Pros I've used this software for many different tasks - for laying out website ideas, planning mobile apps, and for brainstorming ideas. It's so easy and rapid to use - I've had people come to me with an idea, so I'll whip out Balsamiq and start visualizing their ideas on the fly while they're still talking. Love it, and the price is a no-brainer. Cons I really would like to see more shapes and templates available for creating realistic visualizations. The available shapes are a bit limited. It's fairly easy to use, a lot of companies use it so as a UX designer it doesnt hurt to know how to operate. Good for low-fidelity wire-framing. Cons Wouldn't use for high-fidelity framing. Personally I like Sketch because it plugs right into InVision. This is not meant for creating fancy UI and you still have to pay for the program. I like using Balsamiq to stray away from focusing too much on visuals in the early stage of prototyping. Pros The basic look and feel of the wireframes allow both designers and clients to focus solely on the user experience, in low-fi prototypes. Cons As time goes on and competitors are moving forward, Balsamiq is falling behing and feeling a bit outdated. Would be great to have more integrations. Switched from [Adobe XD](https://www.capterra.com/p/168423/Adobe-XD/) I occasionaly also design low-fi prototypes on Adobe Xd. I like that it's easier to move on to visuals when the mockup is in Xd. Pros First of all, it is free, so that is a big plus. The interface is pretty simple and it's a good way to make a quick mockup directly in your browser. Cons There is just better alternatives out there with more features that are also free. The interface (although simple and intuitive) is a bit outdated and could use a refresh. Also, the simple drag and drop interface makes it very easy to create a User Interface prototype in minutes. Cons I think the level of flexibility with UI elements during design should be increased. Pros 1) Simple installation process is the best thing that i see in balsamiq 2) Simple and easy to use and highlights the main features of the product and users find it easy to understand how to use this. 3) Pre defined tools and images /buttons are available to drag and drop to visualize your idea in few seconds 4) Freedom is there for the users to import images and other files to the canvas 5) Both web and desktop versions are available and web versions helps to access files from anywhere Cons 1) Does not provide advance dynamic features for selections 2) The mockup predefined buttons and sketches looks bit outdated and old Review Source KV Kevin V. It supports a large variety of UI controls, so putting together an interface mockup that reflects your idea is totally feasible. The pricing is great as well, putting it in reach of small teams. Cons It would be nice if Balsamiq had more export options, generally the point is to do quick and easy wireframes but for the cases where I've spent a good amount of time putting together more complex layouts it would be nice to be able to export to Photoshop or InDesign for some enhanced tweaks. I was able to get what I need out of it pretty easily, and would definitely use it again. Pros As a non-designer, it was relatively easy to wireframe some basic page templates quite easily using Balsamiq pre-set objects make it easy to layout sketches. Really easy to work and it was a solid project planning tool for me . Pros I use the Mockups for Mobile Application design and it made the creative ideas into a functional plan. The number of tools and templates is more than enough to be able to build a solid Mockup layout from the get-go. I had no training and lessons on the program but built a full Mockup by just using the trial version. I decided to buy after the Demo because of what you get for the money. Cons I had issues setting up the trial version of the program , but once it was sorted it was a dream to work with. Cons It's unrealistic, I personally prefer using something like Figma to create a low fi wireframe since you get a better idea of sizing, which is important to determine element placements. This allows us to talk to customers about HOW thing should work rather than what they look like. Our designers use the ideas to build into their visual design knowing we've already hammered out the functionality. Pros Creating mockups quickly and being able to share and collaborate with others is a huge benefit. Cons Some objects for more modern interface concepts are missing and must be created manually. Pros Balsamiq Wireframes is all built over HTML5, so you can start work very fast and start to collaborate. It has a lot of predefined icons and templates. Cons I think the price is a very big con. It is very useful when we need to have a creation base out of paper, and it is also very easy to share with others on the team, present at meetings, etc. Cons I do not see any negative points in this program. You can use a white board, but if some of your people are remote then this is a better option. Pros Ease of use, low fidelity prototypes, easy to share and can easily be shipped off as pdfs. You can share them with a distributed team and collaborate easily. Reduced gui design time with lower cost resources. Cons What's not to like? Balsamiq is great for wireframing if that is what you are doing. If you want interaction though you need another tool.
