My overall experience has been a good one from the moment I started using Fluxx to meeting \[sensitive content hidden\] at PEAK and networking with the support team at FluxxCon, as well as connecting with other Fluxx users. It continues to be a journey of learning and growth in my work as grants manager. My program team is forward thinking, innovative, collaborative state-wide and just out-there in amazing ways in what they want to do. It is fun and challenging to create the builds they can imagine with help from Fluxx. I am an honest user who struggles with new stuff on my plate but Fluxx helps me find the solutions step-by-step and we get it done! If you are considering Fluxx Grantmaking, I promise this, you wonʻt regret using Fluxx if you want to grow, learn and do amazing work in your realm of grantmaking. The tool is here. Iʻve been using Fluxx for three years in my role as grants manager. I did grants management for the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation about 20 years ago when we launched the first online grants portal in the State of Hawaii using the Gifts platform. I moved to the Big Island and retired from another career where I was a grant writer, among other duties, and managed everything from million dollar federal grants to small community grants. I understand nonprofit work and philanthropy from both sides of the table. I came back to my old grants management job part-time again in 2022 and had a one-day training in Fluxx. I already knew the grants management work. All I needed was to learn Fluxx and be able to work in the Admin panel. I had videos to watch and Fluxx Support. With that perspective, what I like and appreciate most about Fluxx is that you can literally build out anything you need to streamline or change up your workflow. So far Iʻve been able to quickly provide every Fluxx data query my bosses or program staff throw out at me. The queries are so easy. For grants management, the system is inclusive as your entire team uses the platform and sees each new action or transaction in the workflow. However, the best part is that we have been building RFPs for special projects. Most recently Fluxx support helped me build a locked dashboard that allowed us to spin-off our Youth Leadership Grant Program to a consultant in our community where we can supervise it while the consultant engages with the elementary through high school aged students who apply and do community service to earn funds for Project Grad events and neighbor island field trips. Fluxx can do what you are only now imagining and the support staff can help you learn to build out new workflows on your own. You can make the process easy for your applicants and grantees. Most of all you can rest easy in knowing that platform security is always on their minds. You work is secure with ongoing updates from some of the planetʻs most talented coders. Fluxx is just amazing.

Cons

My own learning curve made me hesitant about asking for help with minor updates and fixes. I came in with some coding experience and needed to learn a new card-based platform. That is honestly what I liked least about Fluxx. I like to attack a problem and find the solution on my own. I was not so successful at first. : ) However, once I started watching the training videos, reading the support articles and submitting help tickets, my knowledge began to grow. Much of the work in the admin panel is intuitive after some training. Beyond that you have a wealth of written resources and a very responsive support team. With the larger builds I was asked to take on, I had working model themes to start with and learned through support tickets how to tweak the model themes to exactly what I wanted. Building out new forms for RFPS, reviewer scorecards, requests, reports, amendments and auto-email tickers is now in my tool box with support staff assistance. I even ask the support team for zoom meetings to help me with a portion of my latest build process. The power to build what ever you need is in FLUXX. For thinkers, this is an amazing thing. That is well worth the learning curve and, hey, some of the Fluxx support staff I count as friends. They get plenty of opportunity to interact and assist with my questions! LOL.

Our overall experience has been excellent. Applicants love it, panelists love it, and our internal team loves it too. Fluxx works seamlessly with our custom integrations, including the city's unique payment systems and workflows. I’m excited to continue learning and growing with the platform. I’m aiming to become a power user!

Pros

Fluxx has become our one-stop shop for grantmaking! I love that we’ve been able to build applications and workflows that not only align with our department’s goals and objectives but also comply with city ordinance, municipal code, and council policy. As stewards of public funds, there are many checks and balances in place to ensure transparency and accountability and Fluxx supports all of it beautifully. One of the platform’s biggest strengths is its flexibility. We’ve been able to create different portals for different user types and grant limited access to those who need oversight on specific pieces, without overwhelming them with backend complexity. Once you’re familiar with the platform, it’s incredibly powerful. It has streamlined our entire process, from application tracking to communications, payments, and verification, everything flows more smoothly and efficiently. I also appreciate the wealth of support available: Fluxx University, the knowledge base, the community, and the support team have all been fantastic. The team doesn’t just fix issues, they partner with you to improve and optimize your processes when there’s a better, more efficient path forward. The platform is excellent, but the Fluxx team is what truly sets the experience apart. I can’t imagine not collaborating with them.

