### "Best Database for a Non-Coder"

April 26, 2021

5.0

I love because I am able to build simple but useful custom programs and databases while knowing basically zero code. Although there are really key features that stop Airtable just short of perfect, it is still leagues better than a normal spreadsheet for sure.

Pros

has the power and functionality of a database but is as easy to use as a spreadsheet! As someone who sells software (saas), Airtable allowed me to essentially create programs for my clients even though I do not code. Airtable sets the new gold standard for what a spreadsheet should be able to do. i cannot go back to a normal spreadsheet now.

Cons

There are a few critical features you'll run into that stop this software from being perfect unfortunately. It's a shame too because they seem very obviously needed and demanded; things like having storage space increase option past premium plan limit, writing formula across cells from multiple tables instead of just the same table, etc. I have hope these things will be part of the development roadmap soon though.

Alternatives considered

[Google Sheets](https://www.capterra.com/p/169718/Google-Sheets/)[Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/)

Reason for choosing Airtable

is a database, not just a spreadsheet. It allows me to build more complex programs complete with automations, integrations, & an API. A normal spreadsheet just can't match that.

### "Excellent application integration and fast database creation"

November 3, 2023

Using , we are able to consolidate data for teams working in different locations, ensuring that everyone always has access to the most up-to-date information. I can organize and analyze seemingly impossible data on a spreadsheet with the help of Airtable, and I can even perform some really deep reasoning without knowing how to code.

Pros

I appreciate the adaptability. With the help of drop-down menus, department-specific colors, and the ability to sort data by any number of criteria, I can easily organize my data into useful chunks. Though I'm only just getting started with , I'm enjoying my time with it and am looking forward to learning all there is to know about it.

Cons

It can be cumbersome to keep track of which users have access to certain databases and tables, therefore you may prefer to use a different platform when communicating with stakeholders.

### "Uncomplicates the Complicated "

June 3, 2021

5.0

The small non-profit I work with utilizes to organize many aspects of their organization. From members, to new member requests, conference, sponsorships and on-going projects. Allowing for multiple people to access and edit, this has helped streamline the tasks of the organization.

Pros

Being able to create labels for tasks and projects and help determine where we are in the scheme of things. With multiple people working within a project, being able to glance and see updates, notes, and progress has been helpful.

Cons

There's a little bit of a learning curve, but nothing that can't be figured out easily or asking for assistance. With different permissions, it's making sure you have the capability to do what you want to do.

### "The Evolution Of The Spreadsheet"

June 24, 2018

5.0

is a refreshing new look at what spreadsheets can be. It is great for organizations with varying degrees of user experiences with spreadsheets. And if your organization uses spreadsheets quite extensively, then this might be a great alternative. As mentioned in Cons, the proprietary nature of Airtable means that if you need to keep a standalone copy in a file format, you will not be able to do so. You can import those current spreadsheets, but once manipulated and modified in Airtable, you must continue using it. So, archival files are not possible. Something to consider, as some enterprise environment do like to keep electronic files locally archived for attachment to specific documentations. Airtable might not be that solution.

Pros

Spreadsheets are great because of their flexibility. But most of its power lies behind a vast library of functions that users must have a good understanding about its syntax and how to use it. Add to that the fact that they are not exactly pretty to look at. The solution lies with . Coined as part spreadsheet and part database, it provides a new way of displaying vital information without all the hassles of setting up a spreadsheet. For starters, Airtable offers a vast array of templates and layouts to choose from. If you are proficient, or the templates simply do not provide you with the necessary layout, you can start one from scratch. Maybe even create your own template. Airtable is like a high performance spreadsheet with a serious upgrade on its user interface. Even the user experience is something quite amazing. YOu add, remove or modify the columns and configure them to accept the data you need. It does all a spreadsheet can do, except that its coolest feature is its ability to go from a grid appearance, like your typical spreadsheet, to a form appearance, which resembles more of a database. Airtable offers a wide array of functionality in its free subscription level. Upgrades offer more customization options that enhance the functionality and appearance of your table. And to make the transition from regular old boring spreadsheets to Airtable, they offer importing of your data to start off with.

