I highly recommend them, especially to fellow authors or publishers on a budget. Pros Easy learning curve, ability to import subscribers, and a competitive free plan that is way better than the alternatives. I also appreciate the customer service, which has been quick and speedy every time I have spoken to them (and they are REAL humans, too, which is nice). The ability to design reusable templates has also been helpful. Also, I have not noticed any decrease in opening and click through rates from transferring over from my old newsletter provider. Cons You only get 3 automations on the free plan, which has forced me to cut down on the number of automations I use. But I only really need one, so it's not a terrible drawback. It has helped us to remain in contact with our audiences and segment our messaging to them much more than would have been possible for our team before. Pros It's easy to use. Good user interface. Allows us to maintain email list and send branded email quickly at low cost. Works as a very basic CRM which is enough for our current needs. For a nonprofit with limited budget this tool fulfilled all the base necessities we needed without breaking the bank. I find the template easy to work with and very intuitive. Pros I find EmailOctopus super easy to use. I can set up my newsletter quickly and I have even been able to set up some automated emails to welcome my new subscribers. Love it! Cons I struggle with the different email lists. I would like to be able to merge them and not just segment them. I have two lists that I use each month but as of right now, I have to send my newsletter out twice to get it to both lists. Our subscribers are receiving their emails. Pros A free platform where I can schedule emails to be sent. It is very user-friendly and easy to use. The email designs are customizable. I haven't received a single complaint from a subscriber about not receiving our emails, so this is dependable. If you have an issue or question, the customer service is excellent. Cons Their embedded forms don't allow subscribers to choose which of our emails they'd like to receive. It only allows them to subscribe to all. It offers great value for the price, and its simplicity makes it easy to navigate for beginners while still offering enough features for more customization and functionality. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cost-effective, no-fuss email marketing solution that allows for the creation of multiple newsletters and mailing lists and gets the job done efficiently. Pros What I like most about EmailOctopus is its user-friendly interface and overall affordability, especially for smaller businesses or individuals just starting with email marketing (like me). The Free Plan gives room for building up to 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 emails per month before asking you to upgrade for a low monthly cost. I find this to be a very obscure feature amongst their competitors - and it is extremely fair, as it gives a ton of value and doesn't put the new user on a time clock to expand readership in order to benefit from that value. The platform also offers a robust set of features, including easy list management and automation tools, all while being more budget-friendly compared to many other email marketing services (the first paid tier starts at $9/month for 500 subscribers and the price is on a sliding scale that takes both subscriber count and email frequency into account). This demonstrates to me that I'll be able to adjust my account according to personalized need as I grow. The integration with other platforms makes it flexible and adaptable to various needs. I'm able to connect my lists to Payhip very easily. Cons So far I haven't noticed much of a downside. I'm able to easily brand my mailings, create new newsletters and mailing lists, connect to various services for easy integrated use, and I seem to have a lot of control over design even on the free plan. June 13, 2025 5.0 It's been easy to figure out, and it's been very simple to find answers when I can't figure something out on my own. I've been happy with each NL that I sent, and usually can get them formatted in less than 20 minutes(as long as I already have the information I plan to add to it). I really love having the ability to set up templates. Pros Out of the providers I've tried for sending emails, this has been the most user-friendly. You don't have to get a college degree in software or whatever to figure it out. I love that because when I have had people ask me a question about it, I have been able to help them, even the ones who can barely navigate sites like facebook. Cons I wish I could do more with the overall background that would make things more fun. Oh, and when it looks like the sizes are set correctly with the words and images so they end at the same place, somehow it's always a little off from the way it looked on the site to how it looks in the actual email. But that might just be my personal sizing on my laptop. More editing options and flexibility in design. Cons Could enhance creative function a little further, whilst it offers a lot of creative direction there are some more features that could be added such as making the elements of a design more easily moveable and customisable. It was very easy to switch from my previous provider. Everything has gone smooth, zero issues so far! The website is great. They make things easy to figure out and understand. I'm really liking EmailOctopus! I used to use another email marketing provider, but I had that old service on pause for a long time because it got too expensive. Switching to EmailOctopus was a no-brainer decision. Cons The only thing I don't like is that when I copy a Google Doc to a text box in my Octopus template, it does not hold the formatting. I usually have to copy from Google Docs to a Word Doc, and then copy again to my Octopus template. Also, I can't figure out how to use the columns...if I try to use a two column look to put an image next to a text box, it always reverts to the top of my newsletter/eblast. As a teacher, time is limited so this saves time and makes it easy for parents to view. I love the. schedule feature and being able to see who has or hasn't opened their email. Cons I would love to be able to add a PDF into the layout. Sometimes I have a permission slip or a flyer that I want my students' parents to see so that would be nice to add that into the template. Pros Very easy to use and to integrate to the mailing list submission form already setup on my website. User-friendly site to navigate. Cons The ability to categorise people on your mailing list through tags is a little clunky. It would be useful to be able to organise contacts who haven't necessarily subscribed to a mailing list (e.g they've just signed up to receive emails about a particular event). I have not found similar service with other platforms (I did try a few and switched for this reason). Pros As am artist and a micro-business owner I am on very limited finances. EmailOctopus was the ONLY platform I could find where a real human was willing to talk to me, help me set up an account, and trouble shoot issues with me without having a paid account. Their customer service is amazing and I plan on continuing to use EmailOctopus as I scale my business. Cons I use the platform to send an in frequent newsletter. At this point it has been very user friendly. " August 6, 2025 5.0 I am very happy with using Email Octopus to distribute the weekly e-edition of our small town newspaper. We don't have a large list of subscribers, so this fits the bill. Pros It is very user friendly and allows me to do what I need to do for our small newspaper for the appropriate fee, unlike bigger distributors that cost an arm and a leg. Cons I wish there was a slightly easier way to view and add contacts from a list. Importing got most of the work done, but not entirely. May 16, 2025 5.0 It's been a very intuitive interface, which is a huge relief. Pros EmailOctopus is one of the few services that still offers a robust free plan. I'm actually teaching a workshop about newsletters tomorrow, and it's the one I recommend highly. Cons I wish the free plan allowed for a longer onboarding sequence. My income right now doesn't allow me to do a paid plan, but I might be able to sooner, if I could onboard subscribers more effectively. Easy to use templates for emails, drop and drag is great for creating your own designs. Like how you can set up your own brand so it's there to use each time. Found it does what I want but in such a simple way as I was so confused when trying and using other sites. Pros Easy to use. I have tried other site before and just got completely lost and wasn't able to do what I wanted. I was recommended email octopus and straight away I found it was easy to use, great help section if I did need help, and useful set up emails which I could use as a guide when needed. Cons sometimes when uploading my own images it can be a bit slow, but im trying hard to find something negative.
