Pros: It allows you to see if you have double booked someone. I have two branches with 28 staff so sometimes made the mistake of putting one person in both sites on the same day. Deputy prevents you doing this. It also highlights if a staff member is working too many hours each week.

Cons: The print out of the week's schedule is very small making it difficult to read at a glance. Other than that I can't think of any other cons.

Overall: It;s saved me loads of time.

Pros: The way my 4 stores can be viewed and scheduled all at once with different screen options. Best system yet.

Cons: For the most part I have been 95% happy except a few times where a published shift didn't publish and on an older iPhone staff can't see anyones updated schedule.

Pros: I used Deputy while working in a temporary HR position. The app and desktop version are both quite slow and lags a lot.

Cons: Deputy needs to be updated in order to not cause so much lag. It is slow and gets stuck in certain functions.

Overall: Good software for scheduling

Makes my life so much easier!!

Pros: the ease of communication with staff makes our company run more smoothly. I appreciate how I can see everyday what is going on (someone late) which makes it so much easier to adjust the day.

Cons: there is sometimes a lot of notifications but you do have options to shut them off
Sometimes employees will have a trouble installing but their customer service staff is wonderful and their to help.

Pros: We went from using spreadsheets and a calendar planner to using Deputy. When we were comparing scheduling programs, Deputy really grabbed our attention because of its look, ease of use, and price. We have been using it solely now for almost 2 months and it has proven to be a dependable, trustworthy service. We no longer need the planner to keep track of time-off requests. Now they go right into Deputy. It is very easy to set up and customize - Deputy offers to do this for you, but we did it on our own. I am a self-learner and was able to gain much insight on the program after watching a tutorial video. Deputy's customer support has been dependable. I was able to get my questions answered during a scheduled video call with a customer support representative. I've also emailed them and they've responded within 24 hours, and I've used their live chat. My employees like it, and they appreciate how it automatically adds their shifts to their phone calendar. Overall, I've had a very positive experience with Deputy. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Cons: I've sat here for a long time trying to come up with a complaint about the software. At this time, I have no complaints about the product but will report back if something comes up the longer we use it.

Overall: This software has helped our company specifically with the scheduling aspect of our business. It saves the company scheduler time, helps us keep the time off requests and scheduling organized, and has made it much easier to communicate the work schedule to our employees. After trying the free trial, we knew it was the right software for us.

Introduced to Deputy via current workplace and have found it so easy to navigate.

Pros: Rostering is a breeze, especially the copying features. It is super easy to make changes in advance too.

Cons: Locks at end of shift so that administrator cannot change anything, for example if a team member left early or became ill.

Overall: It makes my work easier and that is invaluable.

Fantastic value for money, functionality and applied use for a younger staff group.

Pros: Ease of use. Ability to create and edit rotas, track holiday across multiple employees. Record training completed by work areas. Communicate with staff on the newsfeed.

Cons: Changing employee pay mid pay period, having to unapprove timesheets and re approve to apply the correct pay rate. Pulling data out a little tricky if you dont want it into an HR package.

Overall: Devolved rota planning. Staff savings. Print savings paper less process.

Pros: Scheduling features for availability of employees, scheduling conflicts, and geo-tracking of employee clock ins are all very useful. Support is very willing to taylor their software to the needs of your business. They were always keeping in touch when we first tried to implement it, and were always happy to help and available for us to contact them as well.

Cons: Price point for a Canadian small business may be a tad bit high after the exchange rate. Also the iPad app doesn't have very friendly views of a week's schedule, not very intuitive to use on an iPad, would only recommend the Browser based version.

Overall: Free trial was nice to use, but we did not decide to fully implement the software with our company due to our current hardware (iPads) were unfriendly and ugly to use with the app.

Pros: It is nice and easy to enter all details in and then being able to simply click on the date and add the man to the new job

Cons: When an employee is at 3 jobs in one day you can only see on the scheduler main dashboard the hours he is booked out for but not the job names

Pros: I like that you can see all shifts, schedule people, approve time sheets and so much more all within the app on my phone. The ability to sync with our POS system is extremely efficient and makes interactions with staff super easy.

Cons: Currently our POS system and Deputy arent syncing properly so it is not clocking our staff in and out at the proper times just their scheduled times. We have reached out for assistance but the issue has not yet been resolved. It might not be a deputy issue but currently its a problem we are having.

Pros: Great application to utilize for businesses to help track employees time and schedules. Great tool to communicate with employees and even helps with task assignments.

Cons: The interface can be a bit much at times. If you have an employee that is not tech savvy this also may cause an issue.

Pros: Deputy is very easy to use, super user friendly, and a great value for the fee you pay for the service.
Deputy is the best solution we have found when it comes to keeping track of hours at a very low cost.

