### "Stack Review for Demolition in Construction"

May 15, 2026

5.0

I've implemented Stack at 2 construction companies now. One of them as an MEP sub and one as a demolition sub. It's worked great for both if you know how to build it.

Pros

User interface and flexibility for building estimates. Excel formula functionality makes it easy to build take-offs. We're beginning to explore linking Stack with Sage Intacct for accounting which is a great feature if it works as described. Customer support is always quick and responsive.

Cons

The servers sometimes have issues causing lag. There have been a lot of changes to the UI recently which causes a minor learning curve for each patch, but overall, it's not a big deal.

### "Not a fan."

October 27, 2025

1.0

I've been working with this software for three + weeks and have yet to complete an estimate. I am very frustrated.

Pros

Cloud basing makes protecting data easy and safe. Updates and improvements seem to be automatic so there is no need to install anything.

Cons

Importing material prices is VERY cumbersome. You have to manually import prices which is time consuming. Every item has to be manually entered and often the user has to convert vendor pricing to user pricing, again very time consuming.

### "We Love Stack!"

May 15, 2026

5.0

We've been using stack for over 5 years now, and I can't see that changing anytime soon. We've had minimal issues with the service, the customer support has always been top-notch, and the platform is great.

Pros

I love that you can access a job from anywhere thanks to Stack's cloud storage service. I can easily create an estimate from the office, home, or in the air. It's also extremely easy to use and get started with.

Cons

I wish Stack offered some multi-year discounts that didn't require an upfront payment. From an actual performance side, however, there's nothing to complain about.

Great! Would recommend. I started with another company for takeoffs but since making the switch I can’t say that I am disappointed. Stack has been great tool for our projects.

Pros

User Friendly, keeps all of my takeoffs that I complete in order and organized. Can leave off and pick up right at the same spot. No confusion.

Cons

Not many issues I’ve had for takeoffs. I work mainly with Civil plans. I like the idea of an AI feature but for civil the plans can get pretty messy.

### "Honest Stack Review"

May 15, 2026

5.0

It has been great! Cross referencing in this program is great and really helps streamline our quoting.

Pros

The value of the product vs cost is great, I had an employee move over from another service and has been amazing at how smooth stack is. Customer service is amazing

Cons

I would honestly say the lack of AI support for underground utilities projects and waterworks. I understand its hard with how many things arent called out for but it would be nice to have something more there.

### "OK Service"

May 15, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with STACK has been very positive from a functional standpoint. The core takeoff tools are intuitive, fast, and highly reliable, which has streamlined our estimation workflow. However, the experience is held back by the pricing model. While the software itself works great, the annual price increases for added features we don’t use makes it feel less cost-effective over time. If they offered more flexible, tiered pricing, it would be a perfect solution

Pros

What I like most about STACK is how intuitive and user-friendly the basic takeoff tools are. Cloud-based scaling, auto-count features, and the ease of measuring areas and linear items make the initial estimation process incredibly fast. It dramatically cuts down the time it takes to get an accurate takeoff together, allowing us to bid on more projects

Cons

The pricing structure feels rigid. Every year, new features are introduced and the subscription cost goes up, but our team only utilizes the basic takeoff tools. We end up paying a premium for a bloated feature set that we don't actually need. I’d love to see user-specific or tiered pricing so we aren't forced to pay for upgrades that don't add value to our specific workflow

### "Great but room to improve"

May 15, 2026

4.0

It’s a great solution when you wrap your head around it’s sometimes confusing software layout and somewhat complicated formula system. It’s powerful but not always user friendly or intuitive.

Pros

Modern cloud based software that runs smoothly and doesn’t require a local organization and links to plan files. Powerful flexibility with the use of custom assemblies and formulas if you have the knowledge to create them. Customer support is responsive.

Cons

While the formulas and assemblies allow for great flexibility. There’s also cases where the system forces you to use them to make up for lacking features. Estimates currently only allow pricing directly from 1 measurement type. For instance a volume measurement will only bring cubic yards into the estimate by default. For example if I want to take off a concrete slab. If I use volume 2D type measurement, I’m able to takeoff a polygon area and set the thickness. When I go to estimates I only have the option to price via CY. I would have to utilize formulas and items to pull the SF and price from that. I should just have an option to select the measurements directly from the take off. Vice versa if I use the area take off, now I have SF in the estimate but if I wanted to also have my material volume I need to utilize formulas and items. It’s such an unnecessary pain and it practically ruins the program. Every other estimating program has this flexibility and a have requested this feature time and time again only to be ignored.

### "Mostly Satisfied"

May 15, 2026

4.0

Overall I like stack and think it is a really good program for getting a good take off. The only frustrations I have is when things change and I have to figure out where the tools I need are.

Pros

That it has assemblies that can calculate my material for me. I also like all the different tools that are included to make everything clear to anyone who looks at my take off.

Cons

It changes a lot and sometimes it is hard to figure out how to use or shut off the changes. I know there are usually tutorials, but sometimes I don't have time if it is busy.

### "Commercial Construction Estimator"

May 15, 2026

5.0

Overall I like it. This is our go to software for plan reviewing and take-offs. I have tried others and STACK seems more user friendly.

Pros

The ease of use, the accessibility I like that it is web based instead of a software on your PC which typically slows your computer down. I use it for estimating take-offs and love it.

Cons

This is hard to think about because I really like STACK. I guess cost. Perhaps the AI usage could get better. But it might be because I have not used the AI capability very much.