Cons

It is much easier than your typical spreadsheet, but if you are a true spreadsheet power user, you may find a bit of a lack in its functionality. Again, only if you are a power user, which most of us are really not when it comes to everything spreadsheets can do. There are limited hover over hints for the buttons and fields, so you need to really click on them to find out what they are used for. Novice spreadsheet users will still find a similar learning curve with , but because the core functionalities are visible from the top ribbon, it does make it just a bit easier to use. But, remember, there will still be a slight learning curve, especially with more advance features. Please note, it does well at importing those current spreadsheets, but Airtable is proprietary and online, and does not do well if you need to export it into a document for archival purposes.

### "Airtable for the win!"

September 23, 2023

5.0

allows our team to easily search for jobs and communicate with each other through the system.

Pros

I love how versatile and moldable is. You can customize it to fit your business needs. We use forms to capture new customer inquiries and store all of our project management data within it. We use automations to reduce human error and stress on employees so they can focus on customer service and problem solving.

Cons

We needed to build out a customer portal and at the time, we were not able to do it all in so added on a couple of other products to make it happen but were still happy when it began to work.

Reason for choosing Airtable

Not really, we needed something custom built for us and we got it with though we also use Stacker which now has the capabilities of replacing Airtable.

### "A Project Management Software to Increase Your Productivity"

February 18, 2023

5.0

The overall experience with this software is excellent and this software helped me a lot to manage my projects and saved a lot of my time by providing excellent features.

Pros

The thing I like the most while using this software is its easy to use dashboard and ability to perform or manage all the projects, tasks, workflow in just one click. It provides almost all necessary features that are useful to manage day to day projects or tasks.

Cons

One thing that I don't like about this software is its support system. Although its easy to use interface does not need any training but sometimes you just get confused and that time you need support. Its support system is a bit slow and you need to wait for the response.

### "Extremely flexible, generally intuitive organising software"

April 23, 2022

5.0

Using has really helped me manage all sorts of things in a flexible, helpful way and I look forward to growing into more and more of its functionality.

Pros

It’s very instinctive to learn and has a lot of opportunities to tailor how you look at and present information, from different views with grid, gallery, kan ban and other options to charts, reports and forms. There’s also a lot of scope for integration and automations. It’s software that’s easy to start free and then grow into more use the more it can pay for itself.

Cons

You can’t use it when you have no internet access. You can’t add occasional or partial collaborators to a paid-for workspace without paying the full user cost for them, though there are other ways to bring in or share certain information, even with a free account.

Reason for choosing Airtable

It was more flexible, easier to learn and better value for our needs.

### "An exceptionally user-friendly tool for project planning and data management."

June 27, 2022

5.0

I have been using for a significant length of time, and it has impressed me from the beginning. It has helped me organize project resources and relevant data, and it has been critical in scheduling tasks and events. I have also used in a personal capacity to help organize my home, and keep meticulous records of valuable possessions. This same system of inventory management is easily scaled up for a business of any size.

Pros

The first thing that I noticed when I started using this software was how user-friendly the entire platform is. Every feature is labeled clearly and the UI effectively draws attention to each area of interest. Another noteworthy aspect of the UI is how visually appealing the display is. The colors used for the menu bar and the menus on either side of the main content are bright, vibrant hues that contrast with the easily legible white main display where your content is input.

Cons

The free version omits some useful features that could be useful to personal users; these include some of the "views" that are used to determine what kind chart is going to be created, specifically the "timeline" and "gantt" views. Also, the number of attachments and imported data records are limited in the free version.

### "Longtime Airtable User"

November 10, 2021

5.0

I hands down would not be able to track my incoming flow of client work without . It was a final solution to a really big problem. It's easy on the eyes and easy to compartmentalize my project workflow.

