### "Excellent all-in-one practice management solution"

I have found LEAP to be an excellent all-in-one practice management solution, integrating accounting, docketing, email, and document management into a single platform. As a sole practitioner, it significantly enhances efficiency and organization, functioning as a reliable support system in my daily practice. Its value is maximized when used as a comprehensive practice management tool, rather than solely for billing purposes. Its DivorceMate integration and AI features is particularly impressive, offering powerful tools that have resulted in meaningful time and cost savings.

Pros

The fact that its an all-in-one system. It handles everything from accounting to document management, which makes running a sole practice much more efficient.

Cons

One limitation is that the Leap is best experienced on a wide screen, as accessing all features on a smaller display can be less convenient.

### "Beyond satisfied."

We switched from PCLaw to LEAP a few years ago and we cannot be happier. LEAP has made a MASSIVE difference in our business. We capture much more time and our billings have increased dramatically. The cloud-based software makes running a paperless practice so easy. I can be anywhere with an internet connection and I have my whole practice at my fingertips.

Pros

LEAP is extraordinarily user friendly. The document management tools are tremendously helpful. The customer support is outstanding. LEAP has definitely taken our law practice to the next level.

Cons

Sometimes the LEAP updates cause glitches with microsoft office suite apps. I also wish there were a single report which pulls all of the trust account information required by the Law Society of Alberta's annual self-report. The "LSA Export" tool is amazing. But that's only one part of the annual report. It would be great to have the other information easily accessible in a single report, rather than having to sift through three separate reports for each trust account.

### "Best Legal Client Relationship Management Software"

I think it is well worth the cost, given all of its features along with the abilty to have cloud access. It is a fully integrated piece of software, and more importantly, the team at LEAP is excellent to work with and are always looking for ways to improve and enhance the software.

Pros

We have used several other legal practice management softwares, but none of them were fully integrated. Especially trust accounting. LEAP is by far the best fullly integrated practice management software I have ever used, and the trust accounting and reporting keeps us LSO compliant.

Cons

It takes quite a bit of time to load and can be a bit glitchy as times. This is expected as it is so robust, but that would be my only complaint.

### "True “all‑in‑one” system"

Great and time saving. This is particularly valued by small firms and sole practitioners, where admin overhead falls directly on the principal. Also it is cloude based and convenient to work from any where in the world.

Pros

it acts as an all‑in‑one system for a sole practitioner. The document automation and precedents save substantial drafting time and give consistency across conveyancing, trust, and lending files. The built‑in workflows replace manual checklists and reduce the risk of missing steps. AML and compliance tools keep files audit‑ready with minimal extra effort. Having matters, documents, billing, trust accounting, and correspondence in one system lowers admin burden and cognitive load. When used properly, LEAP effectively replaces a junior lawyer, practice manager, and compliance officer in one platform

Cons

It may be cost–effort imbalance when you’re not fully using it. It feels expensive for a sole practitioner, especially given the time needed to set up and maintain precedents and workflows. The desktop interface can feel clunky and dated, and email handling—particularly with Outlook Web—adds unnecessary manual steps. LEAP is also quite rigid: you must work “the LEAP way”, which can feel frustrating when you want speed or flexibility. In short, it’s powerful but heavy, unforgiving of under‑use, and sometimes more complex than you’d like for straightforward matters.

### "LEAP into the future"

Overall, LEAP has been a great upgrade from the software we used previously, and the support has been consistently excellent. It’s definitely priced higher than some alternatives, but the quality and support make it well worth it.

Pros

LEAP is an easy-to-use system that our team picked up quickly, thanks to its clear layout and accessible training resources. It has made everyday tasks like managing matters, creating documents, recording time, and billing much more straightforward. The integrations with MYOB, InfoTrack, Microsoft Office 365, and RapidPay work well and help keep everything in one place. The precedent library is extensive and useful, and trust accounting has improved noticeably since we started using LEAP.

Cons

Safe custody record‑keeping is still a bit time‑consuming and could be easier to use. When we moved from a partnership to a company and had to set up a new data file, the transfer process was more complicated than we expected. On the plus side, the support we received during the transition—and the ongoing support since—has been excellent and very helpful.

### "LEAP is for me."

I have to admit the learning curve was steep for me personally. However, when I figured out how to build my forms and documents and ensure I had my data entered, LEAP really showed its versatility and power. It returned hours to me in my practice and as a solo that meant a I could concentrate more on lawyering and marketing and less on admin.

