for power users - Can be very quick to use for experienced users - Ability to download pre-made components from a central library or share components easily within a project - Much cheaper than some competitors - Very stable application

Cons

\- Wireframes can look child-like and unprofessional with some settings - Currently based on Adobe Air technology which is outdated - No recent feature releases and no fixed release date for the next version leading to a feeling that the product is not moving forward - Some expected features are still missing such as an easy way to create click-through interactive prototypes

### "Best Wireframe Software"

August 8, 2019

5.0

Pros

The best attribute of this software is that it is very easy to use and user friendly. There are different versions available that you can either have a free trial or pay for a license. The free version comes with less features but the main ones are still available. Its interface is very easy to use as it is very much drag and drop. You are also able to convert your wireframes into different formats in order to save them, such as pdfs.

Cons

There are very few User Interface elements which is a disadvantage to this software as UI is constantly being updated. There are also little collaborative features to this software, which is a disappointment as you have to physically show others in order to gain feedback instead of inviting them to edit or view.

### "The best tool for sketching an initial layout or prototype of ANYTHING"

February 7, 2020

5.0

Amazing tool if you need to showcase something or discuss the initial layout

Pros

I love Balsamiq and I have been using it for a while now if there is a work that involves UI/UX tasks that I need to define or explain. The tool has pretty much all you need to make an awesome prototype.

Cons

### "Balsamiq review"

January 1, 2024

5.0

I like Balsamiq because it lets me wireframe quickly and easily, has an easy-to-use design, and lets me work with other people. Some people might think that its simplicity makes it hard to use for more complex designs, but it's still a popular choice for fast prototyping and ideation in many design projects.

Pros

Balsamiq's best features are its quick prototyping with an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface, its ability to help people work together with real-time edits, and its low cost. Users of all skill levels can quickly learn how to use it because it has wireframes that look like sketches, a lot of different uses, and seamless interaction. Respondent customer service makes the experience better for users.

Cons

Some users find that Balsamiq's approach to high-detail design work is limited by the fact that it is meant to be easy and low-fidelity. Its sketch-like look might be a problem for projects that need more polished images, but it works well for early-stage prototyping. Also, some complicated projects might not have access to the more advanced design features that come with other tools.

### "Very ideal for wireframe creation in software development teams"

January 8, 2022

5.0

I still recommend this tool for the team who likes a tool for managing wireframes and prototypes. It gives the vital requirement for a mockup.

Pros

1\. Simple and classic look - Balsamiq gives an old-school feels to its components which I really like. It is simple and easy to blend to the documents/presentation you can add it into. 2. Drag and drop functionality - This tool is very easy to understand and manage. Training for this tool will not take long 3. Many components to choose from - Buttons, dropdowns, text fields, and more. From simple to up to date components, you can find them here. 4. Easy to manage tool 5. Great for presentation too 6. Output is comprehensive for the whole team of any role - Because it is simple and classic, all team members can appreciate it too: developer/QA/designer

Cons

1\. I think that the fact that it is too plain, it can limit the user from expressing what he/she likes the prototype to become. 2. The interactions/simulations with the components in Balsamiq is too limited 3. Collaboration for instant feedback is a limitation here

### "I love using Balsamiq as a tool to create simple + effective wireframes for web applications. "

April 14, 2018

5.0

Simplistic nature of the software allows me to design software products quickly and effectively - files are easy to share, and have been very effective in communicating with my dev team.

Pros

I've experimented with several different wireframing softwares, and Balsamiq is definitely my favorite. I love that it focuses on product functionality, rather than design elements. I generally find wireframing for design to be distracting and preventative in coming up with a functional product design. Favorite features include: - Built-in shape templates make it fast and easy to mockup any sort of software or application - Black + white, hand-drawn feel removes distractions + allows me to focus on the actual product - Desktop app has one time license fee - Exporting to PDF is simple, and you can include links within the PDF that allow the user to mimic clicking between pages

Cons

Although I love the simplistic nature of Balsamiq, some people might be frustrated with the lack of certain functions: - Wireframe is not dynamic - only exports to static file formats - Built-in shapes might be restricting if you're looking to build something custom - Lack of folders, etc for organizing multiple pages, so if you're designing something complex you may find yourself searching for which page you left off on (this is something I would add if possible)

### "Balsamiq is a great way to create quick wireframe to visually capture ideas"

January 18, 2018

4.0

Pros

The ease of use and the numerous options make Balsamiq a great tool to use to create quick wireframes. I've used it many times to create designs to illustrate ideas. The note feature allows you to add clarifications to the items in your wireframe.

Cons

I find the navigation a little clumsy. Additionally, when you go to the full screen view or hide panes and other menus it's a bit difficult to get it back to the way it was before. Also, the export feature isn't great. The output tends to be too small to read if you have many items in the board.

### "Useful low-fidelity mockups that allow designers to communicate flows, not UI"

February 1, 2019

4.0

Easy to use, drag and drop wireframe and design flow communication tool. Allows for the designer to control the focus of feedback to be at a higher level than UI detailing and really discuss the merit of the experience that is being proposed.

