Pros The ability and ease of communicating to our church and the different ministry groups within our system. Cons There have been several glitches that have happened. July 31, 2018 5.0 Ease of use, ability to store info about parishioners and link family members. Pros Created for churches with their special needs - like 'giving' instead of invoices. I used Quick Books before and even though it was the non-profit version, it was hard to use and statements were very much disliked by parishioners. Cons That I didn't find it sooner! " June 14, 2018 4.0 The biggest benefit by far was the cost savings and not losing much of the functionality. We are a small congregation and being able to reduce the monthly cost of our software but still maintain the level we were accustomed to was huge. Pros The ease of use - the simplification. We are a small congregation and this suits our needs very well. Cons The reports function - since I was familiar with the previous ACS Membership module I keep wanting to do what I could before and that isn't always possible. Review Source JS Jessica S. September 11, 2017 3.0 Increases efficiency of church office staff. Pros The search features, both in searching for individuals and running custom queries. This enables us to save time when producing any kind of communication. Cons The end user (congregant) experience. For back-office staff Realm is a big help, but for our members it is a headache. For this reason, we have not yet released/used many of Realm's features like event registration, group messages, and the connect app. Congregants mainly use it for online giving only, and we still field lots of call and questions. The user must be very familiar with computer software programs in order to follow the logic of which buttons to click, etc. To a layperson, it's incredibly difficult. July 6, 2018 5.0 Pros I use Realm at work to communicate with members of the church and store information for attendance and general contact information. It makes things a lot easier and saves time for all who use it. Cons At times the realm server undergoes maintenance and certain parts of the program aren't accessible or they move very slow. Good customer support and always available when needed. Cons The reports can be exported to PDF or Excel. This is good but I had to "refresh" my Excel after not using it as much. It now works well. I enter donations, print out reports to match financial statements of money coming in and print quarterly reports for members to find out where they are as far as their pledges. Pros Ease of use is number one in my book as far as the accounting is concern. Cut down my work time and easy to cross reference. Cons Getting labels and directories are still a major problem. Giving, attendance, directory...and all with mobility. Overall, we have been very pleased. Pros Generally, the look and feel of the online and mobile experience are modern and nice. The app has been very useful. The financial integrations and features have been flawless. Cons Some very basic features have been slow in coming (e.g., allowing public registration for paid events). Also, account management has been challenging at times (e.g., changing account email, uninviting accounts where maybe a family email addressed was used twice for a couple, etc.). July 17, 2018 5.0 I don't have to worry about running up to the church office to check information, I can access the database from home! I can allow other staff members to access individual areas of the program while keeping the financials confidential. Pros REALM offers easy online access from anywhere as well as the ability for church members to give online and view their contributions. Membership is easy to update and group attendance is much easier to track through the program. Cons We're still waiting for payroll to be included so that we can use REALM exclusively, without having to use ACS financials as well. Review Source HT Heidi T. I've been using the program for a while and have enjoyed how user friendly it is. The support folks are sharp and quick to respond to our needs... especially during our transition to this program! They were great! Pros Ease of use; we don't need to worry about "what happens if a computer goes down?"; great support staff; pre-defined reports; dashboard; Data base and finances are linked in same system; great easy to understand on-line search/help. Cons I'm still working on figuring out/getting used to how to run custom reports. I know the information is in there... I just need to make it into a lovely, easy to read, report. We can get staff using it. This tool has both sides of financial record keeping! Cons the email tool is too limited. We can't make it look any better, it doesn't keep a record of what is sent. It's pretty user-friendly, and customer service is alway super helpful. Our staff love it and our members rave about it! Cons Although the desktop site is great, the app needs some work. Their support has always been timely, not difficult to get and was easily understood. Pros This software is robust and accessible. It is an outstanding package that meets all our needs. Also, members can update their own information. We use the online giving, and it will automatically post contributions to the members statement. Pros is very user friendly-coming from a non tech person. works well with our needs. It is very simple for our members to go to realm and get contact info for other members. Realm has also made it easy for our treasurer to track financial giving. Realm has made online giving very simple as well. Before, we were on the fence on whether to go that route or not. But with Realm, that decision was easy. We've been using that feature for a year now, and have not regretted it one bit. Cons When we signed up with realm (several years ago now) they told us that a mass-texting feature was on the way. This was one of the things which caused us to go with realm over other options. However this feature is still not available. Hopefully it is still in the works?? Review Source KA Kimberly A. The members of our congregation are learning to communicate with one another and are finding value. Cons This is hard to say. Our biggest complaint is being able to turn off the email notifications. " March 12, 2018 4.0 Pros The interface is is easy to use and understand. Sometimes it's almost too easy! It helps us tracking engagement of our membership and check in with those folks we haven't seen in a bit. The security features for Children's check-in give our parents peace of mind. Cons From a stewardship standpoint it would be nice if the querying function had some more robust reporting options. We don't use the matching Accounting software so importing in to a different ACS product is challenging. Review Source DT David T. Group Leader Writing and Editing Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Incredibly Frustrating" April 14, 2020 1.0 Nearly every time I have to use it ends in frustration, unexpected results, lost time, asking someone for solutions, etc. And I have over 30 years I.T experience. This software needs to go back to the design room. Pros It's at least an attempt to unify the communication in a church environment. Cons Extremely difficult to navigate. Lots of missing functionality. Difficult to manage news feeds. Software sometimes sends out emails without notice or options when editing an item. One bug will even send the emails with old info prior to an edit. Documentation was almost useless. Extremely difficult to figure out how to get a task done. Something as simple as signing up for a small group is too buried for most users to locate, so everyone ends up contacting the group leader, asking to be signed up. Church Administrator Religious Institutions Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Only a year with Realm but many years with other ACS products" February 20, 2018 3.0 The ministerial staff wanted a way to connect with church members without using email and/or social media. We have found that most members rather use email and social media as their sources for information. Pros I like having the ACS support staff to help when I have questions. Groups are good to have when I need to send a message to all members of a group. Cons Realm is not very report friendly. I am accustomed to querying on any field with People but Realm doesn't react well to multiple field queries. The financial (contributions) portion is based on "gift date" rather than "deposit date" which most general ledgers use "deposit date" as the basis for all reports.
