Pros: We love the fact that it gives both the manager and the staff the flexibility to control their shifts and it gives the employees a sense of ownership - they are almost responsible for their own time management.

Not to mention all the flexibility it gives the management of building shift templates, managing leave and the especially the time sheets (now that paid breaks are a feature) it makes payroll preperation a breeze. (We haven't yet used the Xero payroll integration and the Xero payroll has not yet been rolled out in our country, but we are looking forward to it).

As a busy little cafe we have also used the task management feature to cover off all of our daily / weekly food safety requirements which makes it much easier for everyone to input their duties and the simple fact is - if its easier, it gets done.

Before moving to Deputy we tried a few other products but this one seemed to suit us best and one of the main reasons we moved is because we felt it offered the best value for money especially as our staff numbers change all the time.

We have recently expanded our operation to second location and without Deputy the shift management could have been hectic. Having this system already in place just meant that we had one less thing to worry about.

Deputy has become an integral part of our daily routine.

Cons: As mentioned earlier we are a busy little cafe so we spend most of our time on the shop floor, whilst Deputy has a fantastic mobile options and visibility, as managers it would be great if had more flexibility to "approve" more employees requests on the go like shift swaps and leave applications.

Also I found that the employees with Android phones seem to have a few bugs still hiding away in their app and they also don't yet have access to the task manager on their phones.

However, these are fairly small issues in the great scheme of things and based on the development rate and technical support I have received to date I have no doubt that these are already in the development pipeline. We look forward to the updates as they roll out.

Comments: Since implementing deputy towards the end of 2015 in our business, I have worked closely with Jake and Joseph on making the system work with ease and ensure we are using the system to its potential. Our business has a high turnover of transient employees who work varied hours and days of work which makes it hard for our managers to roster efficiently. The team at Deputy have worked with us to add custom features which can help with our daily struggles in turn saving us time and money by being able to roster effectively and ensure we are being compliant at each step. As the Payroll officer for our Australian and New Zealand region, Deputy have allowed me to streamline the fortnightly payroll process. Removed the need for any manual inputting, in turn ensuring we have time for quality checks, within our limited time constraints on payroll day. We are a fast paced business and this system works extremely well for our managers creating and publishing the rosters, as well as confirming timesheets.

Pros: Worked closely with our team to add additional features required Fast response time Realistic time-frames Great problem solving skills, and solutions Helps with rostering efficiently, Forecast of costs, Ensures Compliance Reporting functions Payroll inputting has reduced from 1.5 days to 1Hrs due to new seamless payroll integration New upgrade of system is more user friendly and responsive

Cons: More updates on system features/upgrades to come More training for Support staff on system set up Doesn't do 'Modern award' interpretation. Although we have now got the system to interpret the Award this was a lot of custom features we worked with the Development team on.

Recommendations to other buyers: A simple easy to use system that is user friendly. For a varied workforce once implementing some custom features this system is now key to our business. Works well for all users from Frontline employees viewing, clocking in and out of shifts, to Managers ease of Rostering and confirming timesheets to Support team generating reporting, payroll, analysis.

Pros: The scheduling features, clocking in and out (especially with location services), communication with team capabilities, and overall polished interface are so well thought out and done. I researched several different software and apps, but this one really checked a lot of boxes for our small business. We have a core staff and many seasonal staff, so having a versatile staffing and scheduling app was very important. I love that I can copy weekly schedules, easily change staffing whenever I need to, communicate with the team about changes right through the app, and write notes about each shift with additional information. When it's time for payroll, the approval and tallying of hours is so quick and easy.

Cons: So far it is an indispensable part of my business. I (and my staff) absolutely love it. The only issue I still have with the app is its inability to have several different pay rates for each person. Our company offers several different "jobs" that people can claim, but each job has its specific pay rate. When it comes to payroll, it would be nice to be able to select which payrate that employee is being paid for each shift/or position. Once this is in place, then I will be able to benefit from the budget and exporting features of the app. Right now, I cannot, but I understand this may be a special set-up.

Overall: Probably one of the best scheduling/staffing apps out there organizing my company's staffing, scheduling and payroll.

Comments: We have over 170 staff in 6 regions nationally. We are looking to expand this to our international teams. We operate event merchandising at venues all around the country, however, we cannot install fixed hardware to have our team clock on and off for their shifts. The Deputy experience for our team created greater transparency and opened up a more robust communication culture. We operate under 3 awards across the business based on location and our team can work in multiple locations, so we needed to develop a script to understand how all the awards needed to interact with each other. Thanks to the thorough API library we were able to completely customize scripts and reports to cut our timesheet approval experience to less than 1 hour on a Monday and the payroll team was able to free up 2 entire days from their week. Our rostering team has been able to reduce the time working on roster production to 2 days and maintenance of the rosters has become a much more simple task - this can often be done in the app! Deputy has allowed our business to scale without increasing our scheduling workload. We have expanded our operations team to focus on our business practices and service delivery and because Deputy is part of our team now we have far greater visibility than ever before without additional time invested.

Pros: No fixed hardware required Scalability News Feed has our team communicating more openly Custom Reporting Award Interpretation - Once scripts written (we run with 3 different awards) App Experience Quick Payroll/Timesheet Approvals

Cons: Integration of Enterprise Version with Basic Version - Particularly Locations do not pick up the same address fields.

