Here in Illinois with an extended stay-at-home order from April 30th to now thru May 29th, we are very glad to be able to offer this service to our patients with the help of insurance companies covering this type of service as well during this difficult time. We would not have been able to help patients who are unable to come to our office due to transportation services being limited in our rural area due to COVID-19 as well as those patients who do not want to venture out of their homes during this time. Pros Video Chat was easy to set-up and very convenient for our providers and patients. We simply send a link to our patient's smart phone, allow their camera to have access, and then they are connected to our provider here thru video chat. Our provider can take notes while talking to the patient and take pictures when applicable for documentation and treatment purposes. Pros The setup was so simple and the ease of use for my providers was priceless. Cons Not really a problem with the software but some phones were not compatible or maybe the patients weren't compatible. Reason for choosing Updox We are using Updox for our patient reminder calls and sending of our new patient paperwork online. So there was no reason to use any other product on top of the 6 month price cut that was being offered and they lived up to their expectation and then some. Review Source AT Amy T. Pros We needed a product that would interface with our EHR and also be easy for the staff and a doctor with very limited computer or technical skills as well as for our elderly patients to be able to use and feel comfortable with. This answered all of our concerns...in fact so much so that the physician who told me he wouldn't use telehealth is now its biggest advocate!! A very affordable recommendable software. Pros I was looking for a software to help staff be remote working and still have access to fax options that they didn't need an actual device. UPDox is just the solution for that. Cons I dont like that they dont integrate with all EMR vendors right now which would really help with adoption in healthcare. Is user friendly for the provider. Cons 1\. Slow to download (as per patients observation) 2. Non English speaking patients ignore the message do not understand the link etc. 3. In some instances the quality of the image or sound is very poor. 4. There is no virtual waiting room so is difficult to schedule the calls. 5. It takes very long to wait for patient to answer 6. Pros Updox is extremely easy to use and has dramatically cut down on the "paper" process as well as the time it might take for an employee to move a fax from point A to point B. I like that it is HIPPA compliant, ease of use, and attaches easily to patient folder in EHR. Pros Easy to use - Connects easily to patient records- any doctor can become an experienced user very quickly. Patients find it easy to use as long as they have an updated phone. The video visits usually run smoothly. Cons I wish there was an option to add an additional person to the visit. This would allow for a family member in another location to join or for an MA to be a part of the visit and document the note. Cons i can only count on one hand how many of my patients who refuse or cannot do telehealth. the majority of my patients are very appreciative that they can "see" me and be safe at the same time!