Cons

This isn’t exactly a con, but there is a learning curve. I joined my team mid-implementation, and due to tight deadlines, I didn’t have the chance to fully step back and learn the system from the ground up. Fluxx provides strong resources, but in some cases, you have to dive in, make mistakes, and learn as you go. That said, I highly recommend investing time in upfront training and a thoughtful build, it will absolutely save time and effort in the long run. The tools and support are there, you just have to use them!

### "Let it Flow with Fluxx"

Pros

I like how Fluxx continues to evolve and incorporate new and exciting features based on user feedback. It's wonderful to make a suggestion in the Fluxx community and then see it slowly come to life in product updates.

Cons

The Admin panel is a bit sensitive to manipulate and we would prefer something more user friendly (click and point). It takes a skilled hand to make certain changes on the backend but with practice it became somewhat easier.

### "Recommend Fluxx"

We've been on Fluxx for almost 7 years. In that time staff has taken the time to learn and become admins which has been important for us. Having that inhouse knowledge of the system's best practices and structure has been imperative in building and maintaining a system that supports the ever changing needs of our organization. Similarly, we are able to depend on Fluxx (Management, CSM and Support) for assistance as needed for different projects and enhancements. It has been a good partnership.

Pros

The system is very customizable. Our organization has specific data needs and we are able to meet these needs in a timely manner through managing and building in the system ourselves.

Cons

There are times that pulling data into an Adhoc or Excel report can be difficult if you do not know the correct file path. It can be a guessing game of if a field pull is correct and a lot of trial and error when pulling data.

### "Fluxx is a best-in-class GMS with an excellent customer experience team"

Overall, I don't think there's a better GMS out there than Fluxx. It's user-friendly on both the staff and grantee sides for people who aren't confident database users, and it offers nearly unlimited ways of looking at data for staff who are. Fluxx's customer experience staff are responsive, supportive, patient teachers, and transparent when they can't find an answer. The system's DocuSign integration is light years beyond what I've seen from other platforms. The Admin Panel comes with its frustrations for admin users, but it also provides more customization options and ownership than just about any other system I've worked in. And as a former grant writer myself, Fluxx's Grantee Portal was my favorite to use, hands down.

Pros

On the user side (both staff and grantee), it is best-in-class - I haven't seen another GMS that allows for as much data as Fluxx does present things so simply, cleanly, and accessibly. The customization options are also very good, and Fluxx's customer experience staff do an excellent job.

Cons

For admin users, the Admin Panel is much less clean and simple an experience than the grantee, reviewer, or even employee views. There doesn't seem to be a single written resource that addresses the system in its entirety, and there's too much detail for every element covered in the "Fluxx University" trainings for admin users to be fully retained forever once the trainings are complete. It feels like the system has been cobbled together over time, with things living in a variety of places and not always following the same logic. That disorganization comes through in the ad hoc reporting tool as well, where finding the correct fields to add to a report is incredibly difficult, even with a search function.

Of those, Fluxx made the most sense from both a financial perspective (largely because they were the only platform offering unlimited staff accounts) and a user experience perspective.

Through Fluxx implementations at two different organizations, I have had a very positive experience with both the platform and the Fluxx team. I most recently completed a Quick Start Implementation, which streamlined the process immensely.

Pros

The platform can be customized to meet the specific workflow and process needs of each client. The user interface, for both internal and grantee users, is intuitive and can be tailored to the needs of specific users.

Cons

The admin panel can be overwhelming at times, particularly for items you don't access or update frequently.

The Fluxx staff was patient, kind, and thorough through all tasks. The build was tough but I never felt alone in the process.

Pros

Fluxx addressed access issues that mattered to my Trustees as well as provided a turnkey product for how my day-to-day tasks actually work.

Cons

Nothing sticks out - perhaps the backend could be a bit cleaner in terms of naming data that is used to pull in reporting information.

\-Great functionality out of the box, but with a high degree of customization available to clients -Fluxx as a company is constantly evolving and improving the platform and responding to client needs for features and functionality -Big market share = big customer base = big user community -Active user community, with excellent "Community" website with many channels and robust contributions from users across the spectrum of clients -Long and growing list of third party integrations, including middleware -Excellent user conference (just wish it was every year!) -Fluxx company shares my values and those of my employer - this is important for the work we do

\-Fluxx is not a CRM, and although they have gotten better thanks to Fluxx's efforts and those of the robust user community and implementation partners, CRM-like functions aren't naturally built in. -Client learning and training is not a "one stop" experience; learning (especially as an admin) is cobbled together from documentation, training modules, webinars, user community, consultants/implementation partners, user conference, etc. -Document management is a pain and could really use a major overhaul -Expensive (although probably similar to close competitors)

Fluxx is highly customizable and serves the needs of various functions across grantmaking organizations - traditional workflow based grants management, project management, relationship management, financial reporting, data stewardship, etc. Additionally, the Fluxx tech support team is wonderfully responsive. Given how much the system can do, it's nice to have expert partners available quickly to support on getting the most out of your instance.

