We have been using VC to develop multi language and multivendor website for our Real Estate Agencies across Spain. Also we need a service for property listings management for our agents, 3rd parties' and content managers. Truly satisfied with VC as our primary platform. And the most important, we can roll out a lot of new listings and landing pages for empowering our SEO metrics.

Pros

Our requirement was not only creating a real estate portal fast, that could be constantly updated by our content managers. We also looked for extensive business, technical, and marketing features: - improved performance - 24/7 availability, scalability - multi- user, multi-lingual, multi-currency - catalog view - multi-feature filters and selections - map display and search - promotions - favorites - social sharing - notifications and property page details must be visible with fast load times on any device. - SEO-optimized website structure like 200.000 SEO landing pages - a mortgage calculator - a buyer’s guide - location rating

Cons

We had a lot of customization and used integration with another CMS for better front-end performance.

Pros

The best thing about this software is every thing that we do from the platform can also be done through API's so this is the best and the most useful aspect of this software.

Cons

One thing i don't like about the software is the Reporting feature is missing. If basic reporting is included as the part of the platform than this becomes a one stop solution for all the ecommerce needs.

We are excited to learn more about the scalable and extensibility - as we want to roll out to different operating companies. We are glad to have selected a platform that allows us to expand with out limits - unlike our first tool choice.

Pros

Easy to access out of the box for set up -- and we were up and running with our phase 1 in just a few weeks. We are tech savvy but I think it would be easy to configure for most companies as well.

Cons

There's nothing that I can think of right now.

I am a developer so I will use my line of reason. Thus Virto Commerce seems the best solution for those who want to use the high-modern eCommerce technologies regardless of how much resources do they have. As the mission of Virto Commerce is to give all business easy access to the best eCommerce solutions, it has some restrictions. Yes, you can launch very functional out-of-box site just in 42 minutes including obtaining Azure account, yes, it will be for free, yes, you can adjust it to fit your growing requirements using control panel as well as changing the source codes. But. But you (or your IT team) have to be qualified in such technologies as .Net and C# ‘cause you are that guys who will develop your Virto Commerce instance. Sure, Virto Commerce has documentation, samples, forums, tech-support, enterprise edition and so on. Nevertheless, you and only you are responsible for that you will get finally. So if you have serious intention to build big solution starting with minimal costs, Virto Commerce is the best choice for you.

The company I work for, Caromba, is a platform that connects the car owner, the garages and other companies in the same platform. Its both B2C and B2B enabled. Its not like any other system and thus we needed a platform that we could customize and that was built to be customized. Virto commerce offered us that and much more. We host our complex solution 100% in the cloud, built up on .Net and open source, couldn't be happier!

Pros

Azure .Net Open Source = full control of code and development Customizable Great architecture - these guys knows what they do!

Cons

You pretty much need to have an IT department to be able to run this solution. Its not plug and play in that sense. So platform is for companies that want to/are unique and offers a unique solution/product.
