September 4, 2018 5.0 In addition to the administrative time AwardSpring has saved me and our scholarship review team, our students love it! This process is so easy for a school that spans 11 counties with one scholarship rep! My job is worlds easier thanks to the AwardSpring platform! The ladies in support are amazing too! I know them by name and there is no waiting on hold nonsense. I can't speak highly enough about this product and the staff! Pros It is difficult to narrow down my favorite thing about AwardSpring, but if I have to only choose one it is definitely the administrative time is has saved me! From setting up scholarships, to helping applicants through the process, to reviewing applications, to awarding and receiving thank-you notes, the process is seamless and easy! Definitely well worth the money! Cons My least favorite thing is that sometimes it takes a while for the things on my wish list to be implemented, but there is a wish list! That in itself is awesome! December 13, 2019 5.0 I am very happy with AwardSpring. Their customer service is so quick to respond and their training was incredibly thorough. It makes our scholarship process a lot easier! Pros This software is very easy to use and made our scholarship process much more streamlined. We went from a paper application to AwardSpring and saw an increase in applicants as well as were able to easily track both students applications and the scholarships awarded. It is customizable to our needs and the team works with you to make sure it is working the way you'd like. Cons It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as some other scholarship software has, but also is MUCH less expensive than other scholarship software products. I'm almost always able to speak with someone when I call rather than having to wait or receive a call back. I think the price reflects the quality of the platform. Pros The platform has a nice user interface for the applicant. It's fairly easy to create and edit applications. Cons You can't have more than one cycle open at once. It allows us to efficiently manage all of our different scholarships and gives our applicants the convenience of filling out an easy online application. Pros I really enjoy using AwardSpring. I manage over 100 scholarships with different criteria for a community college foundation and this software helps me do that in a quick and efficient manner. Their customer service is easily accessible and responsive! There are no long hold times or annoying automated systems that send you around and around. Cons It would be nice if I would able to create my own customized reports. To do this now, I must call AwardSpring and request the report. I also wish I could easily search and email the individuals who have been listed for a letter of recommendation. There is no easy way to see how many letters are outstanding. Review Source Helen K. Many of our early suggestions for product improvements have been implemented by the staff, and we always get prompt answers to any questions that arise. The initial set up took some time, but every subsequent year the ramp-up work is minimized because of the ease of using the system. We now focus on developing more scholarships for students, rather than admiistering them. Pros Since switching from a manual system to AwardSpring, we have changed our focus from administration to development. Now entering our fourth season, our community-based program has grown from $70,000 in scholarships to $160,000 expected in this coming year. Students love it because they need only complete one application to apply for many of our scholarships. Cons The "award" stage requires a few steps, and it is easy to forget them, year to year. Perhaps a prompt to take you to the next action item would help. I think in the years that have followed, the company has made strides in creating new updates to fix issues/bugs and their customer service team is always ready with quick, effective assistance. Pros Ease of having reviewers judge the applicants and the fully customization for the scoring sheets. Easily copying one set of scholarships to the next cycle. Impersonating users. The ability to sort the applicants in the award and deny screen. Ability to see which students have been awarded when looking at all scholarships. I've been extremely happy with the customer service. Very quick response and assistance. Cons The process to implement was longer than expected. You cannot overlap award cycles. No real record of what emails have been sent. List of scholarships disappears if they are not in that award cycle. Sometimes it's tough to see all of the information on the award and deny screen with the different scrolling options. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer System Designer Building Materials Used the software for: 2+ years ### "More Than Doubled Applicants" December 3, 2018 5.0 Overall AwardSpring has been a very positive experience, the first year we started with AwardSpring we saw a more than doubling of the number of applicants to our scholarship coming from a paper application. There are no major issues with the product at all and the tech support is very responsive to questions asked while also taking feature requests. We have recommended AwardSpring to several other organizations who have also had just as positive experiences. Pros AwardSpring is a very easy to use software that allows for any type of question an organization might wish to ask their applicants to be asked easily with defined criteria. It makes the students lives easier with being able to see their applications, continuing at any point. We are able to