Pros

The simplest form of using is still so much better than using Excel Spreadsheets. Airtable is fairly easy to use, however, does take a bit of time to learn about so many of the features it has to offer. I could probably apply more time in learning how it could further benefit the way I use it every day in my business.

Cons

I do find there are SO MANY great features, it might be nice to have an onboarding specialist... heck I've been such a long-time user maybe they have this. Their customer support is top-notch and quick to respond to any requests.

### "Literally Use It For Everything - And LOVE It! "

September 9, 2021

5.0

Pros

I own 3 different businesses, an instrument manufacturing business, marketing agency, and automotive wheel repair business - very different I know haha. is completely vital for every single one AND for all the clients I manage in there as well on top of personal use. I literally use Airtable for everything from lead management to production management and tracking to home projects. Here are a few key things I love, 1. How easy it is to use. I can create a custom database/spreadsheet/whatever so incredibly fast even on my phone! 2. The capability of Airtable is amazing. The fact that I can use it for a simple to do list with some more advanced ability all the way to tracking inventory for thousands of items, building quotes, tracking where different drum kits are in the production process and what still needs to be done or ordered then creating a purchase order from that all within 1 table - for FREE - is absolutely amazing to me. 3. The referral credits and program is awesome! 4. Collaboration is very easy and I love how you can have a conversation with the team even on each record. it makes creating new advertising campaigns or taking with my team about a specific drum kit etc. so easy. 5. It updates everywhere so fast so I can keep tabs on my different teams in real time and see if they need anything. I can't say enough good things about Airtable.

Cons

The only con for me is the price. Once you move to paid forms its not expensive at first but once you add team members and add more bases it can get out of hand very fast. I have been able to run everything for free for years but I do wish we could utilize things like their app market or different colors etc. but I just cant justify the price.

And google sheets we still use often because it is a concessional spreadsheet but if Airtable could do complex formulas as much as Google sheets could I wouldn't use Google sheets anymore.

### "A good organizer."

April 5, 2022

5.0

That's the one app I am using all day. Restrictions, everywhere, as it's a kind of pseudo-database, but something like an improved excell sheet with database in it. Its my preferred app because of the easy fast way to organize my work. Sharing tables with colaborators may be tricky because charge may come higher than you thought.

Pros

This is the case, when I can only tell cons, however I am using every day, organizing all my business with it. It's not a powerful database like Caspio for example, there are lots of things don't work as should. BUT it's a handy, internet based database, allowing you to easy create views, and see information sorted, to hide fields ot group by a field it's probably the best way in my opinion, you can view the information the way its most productive for you. check boxes, multi-select or single select fields, autonumbering and a range of colors you can use to see information , easy way to introduce colaboration with "Make" - ex- Integromat , and Zapier and Jotforms and more makes Airtable a handy tool. I would not give 5 starts to any of its features. And still is the application I use everyday to plan my jobwork.

Cons

Deduplication fields. Guys, please: I need to deduplicate all lines, pressing one button. Why can't you include the option 'dedup all' - on my own risk and I have to do it one-by-one and ask me if i agree? And the 'merge option' is buggy. Automations are buggy. It's a feature supposed to run javascript code, that's not exactly working here. Also, to combine tables and fields, as they say it's handy but doing many things here one by one, and can't press to apply some rule to all , is really missing. However, if you do small tasks, it's probably the best app.

### "Airtable is a very versatile task management tool "

July 28, 2023

5.0

I'm very very happy with the way I can manage my task planning on . I find it much more versatile compared to Excel. It's easy to pick up, looks easier on the eye, and has more advanced task segmentation options.

Pros

I love how simple it is to use. It follows the same basic principles as Excel but the interface and features are far better. I can segment, modify, and integrate my input very quickly. The system is also very easy to navigate, you rarely have to look around for any settings etc.

Cons

The mobile interface could have been better. It limits a lot of the features to PC, and you can't do much more than basic editing on mobile.