The grantee portal would benefit from upgrading, aesthetically and functionally, and, fortunately, it's on the roadmap.

It was great working with him.

It is user friendly. Easy to navigate through the grantee portal. Also, I love that it can auto generate emails to our clients so we can consistently give them updates on their applications or reports. q

Some things like the dynamic box are too small. Our clients say they cannot read all of the questions we have on applications.

My overall experience with Fluxx Grantmaker has been positive, especially when it comes to streamlining and organizing complex grantmaking processes. The platform is highly customizable, which allows our team to tailor workflows to match our internal procedures. Once set up, it significantly reduces manual tracking and back-and-forth communication, making the entire lifecycle—from application to reporting—much more efficient. That said, the initial learning curve was steep. It took time for both staff and grantees to become comfortable with the system, and some features required technical support or training to fully implement. Additionally, the depth of customization, while powerful, can lead to overcomplication if not carefully managed.

We recently completed a two-year onboarding process with Fluxx, and the experience was great from start to finish. \[sensitive content hidden\] and the Fluxx team provided exceptional support as we scoped and developed dozens of complex programs while ensuring our system was designed to accommodate future growth. I appreciated their flexibility and allowing us to move the project forward at a pace that worked best for us. One of the reasons why our Fluxx build was so complex is because we are building custom integrations with our Fluxx environment. \[sensitive content hidden\] and team expertly helped us navigate this process by ensuring our Fluxx build and models would align with future integrations, and also by guiding us when we had an array of technical questions. There were multiple times during implementation where \[sensitive content hidden\] helped us rapidly and efficiently resolve blockers which is a true testament to her deep knowledge of Fluxx and her care for Fluxx customers. \[sensitive content hidden\] and the Fluxx Data team also led us through a large-scale data migration in phases which provided our team with clear goals and milestones. All of this support has really set us up for success to maintain and scale our Fluxx environment - we are so grateful to \[sensitive content hidden\] and the entire Fluxx team!

The system's ability to handle dozens of complex programs with different forms and workflows combined with an admin's ability to make quick changes as needed, is impressive. Additionally, the Fluxx team and the Fluxx community forums are both excellent!

Some settings/features can't be controlled based on user profile, making segmentation more complex to implement.

### "A Grants Management System for Learning Organizations"

We selected Fluxx after poring over a dozen possibilities and two like-functional contenders, chiefly because we knew our staff would value well-designed, anywhere anytime access (great web and app interfaces); our grantseekers /grantees would appreciate how Fluxx's portal design addresses common frustrations of applying for and managing a grant; and the Fluxx company itself is the brainchild of extremely thoughtful people who not only understand philanthropy first hand, but are as committed as we are to making these tools advance our effectiveness, not bog us down. Our instance of Fluxx is used by the entire staff every day as a knowledgebase and resource for understanding the impact of our grantmaking, a first for us, and it has simplified the regulatory work of our grantmaking beyond expectations.

Pros

Fluxx has a great process for working with you to build a grants management system that reflects your grantmaking culture while connecting you to the power of its software and effective practices in the field. The underlying architecture is fast, reliable and secure, and training (from grantseeker to reviewer to program team to hard core admin) is an easy path. They are great listeners, and demonstrate how critical our grantmaker experiences are to product design and features. Yet the value of Fluxx is not exclusively on the technical side, it's also in how it can support a transformation of attitudes about what the role of grants management is going to be in your organization. Last but not least: Fluxx is as accessible as they are brainy: they are catalyzing a community of users using grassroots principles (their annual (un)Conferences are completely user-driven), and their leadership is as likely to join a conversation as the first-touch support staffer.

Cons

Fluxx is growing fast and on the way to ramping up its support and implementation teams to meet a dramatic increase in demand. Until they catch up, the out-of-the-box training materials and knowledgebase can reflect outdated material. This is further exacerbated by the fact Fluxx often turns on a dime (yay), improving features before full documentation is updated (uh-oh). Luckily, their user community is filling in the gaps as is a new program of quick training webinars.

### "Works but definitely areas for improvement"

At our Foundation's basic level, the system enables us to do what we need to do -- store grant data and enact a workflow to award grants and approve payments.

Pros

As an end user, it's easy to make way through the system and see/do what you need to do.