retrieve data fairly easily and generally customize the application almost however we wish. Cons There are a few deficiencies with the product, namely there is no ability to do custom reporting, you cannot update a list of options after making them (e.g. Q3 has options A, B, & C, later on you want to add D, you cannot without deleting and recreating the question), and all scholarships must share the same application base, that is without making things conditional if you have 2 or more scholarships, they share the same questions, which is irritating if you have very different scholarships. Cons It's easy once you get it all set up, but I have a few scholarships that are a bit tricky but Award Spring walked me through it. It's sometimes hard to delete/add a question. Fabulous that the application is saved as they go. Customer service was stellar throughout our first year experience. The initial set up was time consuming, but well worth it. For the most part, reviewers liked the process. The biggest challenge was setting up scorecards and getting reviewers to complete in a timely manner. Pros That it centralizes the scholarship application, review and selection process. Cons There is no automatic notification to the students when a reference letter is posted to their application. We don't have to wait for mailed-in applications or exhibits to have an applicant finish their submission. We also love the review feature. Our volunteers can log in from anywhere, and at any time to review applications. We get so much more done with AwardSpring and in an efficient and easy manner! Pros AwardSpring is easy to use for someone with just about any level of software experience. You follow the directions, create your application, and you are pretty much ready to go. We also like the new pricing options. It's great that AwardSpring comes as both a Pro option as well as the month-to-month Now option. It makes the software a good fit for organizations of any size. Cons The software has one or two hidden buttons or toggles you have to find and make sure they are activated correctly in order for applicants to submit their applications. Fortunately, there's extensive help options when you just can't get something to work correctly. We also wish the submit application button was highlighted more or in a different color. So many of our applicants finish their applications, the info is auto-saved and they think they are done without hitting submit. If the button were green, and perhaps at the top of the page, maybe more applicants would notice they have to hit submit in order to be totally done. Review Source AL Amy L. The support team is excellent and always available to help. Pros The affordability of the product was a plus for us as we are a small college. I also liked that the features and imports were easy to use as I manage the scholarship process myself. I have help from our IT department, but it is a process I can manage with out too much support. I like that the review process has been easy for our reviewers. Cons I would like to be able to use separate award cycles. The product only allows for one award cycle at a time. I would also like more robust reporting features - I feel as if I need to manipulate the reports in excel once they have downloaded. Also, I am frustrated that you can not delete questions that are no longer necessary on the application. We've had to do a work around by making the unwanted question's answer be an obscure choice (like a country address that is unlikely someone would choose as an option). Review Source JS Jennifer S. August 9, 2016 5.0 When we purchased the software we had a really quick deadline to get everything implemented in time for the scholarship season. As with any new software, there was a learning curve and we did have a couple of hiccups along the way, however the customer support was absolutely awesome at solving any issues that cropped up and helped each of us understand the platform and it's capabilities better. With some companies you purchase their product and you regret it or never hear from them again. That is not the case with AwardSpring, they are there for you when you need them. I cannot say enough about the customer support and service! Pros I like that the software is relatively easy to use and all information is readily accessible. I also like the follow-up feature/additional requirements because it allows me to decide what I want to do be it gathering data or creating thank you cards . My favorite "feature" about the software is the team of people who provide assistance and support (i.e. Sales, Implementation Specialists, and Tech Support) AND the fact that they listen to your feedback and ideas and will often implement features sparked from those conversations. What that means for everyone using the software is the platform will keep getting better, and anything better than awesome is excellent in my book. Plus the customer service is excellent. They respond quickly and ensure you have the answers you need. Pros It was really easy to set up and has a lot of features to guide you along the way. Pros I get compliments all the time about how easy it is to apply for scholarships through Award Spring from students and high school counselors. When we needed assistance, the help we received was quick and thorough. Once set up, it is easy to use for applicants, admins, and reviewers. I have never had better customer service from any company. My questions are answered immediately whether I email or call. Cons It's a little difficult to remove a question from the application at this point. However, I hear that this is being addressed.