Comments: Our experience with Deputy right from the very beginning has been nothing but fantastic. If you have any questions, they are answered, if you need help you can get it & it is also very cost effective. We employ about 30 people & work in the Construction Industry. Due to the fact that there are many varied competencies involved in the type of works we do and there is also a number of different locations on any given day, rostering our staff used to be an absolute headache. Since implementing Deputy we have found this task to be completely trouble free. When we add our Employees to Deputy we input all of their relevant "Training" which includes competencies & site inductions which assists us tremendously when choosing who we can roster to the many different daily tasks we undertake. Our industry also requires that hours of work is reported of which is another feature Deputy is of tremendous value for. Not to mention the ease of actually paying our Employees each week via the connection with Xero.

Pros: The most helpful feature for us is the "Training" which allows us to know which of our Employees are qualified to undertake different tasks. It is also extremely handy when it comes to paying our wages - no more time sheets !! Once the Employees times have been approved which we try to do on a daily basis, it is just a matter of pushing the button & our payroll in Xero is ready to go. Also the "Scheduling" is wonderful & extremely easy to use.

Cons: The Android app doesn't provide as many features as the IPhone app.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you take the time to input your data correctly from the beginning, including your formulas in relation to exporting to Xero, you will have a wonderful, trouble free tool to help you in managing your Employees scheduling & pays.

Comments: We are in the air-conditioning & mechanical services industry with approx 40 employees and a similar amount of sub-contractors working on various sites throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area. Before we installed Deputy we were relying on each individual signing a "sign on/sign off" sheet at the various job sites. On these large construction sites it's very difficult for the site supervisors to monitor the actual start and finish times of individuals. Time sheets were emailed to us on a fortnightly basis from each employee/sub-contractor. These were all formatted differently and made wages preparation a long and laborious task.

Pros: Each site has an ipad and the employee/sub-contractor logs in at the start and finish of their shift where a photo is also taken which makes the monitoring of staff very easy. The times are approved by the office manager each day and individuals can check what shift times have been approved on their app at any time. Each fortnight the time sheets are printed, which are in an each to read formalt, and wages are prepared from these sheets. This process has reduced approximately five hours of wage preparation. Customer support has also been prompt and efficient.

Cons: The best way to use Deputy on job sites is with a "kiosk" (ipad). We don't have secure site sheds at all sites so finding a location to put the "kiosk" with available power to charge it was harder in some areas.

Recommendations to other buyers: Deputy has made it much easier to track employees start and finish times and also the formatted time sheets speeded up the wages preparation process.

Pros: As QB Gelato continues to grow we are finding the tools within Deputy to be extremely valuable. For example, we have set up our 'Opening, Closing & Daily Checklists' in Deputy under tasks which allows us to run our business as paperless as possible. In addition, it gives Management the ability to check-in and see if tasks are being completed when not at the shop. Being able to communicate updates to the team members and request a confirmation that they have read the communication is brilliant. I look forward to putting the scheduling module to the test this summer as we are adding on a mobile truck to our business. I have no doubt Deputy will exceed any scheduling requirements. My final comment has to do with processing payroll and the integration between Deputy and our payroll system. Having this integration feature is such a time saver. It literally takes less than 5 minutes to run payroll as the hours from Deputy import seamlessly into our payroll system. We are extremely pleased with Deputy and highly recommend this software application for scheduling. A final note... support is excellent!

Cons: At the present time there is nothing we dislike about Deputy. The support team is always there to guide you through issues.

Pros: It is a very friendly and intuitive product. We don't need to train new users, just add them to the system and it takes them through the basics quickly and easily. We just don't get questions from new staff on how to use it, clear simple instructions on a very intuitive platform just makes it easy to start new staff.

Cons: Very little. Would like better holiday tracking reporting but really not much else.

Overall: We have been using Deputy for about 15 months now and it is a great product that just keeps getting better and better with regular updates and new features. Comprehensive functionality and beautifully packaged to make it easy and intuitive for all users which is key to ensure staff adopt it well. We have used others but in my opinion it is the perfect product for our business.

Recommendations to other buyers: We have used for over a year and really like the product. It just works, we simply don't get any issues with staff - everyone knows exactly what they are doing and staff really seem to like it.

Pros: We went from using spreadsheets and a calendar planner to using Deputy. When we were comparing scheduling programs, Deputy really grabbed our attention because of its look, ease of use, and price. We have been using it solely now for almost 2 months and it has proven to be a dependable, trustworthy service. We no longer need the planner to keep track of time-off requests. Now they go right into Deputy. It is very easy to set up and customize - Deputy offers to do this for you, but we did it on our own. I am a self-learner and was able to gain much insight on the program after watching a tutorial video. Deputy's customer support has been dependable. I was able to get my questions answered during a scheduled video call with a customer support representative. I've also emailed them and they've responded within 24 hours, and I've used their live chat. My employees like it, and they appreciate how it automatically adds their shifts to their phone calendar. Overall, I've had a very positive experience with Deputy. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Cons: I've sat here for a long time trying to come up with a complaint about the software. At this time, I have no complaints about the product but will report back if something comes up the longer we use it.

Overall: This software has helped our company specifically with the scheduling aspect of our business. It saves the company scheduler time, helps us keep the time off requests and scheduling organized, and has made it much easier to communicate the work schedule to our employees. After trying the free trial, we knew it was the right software for us.

Deputy is fairly easy to use and has been a great help in setting up a new payroll system.

Pros: It connects to all our offices and is easily adjustable. Signing in and out is very simple for everyone and it's nice to have an all in one scheduling, asking for time off, signing in and out.

