The support team is responsive and generally able to assist within the first communication. Having a representative I can ask questions to is great and some are better than others. Overall, I am happy with the product and support. It is by far better than others I have used, hands down.

Pros

There are many features available and they continue to update the application with improvements and additional features. There is a general ease of use, particularly for the learner.

Cons

Early on there wasn't a lot of How to documentation but that has changed. Some features are not as user friendly.

Several people on our team tried to use it for educational purposes, and everyone ended up using other software in the end because it just takes so long to design. Some templates or pre-made designs would be helpful in speeding up the development process.

Pros

Highly customizable option for developing e-learning material. Lots of different options, functions, and ways to engage audience. Good suggestions for best use of different options.

Cons

I would have expected e-learning material to take about 2x as long as developing power points, but it is much longer than that. The learning curve is greater than that of Photoshop. The interface is not intuitive for users of other Adobe products.

After my initial excitement at what appeared to be another stunning Adobe product, I was disappointed by the 'bugs' in its functionality. I was intending to use it for my own online elearning website, but due to the reasons stated above I have decided not to proceed with Captivate and will probably use another elearning package instead.

Pros

The special features were very good. The template library was impressive and the number of different formats, including video demos, 3D slides, question slides, interactive slides gives online learning the engagement for students needed.

Cons

Unfortunately, I found a number of functions that didn't work very well. e.g. Once a simple quiz was created and uploaded to preview drag and drop slides didn't drag very well, slides progressed onto the next slide before the correct answer had been selected, it wasn't possible to add a 3D slide into a normal presentation meaning a separate learning module would need to be created in addition to other learning modules, which is cumbersome to administer for a learning organisation. I also found the properties inspector to be overly complicated.

Pros

I love that Adobe Captivate has media rich graphics and a ton of cool features that are all current and up to date with the trends in the industry.

Cons

The software is easy to use to not easy enough to the extent of me being able to use it without first needing training. The user would need to go through a course just to create a course, this is a process that I've seen for almost all software programs and there should be a better solution. The tutorial helps, but fully utilizing this software requires far more than a tutorial and it should require less in my opinion. We should be spending more doing making courses and content, not learning how to do so.

We got absolutely no support when reviewing to decide whether or not to purchase, we emailed and called several times. We got no response until after we purchased and even then it was minimal. I like the software but would've liked some training instead of having to figure it out.

Pros

I really like that you can have more than one grouping. It provides for better use for clients as well as staff. It's fairly easy to figure out how to maneuver through the different pages and it's easy to upload new courses.

Cons

It comes with NO instruction, even the how-to videos don't really tell you how to do anything. The fact that you have to use Captivate to develop training decks in order to get a good flow of a course is not ideal.

Pros

This product is easy to use and laid out similar to other adobe products. Most settings are located centrally and are easy to navigate.

Cons

Because Adobe has so many different software applications, it would be nice to see more advanced features. Tying Captivate into creative cloud would allow greater freedom in editing images, sounds, and video.

Creating instructional content to convey complex ideas.

Pros

I enjoyed the ability to customize my training using scripting. The narration to closed caption also saved a lot of time while allowing for compliance. The cost of the subscription is also reasonable for everything I can do with Captivate.

Cons

Some of the advanced features can be daunting. Fortunately, you don’t have to utilize them ti make an excellent product.

Pros

Quick when it wants to be. Loads when it wants to. Answers questions when needed. Helps if needed...

Cons

Takes forever to load doesn't load all the time freezes. Kicks me out. Messes up a lot. Does give me what I'm looking for

Pros

As everything coming from Adobe, this is spectacular! There is practically NOTHING you can't do with it!! I come from video editing and animation using the Adobe suite, so it feels like I already know a bunch of features and things I see in Captivate. For the time I've used it I can say is quite easy to use, even when it has a lot of features and options.

Cons

It can get quite complex to use if you want to get to know all the features. Its a bit confusing. I suggest you read the manuals or watch a tutorial first.

I like the potential to use Prime for my e-learning packages that I am designing and will probably subscribe to it for a longer test run.

Pros

Interface and features are top notch. The look and feel are also very nice. Functionality-wise, this is a well thought out system and Adobe has definitely years of experience on their side when it comes to this LMS.

Cons

I'm not quite sure who is the target demographics of this software, but having a means to sell directly from this LMS would help for businesses and individuals designing e-learning packages that they want to sell direct. Having more expanded options for Social widgets, etc.

We use Adobe for document tracking, layout of publications and more. The learning curve wasn't as high for our team since the typical layout in the program is used. Also, we are able to integrate our other publications into the training flawlessly

Cons

Training new users takes a lot longer on this platform than on others. If a user is not familiar with Adobe products, plan properly for that learning curve.

Over the years, I've learned how to use Adobe Captivate using the 'self-taught' method. So I know there's even more to it than I'm utilizing, but it's still pretty simple to pick-up and start using after a bit of normal trial-and-error. But very powerful...pretty user friendly...and pretty intuitive. It was originally designed for tracking and recording on-screen directions/tutorials, but I've used it primarily as a enhanced PowerPoint presentation with voiceovers, navigation, etc. Solid software and one that can really enhance your online training content!

Pros

pretty intuitive to use and user friendly, especially in a situation such as mine where it was self-taught

Cons

sometimes hard to find (remember!) what is where in terms of features and click buttons

For a multi-learner environment, Adobe Captivate Prime is good, it is most useful for organizations where learners are remotely located and need a virtual learning environment.

Pros

I like the learner-first-approach in Adobe’s Prime LMS. The design is centered around the user. Its nice to see the feedback loop on course effectiveness which is based on tests and manager feedback. Cloud based model, security and disaster management are other key parameters that makes it rank higher than other LMSs.

Cons

It is cloudbased so it needs connectivity for most features to work. However, offline and sync facility is available when not connected.
