### "Balsamiq review"

December 20, 2022

5.0

Pros

I am using Balsamiq tool in order to illustrate and representing every single page of my web applications. I am sketching several web components (e.g., buttons, inputs, labels, graphs, links, etc.) for each available page. I am describing events for each action (e.g., page navigation).

Cons

Despite Balsamiq interesting functionalities, its user interface could be improved by understanding other sketching tools.

### "Easily create project mock-ups"

July 12, 2018

4.0

Pros

This software was great for creating mock-ups of new service components and features in development. The interface was generally quite easy to navigate, and the building tools included all sorts of common tech components such as social media icons, phone templates, web browser nav, etc.

Cons

Using the hosted version, the responsiveness of the program could be a bit slow at times. Saving and timing out were also considerations for use.

### "Love, love, love Balsamiq"

June 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

Balsamiq allows me to quickly and efficiently build mock ups of user interfaces for my projects. I've used it to develop websites, phone applications, and screens for new software projects. It uses drag and drop shapes, and an informal "hand illustration" style that conveys the fact that these are only mock ups, not actual screens, without looking like the mess my own hand-drawn mockups would be

Cons

I would like to see more styles, beyond the "hand illustration" style for other occasions where a more formalized final product is needed

Thanks for your review, Michael. :) We just wanted to let you know that you can change the skin/style to a more formal one by using the dedicated option in the Project Info Panel. More details here: https://docs.balsamiq.com/desktop/projectinfo/ Hope this helps! -Virgin

### "Easy to learn, use, and receive feedback on your mockups quickly"

October 11, 2017

5.0

Pros

The software was very easy to learn quickly and make mock ups which looked nice, but not so final that it was hard to get people to give feedback about what functionality you were trying to accomplish on each screen. They very clearly look like mockups which everyone is ok with giving good feedback on, but also get feedback from software engineers that I worked with that they were very easy to translate to code.

Cons

It was difficult to demonstrate extremely dynamic or custom functionality, which limited the software designs that we could develop slightly.

### "Simple Software for Fast and Easy Wireframes"

September 28, 2020

5.0

My experience with balsamiq is great. Although it's not my primary design tool, I always come back to it when I want to make a wireframe really quickly. I absolutely adore the wireframe style they use.

Pros

Balsamiq is the fastest and simplest wireframing tool out there. It does exactly what it sets out to do-nothing more nothing less. Balsamiq creates lo-fi wireframes at record speed. All the components are already there for you to resize and configure, you don't need to download anything else. Sure you can use Figma or Sketch but to achieve the same speed, there's a bigger learning curve or some assets you have to download. Balsamiq is also a one time purchase which is great in this era of subscription-based software

Cons

Sometimes it's hard to scroll between it's large library of components. Also it's harder to create some more complex site maps when you're trying to make site maps using balsamiq, but that's not its main feature so it's okay.

### "Great mockup tools and very functional in my agile projects"

October 9, 2018

5.0

In general, my experience was really great, it fits perfect in our agile team for developing enterprise solutions.

Pros

Cloud and on premise offer. I can use the tool using cloud characteristics and also on premise. We use this tool in my team for creating mockups for our enterprise application developed in house.

Cons

There is not a MAC version. that's really bad, as a MAC user i can't use on premise solution.

### "Balsamiq is a great wire framing tool"

November 17, 2018

5.0

Pros

Let's face it, there are tons of option and ways to get your ideas down and organized starting with putting pencil to paper. Balsamiq is a rapid wireframing tool that has the feel of a whiteboard. It's fast and you get ideas down quickly.

Cons

There's not much that I did not like about Balsamiq. Maybe it could be integrated with other popular apps but that is something of a pipe dream.

### "Very easy wireframe editor"

June 6, 2021

5.0

I am able to create website application mockups I can send to development teams to produce functional web applications.

Pros

Very easy to use with a wide variety of components to use in your wireframe. Drag and drop editor is excellent. File export is excellent.

