Pros Balsimiq is so easy to use! It's fun to wireframe an app. You can do it so quickly and then send the wireframes to the client to get approval. Cons I can't think of anything I don't like about it. It does everything I need and more. It might be nice if it had themes or some way of changing how the wireframes look. Pros I’ve been always one of those old school users who prefer a simple sheet of paper and a pen to make a prototype or a mockup of a landing page. That’s why I liked Balsamiq, it has super minimalistic design and very powerful features at the same time. Creating projects in Balsamiq is fun. Cons Balsamiq needs some time to learn its components, skins etc. Though it seems simple at first sight, Balsamiq is a powerful tool for professionals and experts. I was able to create great Wireframes to show research participants that helped me with my research. Pros Balsamiq is great for creating lo-fi prototypes like wireframes. There are a lot of simple options to add to the mock up that allow clients and research participants to have a good understanding of how the actual website will look. Cons Although the software is meant to create wireframes, I wish there was a way to add actual buttons to the mock ups that lead to another wireframe. Pros The UI is straight to the point, setting up a new project with some prototypes is easy and all control types are easy to find. With the recent integration into Office365 it has become a natural choice for me and my team. Cons Sometime the rough aspect of the mockups looks a bit too artificial and too far from the final product. We tend to opt for designs that look as close as possible to the final product the team will develop, since this helps our stakeholders understand better our proposition. Pros Balsamiq makes everything we present to our clients very clean and professional looking. Plus, it has hundreds of layout elements and is very easy to use. The other day, I wireframed an entire website in twenty minutes, and the client had a beautiful wireframe in their inbox quicker than they could have imagined. Cons I really do not have any complaints with Balsamiq at all. Maybe wish it was easier to adjust the size and font of the text blocks we use, but that is not the main focus of the program. It's very difficult to get a thought out of your mind and onto paper using words, especially since I am nowhere close to being a programmer. All I can do is say "here's what I think it should look like and how it should function" and this program allows me to build that. Cons I wish I had a little more customization options with the build in features. For example, Sometimes I want to change the style of a page intentionally to show that it will be different than the rest of the pages I've created. While some may think that's a con, I really like that it forces you out of "design" mode, and into "Experience" mode. It is very easy to use, and provides common components required for sketching a website. It has great presentation mode to quickly demonstrate your ideas to clients or your team, and it emphasizes feature-first approach as it can be used to demonstrate layout and features before the nitty gritty graphic details. Cons Although Balsamiq is great, it lacks a lot of features. It has very little collaboration options to work together with your team. Resizing elements in Balsamiq is clunky, and it does not have a snappy drag and drop with grids which a lot of other wireframing tools provide. It can allow you to create a quick mock up or produce something in more detail if needed. Pros It has a great selection of modules to choose from and create a mock up. Copying and aligning everything is pretty easy to do. Cons There can be a learning curve getting used to the software, and sometimes it's tough to find what you are looking for. There is a search tool, but some of the items aren't super intuitive. One time license purchase. Cons This is purely a mockup tool, and therefore you can't apply a design to your mockup once signed off. November 4, 2021 5.0 Pros This is amazing for wireframes and UI mockups as it easily allows you to create them from scratch. The style of the elements (looks like it's hand-drawn) is great as it reminds the business that what I created are mockups. This helps keep the conversation going on projects, while not getting bogged down in specific style conversations (e.g. colors, etc). Cons Aren't really any cons; the software keeps getting updated with more elements, but I think it's important not to have too much, as it'll make it more complicated.