Cons: Setting up the schedule is difficult. I have to copy and paste each day for each person, even though their schedule remains the same because it's not automatically setting it up properly. The new Auto scheduler should see that "Mindy works 9am-5pm Monday- Friday" every week and set it up that way, but it doesn't. It just decides what hours should be covered and randomly puts in everyone's schedule however it wants. It will also randomly start telling me that someone is working too many hours, even when I have them set up in the system for a 40 hour week and I'm only scheduling them 30 hours. There's an override, but it takes longer to set the schedule that way.
I would also like to be able to see total paid time off easily, maybe even in a chart or report. We need to keep track of how many hours per year they have used.

Pros: I love the reports that deputy keeps track of. Every report is meticulously categorized and organized, which is a complete life saver. Instead of spending hours sorting through time sheets and data, deputy has all that for me in a single click! Payroll is super simple.
I also love the way that I can communicate with 40+ employees through the news feed. I use the news feed for important company announcements and changes which is helpful because everyone has to be on the deputy software, so everyone will see the messages. My employees also interact through deputy among regarding work such as schedules, work processes etc.

Cons: More functionality with the iOS app. I work a lot through my phone and I would be great if I didn't need to hop on my laptop to access everything I need on deputy.

Overall: I use deputy every single day to keep tabs on my employees who work in two different locations. Scheduling and managing my employees couldn't be easier. Deputy is a very easy to use software used to track data, time sheets, schedules and communicate with each other.

A breath of fresh air compared to when I wrote schedules with a pen and paper.

Pros: Deputy has been a saving grace when it comes to writing schedules. I love the ease of saving locations and being able to house all of my employees' unavailability information in on place. What used to be a beast and take me anywhere from 3-5 hours to complete now can take me 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on staffing changes. Customer service is excellent, especially when setting up your account and being able to decide if Deputy is the best product for your company's use.

Cons: I wish the interface for System Administrators on the mobile application was more user friendly. With my work being partially field based, it would be super helpful to be able to manipulate scheduled on the go instead of needing to use a computer to solidify schedule changes. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this product.

Overall: I love being able to see my employees' overall availability a week at a time, which makes scheduling so much easier. It would be helpful if System Administrators received a notification when a User changed their availability so I could continue to stay ahead of the schedule and be able to maneuver my team better. I do appreciate the ease of scheduling. It's not such a beast anymore!

Pros: Scheduling is complicated and the data entry process can be tedious, but with the "Copy Shifts" function, entry is made easy and editing is simple. A great tool for time management.
App driven for seamless integration with employee mobile devices, schedule at the ready and employees can set alerts, push to calendar, notifications, etc. to their liking. The dashboard is pretty snazzy and clear. Export timesheet function makes payroll a breeze.

Cons: At present, I have not come across much I did not like, how ever, when exporting timesheet the calendar function does not always default to the current pay period. It seems to default to some odd dates. I am not sure what is causing that as we had set our parameters. Support Chat is good, but sometimes a phone call is necessary.

Overall: Working for a City Government Organization, we installed deputy.com to replace our outdated and expensive Kronos solution. Deputy being a cloud based system, helped us to deploy and test more rapidly then installing a local on premise solution. The Integration staff and Owner of the company were involved with our go live and were amazing. They continue to speak with us and help us though issues that come up. Deputy.com is well worth the money and they integrate with most major cloud based payroll systems. Their IPAD kiosk app for clock-in/out is the best out of all the other company demos we tried as well. Easy to deploy and manage and they continue to work out bugs and issues as they come up. They are very quick to acknowledge a problem and work on a fix.

Recommendations to other buyers: Has the best features compared to all other cloud time card and scheduling solutions.

Pros: Inexpensive, feature rich, and easy for me to export timesheets to our payroll provider, Gusto. It was easy to add our existing employees when we made the switch. Employees have no complaints using it for time off requests, unavailability or integrating with their calendar so they know when they're scheduled.

Cons: The manager side of the mobile app is lacking full access to make it easy to approve time off requests. Depending how I pull up the request from my phone sometimes it also shows the date as Christmas Eve from years in the past (like 2015). Hasn't been a big enough pain for me personally to be mad enough to contact them, though I should so they can tell me I'm dumb and using it wrong or fix it.

Overall: Saves me time and hassle. Employees know how to use it quickly with little/no training.

Pros: Easy to use for a normal business operation. Very straightforward and clear.

Cons: The location notification doesnt work very well - when I sign in Deputy at the front door of the restaurant, it says I'm 500m away. Or when I have more than 10 events a week at various locations, the locations cannot be set independently. Also, it gets very messy to allocate 30 shifts to 10 different people at 5 locations.

Overall: I quite enjoy using this program and it has great features and flexibility that I need. The updates and the information sent to employees is quick and accurate. However I'm running the food trucks operation and some features cannot be customised, such as particular locations for every day events. But that's just a minor thing. Definitely worth using it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Have it little more customised for unusual business operation, like foodtrucks or event management organisations.

Pros: My staff and I really like the communication in the news feed, the ability to post PDF and images as needed to all my staff as I use it for my Staff Memos. I also like the ability for them to 'confirm' the message after they have read it. Having the chance to edit the start time of a shift is also helpful as sometimes you forget to log in and it can be adjusted.

Cons: It doesn't show the amount of hours scheduled in a day at the bottom like other software I have previously used. (When I work) and it also doesn't let you type large amounts of text in the news feed.You have to send multiple messages or upload a word document. Users have also complained that they can't view what the full shift times are of other staff working, just the start times of other people. It would also be nice to have multiple people able to log in on the same computer at once. currently one person has to log off before the other can log in.

