Pros

We use Ciphr for both our payroll and benefits services after they recently acquired Avantus. The team at Ciphr are nothing but helpful and supportive, no matter the query and they are incredibly responsive.

Cons

I don't have any negative comments! Which just proves their level of service. We've used them as long as I've been in post for payroll.

### "Adoption of Ciphr by Southern Hospice Group"

SHG had very challenging timescales in which to implement the HR system and Ciphr were willing to work with us to help us achieve that goal. Ciphr have been easy to work with and the support and guidance through implementation has generally been very good.

Pros

Ciphr is generally easy to use and employee satisfaction for self-service features is high. We have found Ciphr to be flexible both from a system configuration perspective and the willingness of the team (consultants, technical support) to assist and help provide solutions to issues.

Cons

There are a few areas which are either not well integrated, easy to use or well featured as we would like. In particular, Paylink configuration is complex, holiday entitlements are laborious to set up and Timesheet functionality is limited.

### "CIPHR Payroll"

We have recently implemented Ciphr Payroll and the experience was made seamless thanks to the outstanding support from the team, in particular \[sensitive content hidden\] From day one, they guided us through the setup process, patiently answering all our questions and ensuring everything was configured perfectly for what is a very complex payroll. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and deep knowledge of the software made the transition smooth and stress-free. They went above and beyond to ensure our team was comfortable with every feature, and their hands-on approach truly made a difference. Even though we are in the early stages of implementation, I would highly recommend Ciphr to any business looking to modernise their payroll operations, especially their support team—they are 1 of the reasons our implementation was such a success!

Pros

Ciphr Payroll - importing timesheets is quick, efficient and accurate. The system is user-friendly and processing is faster overall thanks to HR integration.

Cons

Ciphr Payroll - The reporting side seems complicated, likely due to limited training following the recent implementation. This would have been a useful exercise to cover during the implementation period. We have avoided the rollback process as it feels long-winded and it is not possible to switch to the next person when in query mode.

### "Inspired feedback for CIPHR"

our experience with CIPHR has been positive. Tickte items are managed in a timely fashion and the support team is extremely helpful.

Pros

Direct contact with a knowledgeable, supportive CSM team. \[sensitive content hidden\] have initiated regular check ins to check on service and provide updates.

Cons

The switch to v10 took a little getting used to. Onboarding needed a lot of updating and business priorities meant this was out of action for some time.

Good - better couple of years ago when people on helpline with support. We do find it frustrating as a system and the onboarding portal was a nightmare - took nearly a year to get it runnning

Pros

Got use to the system now so we know our way around it. The new layout works well loving the new 'Ask' button

Cons

Inaccessible for people with disabilities; can be quite a clunky system and not logical at times. Work to do.

### "Customer Support really good!"

I have mainly used Ciphr support for iRecruit issues, and a few My Trust issues. The experience has always been positive and the people in the support team are reactive and very helpful.

Pros

When it comes to iRecruit, Hassan is a godsend, and is always able to understand our requests and action those that he can help with very quickly. He has also advised us when some of our suggestions have been put to the development team, which is helpful. He includes screenshots and clear information, to help us understand and guides us when there are things we can resolve for ourselves.

Cons

Having to put in a service ticket rather than being able to pick the phone up quickly (especially when something is super urgent and potentially a very quick resolution) - it's not made easy to get through to a person quickly.

This has been a game changer for us ! It is like having a super organised HR Assistant that never takes any breaks :) Everything is clear, easy and our employees are loving it too and have said how fabulous it is ! It has certainly made HR at ATPI fresh again.

Pros

I really like how user friendly CIPHR is. It has made our processes so much quicker and easier. Everything feels streamlined and accessible, which makes a huge difference day to day.

Cons

There is not much to dislike about CIPHR. It was very overwhelming at first but once you have the fabulous support from the PM and the consultants, it is smooth sailing.

Overall experience of working with CIPHR is very positive and is continually improving. The customer success manager and account manager provide tailored advise and support.

Pros

The CIPHR HR self-service is user-friendly and quite convenient to navigate to different sections. The system is continually improving and lots of positive changes have been incorporated in the new user interface launched in 2025 including user guides and self-help sections.

Cons

Some slight delays while responding to helpdesk tickets. There are some integration links missing within different modules and some features need improvement.

Pros

The Customer Care team are always very supportive and timely in their response. Their new interface roll-out in 2025-26 was smooth and efficient, and we continue to appreciate their guidance articles which empowers the user to self-solve and learn rather than be dependent on the Ciphr team.

Cons

Understanding the different Ciphr service packages and value for money is an interesting conversation in a charity context but nothing negative.

