It has helped me create new processes and develop existing ones. In addition, it has allowed me to develop workflows and create diagrams from data. Pros Lucidchart is very simple to use, and it has various sound features. It is easy to import data, select different templates, and drag and drop hundreds of different types of shapes and smart art into creating workflows, processes, diagrams, etc. Cons Lucidchart user experience and the visual design of the platform do need some improvements. The efficient flow of commands and actions on the platform are not as smooth as other similar services. The pre-built templates are absolutely KEY as starting from scratch is often too much work, but having a template helps immediately. And I like the pre-built shapes that you can click and drag to use. Cons It is sometimes difficult to use, especially when designing a flowchart and trying to use the arrows - sometimes they just strangely go all over the place, so it takes some getting used to for sure. " October 17, 2018 5.0 Pros I used Lucidchart to make my company's org charts, action plans for engagement initiatives, and GDPR work processes. Lucidchart was perfect and easy to map out each project. I like being able to use different shapes and colours to signify different stages. It's also great because you can have multiple people on the account so you can collaborate on your charts. Cons The one problem I have is I seem to be kicked out of my company's account quite often and have to ask to access all the time. It's an easy fix, but no one has been able to tell me why that happens. Still worth using, but it's a bit of an inconvenience. I had problems at first to get my student discount but after a second try, they gave me access with my educational email. Pros Lucidchart has a lot of great shapes to make high quality diagrams. The platform is really easy to use, it is possible to make an excellent diagram within the first minutes of use. The inclusion of latex equations makes a perfect combination with the built-in shapes. The online platform allows team collaboration and to have all your diagrams available anywhere as long as you have internet connection. Cons The fact that the platform is only available online affects the productivity since it is not possible to use the software without an internet connection. React Native App Developer Information Technology and Services Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Easy to use, but not without slight drawbacks" October 30, 2021 5.0 Pros What I like about Lucid is the ease and intuitiveness of its use while creating diagrams. When I start creating a flow chart I might not be able to make a complete mental picture of what it would look like in the end. That is why it is essential for me to be able to quickly restructure the diagram while building it up. Lucid allows to do that easily: you don't have to worry about alignments while reshuffling and resizing different parts of the diagram: everything is done by the algorithm, which allows you to focus on the essence of the diagram, not its form. In the end you get a diagram or chart which looks really professional. Cons What made me a bit sad is that I failed to find template (and instruments) for creating sequence diagrams which are critically important for describing communication between a few entities (for example between a mobile app and a server) in time, as a series of data exchange instances. Because of that I had to use different online services which creates a hole in diagram integrity within our documentation. It is possible though, that Lucid does have the instruments for creating sequence diagrams and I somehow overlooked it. But since I looked through templates many times in a row without any result, it could be a signal that graphical interface could be improved. Review Source Rohit Y. Most significantly, it has a very straightforward and easy to use interface. Cons Although being an excellent tool for producing diagrams, Lucidchart has certain drawbacks. It has a large number of different templates that you can use. And it is easy to use through drag and drop. And most importantly, it's web-based so that you can use it from anywhere and share with anyone with ease. Cons While it is beneficial to have the multiple levels/folders for storing documents created in LucidChart, I do find that it can be complex to search and find for things you have created. Keeping one copy of a flowchart up to date at all times keeps version control issues down with sharing Visio files or pdfs. Pros Lucidchart is "smart". The software is intuitive and suggests flowcharting symbols to you, and makes it easy to keep the flow going without going back to your pallet to drag icons and lines etc. A really useful feature has been how easy it is to modify an existing flowchart by transforming Microsoft Visio flowcharts into Lucidchart. Lucidchart keeps all of the icons connected when you move icons around, and keeps it looking organized no matter where you place your icons (no crossing lines or diagonals walking across your icons). Cons Lucidchart can be improved with an easy commenting system - often times comments have to be attached to a specific icon, and general comments are harder to place within the tool. Pros I have used Lucid chart to draw from simple flow charts to very complex architecture diagrams. And Lucid chart never disappoint me. It has all the icons and tools needs for drawing all kinds of diagrams we draw day to day. Web app of Lucid chart is really smooth so can be used any where and any device I work with. Cons One problem I had with Lucid chart is when it comes to drawing connections with one component to another in a chart sometimes the automatic lines which are drawn is not as I want that lines lines to be and sometimes it's hard to change that too. Used the software for: I used a free trial ### "Forget Visio, LucidChart is the new diagramming tool" March 28, 2016 5.0 We were long time Visio users, and it was coming time to upgrade Visio again - which was not a small cost. So we looked around and came across LucidChart. It imported our Visio diagrams without any issue. After a short time we found LucidChart so much easier to use, and it was great being able to share out master copies of our diagrams with our clients (who the diagrams are for). I also like that it is completely web based, and we don't have to install anything on our machines any more. Their online support is excellent, and they have lots of short You Tube videos which show you how to do lots and lots of things. Pros \* Ease of use \* You tube videos giving demos on how to do things \* Ability to share disgrams \* Running in a web browser so you don't have to install software Cons \* I found customers (who already use LucidChart) sometimes shared their diagrams with just the employee needing it "right then". However if someone else needed to work on it they didn't have access, and usually didn't have the rights to be able to share it with other people in our company. I wish when customers shared it with someone in our team that it was automatically shared with everyone in the team. This was such a big issue for us we ended up cancelling out company subscription, and converting it to a single user subscription forcing everyone to log in using the same account. Issue resolved with customers sharing with us. Pros The ease of adding elements is amazing, as well as the quality of working together in real time, it does not take long to reflect what someone else is doing, everything is fast, the tools that are given and the freedom to do whatever there is in terms of diagrams. Cons It could be your file limit in the free version, you can only work with three files, and when you make a new one the others can only be read. Another bad thing is that they do not save the user settings in some tools, such as arrows.
