July 12, 2020 2.0 I loved YouSendIt. I hate Hightail. Pros As YouSendIt, it used to be so simple and easy to use, I used it several times a day, no problem for years, all my customers loved it. Cons I did work for many schools and colleges. As soon as the name changed to Hightail, their email servers blocked the name "Hightail" as porn spam and I started getting complaints of jobs not being received. Customer service got worse, the app that I loved went away and had to use online clunky interface that was not at all intuitive. Hard to cancel. I was glad when my credit card expired! I use it daily to send large video and art files and would be hard-pressed without it. It has saved the day on numerous occasions and just keeps getting better with added features. Pros Hightail loads my files quickly and sends them on their way without hassle. The collaborative tools are awesome. Cons I can't think of a single thing. I like that I receive notifications on sending files and when the files are downloaded. I also like that I have a link to send to clients that they can also send me large files. Cons The one print broker I work with has a problem saving files fro mere to his phone. He needs me to use Drop Box, I believe it is because he does not have the APP on his phone. Pros I love that I can upload high resolution images easily, and share them with others privately using a link and access code. Cons It takes a while to flick through images one by one. Uploading and share files feels incredibly simple, and the ability to set the time a space stays active means I can ensure files stay available as long as necessary without getting too much clutter. Cons There have been a few instances where I've had to send files in multiple batches to get around the 10 GB limit, but those instances are so rare that they're hardly worth mentioning. This is never a problem using Hightail and is the main reason we rely on Hightail for all of our important document transfers. Pros Hightail is very easy to use and allows me to send any size file to any user quickly without ever having any problems on the receiving end. When sending important, time sensitive files that are often very large, I am always confident that they will be received and downloaded when I use Hightail. Pros This software is easy to use and affordable. Most people can access the files we send through Hightail without a problem. Cons I don't like the black background with very light grey writing on the page that records what we have sent out. It makes it difficult when researching for a particular order. Pros As a talent manager in the voiceover industry, Hightail allows my clients to quickly and effectively send large files containing audio files exactly where they need to be. Free signup, and very simple to use and understand. Cons Unless you pay for the upgrade, the files are deleted after a week or so, which has caused problems when the files aren't download right away. I use it for small and large volumes of documents which gives me the tracking information the courts require. Pros Transmission of legal documents in a secure setting is essential in my family law practice. The confidential documents required to be disclosed in my cases requires a program such as hightail. Cons The adverse attorneys who are less sophisticated have trouble with opening the access controlled documents. They call my team for the access. A learning curve for those attorneys I work with. Also, the time period for accessing the documents goes from 4 days to one week. There needs to be a dropdown for every day from 1 to 14. Review Source MM Marissa M. The storage is great but we could not operated with our the ability to send large files. Pros This is great for sharing large files. I used to use this to share files with a family member who lives a couple hours away. It is simple enough to upload and share (emails them with a link to download the file). My family member who is not good with computers was able to download the files without issues. Cons Now that Maildrop is built into Macs, I find no need to use this anymore. For PC users, this may still be useful though. Pros It is critical that I can trust the files I send will reach my clients. I've never had a failure and clients never report any difficulties in obtaining their files. Also the interface provides a record of uploads I can reference. Hightail helps me practically every day. Cons Hightail spaces seem a little confusing but one of my clients uses it without problems. Hightail isis much more accessible and instantaneous than Dropbox or other competitors. Recipients do not have to log in to a web portal to retrieve our images, saving time and frustration. I should take the time to go through all of the new options that I can use, but I don't have time.