Pros: Simplicity in its use. I also enjoy the ease of inputting employees into the system and the ease of placing employees into shifts. Its quite easy to use and its functionality is great throughout all levels of use.

I can tell you that the customer services is also wonderful and quick to reply to any need. They really have someone available around the clock which is quite helpful considering I often times get my admin work done later at night here in the US!

Cons: Overall, there is not much that I do not like, I do wish that Deputy integrated for little to no cost with accounting or other IT Software programs. I would love to integrate with other programs that I use, but the cost is just too high to do that with the small business that I have. Its ok...easy enough to do on my own due to the ease of use of the program overall.

Pros: Ease of copying roster into the timeframe and allocating appropriate team members

Cons: Export to Xero timesheets has to be altered manually in Xero for each line as details of type of hours worked does not match Xero.
Annual / leave days taken and processed through Deputy transfer onto Xero payslips as individual days. So if a team member takes a week off, instead of it being 1 line of annual leave @ 38hours - it comes up as individual lines at whichever shift hour allocations it was originally for. Makes for an overly long payslip!!!

Overall: We were using excel spread sheet, manually calculating hours and trying to juggle shift changes. Deputy has changed everything. Copy / paste roster templates, Swap shifts, Auto-calculation of hours, notifications when team members are unavailable - the list goes on.
I recommend this product to anyone I know that runs a business with multiple staff members.

Overall: Deputy makes scheduling very easy. I started using Deputy over 12 months ago and I cannot imagine being without it. Checking, updating or even scheduling can be done via a smart phone or tablet. I have started using Deputy at all the 3 southern states that I manage with the same ease. Staff love it as well as new, changes or updates are published and sent to their smart phones instantly.

I also love that I can contact deputy via the app or web app to raise a issue or ask for assistance. Also new feature requests can be made and where possible it will get implemented. Deputy have implemented features that keep improving the product.

Keep up the great work.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try it before you purchase. I tested 3 different products then selected Deputy. You will also do the same.

Pros: I love that I can copy-paste a schedule from last week, make minor adjustments for employees who have other rotating schedules to work around, or vacation days... it also makes finding available replacements drastically easier

Cons: I dont like the printable version and I still prefer posting my schedule instead of only having it digital. I want my employees to see my notes for each shift publicly and so I have to screenshot them print which has resolution issues. Therefore I have to size increase the window (ctr+), take two different screenshots, and then stitch together with photoshop in order to share these notes. Also, we are a restaurant that does shifts to phase send people home in order of first clock in time depending on how busy/slow we are or when dinner rush slows down. There is no way to indicate this. I have to use shift end times as estimates and let employees know. Also our POS system Sapphire is not supported and we can't use the clock-in feature

Pros: Ability to make individual time adjustments on the timesheet

Cons: Does not allow Admin level control, and upcoming schedules cannot be changed once they are published. If you select to have auto-clocking, it automatically does both clock-in and clock-out, they are not independent of each other. The customer service appears to be some sort of computer run AI platform. In my interactions with them they continually reverted to canned responses that had been previously provided in the conversation, even though the questions and engagement of the conversation was changing.

Overall: Completely Inflexible Platform with Poor Logic The platform is not very intuitive and completely lacks administrative control. As the COO of a small company, I set and approve the time schedule for every employee. Once a schedule is "published" it is locked and cannot be changed. While this may make sense if a Manager level individual controls time review, it completely misses the mark of common sense to make it so the Administrator and person who sets the schedule does not have the ability to make changes. You are also not able to delete one employee's schedule once published, the only option is "Delete ALL". Once again this makes no sense. If you ever have to make changes to an employees schedule, I suggest you find another platform to use.

Pros: We save loads of time and money on payroll by using Deputy. Payroll is cut down to a couple of clicks instead of hours of chasing up timesheets etc. All our managers love the software as it's super easy to use and easy to plan prospective staff spend. Communication is pretty good also with the notifications and staff having to confirm receipt of notifications. Swapping shifts is also great. Overall an excellent program that has saved us a lot of time and headache.

Cons: We have multiple locations in each state that share staff, sometimes it can be a bit tricky to keep on top of the different locations that one staff member might work across.

The mobile app is easy to use but doesn't have the functionality of the full app such as offering staff an open shift etc.

Overall: Save time and money on administering payroll and chasing up employees timesheets etc and ease of planning forward rosters and staffing spends.

Overall: Our company tried a few and Deputy ended up being our pick. It does everything you could ever want it to do and then some. Gave 4/5 stars in features and functionality simply because the messaging feature is too limited. However, they could delete this feature altogether and it would still be a 5-star application. Overall, Deputy is a sleek, bug-free system that will make the person in charge of scheduling a happy camper. And the price is right too.

Pros: Flexibility of use on the computer or mobile device. I especially like that the fact that it links directly to my payroll software, no calculations or manual entries required.

Cons: The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't seem very intuitive to schedule shifts with a virtual organization where all of my employees can work within a standard window of hours, take breaks etc. It seems to duplicate their hours if I do put in shifts and I really didn't have time to figure it out so I just don't use this feature.

Overall: I have shared my experiences with other small business owners. It helps me with keeping track of my employee's hours, ask questions when something looks odd and different and the best thing is that it links directly to my payroll software.

We switched to Deputy from hand-writing everything - SUCH a time saver and SO easy to use!

