They aren't always hounding me to upgrade, which is refreshing. Could I handle prettier emails? Sure, but I don't feel that's top priority for me right now. The priority is getting something written and out to my list. In fact, keeping it simple with their drag and drop method gets me in and out of the platform fast and allows me to get back into my studio and onto the things that drive my business... making my paintings. Pros To be honest, the thing I like most is that EmailOctopus is free. As a small art business, I watch costs very closely. I like that my account with EmailOctopus will grow only as I grow. As I grow my list, which means I have more opportunity to earn more, then I don't mind paying for features that I'll probably need down the line. Also, it's a simple to use platform which I appreciate. I have easy access to my data (my list). Another thing that I like is that they implement a verification process to get into my account. It's simple and fast yet gives a sense of protection that I want. Cons Some things I like least about EmailOctopus would be that I don't have access to my data reports for each individual campaign for very long. I think it's 2 weeks. However, they do give you the option to download them as a csv which is nice. You just need to catch it in time and download. Of course if you upgrade to a paid version you have access to your data at any time. Not having long term access is a price I'm willing to pay at the moment. The emails are fairly simple to make, however as a past graphic designer, I find myself wondering why the platform won't do a certain thing design wise but it's never been a big deal. September 17, 2026 5.0 Importing a very large client list, managing old emails and removing inactive accounts, while also gaining insights into what buttons are being pushed and what links my customers are engaging with has been so helpful. The pricing is right and the support for questions is quick and accurate. I’ve enjoyed creating campaigns and using the simple platform to design a very good looking professional email to send to my customers! Pros EmailOctopus is straightforward and easy to use, which is probably what I appreciate most. The interface is drag and drop or click to add and it formats perfectly with no coding or complex design skills needed. I’m a small business owner and I don’t have time to fight with complicated email software just to send something to all of my customers. It gives me the tools I actually need to create nice-looking emails, manage my list and send campaigns without feeling overwhelming. I also really appreciate the pricing compared with some of the bigger email marketing platforms. I was able to import my previous client account lists from another provider very easily and I can one click remove or add new emails/customers as I need. I’ve reached out to customer support only a couple times and the response is very quick. Often I can search for help topics on what I’m looking for as well and the videos/ reviews online are very helpful. The security is sound and I feel confident sending my campaigns. When someone asks to unsubscribe, the platform alerts me and I can take care of it quickly. This security makes me feel better knowing I can comply with marketing rules and regulations quickly and be notified to make the change immediately. Cons There are a few areas where it feels a little more basic than some of the larger email marketing platforms, especially when it comes to more advanced features and customization of campaign fields and colors, but honestly it hasn’t been a deal breaker for me. In that experience, I had never encountered this level of operational intrusion. After onboarding, importing my list, and preparing campaigns, my campaign was placed on hold for manual review. EmailOctopus later confirmed that my campaign did not violate any compliance rule. Despite this, they manually opened and reviewed my private campaign content and initiated an extended investigation into my internal business processes, lead acquisition methods, and data structure. They questioned: Why some contacts did not have “first names” (even though my form only collects a single name field) Why B2B contacts used role-based emails (info@, hello@, etc.) How my internal workflows operate How leads are processed internally All contacts were first-party, permission-based, and obtained through legitimate business channels. No purchased or scraped data was used. Instead of relying on standard industry indicators (complaints, bounce rates, engagement, unsubscribe rates), the platform relied on subjective manual reviews and repeated documentation requests. This created delays, uncertainty, and business risk. At some point, continuing would have required disclosing sensitive internal company processes just to send lawful campaigns. Recommendation EmailOctopus may be suitable for hobby projects or very small personal lists. For professional, B2B, or client-facing email marketing, I cannot recommend it due to unpredictable compliance enforcement and excessive operational interference. We asked some routine questions to understand the gap. Reviewing campaign content and asking new senders about list acquisition is standard practice across the email industry. It's essential for maintaining strong relationships with inbox providers and protecting deliverability for all our customers. From importing subscribers and designing newsletters, to the reliablity of the actual sending of emails. I've used EmailOctopus for 2 years and continue to find it great value in running a newsletter for my ecommerce business. Pros User interface is really nice and clean and easy to find what you need to do. Tracking clicks, unsubscribes, etc. is really helpful. Email sending has been 100% reliable. Cons Nothing of note. We are utilising the email marketing and hope to start email campaigns very soon. We are also able to take advantage of the data management components, allowing us to keep track of our donors, volunteers, and students for individualized campaign marketing opportunities. Pros EmailOctopus is a great and flexible platform that has worked well for my small but growing organization. The User Interface is friendly and very easy to navigate. I also like that they have tier packages, so when our time comes to graduate from free, we have options, making it a great start-up value for the money. Cons Thus far, I have not encountered any obstacles with EO that I haven't been able to find a workaround for or received support and excellent help with. Switched from [SugarCRM Mailchimp Integration](https://www.capterra.com/p/232687/SugarCRM-Mailchimp-Integration/) Mailchimp pricing changed and the no longer offers a free plan for minimal users. Pros I was looking for a more secure service at a good price, and even with some free features, this is excellent! Cons At the beginning, I was receiving too many emails, but they can limit the number they send, so there are no complaints. I have not found similar service with other platforms (I did try a few and switched for this reason). Pros As am artist and a micro-business owner I am on very limited finances. EmailOctopus was the ONLY platform I could find where a real human was willing to talk to me, help me set up an account, and trouble shoot issues with me without having a paid account. Their customer service is amazing and I plan on continuing to use EmailOctopus as I scale my business. Cons I use the platform to send an in frequent newsletter. At first I was worried I might need analytics, which EmailOctopus does not offer, but information about who opens an email is saved for two weeks, which is more than enough to understand how people received it and why an email might not have been opened. Pros EmailOctopus is simple and has everything I need to keep in touch with my followers. It's a great tool for busy people who want to get stuff done and don't want to get caught up in all the "little things" competitors offer. And it's free! Cons Sometimes, moving blocks of text and images around can be buggy and/or difficult, especially on long newsletters. It was straight-forward to setup and I'm enjoying working with the templates Email Octopus have on offer. Pros Very easy to use and to integrate to the mailing list submission form already setup on my website. User-friendly site to navigate. Cons The ability to categorise people on your mailing list through tags is a little clunky. It would be useful to be able to organise contacts who haven't necessarily subscribed to a mailing list (e.g they've just signed up to receive emails about a particular event).
