I love the integration with Slack because it is very useful for communication between work staff. A very easy to use tool, with many functions that help to keep all the information of the clients, as well as the information of the project, its progress and its completion, organized and centralized. Everyone in the office loves it because it is so easy to use. Pros Very easy to use this software, it works like a spreadsheet, but allows many other options for developing and accomplishing tasks and activities. I love that I can use it wherever I am because of its mobile version that adapts to any phone, Tablet, etc. Cons It has many functions and tools, which can make many confused when starting to use it. We had some problems installing it, its configuration was not so simple and it was hard to get in touch with their technical support, but in the end they gave us the help we needed. They seem to want to focus all their efforts on Enterprise level users which eliminates options for the rest of us. Pros This is a very well developed product that is easy to use and manage and store data, collaborate, and use automations to track progress on projects. Cons Price! We are a small team that works with outside contractors to collaborate. But it is unfortunate that they charge the same per seat even if they only have minimal access/permissions. Once we ran out of room in our database we had to find another solution. It was a nightmare that lasted years. Evernote held precious banking information, google had docs, diigo held bookmarks and page notes, and I was using mind map software for planning. When I had to add inventory management to my daily routines, I knew I needed a dedicated database structure and tried several on the market. After making my rounds through many, I choose Notion for its price. A few months later I realized how much more efficient airtable was for my needs and took the plunge. The upgrade was worth it. I am more productive now and getting more data organized than every before with 10 other tools. Thank you airtable. Pros Easy start. Speedy app. Flexible uses. Customizable. Scalable. Ramp it up to any size/ use. Drag and drop fields, input, and images from other sources. Constantly evolving. Strong learning resources available. Cons Pricing options. If you need just one block the only option is $20 a month. There needs to a one or two block option available at the first tier $10 a month. But now that I have to say now that I have all those blocks, I am finding new ways to use them. The thing you would compare it to would be something like Google Sheets but really it's more of something in the middle between Microsoft Access or some DB application and Google Sheets. What's amazing is just how simple it is to setup - it's hard to describe an application where everything "Just works" but AirTable is that application. Everytime I'm not sure if AirTable will work with what I'm trying to do - it just does. There are other substitues coming into the market now and I've tried them but you can't compare them to AirTable and its breadth of integrations/apps and even its own scripting language. What's great about AirTable is that it's so easy to start using but has a very high degree of flexibility where you can pretty much do anything you want to do with it. I use it for pretty much everything - both for personal use, habit tracking, daily planning and calendar allocation, project management, CRM. Basically anytime I have data that needs tobe inputted and tracked/modified in some way AirTable always pulls through for me. The color coding and automatic forms/interface options make this something that will grow with me as I continue to grow my business. Pros I love the ability to populate my own project tracking spreadsheet with a form that has all of the on-boarding data I need. From there, I have custom interfaces that allow me to track metrics and tags like NEVER before. I feel like I've been searching for this solution for years and finally found it. The free version is perfect for what I need and I'm thrilled. Cons There is a slight learning curve since the customization options are so detailed. It took me some time to understand how to use Airtable for my business on a useful level. Most large, out-of-the-box systems built to help with project management are too rigid to be used effectively with small or unique teams structures. This eliminates that problem and let's you build exactly what you need from the ground up. Pros It is so malleable that I can do almost everything with it. I used to spend every single day trying to make static spreadsheets do what I needed, and instead, I now can build full, robust databases complete with team interaction and approvals. The Airtable team takes great care to make all updates meaningful for their users and are great at communicating updates as they come out. Cons If you don't have a mind for if-then-or-that or boolean logic, it can be a little difficult to work up to using this product to its full potential. Pros I love that there is a basic subscription package that’s free. Giving you ample time to completely test out its feasibility with your intended use case at your own pace before having to make a decision on whether or not to upgrade to one of the paid packages for more advanced features. When it comes to features, I love most of all is grid style view — which is extremely user friendly and highly intuitive. Cons The paid subscription packages with advanced feature offerings should have more options suitable for smaller non-enterprise businesses. It's been easy to learn and customize. It's also been easy to teach others at our institution how to work with Airtable as a collaborative tool, or for their own projects. Airtable has become a necessity in our operations. We use it to track all sorts of data and activities. For example, we use it for an end-user trouble-report form that sends notifications to Slack. It's proven great for us to track inventories, log events, and monitor basic projects. Pros Airtable is incredibly versatile and easy-to-use. It offers the advantages of a relational database, without the need for coding and consultants. Multiple custom views of data (with flexible filters and sorts) add to Airtable's flexibility to meet a variety of needs. Sharing of views is easy, making Airtable the perfect tool for all sorts of collaborative activities. Our cloud-based data seamlessly updates to all sorts of devices. Integration with services such as Slack is also seamless. Cons A few pro-level features are very useful, but quite expensive to implement on a team level. Blocks features haven't proven to be as robust as we'd like to see. The simple pro-level upgrade to the online form feature (adding images and completion link), is very useful. Cons Editing Row is not clearly distinguishable from Non-Editing Rows. Cons If you do not subscribe to a premium plan and want to standardize data between two databases, there is no button that will do so. That button is extremely difficult to locate. The system's capacity to keep tabs on assignments and initiatives are among my favourite features. It would be ideal as my go-to tool for managing work projects if it were FERPA compliant. Pros It is quite simple to monitor, from a visual standpoint, the movement of deals through the pipelines. Cons Lack of third-party integration diminished its effectiveness.The inability to make user-friendly applications was a major letdown for me. You may either give them access to the whole database, which can be intimidating, or you can pick and choose which views to give them access to, which is inconvenient since the views won't be changeable. Airtable is wonderful for developing in-house solutions for tech-savvy teams, but if you want it to be accessible to a wider audience, you'll need to use a third-party app builder (in which case, Airtable would serve as the app's database or back-office). Also, "datetime" formulae and recursive reasoning can really grate on my nerves. Airtable's capabilities for this kind of thing have the potential to become overwhelming. Review Source TH Tim H. May 28, 2019 5.0 I keep track of tons of things for my business on Airtable: Orders log (with order profitability for each order), purchase order # generator and log, Parts Inventory and re-order, tax documents (uploaded0 and a lot more. I come up with new uses every once in a while. Airtable is a reasonably priced swiss-army knife for my business information. Pros \-It is super easy to set up. It looks like a spreadsheet--and you can use it that way, but its much more powerful (and simple for some things) -It shares data very well for my small group. I can actually see someone typing in characters when they are making changes to a \*base\* that I'm using. -Data can be displayed in many ways: Grid, Form, Calendar, Kanban, Gant. -Data can be manipulated, sorted and filtered in almost any way. You can save your "views". This is far easier to do here than in Excel. -I often import huge spreadsheets to sort, filter and separate data to make more understandable reports. Cons There are a couple of improvement that would make sense: -When you add a new record in a base the sheet does not autorefresh and sort. You have to manually go to the menu and sort to get everything in the right order. -The formatting for printing grid reports could be improved. They look great on the screen, but not quite as nice on paper.