### "Airtable is our daily driver and trusted data keeper"

March 14, 2022

5.0

Overall is a great product that we will continue to use because the alternative, competitive products simply do not have the feature set, and are even more difficult to learn. We find that with Airtable we can be as productive as possible in a reasonable amount of time, and feel secure that our data is safe.

Pros

, once learned, is simple to use for data collection, data management, and reporting. We like being able to build custom forms, quickly, to add data to records and it makes our employee's jobs easier. The mobile features are strong and allow us to get work done on the road by phone, and we feel like our data is safe and accessible.

Cons

has a learning curve for admin and users. Not to say this is Airtable's fault, but to say Airtble is "plug and play" would be false. This learning curve has proven time consuming and creates delays when onboarding new employees who's strength is not data management platforms.

### "Why I use Airtable to store my data"

July 26, 2019

5.0

I run a site called Wikihospitals, and display international health technology services. This data all needs to be linked together, so I can see information like country of origin, founder's details, technology used and medical specialty covered. was a great discovery for me. I can shared my data easily, embedded it into my website and am now transforming it into a fully fledged directory site.

Pros

Before , pre formatted databases were costly platforms to subscribe to, and extremely difficult to create from scratch (for the non coder). Airtable is just dead easy to use. It looks like a spreadsheet but behaves like a database. You can import or export data as a CSV file. You can share a link or embed a view into you website using iframe code. It is also lightning fast. You can link any number of different 'sheets' together. You can selecting different types of 'fields' ie numerical, date, multiple select, calculations, upload document etc. You can also display your data in a range of 'views' from maps to calendars to gallery views of pie and bar charts.

Cons

When using the embed code option, it doesn't show that well on a mobile device. Apart from that, it's really the perfect software for people with a large amount of data and no code skills.

Reason for choosing Airtable

Cost, ease of use, flexibility, attractive front end, speed.

### "Wonderful solution to spreadsheets, needs more restrictive access, tech support needs improvement."

October 10, 2017

4.0

We can have many views of the same data in one place without duplicating the data. Each person can have their own view based on the data they need to see. The biggest benefit we've had is time saving and the ability to access this data anywhere, at any time.

Pros

Last year I was on the search for a solution to replace XLS and found . Previously we were using microsoft xls, as we found even GoogleDocs didn't work for our purpose. We produce hundreds and up to thousands of products for one event and previously used xls to keep track of production and for by line item invoicing purposes. The ability to have all the data in one spreadsheet but then filter things out in a specific view that allows you to see only what you want is useful and makes it so you don't have to have multiple spreadsheets with the same data. For example we have an invoicing view, that's filtered easily to show costs. Then a post event inventory view where clients can see what they can use for next event. We also have a QC view where our team members can easily QC the product without all the unnecessary data in their view/way. We also use filters to easily show us what still needs to be approved and what is left to be produced for the event. It's a been a great way for us to manage large scale projects and our clients love it. Also, the fact that it has a phone app is helpful to us since we work events, we are constantly on the road traveling and not always at a computer. The ability to download the spreadsheets is simple also, so when I need to create an XLS file to accompany our invoice, this is simple and easy for me to do.

Cons

The #1 priority for improvement that every user complains about is the lack of restrictive access. Access is "all or nothing" so if I give my clients "Read" access, they're only limited to one view and can't edit or note anything. If we give them "Edit" access they are able to edit anything in our entire database, including our pricing, so that doesn't work. We want, for example, a customer to be able to go and note/change info for one column and not be able to add/remove anything. For example they could go in and put "approved" for a line item that they approve for production, but can't change any cells not in that column. I'm not confident in their tech support at this time . Recently we had some data loss issues that created mass concern. We added data to specific cells in an existing spreadsheet, and the next day the data was gone. Airtable keeps record of any change in a cell and there was no record of us ever entering the data, like it never happened. We provided specific examples and their explanation of "packet loss" on our end makes zero sense. Based on data that we entered that day, we added a photo, then added a date, photo, then date... all the photos stuck, the dates did not, so it would mean that every other second a packet data loss happened? They still haven't given a suitable answer to this, and if you can't rely on the data you enter being there, that's made us think twice about moving to the paid version, which we were about to.