Pros: The thing I love most is that everything's in one place - Schedules, Requests Off, Time Sheets, News Feed, Task Lists, Contact Info..everything! It makes organizing our team of 30+ employees WAY easier than when we did everything by hand. No more emailing or texting out schedules, Deputy does it for us! You can access it from anywhere, which is really helpful to everyone on our team!

Cons: If I could, I would love a way to decide which notifications I'd like to receive. My position doesn't require me to personally track employees hours on a daily basis, so I don't really NEED to know if someone's running late, but I like to be notified if there are post updates in the news feed.

Comments: I have been working on taking our organisation from a paper based time sheet system to an electronic based system and needed something that would tie in with the development of our CRM & Payroll. We came across Deputy and began our trial with the premium version. After spending some time working with the premium version we chose to engage Deputy for the Enterprise version. After a bit of time developing the personalized script for our organisations needs we are ready to go live. The team has been extremely patience with me and very understanding with my many requests.

Pros: Not only is it a great program to work on, its really easy for anyone to use. I have a number of staff who have very limited I.T skills that have been able to uses the program (both App & Web based) with ease.

Cons: The only down side to Deputy is that it currently does not capture travel or meal allowances for pay processing (still manually entering into Xero after export).

Pros: Instant shift sharing, staff can swap easily, real time updates, clocking in/ out via smart phone. Its really good software.

Cons: Sometimes exporting to Xero can be problematic, customer service with this issue has been slightly lack lustre, so it required a bit of fiddling.

Overall: I manage a business that employs 20 staff and I find Deputy the perfect online service/ app that keeps everything together on the rota. Multi-functioning and great for comms with the team, exporting to our payroll and keeping track of holiday. Would definitely recommend.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you remove staff that have left. The software charges per employee.

Pros: This software Keeps us organized. We love the virtual interaction and giving our employees complete visibility and ownership of the schedule. Messaging on newsfeed and gets us out of text and email. We like the scheduling features and ease of learning for new employees. We are able to be twice and productive with Deputy.

Cons: Would like a more comprehensive workflow approval for managers to approve time off from the app. Something like an Inbox type feature on the app is needed. In order to approve time off now managers have to login on the computer and sometimes we are not at a stopping place to get the laptop out. The mobile features are so convenient!

In my current role, I have the pleasure of analyzing complex business scenarios and implementing software technologies that will drastically streamline a business process, reduce resource hours, increase speed-to-market, while saving a company over 500K ¿ 1MM on an annual basis. Outside of my current job, I have had the pleasure of reviewing my father¿s small business. It is always amazing to see that the need to increase accountability exists in any small or large business. And, it was extremely apparent that technology needed to be implemented immediately into my father's small business to eliminate time theft. The 1st step was installing an iPad. The 2nd step was finding the right time scheduling software. After researching multiply work scheduling software applications, I found the Deputy Software to be the leading time schedule technology in the market! The installation and employee training was seamless and took less than 2 hours. Within only 30 days of installation, the robust scheduling software has reduced managerial and payroll time by 5-10 hours a week. All scheduling communication and work tasks are integrated into the software and directly tied to employee e-mail and texts! Time theft has completely been eliminated since installation! Pros: This software has been incredible for organizing our team and schedule. Before using this software, all our scheduling was done on paper and then spreadsheets. It's saved us hours on that part alone. Assigning tasks and being able to track whether or not they've been completed by the assignees has been very useful, especially because upper management staff may not always be in the office, so to be able to do this remotely has been very useful. The interface is also very intuitive and easy to navigate on all platforms, from the desktop tool to the iphone app. We are very pleased with this software and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Cons: I would have to say the only thing we would like to see added is a geo-tracking function that would allow us to track staff that need to spend a lot of time on the road. They are able to check in and out of locations, but if there was functionality to show real-time locations, that would be very, very helpful to us.

Overall: This has saved us an insane amount of time for scheduling and organizing our staff and keep them on track with daily and weekly tasks. We are very pleased with the software and everything it can do.

Over all Deputy is very helpful to manage staffing schedule, leave request and vacations.

Pros: The notifications keeping people up to date of their work schedule it helps the staff keep track on their hours and select their available to work with us, specialty on an industry that demand a lot of flexibility of work hrs from staff.

Cons: The inconvenient of not be able to edit Staff profiles.
Since we have staff of different ages is difficult to the staff to understand how important is for the company to keep their information up to date.

Pros: It was simple to set-up the account and to use it afterwards. It is easy to show the employees how to use. The news feed is great to communicate to all my employees at one time.

Cons: The task lists are tricky to set-up, especially the lists that come up when employees clock out. I was given an address to go to when creating the clocking out questions but would prefer a direct link on the website so I wouldn't have to spend time searching for the web address

Overall: I save time scheduling employees. Employees are able to receive their schedule as soon as it's publish. I am able to set daily lists for tasks to completed during every shift plus assign additional tasks as needed.

The Deputy systems is time efficient, easy to maintain and operate.

Pros: I like the fact that I can do 200+ employees in less than a hour for a two week pay period. No more tally time cards and running the risk of tallying them incorrectly. You log in each day and hit just a button to start a shift that is pre-loaded just for you and your hours. Then when going to lunch of brake just hit the button that states break and when finish hit the button that states end break. It is just that simple.

Cons: The fact that a holiday pay isn't set to pay 8 hours but base on the employees set shift schedule for the day. When you have as many employees as I have and you have to correct them each individually can take a little bit of time. By doing it this way you run the risk of missing someone and paying them incorrectly. Since I have only been using this product for less than 6 months we are looking it this issues to see if maybe we didn't do something correctly when we set up Deputy for our employees.

