They aren't always hounding me to upgrade, which is refreshing. Could I handle prettier emails? Sure, but I don't feel that's top priority for me right now. The priority is getting something written and out to my list. In fact, keeping it simple with their drag and drop method gets me in and out of the platform fast and allows me to get back into my studio and onto the things that drive my business... making my paintings. Pros To be honest, the thing I like most is that is free. As a small art business, I watch costs very closely. I like that my account with EmailOctopus will grow only as I grow. As I grow my list, which means I have more opportunity to earn more, then I don't mind paying for features that I'll probably need down the line. Also, it's a simple to use platform which I appreciate. I have easy access to my data (my list). Another thing that I like is that they implement a verification process to get into my account. It's simple and fast yet gives a sense of protection that I want. Cons Some things I like least about would be that I don't have access to my data reports for each individual campaign for very long. I think it's 2 weeks. However, they do give you the option to download them as a csv which is nice. You just need to catch it in time and download. Of course if you upgrade to a paid version you have access to your data at any time. Not having long term access is a price I'm willing to pay at the moment. The emails are fairly simple to make, however as a past graphic designer, I find myself wondering why the platform won't do a certain thing design wise but it's never been a big deal. In that experience, I had never encountered this level of operational intrusion. After onboarding, importing my list, and preparing campaigns, my campaign was placed on hold for manual review. later confirmed that my campaign did not violate any compliance rule. Despite this, they manually opened and reviewed my private campaign content and initiated an extended investigation into my internal business processes, lead acquisition methods, and data structure. They questioned: Why some contacts did not have “first names” (even though my form only collects a single name field) Why B2B contacts used role-based emails (info@, hello@, etc.) How my internal workflows operate How leads are processed internally All contacts were first-party, permission-based, and obtained through legitimate business channels. No purchased or scraped data was used. Instead of relying on standard industry indicators (complaints, bounce rates, engagement, unsubscribe rates), the platform relied on subjective manual reviews and repeated documentation requests. This created delays, uncertainty, and business risk. At some point, continuing would have required disclosing sensitive internal company processes just to send lawful campaigns. We identified patterns in the contact list — including a high volume of role-based addresses, which commonly appear in purchased lists — that didn't align with the collection method described. We asked some routine questions to understand the gap. Reviewing campaign content and asking new senders about list acquisition is standard practice across the email industry. It's essential for maintaining strong relationships with inbox providers and protecting deliverability for all our customers. Pros SO easy and a quick way to send information to the parents of my students. As a teacher, time is limited so this saves time and makes it easy for parents to view. I love the. schedule feature and being able to see who has or hasn't opened their email. Cons I would love to be able to add a PDF into the layout. Sometimes I have a permission slip or a flyer that I want my students' parents to see so that would be nice to add that into the template. I haven't received a single complaint from a subscriber about not receiving our emails, so this is dependable. If you have an issue or question, the customer service is excellent. Cons Their embedded forms don't allow subscribers to choose which of our emails they'd like to receive. It only allows them to subscribe to all.