Cons

There isn't anything I dislike about Balsamiq, except perhaps the prices of version 4, which was quite a bit higher (US$89) than for version 3, but for dedicated design and development studios, it isn't that expensive.

### "Simple and effective wireframing tool"

May 28, 2019

5.0

Balsamiq is a great and straightforward wireframing tool that does the job really well.

Pros

The best thing about Balsamiq is that it is very easy to use, which means zero time spent on learning and training. There also many different elements that comply with the style guides of the major development platforms which makes your wireframes look closer to the final product. Linking the wireframes is very intuitive and easy to actually simulate the interaction with a simple click on a button. In addition, I liked the collaboration feature a lot as well as the integration with Drive. The export to PDF is definitely very useful to share the results with the others.

Cons

Nothing much is wrong with it, really. Text input and editing might sometimes be a bit sloppy. It also appears to become a bit slower when running in-browser.

### "Superb"

August 6, 2014

5.0

Brilliant tool for sketching prototypes. Especially like the look and feel (or lack of it) - the seppstefano guy seems to think this is a drawback rather than a deliberate decision by the tool maker. Who buys a tool without even researching what it does? Anyway. We DID research it, and it's been brilliant.

Pros

It's very quick; the output is impressive to nontechnical users; it doesn't focus the conversation on the look and feel when we're still in the "what should be on the screen" phase; it's very well supported and nice and easy to extend.

Cons

It's slightly fiddly sometimes, until you get into it. Only real gripe for me is I can't set a wireframe as a background to another one, to show what a popup would look like. Have to copy the whole thing into a new diagram. Not a deal breaker at all.

### "Great for mockups"

January 24, 2019

4.0

Pros

The sketchy lines make it so much faster to work because you're able to keep your head away from thinking in terms of finalized design.

Cons

There's nothing I can really think to list as a con - the software is very good at what it was designed for.

### "Simple wireframing that anyone can figure out."

August 17, 2020

4.0

Overall I've enjoyed using Balsamiq as a lightweight solution to quickly mock up a widget or interface. I've used it on dozens of projects and it has served me well. I've never encountered a bug or usability issue that has prevented me from completing work.

Pros

It's a simple wireframing solution that allows multi-page PDF exports. The available tools and controls are simple, which forces you to design with a wireframe mindset and not get caught up in the visual details. You can get creative with the included assets to create elements that are not built-in by default. Balsamiq supports saving elements as symbols so that they can be easily reused across wireframes.

Cons

I have a licensed copy of Balsamiq Wireframes, however that does not allow me to receive major-version updates. I paid nearly $80 for a license years ago, but in order to upgrade, I need to purchase a new license (albeit at a discount). I would also like to see a wider variety of predefined assets included out of the box.

### "Great Tool For Price-Conscious Users"

April 20, 2018

4.0

Pros

Balsamiq is lightweight is the way to go as far as wireframing for products, websites, and apps. It requires very little training to begin using other than general knowledge of design and prototyping.

Cons

Limited options for exporting/integrate with other tools in the design process. Charging users per project instead of a monthly fee is a bit odd for a product used on a fairly regular basis.

### "Basic but useful to get started"

August 18, 2019

3.0

Pros

It is very simple to get started with. Also for a very simple draft of a low fidelity prototype it does its job quite nicely.

Cons

It should provide more complete vector resources, the style of the prepackaged ones is a bit outdated and rough.

### "Don't be fooled by the seemingly playful looks this is pro software!"

April 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

Balsamiq gets the mockup experience perfectly right by giving you all the design and collaboration tools you need. By keeping the look and feel of the UI elements simple, the product forces you to focus on the actual result and functionality of your product, rather than colors, icons or pixel-perfect design.

Cons

I honestly love everything about this software! If I had to tell something I like least, it'd be that it only helps in the very initial phase of your product development and you'll have to use another tool to actually design your UI.

### "The fastest UI mockups"

November 29, 2019

5.0

We have used mockups just in special cases where we don't have artists or designers available, but because of that it says that is a great tool, because anyone, without being a designer, can use the tool without problems.

