We've been using this system for years after an accountant switch and if I could convince the boss to switch to something else, I would.

Pros

It is easy enough to set up and use and is pretty straightforward. There isn't a steep learning curve.

Cons

The quirks are annoying after a while though. It times you out even while on the screen working and sometimes you aren't even notified that you are about to time out and if haven't been given that message and press send invoice, it doesn't save any of your work and you have to start over. That's extremely frustrating. Biggest peeve however, is it adds or subtracts a penny between your subtotal and total without rhyme or reason randomly. Not every invoice but every weekly invoicing batch has more than one invoice that is off a penny in either direction.

### "Bad to start, and even worse to finish. 2024 review."

We signed up with PaySimple as a new business in 2024 based on the recommendation of someone who used them years ago. At some point they were acquired by Private Equity and it seems their business model has changed quite a bit. We established them as our payment processor before we had customers, and right away noticed fees from them, and three vendors that were affiliated with them started sending us fees as well. We replied to those notices asking for line items, invoice, something associated with the fees to understand how to categorize and/or appropriateness. After four (4) unanswered emails over the month, we put a charge dispute in with the bank and immediately received notice that our service was disabled. We received no reply to our questions about that notice, so we sent a request to cancel the service. Within hours of our request to cancel service, PaySimple withdrew $79.95 from our account that was meant to receive customer payments. So it's clear they were receiving the messages. We also started receiving requests for payment from their vendor/partner (it's unclear) named PaySafe who threatened to send us to collections despite acknowledging that we've received no services from them. At least they reply to emails. At this point, we've sent multiple unanswered notices asking about fees, formally cancelling the service, and still we've never received an invoice, only continual withdrawals from a bank account until we closed it. Sadly, this is the state of affairs when larger companies acquire a bunch of smaller ones and bundle them together with services as a way to charge multiple fees from multiple vendors. I'm sure the customer service department was eliminated all together and my emails are sitting in an unread Inbox along with many others. Please note that the positive reviews on here are several years old, when they were probably under other ownership.

Pros

Their name is catchy, but a misnomer. The "Simple" is probably a holdover since before they were bought.

Cons

The biggest issue is their customer service. It's complete unresponsive to emails, there are no chat options, and the phone tree is...well, a phone tree. As others have mentioned, the pricing is higher than similar services, and not transparent. The fees include a $79 cancellation fee if you don't like their services, a monthly fee whether or not you have any transactions, and these are on top of the fees for each payment they process. Also, PaySimple seems to just be a group of vendors. You will receive fees and notices from vendors that do not share their name without understanding that they are part of the group.

### "Paysimple ACH limitations - Good Customer Service"

This questionnaire in itself is a bit misleading. Doesn't ask the appropriate questions or cover most of the products or services that pay simple actually offers. Background to my complaint: My company sells supports and services point of sale systems for restaurants in the hospitality segment. Our equipment is not cheap one entire system can easily run from 10 to $25,000. The computers that we sell are $2000 each. The maximum amount of ACH debit I'm allowed per transaction is only $1500. We are required to run multiple ACH transactions for one sale, for each customer who exceeds the $1500 threshold. This is an extreme embarrassment. Complaint: My major point of contention with Paysimple, when we signed up with them; the sales Rep said after six-months are account can be reviewed for any risk factors and at that time the Per transaction limit of $1500 would be Increased or removed altogether. Obviously, this is very embarrassing to explain to a customer when you have to run multiple ACH transactions when they purchase a $3200 piece of equipment from you. “What kind of Kitty clown show are you running over there Mr. Mills?” The sad answer I gave him was “The vendor I use has limitations.” I have personally called back to Paysimple on different occasions asking for an increase or review of my account, what they want to see is my books. They're not getting my books. They have no business in my accounting.

