I have been very happy with the tool and have used the Cloud, Desktop and Google Drive version. The main issue I have is that some people can't see beyond the sketch style and expect pixel perfect designs. Pros It is easy to use and allows you to blueprint UX/UI ideas quickly and easily. In a hour you can have a entire app or design sketched out. Cons The pricing and options are confusing and they have been trying to expand the product past it's core competency. Senior Programmer Entertainment Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Design with ease" October 22, 2019 5.0 We do mobile games, so sometimes making the UI artist do some job on a screen, for example, the game user interface can look good on an idea, but when we incorporate everything, it wasn't looking as good as we though, with Balsamiq we changed this, we first check if the actual interface is good enough, and then we start doing it. Avoid making double work! Pros Balsamiq is a great tool for doing mock ups on design, this way you can totally check if your design fits your job, for example, if you want to do a web page, you can design it here to see how it looks, it would be much faster than actually coding and then rewritting. Balsamiq is super-easy to use, with a minimal learning curve. The interface is intuitive and with a fast load time, so nothing gets in the way of designing. There are many pre-populated UI items which can also speed up the process. Cons While it is great for low-fi mock-ups, you'll need to use something else for your high-fidelity designs. For organizations with limited budgets, that means paying for multiple tools, which may not be ideal. Would absolutely recommend to anyone building/planning a site. This is a must. Pros I love the Balsamic cloud/web app version. No software to download, easy to use wireframing for your site(s). Either option works the same. The cloud version can be accessed anywhere you can login so the actual app is not needed to carry out your work. Wireframes can be export, download and send off to whatever website planning app you're using/sitemapping etc. Cons Found help articles to be a bit confusing to navigate and find what I need to complete my work but eventually was able to work it out. The search bar is very helpful, and shows elements that don't exactly match your search term but are still relevant. Cons Importing assets wasn't intuitive at first, but I figured it out eventually. Pros How easy it is to use, there are great components that are sufficient in making quick lo-fi prototypes or wireframes. Easy to understand for developers who want to quickly mockup their ideas as well. Cons The interface, it seems like a tool made for designers, but the interface is painfully outdated and really needs an update if they at all care about keeping up with other design tools. It was decent, but i do not plan to use it anymore. Pros Balsamiq offers users a great way to quickly and conveniently make mockups. They have 2 styles - one where everything looks like a sketch and one where it looks like computer designed element.s I love the drag and drop nature of it - it does make it easy to use and it's great for putting your ideas out there. Cons It's pretty limited beyond what I mentioned above. It don't think the cost justifies the expense when tools like Sketch, Figma, and others do a lot more for a small increase in price. It is a simple application for a team to collaborate and come up with a hassle-free, minimal view of what their UI will look like, without any extra flashy bells or whistles. Cons The limited set of interactions available for inclusion in the mockup can sometimes be a hindrance, as alternate tools provide comprehensive sets of user interactions what can be prototyped in to a mockup. June 23, 2015 4.0 I'm not a web developer, but I do work with customers to work out what sort of stuff they want on a page of a web application. Using Balsamiq enabled me to make sure I was capturing the data items they wanted in a logical order, and (after checking with the customer) I had a clear outline to pass it to the web development team for implementation and usability suggestions. Didn't use customer service but there isn't a "not applicable" option. Pros Widgets for most things - drop-down lists, calendars, radio buttons and so on. Easy drag-and-drop into place. From minute one, actually. I just needed to make some quick mockups as visuals for the software engineers, and Balsamiq made this simple and straightforward. I was able to move, manipulate, rearrange and finalize my designs, and then save them for further edits, without really any learning curve. Cons I get the nature of the sketchy mockup style, but I kind of wish there was an option for a more refined style for some of the shapes. I guess it wouldn't be a mockup then. It's hard to find a con with this software. Shouldn't use if you want professional, highly graphical wireframes. Not much control over design /look of the wireframes, so I needed to use something with more graphic design oriented tools. Pros There is no real learning curve for this tool and it's my favorite one for quick and low fidelity mockups, after pen and paper, of course. I use Sketch for more polished and clean work but it takes way more time and Balsamiq is irreplaceable for brainstorming and sharing of ideas. Cons It does what you expect it to do so the only con would be that the most you get here is a rough prototype without many advanced options. That's not a bad thing in my opinion though. Cons I'd like it if they updated the UI component library more frequently. I'd love to see the full suite of Material UI components and updated iOS-native components as we use these in our designs across web and mobile.
