### "It is pretty decent"

is a cloud-based practice information management system designed specifically for vets. My overall experience is pretty decent, considering it does have general scheduling ability and patient tracking. It does lack some key features, especially when it comes to tracking the financial side of the system.

Pros

I enjoyed using because designed to be user-friendly. It is quite an affordable program, and it has the ability to schedule appointments easily. It is very simple to use and is not very confusing to teach other employees.

Cons

The things I liked the least about is that there are issues with the financial aspect of using the program. There are also issues with sharing records to other vets or owners. There are some key features that are lacking in the system, and it does seem to need some updates to make the system better.

### " Idexx neo a VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE"

Avoid at all costs because it will cost you more then you think it will.

Pros

It sounded really good but once we got into the training it went downhill from there.

Cons

We were being charged for Neo even before it was up and running. \[sensitive content hidden\] said that we would get a refund of the product but in the end they ended up charging us for 3 months. We signed up in March 2023 and ended the agreement in June of 2023 before using any of it. They told us the monthly fee would go up in July of 2023 and then each year annually Recently we found out the Card connect that is intgrated with Neo and recommended by Idexx had been charging us between 40-69 dollars every month since March of 2023. despite the fact that we were told everything had been cancelled. They charged us upwards of 1400 dollars and refunded only 207 to this day and refuse to credit us any more. . I;ve spent hours on the phone with the credit card processing company and despite Idexx telling us we have to contact the card card merchant to get a refund they sent us back to Idexx. WE NEVER GOT ANY INVOICES WITH THE CHARGES BECAUSE THEY WERE IN THE PORTAL WHICH WE NEVER SIGNED UP FOR BECAUSE WE WERE NOT USING THE PRODUCT.

Pros

I like that everything I need is at my fingertips. If a client calls and asks what medications my cat needs to be on. I can easily find the client by their name or phone number. Select what cat they are asking about. Go to the most recent clinical event and see what the doctor has written and explain to the client what the next steps are. I honestly could not do my job without this software.

Cons

What I dislike about it most is sometimes it's hard to send records if you don't follow the same exact steps every time it won't send what you need sent

### "Neo engineers are always listening to us "

Love the cloud base system, I don't have to stay late doing records. Plus, if someone runs into me at the store and can pull it up to put them on the appt schedule and know that I am not over booked.

Pros

The software gurus listen to the user's needs and are constantly updating features to improve and add functions

Newer product and they are still working to make it a perfect product

Neo keeps coming out with improvements and taking feedback from users to make it better. Neo has made our clinics more efficient and puts all our information in one place.

Pros

The ease of access from any location allows for doctors to work on notes from home, access accounts when on-call for emergencies, or out on the farm for large animals. The reports are very helpful for managing the business.

Cons

Prescribing medications can be tedious at times, but once prescribed, medications are easy to track.

### "Optimistic when I purchased it but disappointed in development"

I bought into Neo when it was starting out. I expected some growing pains and in a few years it became a useful piece of software. Now, development has come to a virtual standstill. Releases are months apart and include one of two items: minor fixes (that sometimes introduce new bugs) and money-making opportunities for Idexx through integrations. The long-awaited reporting functionality is vaporware.

Pros

It is easy to teach people to use. The default invoices are pretty. The e-mail reminders seem to run fine and the lab work is integrated to where it tells the lab station to run a test and records the result afterwards.

Cons

There is no customization of reports. The reports that do exist are oddly named and often do not have what you need. Workflow is totally absent. Everything requires many clicks, and the best way to work is usually to have many browser tabs open so that you can access everything you need. Improvements are few and far between even as pricing is increasing.

### "Using Neo in small solo practice since Jan. 1, 2018"

We have a very small, 1 doctor practice. I was somewhat concerned about going to a cloud based system, but that has been a non factor. We are still not using NEO to it's maximum capacity, but that is our fault not the software's. There was a $50 a month increase in the monthly fee at the start of 2020 that didn't thrill me, but overall our experience has been good.

Pros

Initially our favorite thing about Neo was how it facilitated electronic medical record keeping and electronic communication with clients via email and SMS. Over time the things that haven't liked (reporting, inventory management, etc) has gotten much better. The NEO team is very responsive to user feedback and frequently makes enhancements and upgrades to the software that make it better and better. We certainly also appreciate the ability to run NEO on very inexpensive hardware.

Cons

As I noted above, our original "cons" have gotten much better over the 2 years we have been using NEO. Getting reports from past years is still a little wonky, and there is no quick easy way to look up which patient received a certain treatment recently, ie a "who-got" feature. NEO also lumps services (labwork, vaccines, office calls, etc) together with inventory items such as pharmaceuticals and preventives into one big category called "Products". I'd like to see them split apart.