Cons

Reporting is tedious, hard to get the data (or even find the data -- backend name and knowing all the right parameters) that you want. Having so much of the information available it s challenge bc it's overwhelming. Data manipulation/filtering is not easy. A novice user can't easily create a report, so there's a dependency on others to do it for them. Also feel like I need to really learn liquid language to make effective administrative changes. Would be nice to have more end user friendly ways for administrative maintenance.

### "CFSEM Fluxx Review"

The experience with iNet when we implemented in 2019 was less than ideal. After handing over the reigns to us, and we learned the administrative backend on our own, we quickly realized that the initial build of Fluxx was already unsustainable in the way it was structure. The documentation that was provided was less than ideal and was very little help. The training was also miserably lacking, as our whole staff would likely agree on. Fluxx was a step forward for us, as we have been using a legacy system may decades old, but the longer we used it, the more issues cropped up. The more I learned in the admin panel, the more I realized that the current setup was unsustainable and would eventually require a complete rebuild if we were to remain. We got very little help with that issue (about unsustainability) and little to no advice from Fluxx on how to proceed. We are getting by today, but as we add more programming we continue to struggle to fit things in our current setup. Not only is the setup an issue, the persistent issues with existing functionality, the bugs that arise and take a year to get fixed. Its been frustrating to say the least.

Pros

That it's cloud based, and helped our organization modernize.

Cons

The service, hands down. It takes days and weeks sometimes for tickets to be responded to. We've had tickets open for years that impact the usability and administration of the system. Tickets sent to engineering get lost in the void so much that its a common jest among the Fluxx user communities. I often have to reach a point of frustration where I am emailing our Fluxx representative before movement is made. And still, most often the response is that 'its with engineering'.

I like that I can use it from anywhere as long as I have an Internet connection. The complaints about the search capabilities have been ongoing for many users. It's fine for what it is, but I’m not a fan of its business model of wanting users to become self-sufficient and knowledgeable. It's no accident that larger foundations using Fluxx have hired former Fluxx staff to maintain Fluxx at their foundations. That's not an option for everyone. I am not a programmer, nor do I wish to become one, so I'm frustrated with the lack of customer support.

I think it serves its purpose and functions as it's supposed to so we can manage our grant records. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it.

Cons

Lack of search options. Straight forward field names. Convoluted filters. Fluxx is not always intuitive for new users, and many staff have a difficult time finding what they need. Many features are limited and unless we get creative they do not lend themselves to automation.

### "Review of Fluxx"

Fluxx has been very helpful in keeping the grantmaking process flowing, and has been particularly useful during this time when we have been working remotely.

Pros

Fluxx is highly customizable, and has the ability to connect to third party platforms through api's. The native workflow in Fluxx helps the grantmaking process move through the grant cycle, keeping people informed and ultimately supporting decision-making and money into the hands of nonprofits in a timely manner.

Cons

Reporting could be improved; it's overly complicated to set up reports. Customer service could also be more responsive -- there are times when a ticket is submitted and follow-up is less than timely.

Reason for choosing Fluxx Grantmaker

We demo'ed both of these products for our staff, and the concensus was that people felt that Fluxx was the right choice for us.

### "Great for customization"

Overall, I enjoy using Fluxx and have found it easy to use after being trained and having been the administrator for a while. Now that I understand how the system works, it's easy to troubleshoot and customize features to our needs. However, for new users on the grantee and employee side, it can be a bit tricky to figure out. There are certain features that I wish could be improved, like financial reporting, reporting out on impact, and types of data collection.

Pros

As the admin user of Fluxx, I like all the customization features of Fluxx that allows us to create a grant application that perfectly matches what we want to collect. The ability to customize applications and reports as an admin user is great, and I like the independence of using the system without needing technical support from Fluxx. The same goes for troubleshooting issues - the admin panel is overall easy to understand after you have been trained and used it for a bit.

Cons

The reporting features or methods of measuring impact data are not as strong as I would like. In order to learn more about our grants, we have to either do an excel export manually or create an AdHoc report to show data. AdHoc reports are a bit tricky to set up, and still end up in an excel format instead of a summary card on Fluxx. I would like a better way to report on grants, and share reports or impact data with leadership at my organization. Fluxx is also not easy for all to understand if users are not tech-savvy. It might benefit from working through some kinks and being a little more user friendly on the grantee side.