Cons: Honestly I don't have anything negative to say about deputy. We are able to track our employee's hours and keep track of their schedules without any problems.

Overall: Deputy is very reliable, I have never had issues with the software. It is very simple to use and all of my team members learned how to use it right away.

Pros: I like how easy it it to house all of the information we need to schedule our staffing in one place.

From the schedule itself, to having clear lines of communication with our staff on the news feed. It has become a much more efficient way to communicate than through emails, etc...

Cons: At this point, no real cons. With any software that is new to the consumer, there are going to be growing pains (Learning how to use it). But the learning curve was manageable, and I have gotten to a point where it has become an efficient tool for me within our business.

Pros: Easy for staff to use to track hours and schedules. Easy to export timesheets for payroll. Phone app is really handy. Training and support is superior.

Cons: Often shows staff clocked in off site, when I know they were here. I'd like to use it to track PTO, but Deputy is capable of using only one accrual rate and we have several, based on longevity. The system is clunky when we put in less than a full day of PTO.

Pros: The ability for staff to find cover or swap shifts with ease.

And the ability to sync the rota with your personal calendar.

Cons: I do not use the time sheet function but the system keeps telling me that I and my staff are running late. I have tried to turn it off but have been unsuccessful.
The ability to customise the order in which staff are listed in schedule would be good.

Overall: making cover for shifts much quicker and easier

I am so impressed that Deputy totally replaces MS Excel as a staff scheduler.

Pros: Deputy is easy and you would be surprised how quick it is to learn. Support is right behind you if needed and the staff have taken to using Deputy just as quick. The functions of unavailability to work, rolling schedules forward and approving hours just make it the 'bees knees'. Thank you Deputy developers for making such a great app.

Cons: Why I didn't hear or find out about this app sooner. I had to go and ask a womens business group on the chat forum and only one told me about Deputy.

First time I used the software I understood the system easily and made my work simpler w/ the staff.

Pros: Quick and Simple easy to use with little instructions. Used the program for many years and love the ease of use.

Cons: Loss of data if wifi goes down. We notice that sometimes when the wifi doesn't work well the data is lossed over 23 hours. We can work with the issue though.

Pros: Job costing, it is really effective for booking in to our system. Also, we are using News feeds quite often when we sharing whole site souring materials and extra staff members.

Cons: Adding entire jobs to employee easliy.. not one by one. We are construction industry with multiple work sites, but when new employee came, it is time consuming for allocate all jobs to one emplyee.

Very easy to use and always improving on ways to make itself better.

Pros: Simplicity in its use. I also enjoy the ease of inputting employees into the system and the ease of placing employees into shifts. Its quite easy to use and its functionality is great throughout all levels of use.

I can tell you that the customer services is also wonderful and quick to reply to any need. They really have someone available around the clock which is quite helpful considering I often times get my admin work done later at night here in the US!

Cons: Overall, there is not much that I do not like, I do wish that Deputy integrated for little to no cost with accounting or other IT Software programs. I would love to integrate with other programs that I use, but the cost is just too high to do that with the small business that I have. Its ok...easy enough to do on my own due to the ease of use of the program overall.

Pros: The application is easy to navigate and the support is world class. Scheduling is significantly quicker and the automation of steps is a real time saver. It then helps us with our payroll and verifying our numbers. Most of all I appreciate the help from the Deputy team from installation through adding some very helpfull functionality when I pointed out something that would help me.

Cons: The ony can is that Deputy is not specifically designed for my industry so there are a few things that it simply can't do as far as budgeting.

Overall: Deputy is a time saver for me!

Pros: Accessibility! capacity, it allows our staff to be connected and preview upcoming shifts, other scheduals for other locations. it also allows employees to be able to communicate to our person who is responsible for scheduals. Leaves are posted, availibility can be communicated and the online messsage board is also useful.

Cons: Bad that we cannot be more accurate with our scheduling "times" needed. we are constantly adapting to fit in whats available I.e. our shifts are 24 hours, so we have to enter in 11:59 vs. noon. The other fault is .. showing stresses in the schedule is great, however, it does not demonstrate that there are employees shifting locations instead of no one at work.

Great platform easy to use and train new employees on.

Pros: It seamlessly and easily ties into my accounting software (Xero). Exporting timesheets is a breeze and ALWAYS works.

Cons: I can't manually add exact break start and stop times if an employee forgets to clock out for a break. I can only add chunks of time to the time on break.

Overall: It saves me time and effort and precisely tracks my employees' time on the clock.

Pros: Deputy offers flexibility and accountability. I can handle all the scheduling in minutes and the mobile app allows me to make quick check ins or adjustments.

Cons: Publishing copied shifts is a tad cumbersome but does prevent errors. I've learned to work wiith it.

