Pros When I stepped into the treasurer role for our PTA, I had zero experience and no one directly to turn to for assistance with what this role entailed. MoneyMinder's support is absolutely amazing. They check your budget for you and call if they would like to make any suggestions. They will copy over your previous years transactions for tax purposes. When I had contacted quickbooks about accessing our old account for tax purposes it took far longer than any exchanges I had with money minder and they were unable to locate our old account. They have also been available for tips on how to build a COVID-19 based budget for the upcoming school year. The platform is user friendly and the reports have everything I need to manage our finances. I could have not asked for a better experience. Their service is priceless. Cons I cannot think of anything. I've only had a great experience. Pros Everything! It is moderately priced. It is geared towards school nonprofits, so it really focuses on what we need - ease of use, tracking, managing information and contacts, etc. It is not business/sales oriented like Quickbooks, so it is much easier to use. All of the reports you need are there - audit, treasurer's report, data broken out as needed. And best of all, REAL HUMANS with school experience are available via chat and on the phone! They have always resolved any of my problems on the spot. They will look at your account, walk you through the fixes, provide screen shots, and provide oodles of sympathy and understanding as you hold back tears with the audit report due the next day and $.27 cents you just can't find. More than once, a customer service rep has stayed on the phone with me even after hours to resolve something. Bliss! Cons There's nothing I don't like. There are a few features that would be nice to add - or maybe they're already there. It would be great to be able to go directly to printing checks without having to save the file and print from there. Very cost effective for our nonprofit. Pros Money Minder is a great value for our booster club. It is very easy to learn and use for our treasurer. The customer service is outstanding if you need them, very quick to respond. Love that it links with Cheddar Up! Cons I could be doing it wrong, but sometimes it doesn't find entries that I pull from the bank that I have already entered so it makes duplicates. Pros Very user friendly; a big time saver especially with making and updating budgets and day to day transactions/banking. In financial reporting the type of Reports available makes meeting preparation a breeze and the Reports are easy to read and comprehend. Cons Although the subscription went up this past year, it's still a great option for a Treasurer of a Non-Profit. I wouldn't have taken on being a Board Treasurer without MoneyMinder. The amount of control I have over my organization by using this app and the access to information makes it a powerful tool. It is a complete program, and I can't imagine using anything else. Pros The ease of use and the short learning curve. I used it with a previous organization as President and now with a new organization where I am the Treasurer. The new organization is a High School Booster program with ledgers for each student and tracking money in the store and we are now using the new reimbursement process . . . ALL of it is amazing! The price increased this year, but the value for the money is WELL worth it. As the Treasurer I use the reporting function to send out statements to each of our parents for balanced owed and also for the financial reporting tools like a monthly Treasurers Report. All of it makes my like easier and helps me keep track of everything my organization needs! Cons I wish the new reimbursement process was able to be combined into a single transaction is needed. Sometimes we have the same person put in multiple reimbursements at the same time, but not on the same transaction and I cannot combine them into a single transaction. But that is a wish, not a need. The platform itself is very intuitive, and I was able to get up and running quickly without feeling overwhelmed. What truly stands out, though, is their chat feature and support team. Every time I had a question — whether it was filing our first 990, reconciling discrepancies between our fiscal year and budget dates, or just making sure I was on the right track — someone was there with clear, patient guidance. The MoneyMinder team has been nothing short of amazing, offering support that feels both professional and personal. For any new treasurer, I can’t recommend them enough. As a new PTA treasurer I was struggling with our old system, this is significantly easier to use. Cons The cost, as a non profit I wish we could keep the cost slightly lower, but I understand why the cost is so high based on the product and support. The prior treasurer left on short notice and the QuickBooks was a mess. I was recommended to use money minder from another high school athletic booster club treasurer. She was spot on when she told me it removed all the headaches and hurdles to keeping good books for a small nonprofit. Pros The learning curve to adapt to MoneyMinder accounting and budgeting software was quick, taking less than a few weeks. During the first week online live chatting helped me get over the few bumps that came up. The reports generated our clean and concise. MoneyMinder added value by minimizing the effort required for the volunteer treasurer to keep up with daily bank transactions as well as communicating concisely to the board members. We are a small nonprofit athletic booster club and using QuickBooks was rather challenging. With MM we have been balanced to the penny for the past 12 months and have already renewed for a second year. The ability to upload receipts into each transaction has eliminated the use for the traditional paper binder of transactions. Cons I have not adjusted well to everything being tied to the budget. We are working with our coaches to set budgets so the reporting more/less is more intuitive to us. As mentioned earlier, a partnership with another service that handles administration would be really nice, but we continue to use MoneyMinder because it has the ability to attach electronic support to each journal entry, is easier to navigate and the reports are better. Pros Very intuitive and user-friendly. Reports are easy to run and well-structured for use at our meetings. Considered switching to our administrative software where we manage all other aspects of our school PTO but the features and functionality are better in MoneyMinder. Cons Only drawback is that it is not tied to a larger software package with more options. We also use a subscription service for our newsletters, member directories, surveys/polls and generating QR codes for people to send us mobile payments and that site also has accounting functionality where you can automatically have journal entries posted to a specific account once you setup a QR code for a specific event. That would save time instead of posting dozens of separate journal entries for each payment received. I was not involved in the initial decision to go with MoneyMinder, I inherited it from previous treasurer. However, I did investigate and try Membership Toolkit which we use for the rest of our