Overall: By using Deputy I am able to focus on other payroll for our employees that is not paid hourly. My accounting team is able to focus on to focus more on other ares of accounting instead of having to tally time cards and running the risk of errors.

Pros: Extremely user friendly. Smart phone integration makes it simple for employees to request days off, change shifts, and update availability. The news feed is a great way to send and receive messages across your entire company of specific departments.

Pros: It's a easy to use scheduling software at an amazing price. Additionally, the ability to sink with google calendar has helped our staff to stay on track with their shifts. We also like the training features which allow us to select which employees can work in which areas without having them be totally separated in the system.

Cons: Notifications. There's no way to adjust individual notification settings, so your mailbox is flooded with emails.

The constant presence of features you don't have access to in an effort to up-sell.

Overall: Large cost savings over the product we were using with similar features.

Pros: Deputy handles multiple Locations and job codes.
Utilizes email, texting, and app based communication (essential for the millenial workforce)
Exceptional product support and response time

Cons: The premium version handles 90% of our wishlist for ideal function at $3.00/user, but has limited access permissions/roles, and VERY limited reports. I understand the enterprise version has many more reports and other features, but and additional $2-$5 dollars per user is too stiff for me.

Overall: I have reviewed and trial-tested dozens of online scheduling and timekeeping products over the past 7 years. Our company has multiple locations (cost centers) and employees may work in one or more locations. There are very few scheduling products able to handle our situation, and Deputy rose to the top as the one product which outperformed the others.

Recommendations to other buyers: Use the free trial period and run every possible scenario you can think of, from scheduling to payroll export.

Pros: Easy of reporting, and requesting changes to schedules. The set up is very easy and adding or deleting people from the program takes nothing. The fact that Deputy holds all employees information even after they have been discharged and deleted is a big plus. It enables HR administrators the ability to go back and retrieve information easily.

Cons: Some of the features are not easy to figure out, not totally intuitive, but with training it evens out.

Overall: Ease of reporting time. The ease of requesting and approving time off for employees. Helps us recognize employees birthdays, and much more.

From the schedule itself, to having clear lines of communication with our staff on the news feed. It has become a much more efficient way to communicate than through emails, etc...

Cons: At this point, no real cons. With any software that is new to the consumer, there are going to be growing pains (Learning how to use it). But the learning curve was manageable, and I have gotten to a point where it has become an efficient tool for me within our business.

Pros: for basic scheduling, it works as expected, and I enjoy using it. I like the ability to bulk unassign shifts, and have shifts autofill, though I wish I could select which groups I can autofill from.

Cons: There are numerous holes - not being able to bulk confirm notifications, not being able to bulk delete an agents shifts, unable to turn off email and text alerts for shift openings by person. My conversations with customer support have not been great as all I get are canned answers and people aren't reading my questions

Pros: Deputy allows us to easily and accurately record employee time clock data. Deputy also integrates with our point of sale software (Vend) to provide information such as labor percentages and predicted sales for the month. Scheduling is also a snap with this software. We use it to schedule 7 employees across 2 separate locations.

Cons: The only thing I dislike about Deputy is how long it takes to load the app when I am trying to clock in or out. Once it loads up and finds my location it works just fine, but that initial load time is killer.

Pros: This software is so simple to use and to read, I schedule people and use it for my own use and deputy makes it so easy to see where everyone is, if someone is ACTUALLY at work when they clock in because of the map feature.

Cons: it would be really good if it could automatically send emailed reminders of up coming shifts to email or something sometimes I don't even get notifications that I have a shift

Pros: Easy to use, integrates easily with Gusto our payroll app. Love the News Feed for reaching out and connecting with our team. Support is easy and very helpful.

Cons: Would like to load schedule and have a button that says copy ahead XX weeks. Would like comments to be easier - a pop up when data is entered by the employee on the administrator's screen would be nice.

Pros: Accessibility! capacity, it allows our staff to be connected and preview upcoming shifts, other scheduals for other locations. it also allows employees to be able to communicate to our person who is responsible for scheduals. Leaves are posted, availibility can be communicated and the online messsage board is also useful.

Cons: Bad that we cannot be more accurate with our scheduling "times" needed. we are constantly adapting to fit in whats available I.e. our shifts are 24 hours, so we have to enter in 11:59 vs. noon. The other fault is .. showing stresses in the schedule is great, however, it does not demonstrate that there are employees shifting locations instead of no one at work.

Pros: It shows the location where my staff clock in and out. So I can tell who is lying and who isn't.
Also, it's very easy to use. When a new employee comes in it's so easy to make them use and understand the system.

Cons: Nothing. It's a little bit slow and buggy on Android app even if it now has a similar layout to iOS version

Pros: Great UI, time saver. Integrations with Kounta to see sales vs staff costs.

Cons: Doesn't directly allow custom wages based on an area of work and/or age. Can be achieved through the RIA 2010 template but would be nice to see this native and customizable inside deputy when adding employees and wages. Maybe an extra tab with wages. Custom wages based on hrs of the day/employee age/working area etc. Then apply them to an area or employee.

Overall: A real lifesaver when it comes to time spent on HR! Well laid out UI and intuitive enough that my staff can figure out how to use it as they go.

Pros: I is nice that employees can be grouped by department, or class. When its time to do payroll, the calculations are already there.

Cons: I have noticed that when someone does not sign out for their break, the calculated hours show that they did. This has caused some frustration with employees who expect to be paid for the break they did not take.