Pros

We only use the ACH Product. We like using the ACH product very much. Setting up recurring in ACH accounts is very easy. Managing, suspending or terminating recurring a ACH accounts is also very easy. Paysimple has a very good and accurate reporting system if you know how to use it. Personally, I don't use it too often, it's was a bit confusing at first, but I was able to find my way around. Then I called support and received some guidance.

Cons

Paysimple added an online "store" / tool / program/ app. I did not request it, yet I'm forced to pay $49 (ish) monthly for this. We get my ACH bill early in the month and latter in the month we get billed again for this online store product. Mind, you, the store product is actually pretty nice. I'm being emotional and feel as if this was slid under the front door when I was not looking.

Reason for choosing PaySimple

Paysimple's people are very friendly and easy to work with. We chose Paysimple due to their online interface and reporting capabilities. The user interface is very nice looking. More importantly, it's accurate. The reporting tool is also phenomenal. Over the years Paysimple has invested in themselves and their online software interface. I need the flexibility to run the business without hassle or undo encumbrance. We understand the risk factors involved with having an ACH account, in reality you have somebody's checkbook in your own hand. A high degree of honor, ethics and responsibility are very important. I do like Paysimple. I like the interface; I just don't like the limitations they put on us. I want to stress, all of the people I've talked or worked with over the years at Paysimple are very friendly and polite.

From customer service to our assigned customer success manager, the team is available to assist. Chat support is also available inside the gateway. They have gone above and beyond to help us with our business.

Pros

The robust features, ease of implementation, beautiful GUI layout that is easy to use and navigate. There is nothing that we need for our business, our team, and our clients that PaySimple does not accommodate.

Cons

There are still some disconnects between the contact record details and transaction records that are still coming together that would make certain customized reporting even easier.

### "Our Experience with PaySimple"

Overall fairly good. Lack of communication & transparency from our initial setup call to where we are now. We were never informed (or at least explicitly) that Forte would process the payments so this added some confusion. Also lack of clarity around our monthly limits (individual & collective) -- we found out in the middle of a month that we had reached our limit & had many mortgage payments pending.

Pros

Customer service is what has kept us using PaySimple. Every person that I have spoken to has gone above and beyond to help out with any issues that we have had. The platform is relatively easy to use. I like the custom invoices & receipts that are sent to clients.

Cons

Launching & integrating PaySimple has been MAJOR for us as online payments are so important in our industry and help to prevent any delays in the process as well as providing convenience to our clients. We had two issues with collecting online payments: First, we were unable to limit our ability to accept credit card payments for only one product. We are unable to accept credit cards for a mortgage payment; whereas we can accept credit card payment for appraisal, we had to turn the ability to use a CC off for any catalog product and create a form specific for appraisals. The ability to accept credit cards was all or nothing - for all products or none. The second problem we encountered was the system's inability to accept American Express. When we turned on the feature to be able to accept credit card payments, we were uninformed that this excluded American Express. It wasn't until we had a client attempt to make a payment 10 times using an AMEX card that we realized. Another issue that I have with this software is the confusion & lack of flexibility regarding user roles. As mentioned above, we use PaySimple to collect mortgage payments and appraisals. The department who collects each payment is different. The user who collects mortgage payments is an admin & I want her to receive all emails - however the users who send out the form to collect appraisals don't need to know about mortgage payments. I had to set them to Sales but they don't get email of payment made.

This is easy to use and set up. I manually enter the information from PaySimple into our Customer tracking software, and our accounting software, but it is easy to use.

Cons

I would like for them to adjust the software to be able to differentiate between credit and debit cards so that we don't have any possible legal issues due to the differences between credit and debit cards.

The product is easy to use, customizable and the customer service is there when I need them.

Pros

All businesses need an easy way to bill their customers. My business requires it monthly for every customer to generate the recurring revenue that my company depends on. PaySimple offers an easy way to do this and I can rest easy knowing that on the 3rd day of the month, the funds hit my bank account.

Cons

I would like a way to place monthly recurring billing on invoices with multiple products sold to an individual account.