PTO administration and I prefer MoneyMinder's accounting functionality over Toolkit. Much more user friendly than our previously used software. I had no guidance from our previous treasurer when I took over, and I was able to navigate with ease. I recently used the chat feature and had a great experience and my issue was resolved. Pros MoneyMinder is very easy to navigate. Once you set up your budget, it's simple to add in expenditures and account for them under certain budget items. Monthly reconciling helps make sure everything is accounted for. Cons MoneyMinder says that you can link it with your bank account and increased the price due to this feature, but our bank is currently not supported. HOA Treasurer Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "MoneyMinder was the right choice for our association" May 15, 2023 4.0 I've only been using it for a couple of months, though though this time was spent verifying and reconciling past and current year, which gave me a much more thorough understanding of navigating MoneyMinder, correcting my mistakes, and learning how to use categories and budgeting. I think it is a sufficiently robust product for our 14-unit association, and I'm looking forward to exploring the features in more depth. So far, so good! Pros We are a small HOA association needed a simple replacement for our spreadsheets to track our accounting. After a good deal of research, I stumbled on MoneyMinder. The free trials, plus the AMAZING assistance from \[sensitive content hidden\] in Money Minder support to create our setup and input an entire year's worth of data for us was a game changer. And for the first time, we can easily create a budget and track our income and expenses to budget. Cons I would like to see a report by month of income by unit with the unit #, all in one place with totals for each unit for each month. Maybe it's there, and I just haven't found it. I think they option for accrual rather than cash accounting would be helpful, but not critical. I was thrown into my role as treasurer and found the video tutorials extremely helpful. I had no trouble navigating the system. The podcast and Facebook group were an added bonus and helped me learn more about my role. The support team is phenomenal, though I’ve rarely needed them because the system is so easy to use. The reporting features are also excellent. Pros The system is pretty foolproof. It’s easy to navigate even without any training, and if you do make a mistake, everything can be fixed quickly and easily. Cons There really aren’t any cons to the system. Pros MoneyMinder made all the difference for us. We were keeping records in excel and creating statements one by one. We were not using any software to track expenditures. Now I can easily create 250 statements at one time. The treasurer's report is professional and provides information about the budget. We are tracking how much it costs to take care of the pool, etc. This makes it possible to actually budget. I know MM will continue to only get better. Pros Easy to use. Easy to understand and navigate, web based, no software to buy or programs to download. Magnificent Support Service, no complicated phone directory to navigate, pleasant, knowledgeable staff that answer the calls. They are wonderful with email or Phone support for any problems, concerns or questions you have. I had never done Bookkeeping or Accounting work but they were super patient getting me set up and going. Once you get set up its amazing too, as one Support person said, "Watch the Magic happen" when it all clicks and you can see what you can do. It all works harmoniously. I was very impressed and continue to be impressed every day. Lots of different reports can be generated as well. They recently added Bank Integration availability that will make things easier then ever if that's an add on you want. Cons I asked them to investigate a way to make the Treasurer Report shorter, not so many lines. Being used for less than a year so there still is a bit of a learning curve yet. Great tools, awesome support. Using this software would give any treasurer the confidence to operate a successful PTO. Pros This is an amazingly easy-to-use software that has allowed me as treasurer to keep up with the growing rate of business under which our PTO now operates. Previously, our PTO used an excel spreadsheet to record transactions and track budget. As the PTO grew last year, I stated they would need to pay for budgeting software or pay for my counseling. The decision to use MoneyMinder as that software was the single best decision we made to keep our organization financially functional, professional, and transparent. MoneyMinder allows your check register, budget, contacts, donation statements, and reporting tools to work harmoniously. Transactions are easily entered, linked to the budget (and, if applicable, donor), and reconciled. Reports can be generated to present at meetings, aid with tax filings, and track financial information across the years. Viewer access, if granted, allows other members of the organization to see current financial information and create reports. MoneyMinder's customer service is some of the best I have ever experienced. During our trial period, the staff at MoneyMinder took our awkward spreadsheet and translated it into an ingenious budget. Since then, whenever I need assistance, I know I can call and someone from MoneyMinder will answer on the first ring. I'm not saying they have to answer on the first ring every time, but if it takes two rings, they are only human, right? Right?! Cons This software can't make your coffee. And although MoneyMinder can create 19 different kinds of reports, I would like to see a report with a pie chart. Any questions that I've had were answered immediately! I am so grateful for their willingness to walk me through the budgeting software when it was new to me. I have a tendency not to dig in past the first functions when I am learning something. With their help, I use MoneyMinder way more effectively, especially in preparation for our budget meeting. The other major benefit is the transparency that MoneyMinder offers. I feel more confident with the ability to allow everyone on the PTO Board, and within our PTO community, to see our account status. It makes conversations more informed and protects us as an organization. Pros I like the organized, user-friendly nature of MoneyMinder. We used spreadsheets to record our financial information before MoneyMinder and we did not understand what we were missing. The MoneyMinder system keeps track of our account information, but it is also multifaceted and flexible. We are able to generate the reports that we need to answer any question that is asked. I also love that the software is so easy to learn! We've had a new Treasurer both this year and last year. It was very easy to train them, especially with MoneyMinders help. Did you know that you can search for anything using your browser? For example, you can use the browser's "find" feature to easily look for a date, name, word, dollar amount, etc. Including that in our software would be a little redundant. Cons The ONLY feature I don't like is the graphic interface of the budget tool. I find the way the indentations of categories, subcategories, etc. to be really hard to read.