Pros: Easy to have a high level view of what is going on with my team. I can quickly and easily see how many hours each employee has done and compare it to the hours I shifted them.
I can also categorise the work so I know what time is spent doing what activity. This for me is very helpful.

Cons: Filling out the schedule can be time consuming. As with my business only 1 person is shifted at a time so it is tiresome to keep setting the start time of the next employee as the end time of the previous.
In addition I would like to be able to edit the view more, for example colour code each employee so when looking at the schedule it is easier to see who is on and when.
As our business is not sales related the reports which rostered hours against sales is not really useful. I wish I could change the metrics or KPI's so that they are now inline with what my business needs.

Overall: Easy to organise my team. They also got a push notification to their phone regarding the start time of their shift. Very useful for managing remote workers.

Easy to use, love the tasks and news feed feature.

Pros: Saves me time printing schedules and approving written requests for time off. Everything is submitted through Deputy and I have a clearer picture of who is working on what day.

Cons: I don't think that there is anything that I dislike about it. I have always found it easy to use. I guess the one improvement I would make is to be able to see when an employee is off for just part of the day on the monthly view.

Should be easy to make these basic options for all business that need to pay staff for these things.

Overall: Deputy has been great for someone like myself who has multiple sites for my business to manage.
Gone are the days when staff arrived in the carpark at their allocated start time.
When they are late now I get an alert and then I am on to them. It has made them all pick up their game and be on time. I love the leave info also. Once staff have approved leave you can't roster them on by accident.
Just want Deputy to develop a Public Holiday category and also staff meeting allocation option and this will be the perfect App for any business.
I recommend it to everyone I know who has more than one employee.
The one bad thing is it isn't very android friendly yet. Deputy have assured me they are working on that.

Recommendations to other buyers: As I said above - create an option for Public Holidays and Staff meetings.

Pros: We manage there different veterinary clinics with Deputy. Love the payroll projections for the work week. We use the journal options to keep track of items for review during our performance reviews. Love love love the integration with Quickbooks and Intuit Payroll, makes life super easy!!

Cons: We have not encountered any shortcomings. We have only experience difficulty clocking in with our employees once which was a system wide issue and was resolved quickly.

Pros: It is so easy and integrated into my system.

Cons: the andriod and apple app features are not the same so training new staff depends on their choice of platform.

Overall: Wow what a difference deputy makes. I decide the roster and who is working based on the availability that they input. I can see who is working where, how many hours and how much cost at a glance. Then if they can't work they arrange a correctly trained replacement. No more last minute panic ring arounds for me. I can even see how engaged my staff are by how long an open shift lasts. Lucky for me sometimes only a few seconds. Payroll integration is great. Approved timesheets are imported into MYOB and I can pay 20 staff in less than an hour end to end. Do yourself a favour and get yourself a Deputy. You won't be sorry.

Pros: Tracking Billable time with customers and clients is the best feature of Deputy. Often times, I see multiple clients in a day and having the ability to just run billable hours and any part of the day is a convenience, to say the least.

Cons: First, it doesn't link with Xero, my accounting and invoice software.
Second, it only works when working on one client. I often see myself working on two or three clients at a time. It would be nice to see this feature.

Pros: It's integration with gusto payroll is top notch! I approve all time sheets in deputy, record overtime, and holidays, and simply upload to gusto with all payroll completed. Excellent and easy. Not to mention, employees can change their time sheets (which i get an alert) and take responsibility for time submitted, creating a great audit trail for future claims.

Cons: Hoping for better integrations with hr software such as small improvements . Also, would like to see a better platform for the news feed that allows outside integration with maybe slack or small improvements.

Pros: The application is easy to navigate and the support is world class. Scheduling is significantly quicker and the automation of steps is a real time saver. It then helps us with our payroll and verifying our numbers. Most of all I appreciate the help from the Deputy team from installation through adding some very helpfull functionality when I pointed out something that would help me.

Cons: The ony can is that Deputy is not specifically designed for my industry so there are a few things that it simply can't do as far as budgeting.

Overall: I looked at over half a dozen options in depth, entering schedules and staff and doing trials. I ended up deciding upon Deputy software and couldn't be happier. It's smooth and intuitive to use for both the staff and management alike and integrates with Xero smoothly saving me time and money. The staff love the ease of the app and it allows them to fill shifts they can't do making like easier for me. I can choose to approve the changes or not. It has improved communication with the staff as well, do to the nature of our work, we are all on shift on different days and times. This helps us communicate.
All the components of this well thought out software work and the customer service has been great. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

Cons: There should be a manager option where I can see what my employees task each other. The tasks also aren't shown in order by date (at least the last time I looked it wasn't). I would also like to be able to edit a task if needed. Once it's made, I have to delete and re-type if changes are needed. I would also like to task something to more than one person in a day.

Overall: I've been using Deputy now for around 5 months now. I love what this software has done for my very small (3 employee) business. It allows us to communicate, schedule tasks, track time sheets and more. I love it. Makes running my business easier. I also love that it integrates with my Xero program as well. Thank you for a great, quality product with small businesses in mind.

Pros: In order to process payroll we have to collect hours from multiple locations and numerous users. Deputy makes it easy for employees to clock in and out by location and the retrieval process to run payroll is fast and simple.

Cons: I wish you were able to put the start and stop of each break rather than just the amount of time someone was on break.