I am just so used to making online transactions and it has never failed me for once.

Pros

I love being able to track all payments made and also make graphical comparison on my duration of payment on a monthly basis. Its a user friendly app which is very easy to understand.

Cons

The customer service is not encouraging in any way. You can hardly ever speak to a customer with the paging service.

Was great ... until this Covid Crisis. I now need to really watch every penny.

Cons

I do not like the $50 charges per month duding Covid when my company is on the edge of failure. I do not like the inability to change my address. I will soon be looking for a service that does NOT charge $50 per month!

Quick and helpful instructions were provided during the configuration procedure. The increased traffic has supported our marketing efforts towards our website since we started accepting online payments from our clients.

Cons

Unfortunately, we couldn't limit credit card purchases to just one item. Credit card payments are accepted for appraisals but not mortgages.

I've been using PaySimple for 6 years now. It's easy to use. Makes billing effortless. I will be a long time customer.

Pros

I don't have to pay somebody to do billing for me each month. I spend about an hour each month updating new accounts and im done. So payments come out automatically.

Cons

I really wish there was an estimate creating option. There is an invoicing option. But because I have to create an estimate first, I currently use a different software for my estimates. That software converts over to invoices. I would consider letting the customer pay through paysimple platform is I was using it in this fashion.

We had some initial issues with the product and support, however, I think we have worked most of the issues out. Overall positive experience.

Pros

The simple and efficient portal and checkout options. The invoice builder is a little difficult to navigate, but overall it’s fairly easy to process the invoices/payments needed.

Cons

The support portal isn’t the best and the UX could be improved. We also had some initial issues with the support team pushing back on a banking issue. While this was not a great first impression, we have had an overall positive experience. I also am not a fan of the extensive information needed to raise the daily and monthly processing limits. Not sure if this is regulation, however, it seems excessive.

It was the overall most cost-effective and had the options that were important to us.

Pros

When our company first started up we quickly gained a lot of financed customers of which we were manually processing payments every month. This got old quick and we worried that payments would be missed. Paysimple was the answer to our problems and we couldn't be happier with the service!!

Cons

Paysimple has everything. There are a lot of features we have not used yet but the main purpose for which we purchased the service (recurring billing) is the number one feature for us and it works great every month we don't have to worry about payments.

Customer service is very friendly and helpful, but sometimes the things I need to change are complicated/confusing and time consuming requiring multiple forms not able to complete online (change of address, limit increase requests etc). Other similar things that are convoluted--In a current situation with a customer who made a chargeback due to not recognizing our business name, and he is confused by steps required to get us non-restricted, and it's been a huge time suck for all parties, and no sign of ending.

Pros

Reliable, consistent and easy to use product --lots of options for customizing for your needs.

Cons

I did not like how it integrated with Quickbooks Online, and gave up on that after a few weeks--it was faster and more accurate for me to do on my own (trouble matching customers etc).

Overall, from set-up to going live with PaySimple, we have been very pleased with the ease of use for both our company and our customers.

Pros

The set-up process was very easy and supportive. Allowing our customers to pay online through our website has brought more traffic to our site which helps with our marketing attempts.

Cons

Nothing comes to mind at this time. There isn't anything negative I can share.

Pros

It is easy to use and customize. Also \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] is great. He has been really helpful in helping me learn the program and utilize it more fully.

Cons

There was an issue this past week with billing schedules not running as they should have. This disrupted payment plans that need to stay on schedule

Pros

The product allowed us to launch a subscription program with little development and within weeks as 90% of the required functionality was out of the box.

I wish there was more options to customize features based on user’s preferences. I wish custom fields could be edited after they are entered.

I’ve used this service for many years. Requested better reports and reporting for all of them. It’s never been done. I have to use quickbooks in tandem as a result.

Pros

It’s easy to use. Repeating payments are easy to setup and process.

Cons

It has terrible reporting. The dashboard isn’t configurable and would be great for reports, but there is no way to edit it.