### "I'm in love with Airtable (don't tell my husband — just kidding, he already knows)"

January 14, 2023

5.0

I'm constantly thinking about new things I want to do in . It's a joy to use. It requires training to use with a team but my team caught on very quickly. I recommend it to everyone, including those who have data to organize for personal projects!

Pros

is one of those no code tools that makes you feel like you could create anything — the limit is your imagination. I use it for SO many different business functions: it's our main project management tool, our CRM, we use it for bookkeeping and expense tracking, I used it to organize the media opportunities around my book launch, and that's just scratching the service. Sure, there's a bit of a learning curve between the interface, all the options, and advanced features like automations — I build on my knowledge to learn something new everyday. So to get the most out of it, you need to be open to continuously learning and thinking about ways to improve your workflows or seeking examples from others. I enjoy their new interface designer — it's clear that Airtable is continuously innovating. I use so many automations to help improve information flow and visibility with my team. You can also connect Airtable with other tools like Glide (as I have) to build a functional app with no coding experience.

Cons

Like any enterprise tool, it scales according to features and your plan type. You can't choose a lower priced plan for someone on your team if you have a higher priced plan. That's a bit tough for a small business — it's clear that tools like are perhaps better suited and affordable for the big guys. So I hope against all hope that Airtable won't phase out users like me because we also have so much to gain from affordable access to Airtable!

### "Airtable is excellent in communication management"

February 14, 2023

5.0

Time tracking is less robust. The tools themselves lack customization. Only modifies a few functions. There could be a notification when an external guest views a ticket, and it would be nice to have a status when someone clicks on a ticket. I don't like not having a centralized project directory. You have to be invited to do everything, and I miss some projects because someone didn't invite me.

Pros

has been the de facto project management tool both inside and outside our company. We use it for all our internal project management, but also as a communication and project management tool for our clients. For each client project, we set up a different project and handle all related tasks and communication through Airtable. Airtable is a tool with a very gentle learning curve. Anyone with limited knowledge of project management tools can use it, as it is more of a communication tool that helps you keep all your communication in one place. For those using such a tool, it is a bit of a challenge, as replies to messages can be sent through common email clients, which is another advantage of the system.

Cons

File management, associated to each task or message. Each email has its own attachments and you can easily find what you want according to popular categories. Easy task management. Simple task management methods always look and work better than complex tools. Each task is assigned to the right person and all task communication is located directly below the task. Communication between company and customer. All messages go to the right members of both teams and communication is never lost.

### "fantastic solution for information-oriented project management"

March 27, 2018

4.0

Pros

\* lends itself well to building information tracking resources \* simple data-driven layout \* scalable project areas my operations team uses to manage a lot of information flow and have converted complex tracking resources into the airtable format. the fact that we now utilize the app for a lot of these solutions is a testament to its immediate strengths. i enjoy how airtable doesn't necessarily force me into any specific workflow, which has been the major reason why other project management solutions don't work--everyone has a different philosophy around project management.

Cons

\* pricing model \* learning curve \* communication management \* lack of certain standard features there are a lot of glaring pain points that my team encounters on a weekly basis which makes , not necessarily the perfect solution but rather the best we've found so far. first off, airtable is too expensive for my company based specifically on their pricing model. to note, airtable charges per user per workspace. each member of my team manages specific projects related to a different area of the business. for ease of organization, we have a separate airtable workspace built to accomodate each employee. for example, we have a workspace for finance projects and a workspace for customer support projects. from a visual project management standpoint, this makes the most sense. sometimes our finance manager will need to engage and comment on a project base going on in the customer support workspace and vice versa. this engagement occurs daily. if you're a single user, incredibly small team or your company is client-based (where these costs would go into your billing), airtable's pricing model may not be much of a hinderance. there is a high learning curve when you get started. this is about a week of tutorials and deep-diving into the app. a lot of this time was spent modifying personal workflows to best utilize airtable. after that week of hair-pulling and a lot of cursing at our computer screens everything immediately became easier. one strong flaw in airtable is its team communication solutions. you have the ability to run comment strings on individual data rows, but an overall tab dedicated to general discussion would be immensely helpful to streamline discussion and reduce the amount of hunting/pecking for information. for a project management solution, airtable is fairly weak at offering seemingly standard task management features like scheduled notifications and workback timelines. after enough online digging, you can sometimes stumble upon a "good enough" solution. on this subject, archiving is not at all available, which is one of the more "seriously?" missing features.