Overall: Easy way to track hours and run payroll for a decent price

Overall: I have been using Deputy for 6 months, it's awesome. I can easily see where staff are, export time sheets seamlessly to QBO. It just has made the scheduling of staff and time sheet records so quick and easy. The team continuous improvements of the package is fantastic, already making an awesome package better. It was easy to setup also. You don't need a degree to figure it out. The support team respond very quickly, within 10 minutes.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get on it. Saves you a shit load of time

Pros: Employees can clock in at any location from their mobile phone. If an employee forgets to clock out and if they are set upf for mobile clocking in and out, the system will automatically clock them out.

Cons: Tasks should have the ability to be more detailed and should provide more characters for writing more. If a web link is provided in tasks, please allow the link to be clickable.

Pros: I love the open shift functionality. It helps me flex my staff up as needed.

The support staff is the soul of it.

Cons: PTO accrual feature isn't great.

I think that he was onto something with his short, declarative sentences.

A great tool for us with over 45 staff to juggle, don't know now what we would do without it!

Cons: I would like to go back into a locked shift and change it as an administrator. (as shift that has already happened)

Overall: Using deputy to keep up to date with work scheduling, rostering, pays and pretty much all of my day to day employee communications has been made easy and extremely efficient since using this software. Simply easy and so much better then my past experiences with other softwares

Pros: ease of moving shifts around, ease of editing hours employees worked, ease of copy and pasting schedules for following weeks, the spreadsheet that gets downloaded for payroll is very clear and easy to ready.

Cons: if you want to delete an employee, you have to go through and delete every single shift of theres before removing them. small headache but still annoying every time.

A great tool for managing our staff and letting them manage shift swaps etc.

Pros: The ability for staff to find their own shift replacements. This works so well and makes staff more responsible.

Cons: Needs ability to mass schedule or mass block unavailability. To block a full week off for example.

Good product with constant development will keep me staying with Deputy

Pros: Ease of use from scheduling to employee interaction. The employees have the ability to use the kiosk and also their smart phones to communicate

Cons: Would like to see weeks broke out to better determine over time. There is nothing that I really dislike about this software. I have used many others over my career of 30 plus years and this is by far the best.

Pros: Deputy is super easy to use, both on mobile and desktop. It saves us time on scheduling and payroll and our employees love being able to view their schedule and request days off through the application in just a few clicks.

Cons: I would like to see more customizable features as far as how overtime and stat pay is calculated - such as the use of averaging agreements

Pros: We moved from revel to deputy and found it far more advanced that revel. Interaction between users is easy and the interface is awesome.

Cons: For us it crashed a couple of times but that might just have been our connection as it could be sporadic. Some of the functionality also caused some of our staff some issues when using.

Overall: Cleaner and more productive interaction between our staff team

We love deputy! We use it for our cafe to schedule our baristas!

Pros: I love that it's super easy to use! I love that the people you make the scheduled can put in certain times they're unavailable it makes working with their schedules so easy!

Cons: The only complaint I have is that it doesn't work well on an iPad or tablet. The software is awesome for computers and laptops but wish it was designed so that it was easy to us on an iPad

Cons: Filling out this review and now filling it out again. Don't make every question mandatory to answer!

Pros: Is really easy to for everyone to use. Its quick, can be accessible on your phone or laptop. Its really easy to copy shifts in advance which reduces a lot of time at work.

Cons: None really. If I had to list something I would love to have my deputy shifts in the same calendar that I use for all of my family appointments etc.

Overall: It makes rostering and timesheets extremely fast and easy.

I wish we would have used them years ago.

Pros: Employees can manage their own schedules, and they get text messages with schedule updates. It is easy to create different departments. We also like how it exports to our accounting software.

Cons: No cons. There is really nothing I'd change. We've been very pleased with the app. It is much better than trying to do everything on google calender like before.

Pros: It's easy to use, and set up. Chat customer service was great; phone and email customer service was a waste of everyone's time.

Cons: As soon as I signed up my Sales Rep was MIA. The work around he explained for my particular need was clunky and confusing. I wasn't able to have different rates for different locations/areas of work. I pre-paid for the year, as it is a significant savings. After confusing all of employees and contractors, I decided that I needed a different solution. I was put on endless hold, when I explained the situation, and told I needed to contact their office in Australia, which only works on their time zone, via email. I received a glib "we don't offer refunds per our Terms & Agreement". Shame on me for not reading, the fine, fine print, but now having read various postings and reviews, this has happened multiple times....such poor form.

Comments: Coming from a background in IT I was very impressed with the product. It is top notch. What really sets it apart is the support. I wish all software companies had the support. 24/7 chat support with knowledgeable, professional and friendly people.

Pros: Support - staff went above and beyond helping me with every aspect of the software. It would make it very easy for a non technical person who is comfortable with chat support to get down and dirty with the software. Usability - the learning curve for my staff is not steep at all and even the non tech savvy folks were able to get on board. Any bumps in the road were ironed out by the excellent support. Openess - I look forward to leveraging the API that the software exposes. It will help me automate tasks such as tip calculation at the end of the evening saving me hours a week.

Cons: Why aren't other software companies this together?

Recommendations to other buyers: You won't be disappointed.

Easy Interface to Payroll System (Gusto)

Cons: While excellent for one of our annual events, the software does not readily lend itself to our being likely to use year round for our many other grassroots marketing events. Just a tad too cumbersome to get all the events set up and even still - it's more time tracking and reporting where we need a tool that is specifically geared toward marketing events management end-to-end that would contain some element/module for time tracking.

Comments: Deputy is super easy to use for both myself and my employees. Not only can you publish rosters via the app, you are also able to send out group messages which is a great communication tool to ensure everyone is always on the same page. Would highly recommend to any business.
