Pros We love the features of entering individuals, families, groups and being able to print rosters. Cons The inability to keep and maintain business meeting minutes in OnRealm and be able to search them. Also, every time there is a change in reports, we have to go in and redo a majority of our reports because the format changes and extra unwanted columns appear. Review Source DD Deb D. A tool to connect church members, and assist church leadership. Pros The interface is pleasing and fairly intuitive. The customer service is excellent. The tools available are very useful for our church. I appreciate the customized fields in the system that allow me to change certain terminology to better match our church. Cons There are bumps in the road sometimes with updates, whether it's an unexpected consequence, changed features, or having to teach volunteers a new way to use the software. I also appreciate how much Realm listens to customer feedback, but sometimes wish improvements could be made faster. Review Source DM Dee M. Information is easier to get out to all of the congregation. Pros The software is set up to be member driven and not staff driven. You can add participates and they can then have access to functionality of the group. Cons The release of new features is sometime premature before they have worked the problems out. They are not good about getting back to you once they have something working properly. Reason for choosing Realm We had been with ACS for so long and we trusted their products. September 7, 2017 4.0 Pros I love the integration between all different areas such as financials, attendance, and groups. I also am a huge fan of the app that allows me to quickly search for and contact church members. Reports pull easily and there are a ton of customization options throughout the various areas. Cons There are a couple features such as people being able to sign up for and see events without an account that are still missing. There are also times that setting up an event or pulling a report can be confusing at first, but their team is awesome at responding quickly and helping you figure out what you need to do. March 5, 2019 5.0 Pros I am a member of groups and different projects at church. This is a fantastic way for all of us to stay connected and communicate needs and events. I love that it emails me when there is an update so I don't have to check the app all the time. Cons So far there's nothing about Realm that I don't like. We'll see as time goes on. It makes church management easy! Pros The best thing about Realm is that it is user-friendly! Our congregants love that. Also, they are constantly changing and updating the software, so it is becoming more and more useful in day to day church business! August 17, 2016 5.0 We began using Realm 1.5 years ago and it has made a huge difference in how we do ministry. Once, all database information was locked to all but a few admins; now, our lay leaders have the ability to work together, accessing information, and reaching our congregants. One of our lay leaders commented, "I don't know how we did ministry before Realm!" Pros \-Love that customer feedback is important. I have always felt valued and my opinions and recommendations are taken seriously. -Ease of use! -Lots of great updates Cons Some of the email features could be better, and I'd love the ability to save documents in files. Follow up is handled better and more likely to happen. Pros Being able to look up contact information of our attenders on my phone when I'm away from the office. Cons When a something is listed on my and a co-worker's task list and the co-worker completes the task, it is still listed on my task list. I have to check with her to make sure she did it before I can take it off of my task list. We have loved Realm! Pros The ease of use on the backend as well as the modern platform feel for the users. Cons Occasionally I have had issues with pasting a Vimeo link in and instead of embedding the video (like it typically does), it just has the link instead. Cons I don't think there's anything I like with this software. I get errors all the time and then I continually have to contact support. Just recently our church began using this for gathering information and tithing. There are many mornings that it is hard to get to the church on time with three teenagers, this app is great to donate to the church directly from my phone. I can get seated and during announcements make a payment without worrying about bringing the check book. Cons It took me a minute to get acquainted with the layout. I am afraid that inexperienced church members may not want to use this technology just because its an app but they just need to get past that! Review Source DM Diana M. So looking up a child with a different last name has changed so much for us. That made a big difference for a lot of things. We are using more and more of the features all the time. Pros I like the ease in which information is entered and edited. I like that you can search for a report and then when you have the results you are looking for you can save it and use it over and over. Editing the parameters of the search is also understandable. (And I have used more than the average person). It doesn't seem to automatically do anything, causing several issues. It has issues, where you can even email to the addresses listed as a group. To type the email, and system issues, causing a 2 min email to take an hour. Someone emailed to me twice and went to spam causing me to be blocked. I can go on and on. It should be free! Pros Nothing -This has been the most frustrating (and expensive) software that anyone could purchase Cons Every area has issues. Maybe the pay online works ok. Review Source DN Debra N. February 13, 2018 4.0 Pros The admin side is pretty easy to use once set up and our staff likes it. The pictures are helpful to new staff members who may not recognize everyone yet. Cons I don't think the app was ready to launch. It has created multiple communications problems. The newsfeed is very confusing to our folks - they don't get the point. Some people who get email notification of new newsfeed posts tend to answer them - and others are upset that they keep getting the replies (some comments not appropriate for everyone to see). Accounting Religious Institutions Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Ease of tracking parishioners" September 23, 2020 5.0 We purchased Realm with the goal of having multiple uses in our Parish, especially event attendee tracking, giving history, identifying different groups within the Parish and customizing communication to them. Generating year end tax statements is especially user friendly. Pros Two features stand out in their ease of use and helpfulness in tracking and identifying Parishioners. First, the search feature, and second, the reporting feature. This reveals how all of the information we are entering into the system works for our different groups - from event attendee tracking, or sending a year end tax statement. Cons The one problem with this software was the download of information from our prior software program, which was awkward. This resulted in certain information being populated in inaccurate fields in Realm. We have lots of problems with it. You can't print labels straight from groups, registration events are way more complex than they need to be....it isn't a perfect solution. I do know that our bookkeeper finds it very helpful so it may be my role and what I need Realm to do that is the problem. Pros The directory is helpful, and the customer support is good. My favorite part about Realm is the annual conference. Cons The programming is done in such a way that the software is not very user-friendly. Review Source BL Brandylyn L. Pros Great financial controls, easy searching, great data collection, and top-notch reports. Cons Some of the financial strengths of ACS software were removed in an attempt to make the software more user-friendly. ACS used to be known for great customer service and sales, now the interaction is sub-par at best. Churches that need check-in and worship service management would still need additional software. The improved ease and functionality we found once we switched to Realm was a breath of fresh air!! Pros Entering and editing member information was very easy and user friendly. Entering contributions could be fully automated with the right equipment (i.e., check scanner, etc.) Cons It can be a bit difficult to download reports at times. Additionally, the company is constantly updating the software. This is great because it's always being improved....but sometimes things will get moved around or will change in appearance, so it can take a few days to get used to the changes and find everything again. January 30, 2018 4.0 Reliable data, easy to use and explain to members how to use. Not complete. I know the software is still a work in progress. But this means that there are always updates to read about and find out how to use the new features or changes. This all takes time to manage. Also, would like to be able to use the accounting and payroll piece of the software, but I am not 100% comfortable switching to another unfinished product. I can do mailings, emails, attendance, group tracking, contributions and pledge campaigns, reporting and many, many other features. It is very versatile and is easy and intuitive.
