Pros It's a cloud-based service where we can create any diagram, flow charts, algorithms, etc. Very convenient to explain any diagram via the cloud as it has pre-defined templates which helps you to create diagram and share it with your colleagues. Cons Since its a cloud-based application, for a huge diagram, we need better network connectivity so that multiple people can work simultaneously or else the applications lags a lot. It also has bulit in collaboration and all the data are transfered using SSL with AES-256 bit encryption. It suits educational purposes really well as graphical elements such as UML, mind mapping flowcharts etc.. are available. Cheaper compared to competitors. It's hard getting a bunch of students together to work on something, but telling them to be online at a certain time isn't very hard at all! I've used this program to diagram several ERDs and Website flow charts, and it's always been easy to get other people involved. The built in templates are very diverse and help you quickly create all sorts of diagrams. Pros Accessible online Lots of built in templates and objects Intuitive UI for most actions Cons A bit of reading is required to understand some of the more powerful features. I use the tool both as an individual and as part of a team; the latter being facilitated by the great collaboration features of the product - we often schedule sessions to work on a design at the same time. The ability to easily export a diagram as an image/pdf or to send a URL to others is also a feature used to communicate to constituents who don't want/need to be actively engaged in the creation of the diagram. It's a solid tool with lots of built-in graphics for all of your diagramming needs. I especially like the network rack tool, which lets you model out your whole rack intuitively. The Google integration means it's easy to get an entire school set up with accounts Cons The Google backup feature can be a little clunky sometimes, but it may have improved since the last time I checked. I have noticed gradual improvements, so maybe they've tackled it and I didn't even know about it! It's the best tool for the job I've encountered. Pros Lucidchart allows you to create various kinds of charts, diagrams and models. The interface is very intuitive, and the flexibility makes it a very useful tool for a variety of uses. Best of all, I absolutely love that I can create a tool, share a link with edit permissions, and have other members of my team or our clients modify as needed. Prior to discovering Lucidchart, all these changes would have been sent directly to me, I'd make the updates, export, and distribute new versions. Those days are long gone! Cons Occasionally, it tries to auto-snap elements to a grid of its choosing, which isn't necessarily the same grid I want. The perfect thing for university lectures, hip board meetings and other presentations. Cons I do not feel comfortable showcasing diagrams in front of incredibly important stakeholders with Lucidchart. Visio and other Microsoft tools seem in my eye more profession. This may be because of Microsoft's established history and consumer base. She loved it and purely wasn't able to keep paying for it because of financial reasons. Pros The ability to select portions of the diagram you make to a document, but keep all of them connected in a personal save file. Cons The price unfortunately was a huge drawback for someone who uses this personally rather than a company. It wasn't really worth the price for the reason the person has chosen this software. It is fun to teach mind maps and having Lucidchart to eliminate the building of the chart saves so much time and frustration. Pros Using the templates to do mind maps is so easy. There are many different designs that get your creative juices flowing to help create mind maps that are not only beautiful, but functional. Cons It is not completely user friendly. Some of the features are a little difficult to figure out.
