Pros I thought this would be of great value but after sending two emails, I had incredibly low open rates. I had only been on the platform for 5 days, and they won't even give me a refund! I would highly NOT recommend using this service. Customer support was also awful and would not process my refund, even after sending just two emails and being on the platform than less than a week. It's truly absurd. Cons I did not like anything about EmailOctopus and I would highly recommend others look elsewhere for their email service. Pros I checked out EmailOctopus because my previous mail platform was changing it's pricing tiers and I found I was paying for services I didn't want or could not use.The pricing plans for EmailOctopus were better and I was impressed that even the free tier which I used to test the service gave me full access to everything (inc. API). Support has been fast and excellent.The service has a good modern UI and is very easy to use. Cons I can’t really think of any. I used it to send reminders to my clients for upcoming online Zoom classes. My business is small so it’s easy to manage, but for larger number of clients it would become more difficult because I have to manually add clients to lists depending on which class/classes they chose to join in a particular month. That part was a little tricky, but email octopus provides easy to follow instructions and they're very helpful. Overall, I'm so glad I switched from my previous overly-priced provider. The emails are just as easy to create and look just as great for a fraction of the cost. I recommend email octopus to everyone I know with a newsletter. Pros I like that I can send thousands of emails so inexpensively. It has a drag and drop set up and is incredibly easy to use. Cons It doesn't have all the functionality of my last email provider, but it's a fraction of the cost and I don't need what the other provider offered. Which is impressive. The tool however feels very half-baked, compared to Sendy for example. I've used for a few months, then quit for another system that used the same Amazon SES infrastructure. Pros \- Very clean and easy to understand interface. - Once you get it up and running, it's a breeze to send emails. - There's a free plan to start with. Cons \- Hard to start sending emails - you have to be approved by Amazon, then request an increase in sending limits. March 5, 2026 5.0 I uploaded a brand new list to Email Octopus with subs who downloaded a reader magnet and within twenty minutes I had a campaign that was easy and simple to set up, and a multiple email automation based on triggers and subscriber actions. From upload to send in 20 minutes. It's that easy, and deliverability was great. The interface is very intuitive, and though I haven't used it, help was available for the asking at every step. Pros Simple and easy to set up, we use Email Octopus to parse new email subs from multiple lists and give them an automation sequence. It took less than 5 minutes to upload a list, and another 10 to set up a multi-touchpoint email automation. Super affordable, and easy to scale too. Cons The intial 2500 sub limit was considered a detraction for us when we first started, since a lot of our lead gen magnets attract a lot of subs who only want the freebie. It is clear what to do with little or no training and pretty straight forward. Pros I like how easy it is to drag and drop images onto newsletters. The templates are really good too. Cons The restrictions to the number of emails being sent can make it hard to balance my prices accordingly. I use it to put newsletters together for my clients. Effectivly i am a middle man, a one of mayment per x number of emails would be a good feature rather than a monthly subscription. Reason for choosing EmailOctopus Email Octopus offered a higher number of free emails and contacts each month than anyone else I found. Pros Its has many of the same features and functions that the big email campaign platforms have, but at a percentage of the costs. Unless you have some particular need you're solving with MailChimp or CampaignMonitor, EmailOctopus will deliver mail reliably at a lower cost. Uses Amazon SES, which should be fairly reliable. Cons I haven't used every feature, but what I have used so far (simple mail lists, campaigns, etc.), I do not see any cons. Review Source Johan E. Cons I don't like the email set up. I think there should be a better email builder. Additionally, my click rate isn't as good as with my last service, even though my deliverability is better, which again, can be improved with making a better builder.