Pros

Is really easy to use, you just drag and drop the things you want (it has many different objects, like buttons, screens, maps, titles, labesl, etc.), accommodate them in the way you want and you are ready to go, you can export your mockups as images (or even as pdf). Also you can create hyperlinks accross screens, so you can have an interactive pdf that will guide you thorugh the screens you created.

Cons

It creates only gray mockups, I know that the name of the software is about it, but if you have an skilled artist, I think he/she cna handle it at the same speed but creating some mockups with an art style that is closer to the actual screen you want and not only a gray screen showing the position of the buttons.

### "A great mockup tool"

November 11, 2019

5.0

We were (and still partially are) using Balsamiq in the UX class as a learning tool for students so they can build their application sketches. It was easy to setup projects, invite students to use them and to share the projects among teaching staff members.

Pros

It is easy to use, it is intuitive and you can quickly build mock-ups and export them out as well as share your project. Balsamiq also allows to add some basic click-ability.

Cons

I wish there were more UI elements in the library, and that there was an integration of Balsamiq sketches with prototype tools such as Invision.

### "Great tool to create Wireframes."

September 23, 2018

5.0

Pros

The only reason for loving it is the simplicity. It took me a couple of days to get the best out of this Balsamiq. It is one of its kind with the perspective of simplicity. I love to share the website wire frame with designer usings Balsamiq.

Cons

I think this is what Balsamiq should improve (or lacks today): 1- A proper onboarding 2- A better navigation of features 3 - They should also have a way to share some design modules across all the projects. Something like a global directory of small pieces of my design.

### "Good & simple software"

March 3, 2020

5.0

The wireframes created with this software looks fine, in some minutes you can create your designs and share with coworkers or customers.

Pros

Is easy to use, for fast wireframes is fine, I just tried the windows edition, I'm not sure if there is another version of this sofware, probably don\`t, also you are capable to export like an image.

Cons

This is the other side of the pro, use some Adobe Productos to work, so, probably you have to consider that, because you have to install another dependencies.

### "Best Wireframing Tech Out There!"

February 17, 2021

5.0

When I need a mock-up in a pinch for our developers, I always go to Balsamiq. It makes my job incredibly easy and produces a super clean wireframe immediately. The pre-set buttons that you can drag are the best and I just won't use anything else for Wireframing!

Pros

Balsamiq makes it soo absolutely easy to make wireframes for new products. In literal minutes, I can have a complete mockup of a new feature - now just to be clear, these are just wireframes and don't have ANY design backing these up, but the wireframes are soo easy to generate when you just need something quick for your developers. It's super easy to use and I've never had anything but a great experience. It's so fast and gets the job done.

Cons

It's hard to say anything that I don't like it. This product is for lo-fi wireframes, not for anything design heavy, but maybe an integration with a design software would be great down the road. For what I use it for, it's perfect.

### "Great for quick-and-dirty prototyping of UX designs"

May 8, 2018

4.0

The software does what it is designed to do, which is to quickly create drafts for designs and for that we use it regularly. However, due to a few limitations in how the images look and function, it comes just short of making 'presentation'-worthy images.

Pros

The software is extremely simple to use and supports dragging-and-dropping items to quickly create designs. The default icons and images are generally sufficient for prototyping designs.

Cons

The art style of most of the default icons and containers is abit too 'cartoony' for my taste. Resizing items is done by selecting a size from 'very small' to 'large' in discrete steps, meaning in some cases having the right size for you design is not possible.

### "The Only Prototyping Tool You Will Ever Need!"

March 24, 2022

5.0

Pros

Balsamiq's UX is user-friendly, and its functionalities and features are suitable for beginners who aim to deliver quality prototype samples to their clients for all kinds of digital products before actually building the real thing.

Cons

I humbly believe Balsamiq should offer more integration features with top-rated software, on the other side, I wish they had offered more tutorials and video lessons on how to get the best out of Balsamiq