Pros

It is feature rich practice management software. I did not realize how much time it was going to save me until I really learned how to use it. Once the firm templates, memos, documents even emails were built the day to day time wasting tasks went away. Once client data is entered communication is a joy as all forms, documents and really anything with data can be prefilled for you. Having my billing and accounting under the same umbrella and connected to Quickbooks is just a pleasure as well as a time saver.

Cons

There are a few items that are clunky, like no middle name or initial block. There is a limited amount of customization and no CRM.

### "Leap Review"

Leap software is great. It is good to have all mattes, data etc stored in one place, where all staff can access and see what is happening.

Pros

User friendly, easy to navigate, good search functionality and client management. The compare documents and Law Y functions are of great assistance.

Cons

In trust accounting that Leap reconciles by entry date not transaction date. This is illogical. Not being able to tailor the trust and settlement statements easily to send to clients. Clients don't' need (or necessarily want) to see when we entered the data etc. Sometimes the linking with Microsoft cuts out and emails don't always save, so you need to re-do it, sometimes more than once.

Overall, my experience with LEAP has been phenomenal. I think their Client Specialists (especially \[sensitive content hidden\], who is assigned to us) are incredibly knowledgeable and great at explaining various features and how we can apply them to our firm. This application is extremely powerful and can do a ton of things. It is extremely customizable which is fantastic for firms of all sizes, practice areas, and workflows. I cannot recommend enough giving this software a try.

Pros

Their Customer Support is truly incredible. They are always there for you when you need it. Any questions or issues I had, they were ready to work with me to find a solution. Their client managers are very knowledgeable and will collaborate with you to find specific solutions to make your day to day work more efficient by showing you features related to how you already use the software. The software is extremely comprehensive and laid out well. There are tons of bells and whistles for firms of all sizes and needs. I truly love the document automation. It's extremely helpful to have most of the information pulled from contact cards and other fields within a matter. I also love that I can edit letters and documents to create my own automated letters. It saves a ton of time.

Cons

You do need to be pretty proficient at understanding Word processing and formatting a document. I would say you need to be slightly above proficient to create your own templates, whether letters, forms, or invoices. There are some aspects of template creating that I cannot do because I don't know how to write javascript. It's a whole section of the application that I can't even tap into.

### "Working Smarter With LEAP"

While it was a bit a rough start when Divorcemate was not completely integrated, the integration of same that has occurred since has made this a great experience.

Pros

It is great for time management and billing. Simply being able to save emails directly to a file and bill for same is a gamechanger. We love the accessibility and cloud access. The value for money is definitely present. And the features are fantastic. It has dramatically improved capturing our time and billing.

Cons

Access to customer support is more efficient within the App than within the actual program. It would be great if there was a simply one button click to get to support in the program.

### "LEAP is your dream practice management software"

LEAP is my dream software, and I appreciate how organized and efficient it has made my practice. I can save time on administrative tasks and focus instead on the law work that gives real value to my clients. I also cut down on the time that I steal from myself when I don't bill for administrative work. Thanks to my trainers I felt confident to use the tools immediately.

Pros

LEAP's tools are exceptional, and they are easy to understand and use. Not least of all because of the exceptional training process undertaken by LEAP's team of installers and trainers. Very quickly after installation I was populating my client's data and creating matters. Within a week I was billing. This program was designed by lawyers to capture all the important aspects of client management. The search functionality saves time, documents can be saved within the client's matter, duplication is reduces, and in that way LEAP provides real value for money.

Cons

I was able to afford LEAP training because of a special credit on offer in the month of January. The \[sensitive content hidden\] of my previous firm had refused to pay the training costs up front, and so I can report that I do not like that this was a barrier to me in the past. It is also a barrier when I recommend LEAP to my colleagues. That being said, I am grateful that I could benefit from the special discount that was on offer.

### "Great interface and support, but reliability issues impact usability"

Overall, LEAP is a well designed system with a strong support team behind it, and it has the potential to significantly improve workflow. However, the recurring technical issues and reliability concerns currently impact productivity and can be frustrating in a busy practice environment.

Pros

LEAP has a very intuitive and easy to use interface, which makes it accessible for both new and experienced users. The layout is logical and helps streamline day to day tasks. The support team is also a standout, they are incredibly responsive, helpful, and generally quick to assist when issues arise.

Cons

There are ongoing performance issues that impact day to day use. We regularly experience problems opening documents (particularly Word and Excel), along with frequent freezing that requires restarting the software. There have also been instances where documents appear to save but are not actually saved in LEAP, requiring additional time to troubleshoot and locate or recreate work. These issues can be disruptive and affect efficiency.