Pros

Balsamiq is a great way to describe the flows (or potential flows) of an application or website, without getting bogged down into UI-level details. The library of low-fi components is super useful to quickly and easily communicate a concept, and have it evaluated at the level that you would like. I like the scrappy styling, as opposed to doing some greyscale geometry in another tool (which just doesn't set the right tone).

Cons

A minor wish I have that I would like Balsamiq to be be able to do, is actually integrate with other tools like Sketch. I'm not sure how that would work, but being able to work using our own design components (we have a shared GUI pack) but then be able to flick over to a "sketchy" versions of these would be super valuable for elements of the screen that are very particular to our products.

### "Balsamiq lives up to its reputation as an easy rapid prototyping tool"

May 5, 2018

4.0

Pros

Balsamiq is designed at creating rapid, low-fidelity static mockups. It does that very well, and is so easy to use. If you use Balsamiq Cloud, it's also easy to share and collaborate on mockups. The Cloud offering has a nice way to publish the mockups to use as a presentation for business customers. The symbol capability is great, allowing you to re-use components of a mockup across a project and even override the defaults from a symbol. I've seen other tools that fall down at this aspect.

Cons

Balsamiq is not intended to create high-fidelity mockups or animation, so it is not comparable to some mockup tools that have those features (Framer, Adobe XD). However, I think the price reflects that. Balsamiq is very affordable for some back-of-the-napkin type mockups that you can throw together quickly.

### "Excellent for Quick Mockups"

August 22, 2019

5.0

I've been using Mockups before I start building websites or apps because it helps me visualize what I want my project to look like and to see how each element will look next to each other. Although I use other design/prototyping tools, I find that doing low fidelity mockups on Balsamiq is a lot quicker and more efficient because it helps eliminate assets and design elements that I don't need for my projects so that I don't waste too much time when creating a higher fidelity prototype.

Pros

This software was very easy to use due to its clean, basic interface and great keyboard shortcuts. I like that you can change the skin of your mockups with a cartoonish hand-drawn look or a more cleaner wireframe for that professional look. I also like the fact that it's a one time payment only and NOT a monthly subscription that you have to pay to use, especially in this day and age when almost everything is moving towards subscription based services.

Cons

I don't really have much negative things to say about Mockups just because it does what it was designed to do, but it would be great if there was an Android/IOS app for people who want to create really quick mockups on the go.

### "A no-frills mock-up platform"

March 20, 2019

4.0

It served its purpose nicely, and was a big help for our small business to manage software development. It may not be the most comprehensive, but it will certainly get the job done.

Pros

I used this software in my previous job to design new service features for our content management products. Balsamiq was useful in being able to very quickly sketch out and edit mock-ups and then share them with our development team. I liked the visual style they employed (made to look like hand-drawn sketches), and the palette of components, including smart phone screens, which were very nice when doing mobile compatibility layouts.

Cons

The software could be slow at times, and it lacked certain design I would have otherwise expected to find in a standard mock-up program. I would suggest looking at the hosted version instead of downloading.

### "Excellent software for daily use."

August 28, 2019

4.0

In my personal experience, it is a very useful tool, easily accessible, without the need for installation or previous configuration, which is used to make quick designs, diagrams, sketches, mockups, etc. It is quite versatile when improvised, it also allows access from any device with internet access and a web

Pros

I really like this tool because it is very versatile, I can make mockups, sketches, diagrams, etc. In a very easy and fast way, the interface is very intuitive and easy to use, any design that is needed can be created freely, it also has many icons and predetermined shapes, it has an adjustment system and a fairly useful grid that helps to work more precisely, what i like most is the number of formats in which i can export the projects, since it supports several formats such as pdf, jpg, png, etc.

Cons

It is a limited software in terms of customization of shapes, since it only supports changes in size, colors and texts, it serves for basic and fast designs, however, for more dynamic and specific models, it is not the ideal tool.

### "The beloved standard for wireframes"

July 24, 2019

4.0

Pros

Balsamiq's comic sans typography and collection of basic elements make it easy to build your wireframe without getting too distracted by making it look good. It's fast and easy to use. Also their licensing is very freelancer-friendly!

Cons

A more serious-looking but still neutral text and symbol library would have allowed me to continue using Balsamiq at my new job, where the comic sans and hand-drawn feel didn't work. At the time I stopped using it, there was also no Sketch integration - since I do mockups in Sketch, I want my wireframes in there so that they're easy to transform into complete mockups.

### "I use this application to make screen models for software developed internally in the company"

November 10, 2017

4.0

It is very good to make models and discuss them with end users, and with developers, it is easy to use and very friendly.

Pros

It is easy to use, friendly, you can make base models, prepare presentations to users, make several versions that allows you to select the optimal one and leave the history of other models, insert bootstrap icons, symbols to make it more similar to the final version, place annotations

Cons

When saving duplicates the symbols, it is difficult to erase them because when deleting they are removed from the ready models.