### "Fluxx for Medium-Sized Foundations is a No Brainer Decision "

We have been using Fluxx live for the past ten months. Five of those months we used it internally and launched it to our grantees in March of this year. Quite simply it has been a game changer for our foundation. Our program officers have better insight into their work. It becomes an interactive tool that informs meetings in real time. It allows us to analyze our work in new ways. And, because it is so customizable, we are constantly finding new ways to bring all kinds of workflow and business processes into the Fluxx system. Our goal is to make it the central place for all of our daily activities, internal and external. As my tiltle says, being a medium-sized foundation, this purchase is a no brainer. Fluxx counts most of the country's largest foundations as its clients. How the platform works is that all improvements go to all clients. That means as the big boys like Kresge build in PRI capabilities, the rest of us get these improvements at no cost. This is a much different development and sales model than most foundations are used to with previous options like Microedge and FIMS where you got nickled and dimed for every part you wanted to add. And our grantees love it too. Admittedly, we are a bit late to the party with online grantmaking, but our grantees have made numerous comments to us about how user friendly the interface and grants process is with Fluxx vs. the other platforms they use with other grantmakers. When we first looked at changing to Fluxx I went to the TAG (Technology Affinity Group) conference to meet real users and talk about their experiences. Two were actually going live at the conference. At this time, all of those users could be considered early adopters. As anyone who adopts tech products early knows, that means lots of pain points. So after three days meeting and talking with these folks and hearing the good and bad (and being early adopters there was a lot of bad), I asked them all the same question. If they were starting today and could choose any platform, would they still choose Fluxx. Without a pause every single one of them said without question they would still choose Fluxx. And now as a customer I agree. Nothing is ever perfect, but there is a reason foundations are switching to this platform at an amazingly fast rate. It is best in class next generation software made by grantmakers for grantmakers. It works so well because they truly understand how we work.

Pros

1\. The Fluxx community (truly the best and most supportive group of users I've ever experienced from a software platform) 2. anytime/anywhere/any device access (with great iOS and soon Android app) 3. regular updates and upgrades included in monthly fees that add features you actually want and need 4. good customer support with people that get to know you and your software instance 5. great conference every year 6. ample learning opportunities provided by the vendor at no additional cost (except for conference) 7. company leadership that comes from our sector and understands our needs 8. upgrades and updates add features and functionality that customers request 9. easy to use for end users (both grantees and staff) 10. admin panel is complex with lots of depth and features but is manageable once you are trained in how powerful it is and what it can do.

Cons

1\. Would like to see the development of integration into a board book platform or an integrated board book feature. No one has done this, it would be revolutionary. 2. So many new and useful features, sometimes it is hard to keep up. 3. Not much else, we are very pleased with this change

Pros

Fluxx is such an easy product to use and it lifts so much of the burden off of foundation grant admins and grant applicants. Crowdsourcing techniques through the Fluxx community is a wonderful way to innovate our work.

Cons

There are slow downs from time to time and I wish there would be quicker support to resolve bugs.

We open requests for proposals continuously throughout the year, and have about 200 active grants at any time. Fluxx is able to scale with our needs quite well. While building new functionality in Fluxx requires a technical learning curve, we've had good luck with Fluxx service support.

Pros

The degree of customization, as well as customer service and support for Fluxx are strong selling points.

Cons

Using the admin panel to customize Fluxx features requires a fair amount of training. I was worried about this initially, but found that Fluxx has several options to provide user training and/or consultation.

### "Good product, but beware the runaround"

Pros

Relatively easy for applicants, grantees and internal staff to learn. It has tremendously our process of creating allocation letters. Good filtering ability and good searching ability.

Cons

I had few complaints as staff user, but now that I am on the team that deals with Fluxx my largest complaints are with customer service and customer support. We've had support tickets open for two years and counting. We are optimistic that the support process will change but for now it seems that there is a language barrier with the reviews, along with the issue of the time it takes for resolution. We'll put in a ticket with explicit technical details and they will ask for the same technical details we covered in our original ticket. We've tried to improve our wording on these tickets but this exchange always happens. This would not be an issue if this meant swift resolution to our tickets, but we're frustrated since this slows down an already glacial process. Fluxx has planned new features but they rarely meet the expected timeline, and now it seems they will not give anyone an explicit expectation of when new features will be implemented. The Fluxx team loves the phrase "It's on the roadmap" as an example of their adoption of corporate vague-ness. We're crossing our fingers the customer support improves. Size does not seem to improve the customer support experience, in face, we are one of the larger clients in Fluxx.

### "Fluxx in depth Review"

Overall, I don't have a real complaint about the products. There's always more customizing we could do but we have also reached a place of "efficiency" and if we need to become more efficient, Fluxx is flexible enough for us to do so.

Pros

The ability to customize the system to the exact needs of our staff all while still being visually pleasing and efficient.

Cons

At first I found it not to be "as intuitive" as I thought it should be.
