It saves a lot of time otherwise spent in manual tasks. Pros Connectivity is good with Adobe Captivate Prime. As a salesforce CRM professional, good to see that admins can connect the LMS with SFDC and learners can access their learning programs from Salesforce. Cons Captivate authoring tool and Adobe Connect are not part of the LMS. They need to be bought separately. Review Source MG Mike G. It's the best option for turning a power point presentation into SCORM content available right now. Cons I've been using the program since Captivate 6 and there's not a whole lot of upgrade or improvements made to the newer versions. They typically lock-up my system, while others don't. The LMS is really easy to use and have a very fluid user interface that is easily graspable. It helps to create plans inside the software to guide all new starters towards a successful business solution. If it were up to me we would have definitely used Adobe Captivate Prime. Pros The software was very easy to use, compatible with many external applications and came with great support for the product. Pros Best training software that I have ever used!!! Was able to create trainings, quizes, presentations for in glass room group training, complete training for center overseas with out having to leave my desk! Success rate was amazing! Cons It took some time to figure it out. I was self taught, there are so many features and functions that you could do anything with it, as long as you knew what you were doing. It's frustrating that I couldn't get it to do something to use as a proof of concept model to the rest of the Directors of the Museum to show off its potential for our use. Also, confusing trying to understand how the Captivate family of software works with an LMS. Pros Its potential for creating online exhibits where we can get data back from the visitor that helps us understand how well the exhibit communicated its ideas and how the visitor understood it is a potential game changer for exhibit development that responds to the needs of our audience and our underwriters. Cons Incredibly slow to start up - like 20 minutes slow! Also, it seems like a half baked pie of Macromedia Director, Microsoft Powerpoint and the old Quark XPress Interactive extension - it just felt like different software thrown together. It is a powerful tool. Pros Very easy for beginners to begin using with minimal training needed. This is especially important when rolling out courses to individuals not used to using the software, as well. Pros You have unlimited storage space for courses/modules, etc. Cons This product iss clearly NOT created by Adobe; it was obviously purchased and Adobe slapped their label on it. I have been working in Photoshop since version 1, and there is a clear architecture and functionality to Adobe properties, all of them are exempt with Adobe Captivate Prime. It is cumbersome, unstable, and takes FOREVER to create a learning plan. In addition, their support will lead you down endless rabit holes that have not exit. It's really that terrible. If you aren't familiar with other Adobe software, there may be a learning curve as it's not totally intuitive. Pros It was fairly easy to use both as an administrator and for my learners. The tracking of learner progress through courses was easy to access and use. Cons I ran the free trial and had several managers and employees use the test courses and a couple that I loaded. While it worked pretty well, I felt that the customer support was a little slow. Being in very different time zones made it difficult to connect when I had questions about set up. The Adobe Rep I worked with was knowledgeable and professional but our schedules didn't really align. I also asked for an in-person demo for my executive team and was told that wold be difficult to set up. Review Source DH Dwayne H. Project interactions are easily scalable for the size and scope of our business as well which makes choosing Adobe Captivate a no brainer for our organization. Pros I really like that this fits all of our business needs and Adobe has provided everything needed to rapidly and effectively deploy our e-learning training program. Their customer support has been great! Cons As with any new system there is a bit of a learning curve at first however, it would be great if the system had a built in assistant or a beginners tutorial that could more easily be relied upon. Pros I appreciated the simple design of the user interface. I could easily see the course I was assigned and my progress as I completed modules. Cons I had some trouble with backward navigation. Along with this, the UI has a quick response and helps me work without disruption. The content integrations with Lynda and Harvard Mentor Manager are also really handy. If you have a vision in mind and the know-how to make it happen, you can create world-class materials. Cons This extreme customizability comes at a cost though. One cannot be a casual user and create epic materials. To fully utilize Captivate, you will need to take a course or two to understand everything. While there are authoring tools out there that are a bit more intuitive and have out-of-the-box functionality, they'll also come with less customizability. It's really a tradeoff. My organization does not have a full-time instructional designer, so using Captivate, for us, is a bit of a stretch. One feature I love, and can't wait to see what the future holds, is the text-to-speech. Review Source BA Brian A.
