They sent this like two hours before I've signed in. I'm supposed to give them all my info, wait for their approval and only then shoot my emails. During the approval process we look to find out what kind of emails you'll be sending and how the list was grown many companies continue to use purchased lists, which are not only against the law but impact the service massively too so having this step allows us to educate users and improve our service for all. In many cases approval can be done immediately, without any additional questions. However at times we do need to get some additional information, this is what will have happened in your case. Those questions only need to be answered once, and should take no longer than 2 minutes to answer. While we appreciate those questions may add some additional friction to signing up, it's done with the best of intentions and is why our reputation is so high with the likes of Gmail and Yahoo. EmailOctopus handles all that and we know that they can be relied upon to help when necessary. Pros We were first attracted to EmailOctopus for the excellent pricing but have stayed for many years because of the reliability and truly excellent service. None of the annoying 'support' from many online companies which consists of stock paragraphs and insincere platitudes from poorly trained staff. EmailOctopus team members reply quickly and accurately to any queries (not that we've needed help often). Cons Some better multiple list support for searched and sign-ups would be nice but not a deal-breaker. Instead of suddenly breaking into an expensive category because of additional subscribers, EmailOctopus has a gentler system. They even reduce the charge if you lose subscribers! Perfect for someone like me with a modest budget. Cons The dashboard was a little bit difficult to negotiate at first, and the emails hard to design until I got the knack--now it's not hard at all. " October 24, 2022 5.0 Overall I am thrilled to bits, and I am sure as time goes on that the software is only going to get better and better. I have suggested to many of my clients that they consider Email Octopus for their marketing emails provider. Pros I am a solopreneur who is in the process of building her email empire. At the moment, I have an absolutely tiny email list. I was really struggling to find a company that could meet my needs as someone just getting started. So many other providers were so expensive that I could not justify the cost of the program. Email Octopus is a company that will grow with me - and won't break my budget once I get to where I want to be. Building emails is simple - it works just like other drag-n-drop email builders, but the difference is that it is somehow even easier to use. The landing page builder is also simple and functional. The couple of interactions I have had with the Email Octopus team have been overwhelmingly positive. Cons Audience segmentation leaves some things to be desired. While Email Octopus is on par with Constant Contact and Flodesk in terms of segmentation, they don't have as many customization options as MailChimp. This isn't a problem for me right now at this stage, but it is something that I am a little worried about for the future. We love the value of our monthly subscription, which was almost half the cost of MailChimp, but provides us with plenty of emails for the size of our contact list, and allows us to do segmentation and have multiple users. The campaign/email creator tool is easy to use. Cons Navigating between the Setup/Design/Content/Send portions of the Campaigns form is a little frustrating because you can't jump from setup to content, for example. I design the NewsLetter in MailChimp and copy/paste the HTML. It works fine that way. Pros I moved from MailChimp, because of the price tag. Octopus is way cheaper, but it's still possible to send the same quality emails and that's​ great. Cons 1\. A better interface to make your own template/design. Limitations in fonts, sizes, etc 2. List features are limited. No way to create segments or groups based on subscriber data. 3. Regarding reports: A graphic overview of where the clicks are placed. I only send one email every month and the features mean I can do this quickly without much fuss. The customer service is so fast and helpful. Everyone I've spoken to has been amazing and helped me as soon as I've asked.Less emails go into spam so I have a much higher open rate than I did with Mailchimp Cons Sometimes it can be hard to edit the email when you want to be a bit more creative without using the HTML function, such as formatting sections, tables, fonts, etc. The sign up campaign landing page options could be better too. This have drived me crazy sometimes.I found it hard even after creating and automatized lots of emails already.I haven't managed to "set up" a predefined format, to use it in my new emails.I know you can save your customized templates once you worked on them. But, for instance, if I have on my email a certain color and font, and then I edit and add some new paragraph, this one is added in the original predefined color and font, not in the color and font I'm using, and this is really annoying.It might be possible fix this, but I still haven't find an intuitive way to do it! Their email support is also one of the best I've ever dealt with. Pros I like how quickly I was able to set it up. I also frequently give their API documentation as an example of a perfectly written document. While composing a new campaign, the UI doesn't get in the way and I'm able to just get down to work. Cons I couldn't figure out a way to "merge" multiple user lists, or send a campaign to users from multiple different lists at once.