Pros

Since Neo is a cloud based program, it is constantly being updated by the development team. Support is just a live chat away, and if Neo doesn't currently offer the feature you are looking for they will put in an enhancement request to try and put it in a future update. The text message functionality is great, and such an easy way to communicate with clients. As the person who was in charge of implementation and customization, I can say that initial setup was a breeze and we had very little issues. If using IDEXX Laboratory Services, the integration is incredible and works great. I would never even think to go back to a software where lab requisitions had to be done manually. Being a cloud based system, everything is backed up all the time. There have been cases where I have accidentally deleted things, and the development team has been able to restore it for me which was great.

Cons

While Neo is constantly updated, there are still major features that the support team still hasn't added. The support team is often not knowledgable about a question asked, and if the question is asked to multiple support staff members often different answers are obtained. Being a cloud based system, if the "cloud servers" have an issue or go offline, you will not be able to access Neo. This is happened a handful of times since we have had Neo. Reporting can be confusing, and it seems support staff doesn't know which reports to use when. I also own two different practices, and while on the outside it looks like Neo has multi-branch functionality, it doesn't and we have to use two different accounts. The automated reminder system does not have the ability to check for appointments that are already scheduled, so we constantly have clients telling us there appointments are already scheduled. And there is no automated appointment reminder program, it must be done manually. Other than those thinsg we actually really like Neo, and switching from an old version of Intravet was a breath of fresh air.

We were very disappointed, we were hoping for more. Excited when we were able to switch to a new program.

Pros

The ease of Neo, the look, the quickness of logging on. There was very little that we liked about the program, the integration with IDEXX bloodwork

Cons

The reports are very vague. Hard to do large animal clients, inventory is a NIGHTMARE! If you do any inventory on a regular basis - stay away from this as it will lead you to gray hair. Statements at end of month do not include any services/products - only invoice #, so you have to print lots of pages off.

Overall, I am really pleased with Neo. There are constant updates, some of which I did not realize were problems. New features are always being added. I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros

Neo was the easiest software program to set up and use that I reviewed. Just about everything is fairly intuitive and does not require a degree in programming to use. The files for your patients are as close to paper based as I have seen. You can easily adapt it to your practice and it integrates well with the reference lab. Working from anywhere with this cloud based system is also a lovely feature The customer service is great--you actually get to know all the staff and they remember you when you call. The boarding schedule is a great new feature that I set up in minutes for my specific kennel situation. I own a small, single doctor practice and do not regret choosing Neo as my PMS.

Cons

The few things that Neo is not capable of (yet): Creating automatic call backs for appointments. Integrated payment--although I think that this is in the works. There are also instances where if a staff member marks a file ready to be paid, another person working on the file at the same time cannot save the information without backing out and going back into the file. I have lost a few files with this. It now warns you that someone else has it open.

Once everyone got the hang of it Neo went pretty smooth, the users from cornerstone dragged at the beginning. I wish the rx tab would automatically add the script into the rx history VS allowing labels printed but not “proscribed” we constantly fight w the drs over this!!!

Pros

Having Neo definitely allowed us to continue and push through the pandemic curbside. The program slowed us to work remotely when needed.

Cons

The analytics that we had in cornerstone from a management standpoint were much better.

Being a mixed animal practice I love that Neo is cloud based. It makes our mobile unit's life so much easier. I'm happy we chose Neo.

Pros

Constant updates. Excellent tech support. Intuitive.

Cons

There are issues with every software and many of our initial issues have already been fixed with updates. Some of the search functionality isn't effective. Doesn't pick up key words well. No standardized way to input phone numbers so searching a client by phone number is impossible. I feel that having more client information displayed on each screen (phone numbers, other pets, etc) would cut down the time/clicks needed to get to frequently used info fast. Even though you can customize your own forms, which is great, I wish Neo came with pre-made forms that felt more modern and eye catching. SMS isn't great - would be nice to have the ability to actually chat back and forth. In lieu of that having the ability to send an auto message that said not to reply to the text. Our clients frequently try to reply. Having clients able to pay their invoice from the email Neo sends would be helpful, especially in light of the times. Once you save a form/file to a client you can't email it to them.

Great online support, fantastic cost without large initial investment of 16-20K like other software. Web based, no need for databse backups, etc. NEO team is making beneficial updates based on users input. No large learning curve for staff. The integration with IDEXX lab equipment is spectacular and helpful in cutting down time. Results gro straight into patient history.

Pros

Web based which means no backups necessary in clinic, great support, ease of use, fantastic price without a large investment, training staff is not a large learning curve. The developers listen to their clients and make timely updates to software without having to download and install, etc. Great thing is that when the power went down for an hour at our clinic, we were able to use our cell phones to acess NEO and still get client information and chek them out via PayPal instead of our usual service. Our old system meant you had to revert to paper and be out of luck with checking anybody out. You can quickly review Prescription history withour hunting through months and years of records. Fantastic administrative tools for accounting purposes and reports to quicky your growing. It will take 10 years of monthly pay,ents to pay what would have been a 19,000-20,000 investment in Management software with other companies. If I don't like it in a few years, I have not lost a huge initial invesment.I highly recommend it to clinics that don't want to spend a lot of overhead on software, want great support, and good clinic management software.