Overall: Easy scheduling and time tracking for my small company where I wear many hats. I can take care of our schedule in a small amount of time and make changes or adjustments easily.

Pros: I love that it's super easy to use! I love that the people you make the scheduled can put in certain times they're unavailable it makes working with their schedules so easy!

Cons: The only complaint I have is that it doesn't work well on an iPad or tablet. The software is awesome for computers and laptops but wish it was designed so that it was easy to us on an iPad

Pros: We manage there different veterinary clinics with Deputy. Love the payroll projections for the work week. We use the journal options to keep track of items for review during our performance reviews. Love love love the integration with Quickbooks and Intuit Payroll, makes life super easy!!

Cons: We have not encountered any shortcomings. We have only experience difficulty clocking in with our employees once which was a system wide issue and was resolved quickly.

Pros: I like that it sends a text to the employees with their schedules. I also like that they can use it as a timeclock.

Cons: I can't think of anything...maybe that you can't fully customize adding a new employee on the app like you can on the computer.

Pros: ease of moving shifts around, ease of editing hours employees worked, ease of copy and pasting schedules for following weeks, the spreadsheet that gets downloaded for payroll is very clear and easy to ready.

Cons: if you want to delete an employee, you have to go through and delete every single shift of theres before removing them. small headache but still annoying every time.

Pros: Inexpensive, feature rich, and easy for me to export timesheets to our payroll provider, Gusto. It was easy to add our existing employees when we made the switch. Employees have no complaints using it for time off requests, unavailability or integrating with their calendar so they know when they're scheduled.

Cons: The manager side of the mobile app is lacking full access to make it easy to approve time off requests. Depending how I pull up the request from my phone sometimes it also shows the date as Christmas Eve from years in the past (like 2015). Hasn't been a big enough pain for me personally to be mad enough to contact them, though I should so they can tell me I'm dumb and using it wrong or fix it.

Overall: Saves me time and hassle. Employees know how to use it quickly with little/no training.

I use Deputy extensively for managing job sites.

Pros: I like the ability to be able to reach personnel in timely manner. It provides contact number and the ability text and email. Scheduling shifts is easy. The clone feature is a time saver.

Cons: We had to adjust the way we built shifts. At first it would not provide a map of the location but now that feature has been added.

Pros: Easy to use. User friendly interface. A lot of features available, however we don't use all of what Deputy has to offer.

Cons: The employee can change their login time without manager's approval. I always have to check the history to change the time back to what they signed in at.

Overall: Able to have all my employees sign in , sign out , and break time when they work. Pull out time sheets to do our payroll efficiently now.

This was very easy for me to learn. The way its layed out, easy to follow.

Pros: I is nice that employees can be grouped by department, or class. When its time to do payroll, the calculations are already there.

Cons: I have noticed that when someone does not sign out for their break, the calculated hours show that they did. This has caused some frustration with employees who expect to be paid for the break they did not take.

Pros: The best feature is when the software alerts other employees of an open shift. Other features that are good include the schedule copy over and porting the hours over to quick books.

Pros: This software Keeps us organized. We love the virtual interaction and giving our employees complete visibility and ownership of the schedule. Messaging on newsfeed and gets us out of text and email. We like the scheduling features and ease of learning for new employees. We are able to be twice and productive with Deputy.

Cons: Would like a more comprehensive workflow approval for managers to approve time off from the app. Something like an Inbox type feature on the app is needed. In order to approve time off now managers have to login on the computer and sometimes we are not at a stopping place to get the laptop out. The mobile features are so convenient!

Pros: I like that I can easily copy the schedule from week to week and then just fill in the few blanks from RO's. I have been able to keep a fairly consistent schedule and my employees appreciate it.

Cons: The fact that unless I personally update everyone's unavailability, they can not just to it themselves and have it be approved or unapproved. People would be able to change when they are available without me ever knowing.

Pros: I love that I can copy-paste a schedule from last week, make minor adjustments for employees who have other rotating schedules to work around, or vacation days... it also makes finding available replacements drastically easier

Cons: I dont like the printable version and I still prefer posting my schedule instead of only having it digital. I want my employees to see my notes for each shift publicly and so I have to screenshot them print which has resolution issues. Therefore I have to size increase the window (ctr+), take two different screenshots, and then stitch together with photoshop in order to share these notes. Also, we are a restaurant that does shifts to phase send people home in order of first clock in time depending on how busy/slow we are or when dinner rush slows down. There is no way to indicate this. I have to use shift end times as estimates and let employees know. Also our POS system Sapphire is not supported and we can't use the clock-in feature

The app is effective and easy to use.

Pros: True value for the money. We saved time, money and hassle. We saved money by avoiding overtime and placing the workers in the right departments. We were able to tract PTO and respond to employees requests in a timely manner. Employee and employer satisfaction is excellent.