As a longtime Turbo Law user, I made the switch to LEAP several years ago and it has proven to be the right decision. While there is a learning curve, the platform has become increasingly easier to use over time, and the support team has only gotten better — with excellent responsiveness whenever I need assistance. As a probate practitioner in Massachusetts, I depend on LEAP daily for document preparation, court filing integration, matter management, and time and billing — all of which help streamline my practice and keep things running efficiently. What has impressed me most is how the platform has continued to grow, regularly adding new features that make it even more capable.

Pros

As a longtime Turbo Law user, I transitioned to LEAP several years ago and haven't looked back. While there is a learning curve, the support team is excellent and response times are consistently fast. As a probate practitioner in Massachusetts, I find LEAP particularly valuable for streamlining my workflow and preparing documents for filing with the Probate Court. Five stars without hesitation.

Cons

There are a couple of areas with room for improvement: occasional slow loading times, and the ability to automatically carry sender information to the header of second and subsequent pages of letters and forms would be a welcome enhancement.

There were a lot of quirks when we first started using LEAP that have since been ironed out. Customer services is great.

Pros

The AI features and the the practice management software are veyr usefule tools. We are family law firm so DivorceMate is the reason we migrated but we like the software now.

Cons

The data migration was difficult at first from CLIO but we were one of the firms that were first to adopt.

### "Best Legal Software for Accounting and Practice Management"

Overall it has been a game changer. I have used PC Law and Ulaw in the past and it is much easier to use, more options for precedents and forms. The time tracking tools are excellent, the personalization and customization, the integration with Microsoft and Quickbooks alone make it worth every penny. The customer support and training have also been out of this world, PC law didn't have support at one point and ULAW support was sending you a link to a youtube video. Knowing that I have real people available with an email makes me feel confident using the service.

Pros

Leap is easy to use and my favorite part is that every setting and possible option can be configured to meet the specific needs of the law practice I work for. I love that I can add my own precedents in a couple of clicks and that everything is integrated with Microsoft products I use all day. I spend less time with admin and data entry than with previous software.

Cons

When I open the accounting tab in leap, I'd like to see a window that says exactly what is left in someone's retainer balance in our trust account instead of having to produce a preview invoice. The previous legal software I used was ULAW, and it was about the only good thing about it was every time you opened the ongoing matter, the first thing you'd see is how much funds were in trust, even if an invoice wasn't created.

Overall, LEAP is a really good and secure resource that has good functionality and helps to keep files professionally organized.

Pros

LEAP is a very powerful tool. When used properly and in an organized manner, it is a great client management resource.

Cons

LEAP still has bugs that need to be worked out. It doesn't always load properly, it struggles to open client files at times, and the integration between some of the resources (like Adobe, word, etc.) don't always work properly.

### "Good product with good price"

Very good. All in one software for a good price. I am using it daily for my law practice and all day I am on LEAP.

Pros

It is comprehensive, offering lots of features including practice management, accounting and document preparation. I am also using LEAP AI a lot. Conflict check is also very helpful.

Cons

Sometimes it is difficult to deal with settings and find the correct form, journal or feature. I have been using this software since its first day in Canada and still I do not know some of the features. But, there are lots of articles on the web about LEAP and customer support is responsive.

Overall, I like the system and I'm glad that my firm is using it. Having come from other firms using different software, this is my favourite.

Someone created a Financial Statement on their own account, under the file name and I was unable to access it from my own account.

### "LEAP review - small Gold Coast Law Firm"

Pros

I have used LEAP legal software in around 2014 as an employee and now I am nearly 3 years using it as the principal of a small law for on the Gold Coast. While LEAP is not the cheapest out there, it provides the best value for money as it saves me time and energy and the support is fantastic.

Cons

LEAP is expensive, and has been glitchy with my new laptop. I also wish it still was supported using an Apple.

### "Amazing LEAP!"

We would be lost without LEAP - it really does make my daily life so much easier and helps my files stay so much more organised and allows me to do my job so much better.

Pros

LEAP has been life changing - having used case management systems in the past, I can honestly say that LEAP is the best one I have ever used. They are constantly striving to make improvements in order to make life easier for the user. They are on hand to help if you need them. My files are in order with all client details to hand in an instance. I love that Infotrack, Indemnity Policies and Perfect Portal are all able to be integrated into our system so they can a one stop shop for all things needed to work on my files. It is easy to keep track of which staff members have worked on which files so if we need to check anything we can see who has done what and contact accordingly. The Matter AI tools are invaluable for helping matters along with drawing information and and when requested and assisting in the drafting of documents/letters/emails as well. Well done LEAP!