Overall a great experience so far from discovery through to procurement and implementation. We can't wait to go live

Pros

We are currently in the process of implementing Ciphr HR and Payroll into our organisation. The procurement process was very smooth and one of the biggest highlights was the approach of the Sales Consultant who gave us confidence in the system through their honest feedback. So far, the implementation has gone smoothly and there have been no surprises. The system appears intuitive and good value for money and we are confident that it will transform the way we work.

Cons

The new Ciphr Payroll module is still being developed so there are a few limitations. However, rapid work appears to be being done which will mean most of the limitations will be resolved before we go live.

User-friendly interface and ease of navigation, new reporting / analytics. Reliable and improved customer support service and knowledgeable workforce with regular updates and improved communications. Many years as a customer working with CipHR.

Pros

We use the system for our employee data/information and payroll which works really well. Customer support. CipHR academy. HR tools all in one place. New user friendly interface. Employee self service. Performance insights with new analytics tool.

Cons

Some of the features which have now been rectified in the new update such as time out and having to click into data numerous times to reach the correct area of system. Also reporting can be time consuming in excel.

Generally positive, some concerns over customer service and the skillset of their frontline teams however very reassured that this is something that is being actively improved, with a clear shift towards a more enhanced customer experience.

Pros

It is incredibly versatile in the way that it can be configured. There is some ability to re-purpose fields and pages to be used in a way that suits the business. It was a good solution for a mid-size UK business, a lot of other providers were either used to smaller sub 100 companies or 1000+ companies

Cons

The order of implementation of the modules seemed really counter-intuitive and caused a lot of additional work. Ultimately the Notifications module (workflow emails etc) was a separate module that was configured at the end of the project. We started with a few modules and then gradually added functionality so this meant we had to wait a fair amount of time with some modules launched, before we could add notifications. As a result we had to do a lot of manual emails at the start before we could rely on the automated system generated ones.

Cons

Once a holiday request is submitted by the user, it cannot be amended - even while still waiting for approval.

Definitely allows us to provide more detailed management information but has not taken away a lot of the time consuming admin burden due the cost issues around all the additional modules. We found the initial training and implementation rushed and not overly user friendly. If this is your first HR Management system ensure you do your research very thoroughly.

Pros

From the sales talk everything looked perfect. It was only when it came to the post implementation stage that we realised what wasn't included or was an additional cost. This has limited our use of the system. Help desk are generally good and supportive although a little slow on responding with a final solution.

Cons

The costs as everything seems to be an additional module with an extra cost. Not a great experience with 2 different account managers

I was employed by a client to review and better use out of their CipHR system (amongst many other things). Working with the CipHR team, we moved from using only the most basic aspects to almost full functionality within 10 months. There was a significant impact on the business with reduced HR costs, greater HR face time, reduced manager system usage time and reduced error rates. I could not have done it without the tireless team at CipHR supporting me all the way.

Pros

Great, intuitive product with outstanding support.

Cons

Although all feedback I gave CipHR was acted upon, there was at times a little too much reliance on personal relationships between the support team and client (my team).

Implementation was methodical, comprehensive and well supported. Spend time ensuring your data for migration is accurate and comprehensive as this will save time later. Good data in = good data out!

Pros

The product is easy to use, with plenty of available training. Ongoing support is good and readily available via either phone, email, or support portal.

Cons

Whilst it can deal with multiple roles for an employee, it didn't quite meet up to our expectations. We would have benefited from clearer information from the outset regarding its capabilities/functioning in this respect.

Pros

CIPHR are great & offer easy access support via an online helpdesk & a phone line. During the set up process we also had several sessions with our own consultant ensuring we had the system working the way we wanted it to. The product is great - we have been able to adapt fields to hold pertinent data & the reporting functions are great. Self service section is easy even for non computer users.

Cons

You need a different user name & password for every different CIPHR product unless you pay extra for another level of security that logs you into all at once. Be prepared to have a list!

Nice. But expensive and slow.

Pros

End users lover it. Browser based, cloud based. Access on or off site. Access on mobile devices. Very easy to use.

Cons

Slow. HR have to access via a remote desktop connection to a CIPHR data centre machine which runs very slowly. You have to wait for screens to refresh. Think modem days! :)

Cons

The creation of your own reports - it is not always easy to understand where to find the inforamtion you wish to extract from the system which can slow you down however the support line is only a phone call away and they are always very helpful.

System - easy to use and if you are a busy HR team like most and need something that is out of the box but customisable when you need it to be then this is the system to use. Vendor - Fantastic support from the Tech Support team but also from our Account Manager, no problem is too big or small and always resolve the issue within 24 hrs

Cons

Reporting can be complicated if you aren't an Excel whizz however training is provided to help make it less painful.

I worked using this system for 7 years, it adapted through varies business changes, improvements and specific tailored needs. Customer service was always a call away and very helpful. I also worked on specific projects to adapt our requirements with the project team at CIP and various Consultants.

Cons

Costs, business are always looking for savings.