### "Seamless project management capabilities through a very interactive UX"

November 30, 2022

4.0

No qualms with the product - way better than Notion that we used for a similar use case but did not find as useful for our organisation. Great pricing and UX make for a rewarding user experience.

Pros

The UX provided by the platofrm is so seamless and easy to use that we have not seen such functionality even in an excel. We use it for colour coding, table creation and quick views that they provide that we have not seen across a host of other products in the market so far. We are aiming to continue using this product for managing tasks within teams. Their customer support is also decently responsive unlike other tools and has been helping out in selecting and launching appropriate plans.

Cons

I feel like the tool lacks the copy paste functionality and excel shortcuts and if there are similar shortucts as excel, the migration to a tool like this will be much simpler

### "Airtable is very powerful for building internal tool or back-offices, UX could be more user-friendly"

September 11, 2022

4.0

We use in several ways: - Internal ticketing system + reporting (works great) - Custom apps for our customers, synced with our own software (back-office logic is great, end-user UX is not, we should have used a third-party app builder to make it more user-friendly) - CRM extension (good for one-off analytics) - Database for some automations using Make.com (having structured data really helps) We are overall satisfied, we manage to do everything we want and integrate Airtable with our other software. We hope that Airtable Interfaces will get better, along with some improvements in formulas.

Pros

is very powerful. It makes database logic accessible to non-developer profiles. Being able to view your data in so many different ways is great. Usecases are endless.

Cons

I was disappointed by the inability to create easy-to-use apps for the final user. You can either share the entire database with them - which can be overwhelming - or cherry-pick views you want to share with them - which is impractical, especially because those views aren't editable. This makes great to build internal tools for tech-savvy teams, but in order to make it usable by other people you'll have to use a third-party app builder (Airtable will then be used as the database / back-office of your app). In addition to that, I sometimes get frustrated with some formulas, especially "datetime" formulas and recursive logic. These can become overly complicated in Airtable.

Google Sheets was not scalable. We needed structured data, and the ability to analyze it easily.

### "Airtable is a great collaborative project manager"

June 14, 2022

4.0

My team and I like because it helps us keep track of all of our clients in one central location. My initial impression was that it wouldn't really make a difference in our regular operations, but now I see how wrong I was. With Airtable, users are able to work with many data types in a grid-based environment. It also facilitates the development of cloud-based apps that are easily integrated with other infrastructure.

Pros

One of my favorite features is the ability to personalize each of my boards. Not only that, but I have the ability to work closely with my team by syncing and discussing our respective projects and making use of our shared notes. It's incredible how many wonderful things there are in the Universe. helps me plan out my monthly social media posts in advance. I'm able to keep on top of things and make timely social media posts because I plan ahead. My knowledge and experience have taught me to be more methodical and cooperative in my job.

Cons

Every once in a while, things aren't as user-friendly as they could be. Sometimes I'll make my own template, but first I'll look at tens of others to get ideas. Be patient with the procedure; it will take some time to complete. Once set up, the interface is typically straightforward.

When it comes to teamwork and organizing projects, is unparalleled. Sharing and storing information in the cloud is a breeze for collaborative teams. Accessing all of your data across several devices is a breeze. Using Airtable, you may switch between a grid view and a list view of your data.

### "Airtable est un excellent outil no-code"

November 30, 2022

5.0

Pros