### "Stack Review"

May 15, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with STACK has been very positive, it is much better and easier to use than my previous software. And the all the support staff that I have delt with have been very quick to respond and help

Pros

I like how easy it is to switch between different takeoff items, and always see the items I've already measured or counted on the side of my screen.

Cons

I don't like how I cant use the products that are in my personal stack library to select the titles or names of the takeoff's I create. You can only add the product in the takeoff, but you still have to manually type the product every time.

### "Pricing and poor ethics "

October 22, 2025

1.0

Our team had an overall positive experience while using the product; however, when the renewal came around this year (nearly $7,000) they auto drafted for the entire year. I reached out because we have transitioned to a new CRM and will not be using their platform, I requested a refund but they refused. We’ve even reached out to the manager who hasn’t responded. I think it’s really crappy to take that amount of money from a small business knowing they’re not going to use the system. I understand there is a contract verbiage to notify 30 days in advance (which I failed to do) but to charge us fully for the entire year is unreasonable in my opinion. For that reason I wouldn’t recommend them.

Pros

Accuracy with measurements was always on point, easy to upload plans, lots of options for all trades

Cons

Cost and Poor Management and Support. Even after reaching out multiple times for assistance we have gotten nowhere. Not much integrity at this company.

This is the first estimating career I have had so there have been a large learning curve. I feel like the Stack software made the transition for learn how to properly estimate much easier than if I started without it

Pros

The is software intuitive and they are always listing and trying to make it better. Being able to customize your library the way that you see fit for your industry is extremely beneficial.

Stack has proven to be very accurate for takeoffs. I have used several competitor products and would rank Stack as a top tier product

Pros

The ability to follow/trace curved lines in takeoff during takeoff performance makes the quantity produced much more accurate and much quicker to perform the task

Cons

Platform seems at time to be unstable. I must exit program and restart to eliminate this condition.

STACK is very useful at my level for quantity takeoffs and early-stage project estimating. It allows the team to quickly measure plans and adjust quantities as needed.

### "Used for doing fast takeoffs and estimating"

May 25, 2025

5.0

I use STACK mainly when I need to put together quotes or bid on something fast. I upload the plans and do my takeoffs right in there, it’s all digital so no printing or scribbling by hand.

Pros

I like that it calculates everything as I go. I just mark areas or lengths, and it totals it all right away. I trust it more than doing it manually, especially when it’s a big project with lots of moving parts.

Cons

First time I used it, the numbers were way off because I didn’t set the scale properly. but not too complicated.

Very poor. Not a trustworthy company. Very crooked.

Pros

Easy to use. Support is knowledgeable and not a call center.

Cons

Jacked the price up 50% after the first year. Then when we decided to go to another program and cancel our subscription Stack locked us out of all our estimates and held it for ransom. Very un-ethical. Not a reputable company.

### "STACK has been integral in the growth of our company. "

July 28, 2023

5.0

I am extremely impressed with STACK. The tools, support, and ease of use are far beyond any other takeoff tool that I have used.

Pros

Using the takeoffs, items, and assemblies I am able to create accurate proposals and deliver them in a timely manner. This has increased my efficiency in immeasurable ways. Takeoffs that took me multiple days to finish by hand are now able to be completed in a couple hours.

Cons

When working on large projects, sometimes the system gets laggy. It only happens with the largest plans I deal with, when there are dozens of takeoffs being measured.

Reason for choosing STACK

Pricing, features, support, and ease of use. STACK impressed me in the initial trial period and has continued to do so for a year.

### "A great product that save time and accurately figures out materials and costs per project"

July 31, 2023

5.0

\[sensitive content hidden\], our sales manager for our counter sales people loves it and he uses it everyday. Colin, who also does bids and has been intigrating his takeoff with STACK also loves the programs as it has been easy to learn, and is easy to turn off or on features that we want for our customers.

Pros

I tested STACK a few years ago as our sales team spent hours figuring out materials and costs longhand. STACK was incredibly easy to learn and cut our sales teams time spent on large and small projects by so much. We have been able to get back to the contractor quickly with an accurate quote

Cons

Right now, there are more pros than cons. We do sheet metal and gutters, so it would be nice to have that available in STACK also as our jobs often cross over on several products for the same job

Reason for choosing STACK

Time and accuracy- getting the bid to our customer on a timely basis.

### "From a 'count' only estimating company......"

October 21, 2021

4.0

The power of cloud-based software is amazing, a definite game-changer for us. The product has many pro's with just as many could have's. Still using our old software on occasions where we need to price several options, change the structure of the proposal or offer breakup costs.

Pros

Takeoffs are quick, assemblies are easy to put together, it's very quick and easy to change what items and assemblies in a count. The main advantage for us is that we can have multiple people using the software at once.

Cons

Features I'd like to see are: -adding assemblies to an assembly 'item group' -simplify the process of creating an item>creating an assembly>creating a count takeoff -customized icons for takeoff counts -ability to lock (tick box) pricing in a proposal. once locked a new revision will be made if any variations are added -ability to copy a project and make several versions of it, so the older revisions are superseded but still available for reflection -ability to change pricing at the Estimate page for that specific project, without changing global pricing stack-wide -ability to download proposals in more than .pdf. Eg word, excel -ability to manage projects a little better. lots of unused space on the Projects screen. On the left you should have folders that organise my projects into 'Bidding, Bid submitted, Won, Lost etc'

Reason for choosing STACK

Cloud based