Cons

That I didn't find them sooner! Having worked for other firms with different case management systems, I just wish all the firms I previously worked for had LEAP.

### "Good for file management"

Overall it's been very helpful for file management and accounting. The customer support has been very good we were lucky to get a great support person.

Pros

Easy file management. We like that we can save emails and documents and add time entries easily from outlook and we like the way it works with Word.

Cons

The Divorcemate forms were glitchy for years (also we don't like having to go into another three year contract after the first three years because out business planning doesn't work on that schedule).

### "Leap Experience"

It has been decent and average. They do have good responsive customer service and agents and it has gotten better since they first launched in Canada as we were an early adopter. Bug fixes are continuing to improve. The original PCL transition process was costly as we had 30 years of data to port over.

Pros

I like the efficiency of having all emails stored to file automatically and all files for all practices and the accounting across the firm under one platform. AI is helpful to find emails.

Cons

The cost of the service and all the ancillary software that is needed for it to operate (Quick books, Microsoft 365, Adobe pro etc). It really drives up your monthly technology costs. Also, the fact that the Wills platform and conveyancing platform (Closer) is yet an additional per file cost and it was not sold that way to me originally. I was told originally it could be used for both as part of the LEAP platform.

The learning curve. There are a lot of features, which is great, but not all covered in the training.

### "Over a decade of use with no regrets!"

In 2015 when I was preparing to set up my own legal practive, I knew I needed some form of Practice Management Software and I arranged for a demonstration of LEAP. I was literally grinning from ear to ear during the demonstration, such was the "Wow" factor. 10 years on, LEAP continues to deliver the "Wow" factor!

Pros

It represents such excellent value for its very reasonable price (currently $339 AUD per user per month). For basically one billable hour per month per user I simply cannot afford NOT to have LEAP. It is such a phenomenally good Practice Management Software that makes my professional life so much easier and enjoyable! And it continues to get better - with the advent of AI and LEAP's addition of "LawY" I have access to additional very powerful AI tools giving me very impressive AI drafting and legal research without any increase in the monthly subscription! It even includes the option to have LawY's AI generated legal research verified by an actual lawyer - even that is included in the standard LEAP per user fee! LEAP is very well supported in so many ways including product managers, free webinars, online training etc.

Cons

No product is perfect, so there are always things that could be better. Including sometimes LEAP changing things that users do not necessarily want changed. One other minor thing is that there is one add on that costs extra - the ByLawyers Guide (currently $69 AUD per user per month extra). However, either all of your users have the add on, or none of your users have the add on. The add on is also excellent value and I wouldn't be without; but my Legal Assistant does not really use it.

### "Great and easy to use software"

Pros

I think the phrase "work smart, not hard" was likely invented by LEAP. The interface provides many easy to use functions. Something as simple as having cards along the side of the matter I can easily send a letter or email to the intended recipient. Working in a Private Client team, LEAP also makes it easier to fill out IHT 400 forms by creating the forms through its software. I have, more recently, been making use of the integrated AI, this can be to ask simple questions where I need a quick answer, or if it's something more complicated making sure the AI answer is correct by referring the question to a qualified professional. The AI is also very useful for creating specific documents where we do not have precedents. I have also been using the time recording feature, and while I have dreaded time recording for a long time, LEAP makes the process so simple. I also use WillSuite on a daily business and it's the best Will writing software I've used.

Cons

My one complaint is that I cannot drag any attachments from emails directly through to my LEAP matter, I have to save the document separately onto file explorer or save it directly onto the matter and it's roughly 30 seconds longer.

### "A must have for every legal practice"

I started using LEAP in 2017, having never worked in a law firm before. LEAP was very intuitive from the start, and I can't imagine working in a law firm without it.

Pros

As a legal assistant, LEAP is a super platform. I love how easy it is to organise each matter, allowing users to schedule tasks, enter payments and fees, create and email invoices, run reports, order certificates, create documents and letters and ask for help if necessary. The development team is always improving the product based on customer feedback which saves us time.

Cons

I wish client cards would have additional "future address" options as clients may move more than once over the many years we act for them. I also think client cards should have a "new name" option, as people change their names for many reasons over the course of their lives.