Cons: Initial setup took time. It took sometime to train And the staff had low buy-in at the beginning. It would have been good to have tutorials for staff how to sign into deputy from their phones.

Pros: It shows the location where my staff clock in and out. So I can tell who is lying and who isn't.
Also, it's very easy to use. When a new employee comes in it's so easy to make them use and understand the system.

Pros: Its so much easier to do the scheduling and staff payroll with this program. I had a tough time with connecting with ADP but it seemed like they worked tirelessly to get the issue resolved.

Cons: It's difficult to finish the schedule when I have to keep going back and forth between the schedule and then go to people to double check their unavailability. Also, I don't care for the fact that you can't edit unavailabilities, you have to delete and start over.

Pros: It's a easy to use scheduling software at an amazing price. Additionally, the ability to sink with google calendar has helped our staff to stay on track with their shifts. We also like the training features which allow us to select which employees can work in which areas without having them be totally separated in the system.

Cons: Notifications. There's no way to adjust individual notification settings, so your mailbox is flooded with emails.

The constant presence of features you don't have access to in an effort to up-sell.

Overall: Large cost savings over the product we were using with similar features.

Pros: Deputy has great attentive customer service and development. Tracking work history and billing is made easy by Deputies many tracking features.

Cons: As a security agency we need reports that Deputy has yet to develop a way for us to use through deputy to help with uniformity and distribution to our clients.

Overall: Improved scheduling and time keeping

Pros: Easy to use. Setting up a schedule was very easy. Figuring out out what hours the employee's worked was easy to find.

Cons: Nothing.

Overall: Keeping track of the employees.

Pros: Deputy is super easy to use, both on mobile and desktop. It saves us time on scheduling and payroll and our employees love being able to view their schedule and request days off through the application in just a few clicks.

Cons: I would like to see more customizable features as far as how overtime and stat pay is calculated - such as the use of averaging agreements

A great tool for us with over 45 staff to juggle, don't know now what we would do without it!

Pros: Ease of use, good app for phone. Staff love it

Cons: I would like to go back into a locked shift and change it as an administrator. (as shift that has already happened)

Pros: It makes scheduling super easy and saves me time. I also like how approving and exporting timesheets is also just a click away.

Cons: For the most part, customer service is quick and helpful. Although, they could not answer a few questions I had about issue previously.

Pros: Interface is awesome and it's functionality is wonderful! From scheduling to producing timesheets, it has improved our whole organization.

Cons: It doesn't work well on Firefox and Safari. The iPad app requires restarting occasionally. User rights are limited to 1-4 different types (wish it gave me more options).

Overall: It has made scheduling much easier for my administration team.

Great product. Been using Deputy for three years and it's a daily help.

Pros: Ease of use. The notifications get sent in a number of ways so all employees are on the same page, the schedule views are easy to navigate, and adding employees is super easy.

Cons: I wish the vacation and sick time modules were a little more automatic and user friendly. Having to go into the backend to decrement time is a little annoying.

Pros: We have started using Deputy in our 5 sites, we have 100+ employees and most work in more than one of our sites so being able to see when they are working in another "location is so valuable"
Also the ease of exporting timesheets to xero payroll is AMAZNG!

Cons: I would like to see email notifications sent when a staff has a birthday, sometimes this gets lost in all the other notifications.

Overall: Xero integration

Pros: Easy scheduling and communication between staff. I like that the employees can take ownership of getting their shifts cover and swapping them out.

Cons: If you accidentally delete on the scheduled shift instead of "X" closing out you have lost the shift.

Overall: Time Saved on scheduling. Employee ownership of schedules. and easy communications with the news feed.

Pros: The ease it provides considering I have hourly staff members spread across multiple different buildings on the east coast.

Cons: When an employee forgets to clock out, it doesn't automatically end a shift after a certain period of time. After 16 hours of being clocked in, the system should automatically end a shift.

Pros: Extremely simple and user friendly. Has everything my company needs. Easy to approve hours and schedule. Love the GPS clock in tracking.

Cons: Cannot run a payroll report summary. I have to run a per employee per day for the two week payroll period, not a one page total.

Pros: I really like that I have the app to check things on the go. It's great to have the app for all the employees too.

Cons: I wish it was easier to swap shifts for the employees. Maybe it is but I don't know what the employee view looks like.

Overall: A schedule to check anywhere!

New to Deputy, yet had no difficulty grasping it's concepts.

Pros: Love the minimalist design, the messaging/communication features. Easy to find the major features that I need to do my work.

Cons: Can't think of anything I haven't liked yet. I did find that I could not see the sale budget data that I entered manually for some reason.

Overall: Saved me time.