Cons

If you ever have the internet go down in clinic, you can't use software... unless you have cell phones to access the mobile version

Neo has so many tools that I'm still discovering, such as appointment type breakdowns to see where/how your revenue is generated, so one can then target those areas or emphasize others moving forward. Many other features and tools available.

Pros

For starters, the developers of this software continually seek, AND RESPOND, to user input, creating a continually adapting product that never goes out of date. 'Cloud-based' has rocked our world, allowing accessibility from any device with internet connectivity. So convenient.

Cons

Integration with old software (Intravet)was successful for the most part...all the info is there, just formatted differently. I'd expect this to be an issue with integration from any software, however.

is very easy to use and staff can learn to use it very quickly. Support is usually quick to solve issues/problems.

Cons

We have had for about 3 years. I believe neo is good for a small practice or a new practice, not for a large or busy practices. There are really minimal integrations with 3rd party vendors. The reminder system leaves a lot to be desired. The inventory management is designed very poorly and reports at all levels is lacking. The controlled drug reporting is not designed well and NEO does not generate any cures reports (for states like California that require controlled drug reporting). When we initially signed up for NEO I was informed that CURES reporting was built in but it is not the case. I have been asking support about implementing this for years but have not gotten anywhere.

Overall, we are pleased with the program and find it generally easy to use and efficient. We have some minor tweaks we would make but have no major issues.

Pros

We like the ease of use to create a client/patient and schedule appointments. The new feature allowing us to see cancelled or deleted appointments has been a wonderful addition as well!

Cons

We dislike that some features are often changed that do not necessarily need to be changed. Also having a "no-show" option in addition to "Canceled or Deleted" would be very useful.

NEO provides the benefit of being Cloud based, meaning that it can be accessed by any device with internet, WiFi, or data plan.

Pros

The software is cloud based, making it accessible from any computer. The program itself is very simplified, making it easy to learn and use.

Cons

The software was over simplified. I can see how this program would be great for a small practice with one doctor and limited staff, but for a busy practice, it created more problems than it was worth. One of the worst features was that only one person could enter information in a consultation at one time. This wouldn't be as big of an issue if the program only allowed one person into the consultation at a time. Instead, multiple people can get into the consultation, but only one person's entries are saved, completely erasing the other's without warning. The inventory system is a mess. It is nearly impossible to truly track products coming into and out of the building. Once again, this is more difficult on a busier practice that has a lot of inventory. There is no payment system integrated with the software, meaning that payment must be taken with a separate program, leaving room for errors when entering payment.

This cloud based system has been a huge factor in allowing us to rapidly expand out practice.

Pros

Cost Benefit is excellent. Training is very easy for new staff because of the simple and straight forward interface. Almost all tasks take minimal steps to complete unlike some of the more popular PMS out there. Very customizable and the support is top notch.

Cons

Inventory is not complete. Different batches of medications cannot currently be tracked separately. Invoices closed out on one doctor by mistake cannot be easily switched - payment must be deleted and re-entered. Lastly, integration with other software is very limited. Software for client communication and education that is compatible with Neo is almost non-existent.

Pros

I most liked the organization and modernization of . After experiencing other veterinary softwares, they often feel outdated and disorganized compared to IDEXX Neo. This software does it all- scheduling, record keeping, invoices, and prescriptions- making it really user friendly for a busy veterinary clinic.

Cons

Again, having two practices, using NEO has made life easier on management. Support is always available and usually figures out the problem you are having.

Pros

Cloud based software makes it easy to use on the go when managing multiple clinics. NEO is always adding new and updated features based off of client recommendations. Works very well with other Idexx equipment. Love the template and form options! Makes it so nice to have easily accessible printable forms at everyone's fingertips. Support chat is amazing!

Cons

Just like with any internet based software there are times NEO is unavailable. Hadn't happened often but when it does, it is rough for the moment it is down. Would like to be able to run my own custom reports. Also would love to have reminders deleted automatically when the line item has been deleted. Only other thing would be that when pets that have been marked inactive or deceased it doesn't remove any future appointments.

Online storage and access, flexibility for most things. Ease of use.

Pros

I like the cloud starage of everything, it Means I have access to all practice data at any time on any device. Very easy to configure. Fairly flexible. It was an easy conversion from Cornerstone to Neo.

Cons

Some difficulty with batch changing items. Some inflexibility in customizing record keeping templates. Reporting tools are very minimal and could be much more robust.
