When I put together my own company I will definitely be purchasing a subscription and working directly with them. Hopefully I can get to try some other products by the company in the future. Pros I like how this is basically a more shareable version of Excel, I work as a part of a Content Marketing Team at a large e-commerce and we've really seen the difference between sending files with reports amongst ourselves via mail or chat and putting everything into Airtable and working directly from there. You have to also consider the fact that Airtable can do more as a database than Excel, allowing you to upload DOC files, PDFs, for example, rather than just plain text. Then there's the thing about different types of fields that you can use that fill themselves automatically when you create a new row. Cons The fact that it seems to me like they keep some very obvious options to the paid app. My company is a little on the cheap side, I'll admit, so they didn't purchase the whole thing. Therefore, I can't do things like coloring cells or rows, which to me seems just a little far fetched. I mean, that'a very basic function of your main competitor, which I'm guessing is Excel. Once you sort out using the basic features, the time saved upkeeping data in multiple places is invaluable. Pros Airtable has made it so easy to create live databases, forms, collate data, and share them across with custom views. We manage a large meeting with 200+ faculty that changes up to event day and Airtable has been a game-changer keeping track of live updates, combining information in different formats, looking at snapshots of aggregate data, linking/syncing forms, and more. We moved out of having multiple Excel and Google sheets saving a ton of time. It also offers lots of customization when you are in a base that allows views of just what you need. Cons There's a bit of a learning curve if you are unfamiliar with using the software and might feel confusing if you are starting from the ground up. While there are some templates, with so much capability new users may feel like they are just scratching the surface on how they can use it. Its as easy to set up a new database tool as it is to set up a spreadsheet, but much, much more versatile. Since we can set up just the data fields we need, our customer relationship database, in contrast to traditional CRM solutions like Salesforce, Hubspot and Zoho, is easy to navigate and flexibly grows with our needs. Pros More than a spreadsheet on steroids, Airtable is a cloud relational database that opens possibilities for improved productivity, creativity, sales and more for companies large and small. Because it is based on number of records, small organizations can take it for a spin for free and grow into it. Need a new feature? chances are its in the works...one of the many benefits of SAAS. I've found it's formula fields and easy uploads to be invaluable in analyzing, prospecting, collecting relationship-building data, accounting and forecasting for my new and growing business and the local chamber I volunteer for. I've connected it to blog RSS feeds, NPS scores, surveys, Google Search console, and everything else. Cons Customer support is pretty much non-existent. If you can't figure it out for yourself (99% of the time you can, it's real easy), then you're out of luck. Pros Ease of use, flexibility, API, exporting databases to JSON, integration with Make, and the ability to share databases with others. I make a change and it is done across all workspaces. Cons So far I do not have any cons about this software. I love organizing and systemizing all my content and data with Airtable. It's an essential tool for my business now. Pros I love to create tables and categorize and filter them in different ways. I keep track of my subscriptions, my emails, my sales, my finances. Cons Setting up a simple thing as summarizing a column and row is almost impossible. It took me a while to get my head around how Airtable is a database and not a spreadsheet, but I still think it's important to be able to easily sum up a row or column of numbers. Understanding the linked records was a bit complicated in the beginning. And a small thing, but I dislike the colors you can use for color-coding/labeling on the free plan. I love Airtable a whole lot. I've been able to use Airtable to reorganize the way that we keep track of things at work, in a way that makes sense to others and also makes the information more efficient. The addition of an easy-to-use relational database to the traditional spreadsheet format means I can tell my users "It's just like Excel!" when in fact it's way more powerful than Excel for establishing those relationships between things. We now track a huge number of things in Airtable that, had we used a traditional spreadsheet for, would lead to a lot of duplication of information and would leave us prone to errors. Plus, as my coworker likes to say, it's pretty. Cons The free version doesn't come with blocks or record coloring. I have both a Pro workspace and a Personal (free) workspace, and I'm always a little sad that I don't get my Pro benefits on all of my Airtables. Pros I think its very cutomizable, and what I've think theyve done a great job at is introducing people with the templates, when you get started you can almost start with things that are important to you from a variety of cases Cons I think you can do a lot of the things you do on Airtable with a lot of other platforms, and while Airtable is nice, if you are a small team you have a lot of convincing to do with showing the difference. When there are numerous employees working on a project, being able to peer over their shoulders and see updates, comments, and progress has been quite beneficial. Pros I've found this to be a valuable tool for gathering and organizing research articles/papers for use in my job, as well as for providing the ability to share this information with others as necessary. Setup and getting started are both rather simple. Cons There is a slight learning curve, but nothing that can't be overcome by asking for help or figuring it out on one's own if necessary. It's superb, mostly easy to work with and has abundance of resources to learn from. Pros \- Simplicity. You don't need to know it all before getting started. You need to know the basics and the intention to use it; the tool helps you do it all.- Automations. This is my favourite! I love how fields can be auto-updated and the integrations with other tools like Slack work.- Interfaces: Since all the data may not be helpful for everybody, I like to have different dashboards for overview/detailed view. It gives a feel of elite custom software, but it's just a simple alternate representation of the same data. Cons The new pricing plans seem overwhelming. They are complex to understand. Cons When there is a large data set, X and Y axis headers are condensed in a totally unusable way. Even if the window is expanded, the data labels are completely illegible. Is there a way to remedy this? Probably, but who has the time to find it within Airtable's bloated universe. Using forms is essential because it allows for more significant customer interaction, such as enabling them to upload images to print from my website. Cons Certainly, it is worth mentioning that the remote version or web interface of my table has numerous drawbacks in comparison to the desktop version, which is highly efficient and robust. One notable inconvenience is the difficulty in performing tasks. It would be immensely beneficial to have the option of hiding tables that are no longer in use, which would prevent them from cluttering the page as tabs at the top. It's the only spreadsheet software I really like to use. Pros I love the muliuse and multiviews of airtable. I'm in video production and it's nice to have one place where I can store everything from budgets, production calendars, gear lists, crew surveys for meals, collaborative post production workflow etc . I also use it in marketing to keep track of our our social media calendar and as a task manager. At home, I use it to manage my expenses, my freelance work, and to organize my travel. Cons I wish it had a better tutorial. While I am willing to go look for answers and explore how to make and use a base, I have a lot of coworkers that are too used to excel and similar spreadsheets that they can't grasp how to efficiently use airtable. This frustrate them and they turn back to excel or google sheets. If the tutorial was a bit more comprehensive or force a user to take a spin when they first joined airtable (possibly even gamify it to point out what people can do with it), I could see more old corporate people understanding the use of the software if it's spelled out for them. AirTable is also a great way to analyze, visualize and mobilize data, with the ability to integrate to other systems. The Blocks feature add lots of use cases, and allowed us to utilize AirTable in all departments, and even to program our products. Cons There are data restrictions on AirTable, and any of their "tables" can only hold 100,000 records at most. This presented some challenges for us since we had materially more records that needed tracking and mobilization. Also, it's not cheap.
