I think that as app integrations continue to happen, it may be a one-stop solution rather than using multiple applications. Pros I've used AirTable for a few jobs now and appreciate how easy it is to use across devices. Collaboration is also a breeze. I can easily see when a task is designed, the updates on it, comments, and other important notes. Cons AirTable sometimes feels a bit crowded to me, with the ability to have multiple tabs, line items, and notes on both the left and right side. I wish it were a little more simplified. I've worked in the non-profit field for the better part of 15 years. Mostly for small organizations with tight budgets. We are constantly looking for ways to manage information for grants, donors, program data, you name it. With limited staff and budgets, we're pretty much relegated to Google Sheets or Excell. CRM's like Salesforce and DonorPerfect are nice, but complicated and expensive for a small organization. Then came Airtable.... Airtable is incredibly simple to set up. In two evenings of work, I set up a base that will manage a project involving 8 different NGO's operating in 5 geographic regions to engage over 500 community groups. I shared the base with our team and they were able to pick up how to use it in about a week. We've been using Airtable now for about 6 months and people LOVE it. The way it allows you to filter and view data is simply amazing and a game changer. I couldn't even begin to calculate how much easier my and our teams' lives are using this tool for our project. What's great, is the other NGO's involved are starting to adopt Airtable for other work within their own organization. I HIGHLY recommend this product. The future of spreadsheets is here, and it's name is Airtable! Cons Honestly, there is not much I don't like about this product. The one flag I do have is that when it comes to budgets, Excel and Google sheets probably do have Airtable beat. Other than that, my experience has been nothing but positive thus far. Pros I have had the opportunity to use Airtable on multiple video production teams, and it has made project/production coordination a breeze. The ability to track tasks and statuses and to have different views into project details has been incredibly helpful in keeping us on point and on budget. It is also very useful for reviewing project efficiency and profitability after the work is complete. With airtables you can have automations for communication quicker. You can easily business inventories. Cons Since is is a new software, navigating around it, can be difficult. Pros We use airtable for products descriptions and what I really like is the pop feature where you don't need to scroll down to get to next item you want to check because of the long description the first product has. Pros This is a great tool to keep track of any kinds of logs, even accounting if you would, the greatest part of it is how easy it is to use and how you can do multi-platform integrations to make it your database master software. I love the low price-point and the amazing customer service they have, by far one f the most powerful low-cost database/spreadsheet tool out there. Cons Not really a con, but I would like to point out for those who use a lot of formula-based fields, the coding/formula platform on Airtable is not really the best, it is a little clunky and you really cannot get as much out of it as in some cases you would expect, but it is reasonably good nonetheless. Once everything is set up, it's easy to stay organized, keep track of projects, and communicate with the rest of the team. Pros It's very easy to keep track of my projects and communicate with other stakeholders all within the same platform. There's a lot of helpful customization you can do within project cards. For example, we put opportunity briefs within the project card rather than having to link to an external Google doc. In other words, you can put everything you need in the same place. Cons I remember being very confused at the beginning with AirTable. It operates sort of like an Excel Spreadsheet and all those codes and formulas certainly overwhelm. Thankfully I had a Project Manager set everything up. Without her, it would have been a headache to set everything up from scratch. Also, the mobile app isn't great. It's one Gumby of a tool - able to bend to my will and limited (mostly) only by my imagination. It's hard to understand the power of relational databases until you've used one. Think of it as multiple Excel Spreadsheets that can talk to each other. The problem in the past has been how HARD it is to build and maintain a relational database. I've likely lost a month of my life to Microsoft Access frustrations. Airtable is just SO much easier and more enjoyable to use. It's not just a better database tool for database users. It's a database that can be used by someone who never thought she'd use a database. Pros I've organized a lot of stuff on Airtable and it's a joy to use. The software has a 'wow' factor that's some magic combination of great design and powerful tech. Once I tried Airtable I started thinking "hey - maybe I could make a database for THIS too!". I was actually having FUN making databases. How is that possible? Cons At some point, I'll reach my limit of 1000 records on the free Airtable plan. I don't look forward to that day. There are many cool integrations and blocks that exist on Airtable's paid tiers, but there are only so many subscriptions one man can afford. It came prancing into my life like a dream. Rainbows and all. It is colorful, simple, sleek, customization, free, and a software you could only dream of existing. It is more than the mythical unicorn, it is the Cadillac unicorn that you pimped out with exactly what you want; no BS. Pros Free, free, freeeeeeeeeeee In the world of subscription based EVERYTHING it is nice to have a software I can utilize free of charge! There is a LOT MORE to it if you pay the incredibly low monthly fee, but it is a highly valuable software without it! Let me put it this way, it is simple enough that ANYBODY can use it. I set up the bases (super easy) and my other family members fill them in. We are a small family business, so the ease of use, and cost effectiveness are crucial. It is so customizeable it is ridiculous. It will not replace Excel by any means, but is a strong force in our arsenal of programs that is for sure. Cons Absolutely nothing! While it's not cheap, we definitely see the value in Airtable. While Google Sheets is useful, it simply does not match the tools provided by Airtable—from blocks, to conditionals, to the customizability of the interface. This one tool provides unlimited possibilities and enables our team to efficiently carry out asks without having to use a dozen different tools. Cons Airtable's free plans are understandably restrictive, but provide all the basic tools. While we were using the free plan, I disliked how many of their own templates required paid plans to use certain features. It works really well when you are working on multiple client workspaces simultaneously. You can have live links in your templates which makes it easier to work on the same thing together as a group. You can easily choose different combinations of components for different needs such as for asset management or for mapping out social media posts. The makes Airtable a very good choice to create a flexible database. Different people on the same team can choose to read the same data in their own preferred view. Cons The user interface is very well designed but you will need a bit of a learning curve over time to get hold of all the various features of Airtable to make the best use of it. A lot of desktop features like sorting do not work as well on mobile as on desktop. My team mainly uses it for campaign/ marketing management -- documenting our editorial calendar for the year. But after leadership saw how successfully we made use of the product, they brought it on for all teams to use in myriad ways: virtual event management, meeting agendas, yearly task audits, etc, etc. It's incredibly easy to use, intuitive, and flexible. Could not recommend more. Cons There are additional flexibilities that would make life easier: the ability to connect bases and tables, the ability for content to automatically update across connected sheets, a better way to assign tasks across team members. I also think there's more potential to unlock with automations.
