July 8, 2019 4.0 It allows me to upload preview video files for client review and then delivery of the final product once approved. Usually these files are less than 1GB; 1920x1080p mp4 HD video in stereo. Pros It works as advertised. Good feature set. Cons Does not allow the uploading of a FOLDER, i.e. a batch of still photos. Reason for choosing OpenText HighTail Ease of use over Dropbox. More control over how client views. For that, Hightail is the right choice. Cons It does what it says it's supposed to do, so I can't complain. When I need to transfer a large file, I choose Hightail. Review Source Maria G. It's relatively easy to navigate and the dark user interface theme definitely adds a layer of elegance that is visually appealing. Being able to share my files directly from the site itself also means less tabs I have to open, so the sharing tool has been a pretty neat tool when it comes to collaboration. Cons I've tried using the macOS extension for folder syncing, however it was not available for my subscription type any longer. Folders have since migrated to spaces, so it's been a real inconvenience to not be able to use the desktop app anymore. Review Source AF Alicia F. This software was used by an employee over 6 years ago, and never once received as much as an invoice, check in email, or any email for that matter. They have been charging my company for 6 years on an inactive email account. They should have much better checks and balances. Pros We never used it so we can't speak of any pros. Pros Hightail is great way to keep track of assets and to be able to send larger files to people outside of an organization. It is great to have all assets stored in one location and to be able to generate links from that location. Cons None! My files get where they need to go and my files are safely stored. Formerly known as yousendit. Hightail allows you to upload files and send them securely. The features are similar to any service that sends files for you. You can upload 100 MB at a time up to 2 GB for free. Plans start after that for a paid account. The GUI is nice and streamlined and a collaborative are is a nice touch for teamwork. Cons There are other options out there that seem to be more integrated, but for sending a file for free it is a nice option. Review Source CG Cary G. I love it. Pros I love the Hightail Spaces, it makes sharing a group of files much more user friendly for clients. Cons I wish we could choose the thumbnail image for quicktimes. I rarely encounter challenges with the exception of the iPhone issue. Pros What I like the most is the simplicity of the software and that I can use it from my phone. Cons Sometimes when I am trying to send videos from my iPhone, Hightail appears to be stuck. Sometimes I need to try 2-3 times. Each image is about 20MB and a dispatch of images can be as large as 600MB. Email can't do it. Recently I had a rush job. I was in South Dakota, my editor in Wales, and we were on deadline. Images and text were delivered quickly and with ultimate reliability. All other dispatches around the world have been trouble free. Pros It is extremely easy to use and fast to prepare a dispatch. It has been totally reliable. It allows me to track dispatches. My customers have never had a problem downloading. Cons I love the software. The only issue is internet speed. I send large images; without enough bandwith, images may be slow to upload. That isn't Hightail's fault. The program is so so easy to use. The price has been outstanding. for incoming footage or docs...if not sent on hightail, i wished they had been sent via hightail.... Cons There is no downside to the software, my problem is more with my server. Pros Very easy to share flies including video and pictures. That is what we use it for. To send product videos shot by us to our clients. They can then comment on fixes and we can send files back and forth. Pretty cheap compared to other software. Cons The biggest issue I have with Hightail is the ability to get a receipt for payment each month. It is the biggest pain to get and find. They fact that i have to go hunt it down is insane in a world where it should just be emailed to me.Only one client really uses it as there is other better software out there that is more expensive. I have only once had someone tell me they could not get documents because they needed a code. Not sure why, I did not put a code on it. But other than that everything has been very smooth. Pros Product is user-friendly. I have had trouble with other software that would lead to frustration. Not once with Hightail. Cons No cons, I don't have any complaints whatsoever.
